July 9 Event Will Help Educate and Inform Grant Applicants Seeking Access to $4 Billion in Funds

The initial Notice of Funds Availability (NOFA) and programmatic rules for broadband stimulus funds has just been released, with up to $4 billion of funding available in the first round. Time is of the essence, with applications due on August 14. Standards: Issues ISIM Application on UICC for cdma2000 Spread Spectrum Systems

New standard TIA-1078 defines the IP Multimedia Services Identity Module (ISIM) application. This application resides on the Universal Integrated Circuit Card (UICC), an Integrated Circuit (IC) card – or "smart" card. TIA-1078 addresses ISIM implementation on UICC only to ensure interoperability between an ISIM and terminal independently of the respective manufacturer, card issuer or operator.

For the first time in its 23 years of forecasting for the information and communications technology (ICT) industry, the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) is projecting a 3.1 percent decline in revenue for the overall global ICT market in 2009 due to global economic conditions. In the U.S., revenue will suffer a 5.5 percent decline in 2009.
