I love to host Mother’s Day every year at my house. I love this day because I get to honor all the important women in my life. It’s a chance for everyone to gather and enjoy some spring weather. We are all like bears coming out of hibernating after this long, cold winter here in Chicago. I absolutely adore the casual Mother's Day Brunch I put together this year.

I created easy recipes, delicious drinks and fun decor to make Mother’s Day memorable for all my guests. I wanted to highlight the vibrant orange color, so I selected fresh spring colors. I was inspired by blue sky and yellow sun since we have not seen either of these two for the past six months. I tied everything together with fresh flowers and the splash of bright orange adds the perfect finishing touch.

I created a fun, colorful display. I used a crystal pitcher. I love that juice adds a bold color to our gathering. I carried this around on a simple white tray. I tied a colorful ribbon around the pitcher for another splash of the blue.  Each glass has some lemon, lime, grapefruit and orange slices as an added pop of color in our glasses. I used yellow coordinating polka dot straws with a Mother's Day printable straw flag to tie everything together.

I didn't spend weeks preparing this either. I simply looked around my house for what I already had to make Mother's Day special for all the ladies in my life. Simple color ribbon is an easy and fun way to perk up any table.  All my simple color choices coordinate with the juice color scheme.

I made Mother's Day dessert super easy on myself and purchased a gorgeous cake. I then simply embellished it with printable bunting to add more color to match the cake and the flowers. It is super easy to make, simply print out the bunting and glue or tape to some colorful twine. Hang the twine from two wooden skewers poked into your beautiful cake.

Mother's Day is this weekend and I think it is the perfect time to curl up with a cup of tea at the end of a day after being spoiled by our families. Sometimes I am in the mood for Mom stories that inspire me with strong female characters that I look up to and sometimes I want some great laughs about moms antics. I have this thing with pretzels and it is that I really despise them! I think it goes back to the days when I was in high school and my friends. We would go out on weekends and steal booze from all our parents and then proceed to get as drunk as we could, as fast as we could before our curfews. Did anyone do this? Well, when you are 16 and tipsy and don't want your parents to know, you quickly stuff food down your gullet before your walk in the door. We always ate pretzels for some reason. Now I associate pretzels with bad beer and I just can not eat them!

Well, I no longer steal booze from my parents or even drink booze for that matter. But I do eat pretzels dipped in chocolate!  I found a cute pretzel on Pinterest (Inspiration from Love From the Oven!) and had to make them for St Patty's Day!

St Patrick's Day Pretzel Bites

HERE’S WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

Ingredients

• 75 waffle pretzels (I used gluten-free pretzels)

• Holiday Color Themed Candy Melts

• Holiday Themed Chocolate Candy (Green M&Ms) (I used LARGE M&Ms)

• sea salt, for sprinkling

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Preheat the oven 200 degrees.

2. Line up the pretzels on a non-stick surface (I used parchment paper on a baking sheet). Line them up nicely. I was able to fit 75 pretzels on my tray.

3. Place 1 Holiday Colored Themed Candy Melt in the center of each Waffle Pretzel.

4. Place in the oven and heat for approximately 5 minutes.

5. Remove from oven, and immediately and carefully press one Holiday Themed M&M candy gently down on top of the center of each chocolate-covered waffle pretzel.

6. Cool for 30 minutes and allow the chocolate to harden. Alternatively, the tray can be placed in the fridge.

7. Serve. They're delicious. Enjoy.

We are munching o these as we watch all our favorite shows we have been streaming this month. My husband and I love to catch up on series that we miss or new ones that are introduced. Spring Break is coming up and we will be catching up on some of our favorite series.

St Patick's Day Chocolate Dipped Oreo Cookies

Chocolate Dipped Oreo Cookie Treats are so simple to make with chocolate oreo cookies dipped in colored chocolate topped with festive green sprinkles. They are also perfect for any night to stream your favorite television series or pop in a favorite movie.

I decided I need to make my kiddo’s snack this month to celebrate St Patty's day as well. I grabbed a bag of chocolate Oreo cookies (Did you know they now have Gluten-Free Oreos? My daughter is SO happy!!) and began dipping and sprinkling away. I have to tell you -- these are super delicious!

What You Will Need:

INGREDIENTS

• Package of Oreo Cookies OR any other favorite cookie

• Colored melting candies

• Green & White Jimmies & non-perils

• Shamrock sprinkles

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Line baking sheets with wax paper.

