Farm Cams are all the Rage

2014-01-24T09:38:00.000-06:00

In Japan, urban-dwellers can rent a plot of agricultural land through the company MyFarm and tend to it when they can. And when they can't, technology steps in and lets them monitor their little seedlings via camera. It's like the beach cams, but you're actually being productive. I tried to poke around a bit on their website, but I couldn't successfully navigate to a camera page as I need to *brush up* on my Japanese. ... From this picture, it's clearly not hard on the eyes.. maybe I'll try it as my muse during meditation?

Now we've got sheep cams, farm cams, and beach cams... any predictions for the next big hit?

Modern Farmer

2014-01-15T14:05:00.003-06:00

While waiting in the checkout line at Whole Foods the other day, I picked up a copy of Modern Farmer, a new magazine (it only has 3 issues out so far) focusing on people and things participating in the global agricultural movement. It is a beautiful magazine with fascinating, progressive articles and impressive photography. Did I mention the section featuring contemporary farm fashion?

I just rewatched Luhrmann's version The Great Gatsby (2013) and came across this New Yorker review of it. It was exactly how I felt about the whole movie!
