This is totally a late blog post, but I found this in my drafts and realized I never got a chance to post it! Now that summer vacation's started, I'm excited for outdoor restaurant seating. Homeslice was the perfect place to go to on a 70-degree April day. Jen got the Special-K pizza while I opted for the Zephy pizza, it was a delicious treat for such a beautiful day!

I can't wait to come back again at nighttime for drinks with my besties! x

Photo Diary: Sunday Brunch + My Big's Baby Shower

Ended my spring break with an eventful day full of good food and good company. Before heading to Geri's baby shower, Victoria and I grabbed a delicious brunch at Bryn Mawr Breakfast Club. This was our first time there, I was really impressed with the ambiance and how inexpensive each entree was (~$10). My stack of multigrain blueberry hotcakes definitely hit the spot, no doubt I'll be back for more. This is definitely a place to check out if you're on the Northside of Chicago!

It's been about two months since I've seen my big and I was really excited to see how much her belly has grown. Despite the fact that she's carrying a human life in her, she still looked as flawless as ever! (Have you ever seen a pregnant woman so lovely? It's not fair!) Her baby shower dress was from ASOS Maternity, I loved how chic and put together her whole outfit was.

We spent the rest of the afternoon eating, playing games, and sharing some laughs. I'm so happy and excited for her, I know that her son is going to be one lucky baby! Congrats biggie! x

Today on Instagram, I posted a photo of my new wall of fashion-related quote prints that I created last night in a spur-of-the-moment-late-night-burst-of-creativity. I thought I would share these as a freebie on my blog, use them however you'd like! Just click on the one you like, open image in a new tab, and "save image as" to your computer. Each image is 8.5" x 11", perfect for printing on computer paper. I used black and white polka dot washi tape to hang them up, but I think they would look really cool framed as well. Enjoy!

Valentine's Day Gift Guide: For Her

Valentine's Day is nearing and I'm sure some of us still need to shop over the weekend for the perfect gift. Any some ideas? I got you covered!

Cute and Cozy: Since it's still quite cold outside, why not warm her up with some knitted items? Knitted headbands are a cute and practical way to shield your ears from the harsh wind. The scarf as a nice monogrammed detail, making your gift much more personable. And mittens with "I <3 U" on them are cute and toasty way to keep you on her mind. Along with this, you can add a cute little note that says, "I hope these warm you up like how you warm my heart!" (#cheesy)

Pretty in Pink: Add a little pink in her life! It's so easy to get mixed into the monochromatic style for wintertime, but adding these cute little accessories into an outfit can change everything! Pink jewelry might be exactly what she needs to get out of the wintertime black and white rut (I'm definitely guilty of this, year-round though)!

The remaining pink items are simple items that will remind her of you! A pink fragrance is also a nice touch for your lady for Valentine's, she'll be sure to think of you every time she wears it.

Keep it Classy: These are obviously classical Valentine's Day gifts, but they are classic for a reason! You can't go wrong with any of them! I would say that the only thing I expect for on Valentine's Day is a heartfelt hand-written card. Also, I'm a sucker for a red roses, so fellas, be sure to get your lady some!

Getting Technical: This last set of gifts if for a girl who loves her technology. Specifically her phone! Again, I decided to go for pink-colored items to go along with the theme. Frends headphones are getting really popular and are super sleek and stylish too. A phone case, or even better a personalized phone case, would be a nice addition to her collection. And lastly, a spare phone charger, preferably in her favorite color. It's an OMG! moment if she cannot check her Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter! I can't tell you how many times I wished I had one to keep on me at all times (if she already has a spare, get her a portable charger).

Hope you found some ideas on what to get for this coming Valentine's Day! Watch out for a gift guide for him later this weekend! And when in doubt, make her something! I would love it if my boyfriend made me some delicious sweets!

Personally, care a lot more about spending time with that special someone rather than the presents. You can spend as much or as little as you want, the important thing is for her to feel special on Valentine's Day, as well as the 364 other days of the year! So remember to keep that in mind! (:

DIY Sharpie Mug

Hi all!

I've been wanting to post up this Do-It-Yourself for a couple weeks and haven't gotten to it until now! I recently gifted this mug to someone for Christmas. I know Christmas is well over now, but this would be a cute gift for a friend or to keep for yourself. I'm sure people have seen DIY Sharpie mugs, but I just wanted to share the techniques I used and how it came out.

The mug I chose to make was based off of this grumpy cat one off of Amazon. It was on my little's, wish list, but I was definitely not willing to pay $16 for it! I thought I could recreate it and personalize it with her nickname (her real name is Christina), and voilà, a cute grumpy cat mug made just for Emi! Here's how I did it!

