Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) Updates Encryption Standard for Voice and Data Over Wireless Systems

TIA's subscribers rely on wireless communication for increasingly sophisticated services, such as banking and other sensitive multimedia applications, and network operators must protect the security and confidentiality of voice and data communications over wireless channels. TIA-946-A details enhanced cryptographic algorithms, providing procedures to enhance the security of mutual authentication between mobile stations and base stations, subscriber message encryption, and key agreement within wireless equipment over CDMA 3G networks.

Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) Revises Terminal Equipment Labeling Standard

TIA has revised its standard TIA-168-A, Telecommunications - Telephone Terminal Equipment - Labeling Requirements, which specifies approved standards for labeling telephone terminal equipment. The revised version of TIA-168-A eliminates the ringer type “Z” and reduces the pool of valid equipment REN (ringer equivalent number) codes.

Widely Referenced TIA Standard on Data Center Facility Availability Recognized

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) are examples of organizations that formulate standards for the industry to follow. The TIA developed a specification entitled TIA-942 Telecommunications Infrastructure Standard for Data Centers. This is the most widely referenced standard when talking about data center facility availability.
