The Great War in Europe 1914 - 1918 (Deluxe Edition)

The Great War of 1914 - 1918 was a cataclysmic struggle that ranged from the flooded fields of Flanders to the scorching deserts of Arabia. It was a war of cavalry and trench warfare, massed infantry attacks and shock troop tactics. It was the war that introduced tanks, strategic bombing, submarine warfare, and poison gas. It toppled ancient dynasties, brought Lenin and his Bolsheviks to power, and saw America intervene for the first time on European battlefields.

The Great War in Europe: Deluxe Edition is a new, extensively revised and combined edition of two of Ted Raicer's most successful designs, The Great War in Europe (winner of two Charles S. Roberts Awards) and The Great War in the Near East. The divisional level order of battle includes infantry, cavalry, army headquarters (with attached artillery), German stosstruppen and Allied tanks. The three beautiful maps cover the battlefields of the Western Front, Russia, the Balkans, and the Near East (Egypt, the Caucasus, and modern-day Iraq).

The Great War in Europe Deluxe Edition contains many innovative features, including event chits that introduce new weapons, tactics, and political events into the game, Trench Levels for different nations at different points in the war that remove the need to place hundreds of trench markers on the maps, rules to cover the German U-boat campaigns and its effects on US neutrality, and the conversion of the Tsarist army to the weaker units of the demoralized Provisional Government after the fall of the Tsar.

Best of all, this is a rare monster game that two people can play to completion in a long weekend's gaming. That's because the maps divide the game into Eastern and Western fronts, allowing one player to move and attack in the east, while the other is moving and attacking in the west. No waiting around for 15 minutes while your opponent moves all his divisions, this mechanic effectively cuts playing time for two players (or teams) in half. The Great War in Europe Deluxe Edition has a hostr of one, two, and three map scenarios. You can play The Great War in Europe and the Near East separately or together, and play out each year of the war in its own scenario. Also, pre-war variant chits allow you to explore major What-Ifs (what if Teddy Roosevelt won the election of 1912?).

The mobilization orders have been given. The armies of the Imperial Europe are on the march. The course of History is your to direct...

Commands & Colors: Ancients allows you to re-fight epic battles of the ancient world. In this expansion, Alexander and his superb Macedonians take on the Persian and Indian hordes, formidible Greek phalanxes battle against their Roman rivals and Greek Syracusans fight against Carthaginians for control of Sicily.

Units in both armies can only move and fight when ordered. The command playing cards supply those orders, providing an element of luck that creates a fog of war and present players with both challenges and opportunities. You must maximize your opportunities by playing your command cards judiciously. How well you handle the diverse units, their weapons, and the terrain, will determine victory.

Time Well Spent's Thoughts

Expansion Notes: In order to play this expansion, you will need a copy of the basic Commands & Colors: Ancients game.

The Emperor Titus has called for the greatest celebration in Rome's history to commemorate the opening of the Colosseum - 100 days of the grandest spectacles the empire has ever seen. Citizens have flocked to the city by the thousands - enthralled by the sight of hundreds of gladiators in battle... rare and exotic animals prowling the arena floor... and to hear and see the greatest musicians and entertainers ever assembled.

As Rome's most famous impresario, you have been chosen to produce the closing finale. Titus himself has taken his seat in the Emperor's Loge. At the drop of his hand, the final spectacle will begin. Your moment in the sun has come...

In Colosseum you are a Roman Impresario - producing great spectacles in your arena in the hope of attracting the most spectators to your events. You'll earn wealth and glory for each event you run, using it to build ever more ambitious events. Attract the most spectators to one of your events and you'll be granted the title of Grand Impresario, with tales of your extraordinary spectacles acclaimed throughout the empire.

Something's afoot. The steward smiles at you like he has a secret, or like he thinks you have a secret, or like you think he thinks you have a secret. There are secret plots brewing, you're sure of it. At the very least, there are yours. a passing servant murmurs, "The eggs are on the plate". You frantically search your codebook for the translation before realizing he means that your breakfast is ready. Excellent. Everything is going according to plan.

Intrigue adds 25 new Kingdom cards to Dominion. There are victory cards that do some new things for you, underlings that give you a choice as to what they do, and a variety of other people and places. These cards can be played with the cards from the basic game or on their own. The rules include how to play a game with up to 6 players. By combining the money and victory cards with those in the basic game, players will have sufficient cards to play with more than 4 players.

Dominion: Hinterlands

The world is big and your kingdom small. Small when compared to the world, that is; it's moderate-sized when compared to other kingdoms. But in a big world like this one - big when compared to smaller worlds anyway, if such things exist; it's moderate-sized when compared to worlds of roughly the same size, and a little small when compared to worlds just a little larger - well, to make a long story short - short when compared to longer stories anyway - it is time to stretch your borders. You've heard of far-off places - exotic countries, where they have pancakes but not waffles, where the people wear the wrong number of shirts, and don't even have a word for the look two people give each other when they each hope that the other will do something that they both want done but which neither of them wants to do. It is to these lands that you now turn your gaze.

