Hi Tim,

I stumbled on your blog by way of your post about how to wash a Mexican Blanket. And then I discovered a wealth of other great information you’ve been posting about!

I completely agree with you when you say:

Maybe it’s just me but if I have a choice between failure and just getting by, I’d rather take the path of failure, redemption, and restoration than the path of the status quo.

I feel the same way. They say that “pain is weakness leaving the body,” and it’s true. Perhaps not instantaneously, but the healing that follows pain makes you stronger than ever. Pain and failure are absolutely necessary for personal growth. We should not fear life’s obstacles, but embrace them, for we become much better people because of them!

I can relate in a lot of ways. I often say that “I love people. I just don’t always like them.” Admitting that was good for me.

Sometimes I look around this city and think 2 things. 1) With the thousands of people running around the streets, NYC often looks like someone just kicked over an anthill. And 2) God loves every single one of them. For some reason, that makes it easier for me to as well.

I feel like there is some universal law that you are not allowed to dispose of photos. Photos take up little to no space, so you should definitely keep them! Isn’t that the one thing people try to save in a fire? I know the Fry Daddy & Magic Bullet bring back memories, but shouldn’t they go before the photos?. (wait, you should keep the Bullet for sure)

But you stated it so well, “the weakest moments on which I chose to forge a better future”… so profoundly true, and yes, often a choice you make.

I regret that I have never mastered the art of pancake-making; the first of the batter always turns out too greasy & close to burnt while the last of the batter (when I get tired of the process & just pour the remaining batter into the skillet to make a single huge pancake) always turns out thick, dry, & spongy… Also, omlettes are hard to make.

my johnny come lately 2 cents is this: i miss waking up to the sound of an early morning lawn mower and standing outside at 930pm to the sound of nothing; and of course drinking a cup of coffee on my private porch with the hometown’s mediocre newspaper. Crap, i sound like an old man already.
