What made you consider Timberdoodle for the first time?

I was looking for secular homeschool kits, and Timberdoodle was one of the first companies listed in my searches. I was instantly drawn to the bright colors and how FUN it looked. As I dug deeper, I realized that this was the curriculum for us. It approached the subjects I wanted to teach. I, of course, weighed other options but at the end of the day, I felt as if Timberdoodle was exactly what I was looking for.

Before you decided to use Timberdoodle, what was your biggest obstacle or concern about using a Timberdoodle Curriculum Kit?

That I wouldn’t be able to figure out what to do with all of these things. But the online scheduler made it SO easy.

What helped you overcome that?

The online schedule generator.

If your friend decided to start homeschooling and felt overwhelmed, what would you tell her?

Take breaks through the day, and don’t do too much at once. We do school 4 days a week, but the beauty of homeschooling is that if something comes up, you actually do have weekends to complete work too (which we have utilized!). Just do your best!

Is there anything unique about your family that you’d like to share with us?

I have twin girls so I called Timberdoodle to customize our kit so we’d have double the workbooks but not double of EVERYTHING (such as text books, etc.). It worked out perfectly!

What made you consider Timberdoodle for the first time?

I stumbled upon Timberdoodle in my homeschool curriculum research online. I was instantly drawn to it. I just knew we had to give it a try. It really fit with our season of life. I was brand new to homeschool and wanted something that was all put together for me. I was overwhelmed by doing it on my own. Using Timberdoodle had given me so much confidence in my homeschooling abilities.

Before you decided to use Timberdoodle, what was your biggest obstacle or concern about using a Timberdoodle Curriculum Kit?

First, the cost. Second, would it be too much for us? I think it did end up being a little too much, but we learned how to work it to fit our life and schedule very quickly.

What helped you overcome that?

Honestly, my husband has a “no expense spared” point of view with our kids’ education, so he helped with that. Otherwise, I just decided to go for it.

If your friend decided to start homeschooling and felt overwhelmed, what would you tell her?

I actually have recommended Timberdoodle to overwhelmed moms. I think at the very least it’s an amazing starting point. But if they’re very overwhelmed, I always say start small. Go with the basics and just have fun.

Is there anything unique about your family that you’d like to share with us?

We’re secular. We like to think of ourselves as eclectic, with a strong influence from Charlotte Mason; and a lot of diverse types of thinking.

What made you consider Timberdoodle for the first time?

I needed a complete program. I have been continually amazed at how accessible and all encompassing the program is. My daughter attends online charter her teacher says it is a great program and she has EVERYTHING she needs! As a parent that is a relief. It is like Timberdoodle did all the research of all the best things in education from around the world and put it together. So grateful and worth EVERY penny.

Maybe the price if I had to pick something.

What helped you overcome that?

It is actually very reasonably priced if you consider time saved, the expertise of the people putting the program together. Years of homeschooling experience.

I would absolutely suggest Timberdoodle.

What made you consider Timberdoodle for the first time?

Timberdoodle offered such a nice variety of activities and hands-on learning materials that drew me to the curriculum. I also liked how I could customize the kit and substitute, add or delete items. I also liked the weekly schedule generator that I could customize which helps keep me on track each week and provides a record of what we completed each week.

Before you decided to use Timberdoodle, what was your biggest obstacle or concern about using a Timberdoodle Curriculum Kit?

I was a little intimidated with the number of items I chose in my kit.

What helped you overcome that?

I found a way to rotate the materials to make the number of items easier to manage. The weekly schedule checklist made the record keeping much easier as well.

If your friend decided to start homeschooling and felt overwhelmed, what would you tell her?

Start off slowly and gradually add new materials. You do not have to complete everything every week. Be flexible and follow the lead of your child. It makes it less stressful and a whole lot more fun!

Is there anything unique about your family that you’d like to share with us?

My child is the only child so we work with another family once a week who has the same curriculum from Timberdoodle. Their child is the same age as my son so he gets a chance to work with someone else and learn with someone else once a week. It also helps to have another mom to bounce things off of and share ideas of what works and what solutions can work for things that need a little adjustment.

What made you consider Timberdoodle for the first time?

This was my first year homeschooling. Neither my husband or I come from homeschooling families, so I felt incredibly intimidated. I looked at other curriculums, but they were 4 times the cost and seemed like they would require tons of work from me to prepare the lessons. Enter Timberdoodle! I found it on a random Google search and could tell I’d hit the jackpot. I loved being able to customize the curriculum kits and have been really pleased with nearly everything in the 2 kits I ordered.

I had no reservations about the kits. I only was concerned about customizing it in a way to best fit where my family is at right now.

If your friend decided to start homeschooling and felt overwhelmed, what would you tell her?

Homeschooling seems much harder than it is!

Is there anything unique about your family that you’d like to share with us?

We’ve been considering homeschooling for years, but kept telling ourselves we were too busy. But this year we took the leap – despite a cross-country move, an incredibly demanding job change for my husband and the birth of our 5th child. We are truly proof that homeschooling can work for you no matter how crazy your life is! Not only that, but it can be one of the best decisions you ever made.
