Interval International welcomes Canyon Woods Grand International Vacation Club to its global network. The club is comprised of three timeshare resorts in the Philippines. The resort in Metro, Tagaytay has grown from a 475-acre complex to 750 acres with a high-rise luxury resort known as The Peak at Canyon Woods Resort Club. The Canyon de Boracay on Boracay Island and Canyon Cove Hotel in Western Batangas on the South China Sea will join to form the vacation club. The Peak at Canyon Woods Resort Club is set in the mountains about 2,000 feet above sea level and overlooks the Taal Volcano and Taal Lake. The Peak features 167 timeshare ownership guest rooms, most offering panoramic views of the volcano and lake. Timeshare owners will also have access to amenities throughout the resort including a golf course, spa, sports courts, and swimming pools. The Canyon de Boracay is a highly rated resort on the “party island of Asia” and the Canyon Cove is a beachfront resort located on the South China Sea.

The opening follows a multi-million refurbishment that transformed the 45-bedroom Hilton hotel into 32 vacation club suites for its timeshare members. Hilton has seen a significant increase in the number of Europeans joining its vacation club, so the refurbishment is well timed. The property has a fascinating history, built in 1891 as the country home of the Keiller family of the Dundee marmalade magnates. It is estimated that around 30% of its ownership will be from Scotland, 40% from the rest of the United Kingdom, and 30% from overseas, with the USA a key target market. The resort was a Stakis hotel until it was bought by Hilton in 1999.

Greece expects to attract a record 17 million international visitors this year

International tourist arrivals at the country’s 16 largest airports have risen significantly by 9.3% to 6.9 million during the first seven months of 2013. The new organization that represents the country’s tourism industry, Marketing Greece, says Greece is on track to draw a record 17 million visitors by the end of the year spending millions of dollars. There’s more optimism on the horizon, as new figures from the Hellenic Statistical Authority reveal that the boost from tourism is more robust than originally estimated. Greece’s GDP (gross domestic product) contracted by 3.8% in the second quarter which was lower than the 4.6% decline which many had anticipated. This good news marks the smallest year-to-year decrease in the Greek economy since 2010, which means Greece can now hope to return to a year of growth in 2014 following six years of contraction.

A new Hilton Grand Vacations Club resort is planned for Myrtle Beach

, which will be constructed in the place of a demolition of the two beach view towers on the 2200 block of North Ocean Blvd. The location is between Schooner II Beach and Racquet Club and the Boardwalk Hotel, which is prime territory for a timeshare resort. Construction of a new 22-story, 230 unit building is expected to begin in mid-October with an estimated build-out date of July 2015. The estimated cost of the entire project is $41.5 million. Hilton already has the Hilton Grand Vacations Club at Anderson Ocean Club located a few blocks away at 2600 N. Ocean Blvd.
