We had a large increase last year - see previous post. However, if sterling continues to drop, it will make payments more expensive as we are now billed in euros! At the moment is is about the same rate as last year, but who knows what it will be like in January. In total, last year, we paid �1969.56 in 3 monthly installments - slightly less than anticipated due to the exchange rate fluctuations.

Selling CLC points

The ever-increasing annual fees for both fixed weeks and points at CLC does not help. Holidaywatchdog forum is full of complaints about CLC and their sales techniques so perhaps the new sales are drying up as well!!

Perhaps it is the CLC Members website (www.clcmembers.co.uk) - run by owners for other owners - that has been mentioned above.

CLC MAINTENCE

Several interesting things though. First - if you haven't been warned already, they have suddenly introduced a new rule that says that any attempt to leave must be completed by September 30th of the year in which you wish to resign. So if you want to leave before the 2010 year starts - tough! they require 28 days etc and that will expire before the end of the month. So you'll have to take the costalot option when they demand more money for 2010 as they will say you've missed the deadline for leaving.
Second, when we sold our membership to Club Greece we were advised that we could take our outstanding points in the following year as the maintenance charges relate to our existing points, not to the new points we buy each year. This one looks doubtful to me, but a different rep was adamant this year that if you pay your maintenance fees for 2009 that relates to your membership points for 2008, not your new membership points. CLC don't accept this (of course). Has anyone else been able to use their outstanding points in the year after they have paid their final maintenance subs? It's making me nervous about Club Greece, but I suppose the main point in their favour is that the points you buy are RCI points, and their own charges are small (at least in comparison with CLC). Maybe if you can't get rid of the points by selling them second-hand then getting them taken off you by transferring to another lot might be a way out if you are looking for one?

We too endured a CLC presentation a few years back and basically fell for the hype.
We got our two 'free' weeks out of it, during the first of which we had to attend another presentation at which they pointed out they'd not really sold us enough points in the first place to be able to give us a week a year at peak time, and so maybe we'd like to buy some more!! Eh...I don't think so. And boy were they dis-chuffed when we dug our heels in - their attitude bordered on the aggressive. We actually felt quite uncomfortable.
While there (Costa del Sol) we spoke to another couple who'd 15,000 points (think of the maintenance charge on that lot!!) and couldn't physically take enough holidays to use them!
The resorts are lovely and the apartments superb, but, no, the numbers don't stack up.
My advice - avoid presentations like the plague. There's no such thing as a free 'lunch' in this game! And if you do go, leave all means of payment at home so you won't be tempted.

For weeks owners, CLC are now asking for 12 months notice of giving up weeks. I don't know if that applies to all of their resorts. You should check out the constitution of the resort you own at and see what it says about the resort 'taking back' weeks. Although CLC seem to be making up the rule as they go along.

CLC Vacation Club points owners are expected to give at least 28 days notice. Customer Services are suggesting that notice of 'surrender' needs to be given by 1 October before invoices are issued.

Golfer1, did you pay any transfer fees when you transferred your ownership?

This is my first post, so I hope I'm doing it right!

I've just got back from a CLC holiday at Loryma in Turkey - it was a bit of a disaster as there was no air-conditioning in bedroom no. 2, so my son was unable to sleep in that room - he had to use the sofa bed in the lounge, so in effect we had a 1-bedroom apartment. We had to keep our bedroom door open to try to let some cool air into the lounge, so no privacy - grrr!

I called CLC to complain and ask for some compensation (on-site rep told us to do that)on the grounds that we had been told in advance that both bedrooms would be air-conditioned, but they refused to accept they had done anything wrong.

Anyone else had a similar experience?

I received a call from CLC a couple of weeks ago. It seems my wife responded to a 'Holiday Questionnaire' whilst at a new shopping centre!!