2. Melt the holiday-colored candy melts in the microwave in a dish with a bit of 1 tsp coconut oil. Stir well.

3. Dip a chocolate cookie into the colored melted candy melts of your choice, place the cookie on the wax paper and then sprinkle with small shamrocks/jimmies/nonpareils.

4. Take a small spoon and dip in the opposite color of melted candy melts and shake across the cookies to make lines across the pretzel and then sprinkle with small shamrocks/jimmies/nonpareils.

5. Leave out on the counter or place in the refrigerator to set.

St Patrick's Day is for making sweet treats for the ones you love. That would be my children! These St Patty Pretzel Bites are super simple to make and the perfect St Patrick's Day treat!

One things about pretzels though, is that I really don't care for them too much. But, I love, love, love chocolate covered pretzels! Go figure!? It's the chocolate, right? You know that salty crunch with the sweet chocolate gets me every time. These St Patty Pretzel Bites are the perfect treat. Plus, they are super simple and fun to make.

We always have pretzels on hand in my pantry as my kiddos and hubbie are HUGE fans of pretzels. I also always have melting candy on hand, because, why not, but probably because I have three kiddos! Plus, I need to use my holiday St Patrick's Day sprinkles.

ST PATTY PRETZEL BITES

Ingredients

• Small pretzels

• Colored melting candies

• Green & White Jimmies & non perils

• Shamrock sprinkles

Instructions

1. Line baking sheets with wax paper.

2. Melt the candy melts in the microwave with a bit of coconut oil. Stir well.

3. Dip a pretzel into the colored melted candy melts of your choice, place the pretzel on the wax paper and then sprinkle with small shamrocks/jimmies/nonperils.

4. Take a small spoon and dip in the opposite color of melted candy melts and shake across the pretzels to make lines across the pretzel and then sprinkle with small shamrocks/jimmies/nonperils.

5. Leave out on the counter or place in the refrigerator to set.

Then all you need to do is enjoy! These don't last long in my house so I am sure to make more later this week. I have loads of shamrock sprinkles left, so I may make these for the teacher's at school!

I have to be honest and say I never even knew what Puppy Chow Snack Mix was until I think last year. My SIL had to explain to me what it was because I had never heard of it and I have never tasted it either. After she explained to me what it was, I simply had to make some, and what better time than on St Patrick’s Day!

I wanted to make a St. Patrick's Day Leprechaun Chow Snack Mix that was festive and colorful as well as tasty! You can really use any flavor of Chex Cereal that you like the best, we just happen to like the Rice Chex Cereal the best, so that is why it is in this recipe.

I know a lot of recipes use the marshmallow from the Lucky Charms cereal, but none of my children like or enjoy Lucky CHarms and I didn’t want to be left with a box of cereal that no one would eat (albeit - it would NOT have the marshmallows any long since we would be picking them out), so I searched the cereal shelves for a cereal that had marshmallows and discovered Minecraft Cereal! MineCraftCereal totally had Green Square Marshmallows- THAT in my opinion works SO MUCH Better with this St. Patrick's Day Leprechaun Chow Snack Mix Recipe!

St. Patrick's Day Leprechaun Chow Snack Mix

INGREDIENTS

5 cups Rice Chex Cereal
1/2 cup White Chocolate Melting Buttons (or white chocolate chips)
1/4 cup Peanut Butter (smooth works best)
2 tablespoons Butter
1/3 cup Powdered Sugar
1/4 Green Chocolate Candy
1 cup Green Marshmallows

How To Make Leprechaun (Puppy) Chow Snack Mix

1. Place Chex Cereal into a medium-sized bowl.
2. In a smaller bowl microwave chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter for 1 minute and then stir together until creamy. If the mixture is not creamy enough, add 1-2 tsp of coconut oil and reheat for about 10-15 seconds and until smooth.
3. Pour the peanut butter mixture over the cereal and mix gently until it is evenly coated.
4. Place half of the cereal mixture into a large plastic bag and add the powder sugar.
5. Shake the bag until it is evenly coated.
6. Place cereal onto a cookie sheet to dry for 15 min.
7. Place the other cereal mixture into the bag and add green food coloring until it is bright and evenly coated.
8. Place cereal mixture onto a separate cookie chest to dry for 15 min.
9. In the serving bowl, mix together both cereal mixtures along with the green marshmallows and the green chocolate-covered candy.