All these materials will be needed. You might need to print out the image in several sizes depending on how big or small you want it on your mug. Also, if you don't have acetone (or nail polish remover), you may use rubbing alcohol or distilled vinegar!

*Side note: I used a black marker because I know that the color would not change after baking. Make sure you do some research on your marker color in case it'll change after baking!

This first step is crucial! Make sure you clean off the surface of your mug. Use the cotton pads or cotton balls soaked in your cleaning agent. This will help get any dirt or oils off of your mug to ensure that the ink will stick!

Next, using your pencil, you will need to shade the back of that image you've printed out. This is the trick in creating a carbon copy-esque transfer.

Adhere your image exactly where you want it. Be careful to not touch the surface of the mug with your hands, we want to avoid a dirty surface!

To do this next step, simply trace over the image with your pencil to transfer the graphite onto the surface of the mug.

Using your permanent marker, trace over the transfer copy. If you happen to make a mistake, you can quickly go back on top of it with your acetone and wipe it off. Wait for it to completely dry and then work over that area again. Add any other details you want!

I copied the "~~Good~~ Morning" and added her name under it.

This last step is super important!

Pop your mug into the oven and bake it at 425°F for 30 minutes. Do *NOT* pre-heat your oven! After baking, crack the oven door open until the mug has cooled, removing it beforehand can result in cracking. Lastly, wait at least 24 hours before using/washing your mug!

Music Monday: Cherub

Whaddup, happy MLK day!

Today, I wanted to make a post about one of my 2013 band discoveries, Cherub. Cherub is a two-man band consisting of Tennessee natives, Jordan Kelley and Jason Huber. I first heard of them when I was going through the North Coast Music Festival (2013) lineup and decided to give them a listen. When I heard their music, I would've never guessed that this electro-pop band was made up of only two people. I personally think that they have a fresh sound and Jordan's falsetto is just too good. If you're into artists like RAC and Ghostland Observatory, this will be your cup of tea!

My friend Chelsea and I got to see them live (front row!) at North Coast and they give a stellar, high-energy performance. You can really vibe out and feel the music dancing through their veins. Recently, I found that they created a music video for their song "Heartbreaker" while they were in Chicago. The video is a montage clips of them performing at Lollapalooza and North Coast (which means I'm here somewhere, I'm just not sure where) this past summer.

Doses and Mimosas is one of there most popular songs and has a really catchy tune! And lastly I wanted to share XOXO, because it has *fun* lyrics, haha. What's in My Makeup Bag? { Travel Essentials }

Today, I'm going on a winter retreat with my sorority! Although I'm sad this is my last weekend of winter break, I'm super excited to see all my sisters after going weeks without them.

Tomorrow morning, we're going to be taking photos as a group, so it's probably best if I bring along some dependable makeup with me, haha. The makeup bag that I always use is this rose gold colored one by Betsey Johnson that I got eons ago, it is so convenient and fits so much stuff into it. I will only be away for one night, and tried my best to take along only the essentials. I more than likely will not be using all of these products, but I like to be prepared! (;

For eyes, I thought I would bring along my Lorac Pro Palette, this palette is great for every day wear while giving me a whole lot of options. I'm can be very indecisive, so having options is important to me when I'm staying somewhere overnight. As usual, I brought my eyeliner, brow pencil and gel, holy grail mascara, and a lash curler.

I am bringing with me some essential eye brushes from Sigma, an Expert Face brush by Real Techniques, and my favorite little kabuki brush from ELF (it's only $6!). Since I'll only be gone for one day, storing them with Brush Guard sleeves is an easier alternative to lugging them with me in a brush roll. I really recommend Brush Guard because the sleeves keep your brushes in great shape after cleansing them and is great for keeping them sanitary as well.

Keeping my face makeup light, I am bringing my L'Oreal BB Cream and Benefit Erase Paste. I'm certain that we will be up late, and I'm going to have to hide those dark under eye circles with a good coverage concealer! My Nars blush in 'Madly' is also coming along with me on this trip just to add some life back into my face after a long night.

Lastly, I'm going to be bringing my deodorant (for obvious reasons, haha), moisturizer, allergy relief eye drops, eye cream, lip balm, and makeup wipes. The Origins GinZing eye cream is going be a life saver and hide my tiredness after tonight's sleepover. Not pictured is face wash and my toothbrush, which would be really gross if I didn't bring it! One of the worst things in life is probably forgetting to pack your toothbrush, lol!

