Three Fun Resources!

Last issue I mentioned we had just installed Rainwater Tanks and then it didn't rain for weeks. Enthused, we then installed a Solar Hot Water System. Yep, it's rained ever since, so we haven't been able to gauge how effective the panel is.

WordPress

I know lots of you use WordPress for your Blogs & Websites. I really like this new "skin" you can wrap around YouTube and Flash Video clips. There's an Ipad, Iphone, Retro TV etc. The install was very simple, even I could do it.

Let Me Google That For You

This is a bit of fun, but I can actually see it working quite nicely for a marketing campaign! Have a look and see what you can come up with.

Set up as a response to people who ask simple questions that they could easily look up the answer for themselves. For instance if someone asked me via email or on a forum "Where is Hazelbrook NSW?" I could reply with this link

Mind Hack

I'm sure you've all had this experience. Struggling to solve a problem, you go and ring up a person you think will be able to help. Just as you start explaining the problem, the solution comes to you.

Stating out loud or writing down the problem in as clear a manner as you can, will often get you to a solution quickly. Try and state the problem in different ways. This will produce even more solutions.

Just back from a short trip to Fiji. Took these shots around the village of Dravuni, part of the Kadavu Group of Islands.

Great place. Friendly folk. Looking forward to going back next year.

Worpdress Plugin

There's quite a bit of buzz around Traffic Player at the moment that makes a screen around your YouTube clips.

It's a plugin for Wordpress and you can make it look like a computer, iPad, Ipod etc.

More Brilliant Resources!

A few weeks at home. Installed a new rainwater tank to supply our washing machine and toilets. Predictably it hasn't rained since. Next job is to install a Solar Hot Water system. We also disconnected one of our land line telephones last week. Are you detecting a theme here?

Dropbox PLUS Evernote!

I mentioned Dropbox last issue and had quite a few responses. Either people thanking me for the link or people telling me they've been using it for years and how fab it is. Check it out here http://db.tt/t7AChOG

I've now moved my main Office & Project working files into it. No more swapping files around and trying to sync updates between desktop and laptop. One of strong features is that you don't need to be online to use the files as with some cloud services.

A brilliant companion to Dropbox is Evernote. It's also free at a basic level and this is possibly all you will need. Similar concept but designed for quick grabs of info, bookmarks, photos, screen shots, to do lists, etc etc. http://www.evernote.com

IPAD2 ?

I was keen for a while to get one and probably still will, but frankly I think I'm over it. Having to hunt down someone who has stock every day and then hopefully get there to secure one is ridiculous. Aussie readers who are after one might like to check out the always informative forum at Whirlpool. Tim Reid from http://smallbusinessbigmarketing.com uses the same successful formula that has made that podcast the number 1 on iTunes and is joined in these by James Schramko .