This St. Patrick's Day Leprechaun Chow Snack Mix recipe is so easy! And so, delicious. Really, my husband goes nuts over this tasty snack! He literally asked me why I have never made this before! Thanks to my sister-in-law - this recipe will be on heavy rotation for a great holiday-themed snack to make! I hope you and your little Leprechauns enjoy this fun snack!

Every year on March 17th, the Irish and many of the Irish at heart across this great nation celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. St Patrick's Day was once a religious day for the patron saint of Ireland. Nowadays it is a day of celebrating and festivals to "honor" the Irish. Here in Chicago, the traditions are carried out by dying the lake green and hosting a fabulous parade. We had fabulous weather this past weekend to celebrate these two events.

My little brothers, who are twins, were born on St Patrick's Day and it was always a fun way to celebrate. I myself am only half Irish and don't really honor this holiday besides wishing my brothers a Happy Birthday. My children love to state they are one quarter Irish and wanted to know how they were going to celebrate this year.

I thought I would make them a rainbow with a pot of gold at the end of it!

These are so simple to put together and your children will LOVE them! My husband asked me if he was getting one as well! Here is what you will need to create your own pot of gold!

St Patrick's Day Rainbow in A Jar

Supplies:

• Glass jar (I found thees in the dollar bins at Target)

• Skittles

• Rolos

• String

Instructions: Place some of the rolos in the bottom of the jar to create one layer. Separate the colors of the skittles and layer each color until the entire jar is full. Print out a Free printable download on a colored printer (I found mine at I heart naptime). Cut out the printable and use a hole punch for the string. Tie the printable around the rainbow jar with a fun colored string and that is it!

INSTRUCTIONS:

Simply print out the DIY St. Patrick's Day Bingo Cards Set. The St Patrick’s Day Bingo Set includes — 1 sheet with 35 Bingo Calling Cards/(squares), 9 St Patrick’s Day Players Calling Cards and 2 blank Players Calling Cards. I suggest printing the Players Calling Cards on cardstock, and the Bingo pieces on cardstock in order to play the game multiple times. If you have a laminator at home, laminate the Calling Cards. Also, laminate the Bingo Calling Card sheet prior to cutting the calling squares.

If you use the laminator for the calling cards, players would simply need dry erase markers or dotters. If you don't have a laminator - no problem - use crayons, colored pencils, markers, really whatever you have on hand. You could use dry beans, popcorn kernels, toys, or gold plastics coins. In fact, real money, like pennies works really well too! Another idea would be to use candy and the winner gets to eat one piece of candy!

Game Instructions

1. Give each player a St Patrick’s Day Bingo Card and whatever object you are using for playing pieces. Have each player put a penny over the free space.
3. The caller will draw a calling piece from either a bag or tray and announce the card to the players. Each player will cover St Patrick’s Day-themed image on their playing card with a penny if they have the image that is called. Once a player has 5 squares covered in a row (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally), they call out "BINGO!" and win the game!

Of course, everyone has their personal preferences, and my choices may be a bit subjective. However, there's nothing quite like enjoying a fantastic animated film and a generous serving of mouthwatering popcorn to create some wonderful memories with your kids.

E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial

Without a doubt, one of my favorite films of all time. An extraterrestrial forms a bond with a young child and begs for his assistance in getting back home in the timeless film SET. Sadly, some dubious government agents are interested in retaining E.T. on Earth for their personal benefit. The movie came out in 1982 and was a huge hit. E.T. is a PG film that is appropriate for children aged 6 and above; it is a moving tale about adopted families and the ways in which our allegiances are defined.

TOY STORY

This animated film about toys coming to life is ideal for a movie night with the family because it contains enough humor that are only directed at grownups. Because it is so high-quality, it has inspired three sequels and a large number of spin-offs, which will keep you entertained for the next couple of weekends.

The Goonies

Is The Goonies the only comedy-adventure film of its kind? Get on board with watching this with your kids if you haven't already! In their quest to prevent the developers from destroying their homes, a band of children embark on an epic treasure hunt, complete with villains, booby traps, and pirate ships, all in the name of finding what they need. Richard Donner's 1985 picture  is one hour and fifty-four minutes long, it has a PG rating. This entertaining adventure is suitable for children aged 8 and up due to its few scary parts.

MARY POPPINS

There is a reason why this magical technicolor film is considered a classic; it is because of the songs, the dancing, and the powerful cast. We would even go so far as to claim that this tale about a mystical nanny who comes into the property of the Banks family and takes responsibility of the children is "practically perfect in every way."

