'Near the River' is the name

Had a great time last night at Kaleid Gallery, I haven’t had a live painting for a while. I treasure every minute of it. Besides, I cannot really do the drip painting at my apartment since it will be messy on the floor. And my little apartment does not have room for me to have a studio there, so I was a totally happy with the outcome of the art. Title as “Near the River” Used house painting and acrylic together on a brown paper (packing paper).

drown ... pet peeves

Recently, I feel drown. What was that about? I have a lot of obstacles and struggles. I have been doing some custom toys (dunnies and munnies) and I almost finished one dunny and wanted to put on sale on my online store after the protective spray but the acrylic spray killed the dunny, now the paint all messed up and wrinkled. I was really upset about what I had done. I never had this experience before. The dunny was painted very carefully and colors are nice but now what had I done? I did not have any strength to draw because I wanted to rethink my drawing. Feel like I have been suffocated and drowning into a mud field. No luck on toy sale and of course, artwork, no one buys art nowaday except you are famous like Picasso or something, this is my pet peeves...

Take a long time to finish this work, it was from a sketch before. I have fun time with this painting but was a little worry about overworking since it is a watercolor. I think I made this into too opaque looking not really like the transparent personality of watercolors.

This week I am off, so I have more time to draw and meet some friends. I was in San jose Museum of Art yesterday with my buddy, Philip. Besides, it was an International Museum Day and was free. So we went there and checked out the exhibition and even got some postcards too. See picture below ...

*The right card from the picture was the print from one of my favorite painters, Wayne Thiebaud. So happy to get that print.

Today, I went to a different museum which is the Cantor Arts Center in Stanford. I was having fun there with my wife at the exhibition there called "Illustrated Title Page: 1500-1900." It was a cool exhibit because I saw a rare print from Goya there, go check it out if you like prints from Goya. If you like book illustrations at the old days, I recommended you to go there. A lot of etching, lithographs, etc. After the exhibit, I even sat down at the entrance and did some study of the sculptures at their front entrance. I feel happy of these two days' adventure.

My opening of new journal - Capture Me!

I was using my moleskines sketchbook for a while but it turns out I have a fear of the nice paper. Very heavy and elegant feel to it that makes me too much to bear when I do my drawing and collaging on my journal. So I restarted my journal at Canson journal which I feel more comfortable to do my drills.
