TIA Tests For CDMA Nets In New Doc Revision

TIA has released TIA-1043-A, Issues Over the Air Interoperability Specification for cdma2000® Air Interface. TIA-1043-A is the first revision of the document, which defines air interface interoperability tests for CDMA mobile stations/access terminals and base stations/access networks.

Originally published in 2002, the Telecommunications Industry Association's TIA/EIA-862 BAS Cabling Standard for Commercial Buildings establishes requirements for the cabling infrastructure that supports building automation systems. The first updates of the TIA/EIA-862 standard will maintain many elements of a structured cabling system.

TIA releases 568-C.0, C.1 standards

TIA has released two cabling standards: the new TIA-568-C.0 Generic Telecommunications Cabling for Customer Premises and the TIA-568-C.1 Commercial Building Telecommunications Cabling Standard revision. The new standards improve upon and replace TIA-568-B.1 and its addenda.

New Tower Safety Standard in the Works

A new tower construction standard is being developed by the Telecommunications Industry Association with the goal of improving construction safety and preventing construction accidents and structure collapses. In its Radio TechCheck newsletter this week, NAB reports the topic was discussed during the Broadcast Engineering Conference at this year's show.

The Telecommunications Industry Association, APCO and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department filed comments at the FCC supporting rule changes for the 470-512 MHz band requested in a February petition by the National Public Safety Telecommunications Council. They said the changes would make the band more useful to public safety and should not cause interference to TV broadcasts given changes in technology.

TIA has released a new standard: TIA-1005 Telecommunications Infrastructure Standard for Industrial Premises. This standard specifies telecommunications cabling to support industrial premises applications (i.e. voice, data, text, video, industrial and building controls, security, fire alarm, image, etc.) while allowing for exposures to wider ranges than most commercial environments.