THE PARENT TRAP

I prefer the original with Hayley Mills, but the remake will do as well. As a result of being reared by only one of their parents and being separated at birth, Annie and Hallie, who are siblings, end up attending the same summer camp. They are shocked to learn that they are identical twins. Prior to going back to their house, the sisters come up with a scheme to trade places in order to assist their parents in reconciling their differences. But sadly, there is something that is preventing them from achieving their goals: their father's new girlfriend who is a gold prospector.

The Incredibles

The Incredibles movie from 2004 about a family of secret superheroes is the perfect example of a movie that will please both kids and adults. Kids will enjoy the fun and the fight between parents and kids over using superpowers. Adults will relate to the observations about family life and getting older. The Incredibles is a PG animated film that runs for one hour and 55 minutes yet moves swiftly and is suitable for youngsters ages 6 and older.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

You knew this movie would be on the list! Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is the first book in the epic fantasy series about a boy wizard who finds his feet after discovering he has magical powers. It tells the story of how Harry, Ron, and Hermione met and started fighting Voldemort, a group they would fight for seven more movies.The PG film released in 2001 lasts 2:32. The extended run time and complicated plot make it suited for kids 8 and up. You can view the complete series at future movie evenings, but be warned that it gets darker.

STAND BY ME

The coming-of-age narrative of four boys who are 12 years old and live in Oregon in the 1950s is an uplifting story about the importance of friendship, maturing, and finding the correct path in life. This moving picture hits the appropriate blend of childish adventure, grown-up drama, and a cute Jerry O'Connell. The film features some darker topics, which makes it best for teenagers and individuals who are at least sixteen years old.

Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey

The 1990s buddy film Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey follows two dogs and a cat, voiced by Michael J. Fox, Don Ameche, and Sally Field, as they try to find their way home after their owner leaves them at a friend's ranch. Bound is a remake of a 1963 film that grossed average reviews but has become a modern classic. The anthropomorphic creatures and themes of longing home and feeling protected will appeal to kids aged 5 and above in the G-rated film. Bound runs for 1 hour, 24 minutes.

 DR DOOLITTLE

Okay, here is another animal movie - yes, animals always get me. Plus, This one I like the 1967 original better. But Eddie Murphy’s version is always very funny! Meet Dr. John Dolittle, a peculiar veterinarian who is able to interact with a wide range of creatures that are considered to be exotic. His ability, on the other hand, leads his wife to believe that he is losing his mind, which ultimately results in him being sent to a mental facility. Would his animal companions be able to save him?

Movie nights with the family are about spending time together doing something that everyone can take pleasure in doing. Regardless which of these films you choose to see, you will not have to get up from your couch in order to participate in thought-provoking conversations about life and possibly acquire new information about your family.

It is National Pocorn Day, so celebrate by popping some of your favorite popcorn and gathering your family around your favorite DVD.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE WAY TO EAT POPCORN?

I have the easiest, most simple recipe for you to create the sweetest, prettiest, most delicious colorful treat made from rice krispie cereal. Valentine's Day Rice Krispie Treats are really one of the simplest, fastest recipes to create when you need a dessert or treat fast.  Even if you are a recipe or cooking challenged person, you can make this Valentine's Day Rice Krispie Treats because there is no baking involved!

Valentine's Day Rice Krispie Treats

Valentine's Day Rice Krispie Treats recipe made with rice krispies, chocolate and sprinkles! The best sweet treat in 15-minutes!

Ingredients:

• 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal

• 1 -10 oz Bag miniature marshmallows

• 6-8 Tablespoons softened butter (use less butter if you prefer a bit crunchy)

• Pink, white, red chocolate melting pellets

• Assortment of Valentine Sprinkles

Directions:

1. Spray an 11 x 7″ glass dish (mine are from IKEA) with a nonstick cooking spray.

2. Melt the butter in a large saucepan or pot over low heat and add the marshmallows until everything is completely melted.

3. Add the cereal and stir until well combined.

4. Evenly press the cereal into the glass dish. Pressing firmly with sprayed wax paper.

5. Place in the refrigerator to firm.

6. Cut

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

1. Melt the candy melts in the microwave in separate glass dishes with 1 tsp of coconut oil in 30-second increments at 50% heat level. (you do not want to burn the candy melts or they will seize up). Stir in between every 30 seconds. Stir well. 3. Alternatively, prior to the sprinkles, you can take a small spoon and dip in an opposite color of melted candy melts and drizzle across the krispie treat to make lines across the krispie treat(s) and then sprinkle with small hearts/jimmies/sprinkles.