This is the 6th addition to the game of Dominion. It adds 26 new Kingdom cards to Dominion, including 20 Actions, 3 Treasures, 3 Victory cards, and 3 Reactions. The central theme is cards that do something immediately when you buy them or gain them.

Dominion: Hinterlands is an expansion, and cannot be played by itself; to play with it, you need Dominion, or a standalone expansion to Dominion (e.g., Dominion: Intrigue). Those provide the Basic cards you need to play (Treasure, Victory, and Curse cards), as well as the full rules for setup and gameplay.

Dominion: Hinterlands can also be combined with any other Dominion expansions you have. We hope you enjoy this expanding world of Dominion!

It seemed like the summer would never end, but that fortune teller was right. It's over. Autumn, the time of the harvest. Agriculture has advanced significantly in recent years, ever since the discovery of the maxim, "leaves of three, let it be." Autumn, a time of celebration. The peasants have spent a hard week scything hay in the fields, but tonight the festivities begin, starting with a sumptuous banquet of roast hay. Then, the annual nose-stealing competition. Then you have two jesters, one who always lies, one who always tells the truth, both hilariously. This celebration will truly have something for everyone.

This is the 5th addition to the game of Dominion. It adds 13 new Kingdom cards to Dominion, plus 5 unique cards. The central theme is variety; there are cards that reward you for having a variety of cards in your deck, in your hand, and in play, as well cards that help you get that variety.

Today the name is no less respected and stories of the Samurai myths and legends have become more and more popular. In Japan, there were three SAMURAI forces: Peasants, clergy and nobility. The way to power in old Japan led through the peasants, the clergy, and the nobility. To become a SAMURAI, one had to be supported by one of these forces and have strong connections to the other two.

Samurai is the latest game from award-winning author Reiner Knizia. The three forces are represented by rice fields, Buddhas and high helmets. They are presented in molded plexiglass, finely polished and noble black. The board comes in four pieces, representing the four major Japanese islands. To win, players must skillfully position their forces to gain the majority surrounding the cities and villages to capture figures.

The game consists of several rounds in which players use unusual worker placement mechanisms (players simultaneously prepare different sized groups of imps in order to play sooner than others). To become the leader of imp family that has just started a new business, they will have to prepare themselves for the uneasy task of raising creature cubs and pleasing their different needs represented by cards in order to sell them as grown scary creatures to Dungeon Lords. In the meantime they also attend various contests in which they show off their pets, scoring additional points.

Unfurl the banners of the Great Houses of Westeros! To secure power in the Seven Kingdoms and to ensure the survival of their lines, the Houses of Westeros each follow very different paths. Some forge strategic alliances, some create complex political intrigues, and still others use deceit and betrayal. But there is no more direct or lasting path to power than taking to the field of battle. Will you heed the call?

In Battles of Westeros, two players can participate in the military conflicts set in the fantasy series A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin. Players can take part in the battles directly from the books or make their own fantasy battles.

Welcome to Battles of Westeros, where you'll take part in the struggle for the Iron Throne like never before.

Revolution!: The Palace (5-6 Player Expansion)

Welcome to The Palace!

In Revolution!, three or four players matched wits. Now, with The Palace, up to six can join the bribing, blackmailing, and backstabbing!

The Palace is a new location which fits on the Revolution! board. It's worth 55 Support at the end of the game, and has a special space: the Guardhouse. The player who controls the Guardhouse is immune to the Spy and the Apothecary!

Also included are six new bidding boards, adding four new characters. The Viceroy controls the Palace. The Messenger moves your influence cubes from their location to any unoccupied space. The Mayor influences any open space. The Constable rewards a winning bid with a bit of Support and Blackmail.

This expansion also includes purple and orange blocks, bidding shields, and score tokens for the fifth and sixth players.

The Palace increases the maximum number of Revolution! players to six. The new rules can be taught in minutes, and a complete game still takes less than an hour.

Time Well Spent's Thoughts

Note: This is an Expansion for Revolution!, It is not a Stand-Alone Game.

Winter is coming.

All the hunters boasted of their prowess, but you boasted the loudest. Now you have to deliver . . .

In Nanuk, each player bids for how long he can stay on the trail and how much he will bring home. Each boast must be greater than the one before, until one hunter refuses to raise the bid, saying "You're doomed!" Then the hunt begins. Will the hunt leader make good on his boast, or will the doomers be right? Every player decides secretly to help . . . or to let it fail.

Beware Nanuk, the great polar bear, who can end any hunt in failure. If you find an inuksuk, it will protect you - once. If the hunt is successful, the hunters share the animals collected. But if the hunt fails, the doomers score instead.

Nanuk is a fast-playing, highly social game of bidding and bluffing for 5 to 8 players.
