Tigger has dropped a few gems the last few days that I had to share:

'I can't close my eyes by myself' - his pronouncement tonight after being put to bed - a stall tactic to be sure
'Mama, feel me better' - his request at 4:30 am to help him feel better when his coughing woke him up
'I'm a Mom' - yesterday morning when he put on a toy necklace (after seeing that I had a necklace on)

I'll wrap up with a few pictures from Tigger's recent stitches incident. He ran into a desk at school last Thursday and had his first stitches experience - 3 stitches to be exact!

Christmas Part 2

After all the holiday festivities with the extended family, we were finally at home and were able to do our own Christmas. Papa TT and I had decided Tigger was old enough for a real bike. This was the first of many pre-Christmas-toy-assembly-nights:

The kids loved opening their presents. Even Tilly is very good at ripping off wrapping paper!

Tilly was more excited about the chocolate candy in her stocking than any present.

After the gifts we lured Tigger downstairs for his last present...

Papa TT and I erred and got one that was too big. He can't even reach the pedals! We went back the next day and got the next smallest size. The first time he got on it he took off!

Tilly wants to play too!

The damage wasn't too bad. Some of the mess is also presents for Papa TT (a pizza stone he's been wanting for months) and me (Kennedy Center show tickets) - it's not just the kids:)

Christmas Part 1

We had lots of Christmas fun this holiday season so I have to break it into two posts.

Earlier in December, we got a Christmas tree and the kids had great fun decorating it!

And a star on the top:
A few weeks later G-Ma and G-Pa T came for a visit. Tigger and Tilly helped G-Ma T make a snack. They ate as much as they helped prep!

Then there were presents.

We spent Christmas with the family in Texas. Unfortunately we forgot our camera but I did get this great video of the kids singing Jingle Bells with their cousins and Aunt Lorelei. Watch how Tilly just stares at Lorelei. And Tigger's 'Hey!' with a jump.

Santa

Santa visited day care again this year so Tigger and Tilly got their picture taken with him. Even with Papa TT right next to her Tilly was not thrilled. Poor Santa!

Tigger's First School Program

A few weeks ago, Tigger participated in his first school program. His school had a Festival of Lights complete with singing and celebration of many holiday traditions. The preschool class had a small part - they did the processional at the beginning of the program with stars they had made. Tigger did great walking!

Introducing Triple T

That's right folks, we're going for the triple T. We're expecting another Thomas - triple T to be exact. We're calling him Trip. Even though it's too early to tell the gender and we likely won't find out the gender, I'm confident I can predict it. We'll see come May!

Big Girl Bed

Last weekend Papa TT and I decided it was time for Tilly to graduate to a big girl bed. We got her the same kind of bed as Tigger, in a different color. She'll be in a big girl bed and will share a room with Tigger.

So last Saturday Papa TT got the bed out. Both kids got involved putting it together.

No fear:

And here is their new room! We still need to get Tilly a comforter and I really want to change the rug in the room, but it's looking pretty good!

We tried putting them in bed for the first time when we had friends over for dinner. That didn't work because they kept getting up and playing together and Papa TT and I were trying to enjoy the company of our friends. So we put Tilly in her crib and tried again the next day. Later that night we found Tigger asleep in Tilly's bed. He had pulled his pillow and comforter over there and fallen asleep!

The next night went much better with Papa TT and I able to give full attention to monitoring compliance with the 'Stay in your bed' rule. They now love sleeping in the same room but still take a little time to fall asleep. Ironically Tilly is the worst offender at getting out of bed constantly. I guess she's just so excited with her new found freedom.

Papa TT and I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving! We had a wonderful feast! Though we didn't travel so didn't see any family, we enjoyed the time with just the four of us.

Papa TT and I prepared quite a feast - Papa TT did the turkey, stuffing and green bean casserole. I did the mashed potoatos and pecan pie (my best ever, according to Papa TT).

After we finished eating the kids took turns saying 'Happy Thanksgiving.' So cute!

Tigger and Tilly both made Thanksgiving cards at school/day care so I filmed them telling me about them. I'm not sure which is cuter - Tilly knowing how to say her name ('Na-tha') or Tigger drawing a pacifier for Tilly.

Pumpkin Carving

Just in time for Halloween, Papa TT, Tigger, Tilly and I carved our pumpkins. Papa TT and I handled the knives; Tigger and Tilly helped with the markers.

Tigger decided he wanted his name on his pumpkin. It was kind of hard to carve but I think it turned out OK!

Fire fighter!

I meant to post this last weekend but I'm a bit behind.

Last weekend we headed out to the volunteer fire department where Tigger had his 3rd birthday party. They were having an open house and it was quite a show! There were activities for the kids, a silent auction fundraiser, and an equipment demonstration that involved the fire truck ladder. The kids loved it!