4. Leave out on the counter or place in the refrigerator to set.

Valentine’s Day is for making sweet treats for the ones you love. That would be my children! These Valentine’s Day Pretzel Treats are super simple to make and the perfect Valentine’s Day treat!

I love, love, love chocolate covered pretzels! It's the chocolate, right? You know that salty crunch with the sweet chocolate gets me every time. These Valentine’s Day Pretzel Treats are the perfect treat. Plus, they are super simple and fun to make. My daughter told me the other day she would eat any pretzel as long as it was dipped in chocolate!

We always have pretzels on hand in my pantry as my kiddos and hubbie are HUGE fans of pretzels. All shapes and sizes are appropriate too! I also always have melting candy on hand, because, why not, but probably because I have three kiddos! Plus, I need to use my holiday Valentine’s Day sprinkles for something, eh?

VALENTINE’S DAY PRETZEL TREATS

INGREDIENTS

• Small pretzels in various shapes - select your favorites!

• Red, pink, and white-colored melting candies ( I used 1 cup of each color)

• Red, pink, lavender & white Jimmies & sprinkles

• Heart Sprinkles

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

2. Melt the candy melts in the microwave in separate glass dishes with 1 tsp of coconut oil in 30-second increments at 50% heat level. (you do not want to burn the candy melts or they will seize up). Stir in between every 30 seconds. Stir well. With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, it is so simple to build a Holiday Dessert Board filled with all your favorite holiday treats. I have been putting together charcuterie boards for as long as I can remember. I used to remember my grandmother piling up all sorts of snacks on boards forever ago, and now they are so popular. My grandmother would love it today that they are so popular!

What is Charcuterie?

Well, a charcuterie board usually composed of your favorite fresh cured meats, cheeses, some nuts, and some crackers or crunchy bread. I always add olives, capers, artichokes, and hearts of palm to mine as well. In addition, I will add a fig spread in the middle but other jams or jellies work well too. The idea is to have salty, crunchy from nuts and fresh veggies, a bit of sweetness from the spreads or fresh fruit and some fats as well from the meats and cheeses.

Literally whatever you have in your fridge could be put on a charcuterie platter or charcuterie board (aka: cutting board). The charcuterie board is super simple to assemble and can be used for party, gathering or holiday even at your home. Charcuterie boards are sometimes the best option for a party because you can use several boards for different food items. I have even made charcuterie boards for dinner!

Today I was to share the Valentine’s Day Dessert Board that I made for my family that is SO easy! I was at Trader Joe’s picking up some Belgium chocolate for my kiddos for Vaelntine’s Day and there were so many Valentine”s Day treats available I decided to grab a few items to create this Valentine’s Day Dessert Board for them. This Valentine’s Day Dessert Board was going to be a sweet board versus the normal savory boards I make.

Basic Dessert Board Ingredients

• Pink Macarons – I found these pink and raspberry colored macarons at Home Goods. Macarons are readily available at loads of stores and bakeries now, so check around during the holiday for themed baked macarons.

• Heart-Shaped Gummy Candy - I am addicted to gummy candy and literally am known for hiding this type of candy from my family because I do not like to share! I found these sugar-coated heart-shaped strawberry flavored gummies at Target in the holiday section.

• Marshmallows – I love it when I can find special-shaped marshmallows for the holidays. Vaelntine’s Day is always a great holiday to find heart-shaped treats. I was able to local several different shapes and sizes of heart-shaped marshmallows. Bonus, that these marshmallows were pink.

• Pink Sprinkled Cookies – The delicious Pink and Whites from Trader Joe’s usually make it to my Valentine’s list. They are a treat for sure for myself as I adore these cookies. The colors are perfect for this dessert charcuterie board.

• Chocolate Covered Pretzels - I found this heart-shaped chocolate covered pretzels at my local grocery store. They came in dark chocolate and white cholate and were covered with sprinkles as well.

• Chocolate Covered Cookies – I found the heart-shaped chocolate covered cookies Target in the grocery section. They came in dark chocolate and white cholate and were covered with sprinkles as well. They are shortbread cookies and everyone enjoyed them.

• Chocolate Candy – Holiday boxed candy is in every store during Valentine’s Day so pick up your favorite box. Simply open up the box and scatter the pretty heart-shaped chocolates around the board. I found this delicious box at Trader Joe’s.

