Empowering and encouraging employee giving: a different kind of Donor Advised Fund
In March 2021, the Trottier Family Foundation began its Staff DAF program, in which a DAF is set up for each individual employee with a sum of $5000 per year that they can grant to charities of their choice. Operated via a Donor Advised Fund (DAF) at MakeWay, there’s no matching of funds required or strings attached. Each staff member gets to decide where to grant the money.

With four First Nations, nine local governments, and several other stakeholders in the area, there were already several maps of various parts of Howe Sound, although no one single resource covering the whole of the biosphere. Shared platform project Howe Sound/Átl’ḵa7tsem Marine Reference Guide set out to change that.