One of the activities for the kids was to play fire fighter with an actual hose. Tigger was a bit shy with the fire fighter but with Papa TT's coaxing he wielded the hose like a pro! Guess what he's going to be for Halloween....

Checkups

Last week Tigger and Tilly both had checkups and they're both doing great. Tilly had her 18 month checkup and Tigger had his 3 year checkup. Here are their stats:

Tilly

31 1/4 inches tall
21.4 lbs
18 1/2 inches head circumference

Tigger

39 inches tall
31.6 lbs

To check his development in several areas (speech, etc), the doctor had a short conversation with Tigger. It was so cute - I don't think I'd ever heard him have a conversation with another adult. He's getting so big! Here was the exchange:

Doctor: Hi, what's your name?
Tigger: (points to Tilly) That's Samantha
Doctor: I know, but what's your name?
Tigger: Caleb
Doctor: And how old are you?
Tigger: (holds up three fingers)
Doctor: Are you a boy or a girl?
Tigger: A boy
Doctor: And who's your bestest friend?
Tigger: (points to Tilly) Samantha

Aww......

And here are the kids on the way home from the doctor. We stopped for a few minutes so they could play at the fountain in Dupont Circle. They ran around in circles and both managed to dip their hands in the water, getting their sleeves wet all the way up to their elbows!

Fire Truck!

Tigger and Tilly were very cute on the fire truck the other day. They were actually riding on it together and when I got back from grabbing the camera, Tilly had gotten off:(

At the beginning of the video he says 'My brother gotta ride.' That's because before I started filming I asked Tilly if she was riding with her brother. Tigger gets his pronouns mixed up sometimes but he's very cute with the brother/sister thing.

And don't be concerned with the bandaid on Tigger's eye. He's obsessed with bandaids lately and demands them all the time. Nothing was actually wrong with him, I just gave in when he went digging in the drawer for them!

It's been quite a busy few days. Tigger started school then turned three. G-Ma and G-Pa T came into town and we had a great party at a nearby fire department.

Tigger's birthday started with present opening. Tilly and Papa TT helped:

Tigger loved his handyman dress up kit and Steelers jersey!

After presents it was time to head to the fire station for the party.

We had lots of balloons!

As usual, I made the birthday cake. This year I did cupcakes to make a fire hydrant. Not too shabby, but I couldn't get the icing red so Tigger had a pink fire hydrant.

The kids got a tour of the fire station...

..then a gear demonstration by fire fighter Eric.

Tilly was enthralled!

Then it was time for pizza and cupcakes. Everyone ate up!

First Day of School

Today was Tigger's first day of school! Our local elementary school offers not only a pre-k class but a preschool class for 3 year olds so we enrolled him and his first day was today!

He looked like such a big boy with his dinosaur backpack. He also has to wear a uniform - white top and blue bottoms. Both Papa TT and I and his teachers at day care have been prepping him for school so he was all ready to go.

He was a little hesitant in the big crowd of kids going in - he was definitely holding our hands. But then we got to his classroom and he was fine. Look at his cool classroom!

He followed the steps (with his name!)..

..to his cubby and put away his backpack.

Then breakfast came out and he was happy as a clam! We kissed him goodbye and headed out.

When we picked him up he was perfectly happy. His teacher said he was friendly, happy and told them about his baby Samantha at home. He did great and only Mama TT cried!

15 month checkup

Last month, Tilly had her 15 month checkup and all is well. She's still growing like a weed - tall and skinny like her daddy!

Weight: 19 lb 15 oz (10%)
Height: 30 7/8 inches (50 - 75%)

Water Play!

Each summer, Tigger and Tilly's day care hosts water play day on Fridays. They put inflatable pools on the playground and let the kids cool off. I was working from home last Friday so I ran up there to grab some pics of the kids.

When I got there, Tilly was dunking her pacifier in the pool and putting it in her mouth. Ugh.

But then she noticed me and was quite the ham, splashing away.

Quick pit stop on the bouncy see saw thing..

..then off to find big brother! I'm not sure who loves the water more - Tigger or Tilly!

This picture is of Caleb and his two best friends - the three of them have been together since they were 3 months old. They all started in the baby room around the same time and have stayed together as they transitioned from one room to the next.

And he's moved on!

Such a happy boy!

Happy Birthday America! We celebrated our country's birthday by lighting up some good old fashioned fireworks with the neighbors.

Tigger was a little unsure at first...

but warmed up and took part.

Though he took part he clung to Papa TT's shorts the whole time and quickly declared 'All Done.' Maybe he'll like it more next year!