• Chocolate M&M’s - What is it about M&M’s these days that you can find them in every color and flavor? However, we like the original chocolate M&M’s and during the holiday I always purchase the specialty colors.

• Large Heart Shaped Cookies - I found this large heart-shaped cookie at my local grocery as well. They are individually wrapped and I grabbed one for everyone.

How to Assemble a Sweet Charcuterie Board

On your board, cutting board, or large platter, start arranging your items to make your Sweet Charcuterie Board as full as possible. Do not place like items of shape and color right beside each other because then they both seem to get lost. I changed it a few times before I was happy with the placement of all the cookies and chocolates. There is no wrong way to assemble your sweet charcuterie board.

You want to use Valentine’s Day treats and chocolates that come in a variety of colors and sizes. Either group like items together or scatter them across the board. Nothing says romance more clearly, or I should say no one, other than Clark Gable. This man oozes romance! It Happened One Night is — HANDS DOWN — the very best Rom-Com EVER MADE!! Also included in this list of the 27 Best Classic Romantic Movies, of course, include other movies Clark Gable made. This list also MUST include the duo of Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracey. I pretty much LOVE and adore any movie with the two of them in it. Naturally, Cary Grant HAS to be in all the classic Rom-Coms, as well as the ever-gorgeous Audrey Hepburn! Moving on to what some may consider classics as well - at least my children do - LOL! The movies of the 80’s are the movies from my youth! 80’s and 90’s movies are movies I say when I was in junior high, high school and college. They are the movies I saw with my friends and boyfriends. The movies that i most related with. I introduced a lot of these movies to my own children — and while my son thought Sixteen Candles was funny - he didn’t much like any other ones. My daughter, on the other hand, is as obsessed with 80’s movies as I am!! The Breakfast Club is her favorite movie!! But this Hughes-penned movie — with Howard Deutch in the director’s chair — found just the right balance of funny, funky, heart-meltingly swoony and sweet. Wrong-side-of-the-tracks student Andie Walsh (Molly Ringwald, iconic) could never attract the attention of a rich prep like Blaine McDonaugh (Andrew McCarthy). What would their equally snobbish friends think? The ending is still enough to choke you up. And whenever things threaten to get too heavy, along comes Ducky in all his thrift-store-outfit, Otis-Redding-singing glory to crack you up. God bless you, Jon Cryer.

This high fantasy, wry comedy, kick-ass swordfights, canny political commentary and, of course, sigh-inducing true love. As we follow reluctant damsel Buttercup (Robin Wright) and farmboy-turned-pirate Westley (Cary Elwes) up the Cliffs of Insanity, through the Fire Swamp, and to the very edge of death, we’re simultaneously rooting for our lovers to win the day and chuckling at the knowingly trope-tweaking silliness of it all. Plus unlike the ailing grandson (Fred Savage) in the framing story, we are most definitely not grossed out by the kissing parts.

Like I suggested above, simply grab a glass jar and fill it with some colored pencils or crayons and put a glue stick and some child scissors on the kid’s table. My kids love these colored pencils from Crayola. They are super durable for little kiddos. If you have tweens and teens, these metallic colored pencils are awesome and so is this amazing watercolor paint set! Really, your imagination is your only limit here. I took some photos of my girls today and I simply hung my white muslin backdrop and added a colorful Valentines banner for a bit of whimsy. Another great addition to a great backdrop would be a paper garland, paper pinwheels, paper rosette flowers, or banners. These small additions add so much to a simple backdrop and are easy to create and a fun activity for you to do with your children.

Props

Giving children props is the perfect way to keep them occupied so they don't feel inclined to 'run', especially the little ones. Have a basket of props prepared ahead of time so children can pick and choose what they would like to use for photos. The motions of using a prop creates giggles and great photos. Some goodies I keep in my basket are usually holiday related. For Valentines I had loads of heart shaped props, boas, balloons, flowers and scarves. Another great idea is to keep gender props available. I have loads of gorgeous headbands for girls to choose from and some fun holiday-themed bow ties for boys.

Treats

I don't know many children who don't like cupcakes, candy and treats. Here is where I will promote bribery for good behavior. Beautiful smiles garner a lollipop, eh? Cupcakes, lollies, cookies or pretzels all make wonderful props as well.

What better way to celebrate the holiday of love than with pictures of those you love the most!