I've been on the hunt for one and finally found one by Color Club in the color 'Harp On It' from their Holographic Hues collection. My sister and I decided to also buy the colors 'Blue Heaven' (blue undertone) and 'Revvvolution' (charcoal base), which are awesome holographic in different hues. I'm a huge fan of the whole holographic trend right now and can't wait to paint my nails with this next!

My friend, Kyla, and I went out to Ulta yesterday, I accompanied her on her search for a bb cream and eyeshadow palette (she came out with much more than that, haha). After looking around, I decided that I should put my $3.50 off of $10 coupon to good use! I picked up a Precision makeup blending sponge and a new NYX sharpener for eye pencils and such. I kind of bought the sponge on a whim, but thought it would be worth a try since I haven't tried any other before. When I came home, I looked online for reviews and saw that some people said it's comparable to the Beauty Blender. I really hope that is the case and it meets my expectations!

After going to Ulta, we headed over to Target (our favorite!) to grab a couple of items. I couldn't help but pick up the miniature-sized bottle of Justin Bieber's 'Girlfriend', it was on sale and the packaging is just too cute!

Later on in the day, I went with my cousin, Becky, to Sephora to look for some very very late Christmas presents. I left with a repurchase of the Anastasia Brow Wiz and their NARS 500-point perk!

The set comes with four minis. Larger Than Life lipgloss in 'Gold Digger', Illuminator in Copacabana, Pro Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base, and blush in 'Orgasm', which I probably will not use because it's so cute and tiny! I really like how they thought it through and included something for your eyes, lips, and face.

I've been saving up my points for something good to come out and I'm glad I did. If you've been saving up too head to Sephora soon before they're all out of this cute little set! Becky liked it so much she asked if she could redeem her points for it without purchasing anything. Fortunately, they allow it and we came out with huge smiles on our faces :P

What's In My Bag?

Welcome to the inside of my purse!

I think it's so fun to see what's inside of other people's bags and wallets, so I wanted to share with everyone what's in mine! I usually carry smaller bags around, but when I have a large one to carry around it gets dangerously full. This is what I keep in my bag, winter edition! (:

This Michael Kors Large Hamilton Tote was gifted to me this past Christmas by my wonderful boyfriend. I was so surprised when I opened the box, he really did a wonderful job on picking out such a beautiful bag (and I an forever grateful)! The navy blue color is gorgeous and changes with the light. It features two top handles and one chained shoulder strap for versatility. It's extra roomy inside and has enough space to even my large cameras! Overall, I'm beyond happy with the quality, design, and functionality of this purse. {insert 'heart eyes' emoji here}

Lately, it's been cold, so I've had a few extra essentials with me in case of emergency situations, including knitted Urban Oufitters gloves and Lorac eyeliner (if you count runny eyeliner as an emergency, hehe). The Sephora mirror comes in extra handy to check if any smudgy eye makeup or even checking your teeth for after meals. :X And of course my iPhone is always with me, gotta check Instagram and Twitter! The clear case protects it while look sleek and clean.

A purse cannot be complete without your keys! My keys hold my school ID, CTA UPass, countless rewards cards, and a couple of keychains (gifted Vera Bradley anchor charm from my little and 'I <3 B' London souvenir from Vivian). The pills you see are just Allegra allergy meds for when my allergies get out of hand, especially with Chicago's weather always changing. And two more items to fight the cold are a hand cream (gifted from Ploy) and cute winter Forever 21 knit headband to keep my ears warm.

Music Monday: Lorde - Pure Heroine

Today is a chilly, -13 degree (srsly?!) Monday afternoon. I'm not planning on leaving the house to embrace the wrath of Chiberia's weather, so here I am relaxing at home with some soothing music.

Right now, I cannot get enough of 17-year-old Ella Yelich-O'Connor, better known by her stagename, Lorde. Her album Pure Heroine is a favorite at the moment. I'm sure everyone has gotten a bit sick of hearing the song "Royals" on the radio (as radio stations continue to murder great songs by their endless repeat of the same five songs), but I promise you her album is awesome! There's something unique about her lyrics that keep me so engage with her songs, but I can't quite put my finger on it. If someone knows what it is, please let me know! (;

One of my favorites off this album is "Buzzcut Season," it has a mesmerizing melody. Her performance on Letterman was raw emotion, you can really see how she feels her music and embodies it in a somewhat "weird" dance (as some like to call it). I get goosebumps when I see videos of her live performances.

If you already love Lorde, you should check out some of the remixes to her songs! This one is the Ryan Hemsworth remix of her song, "Ribs" (props to my friend Chelsea for sharing this with me!). Even Lorde herself tweeted this remix to her followers!

13 Beauty Favorites of 2013

This past year, I discovered many new beauty products and thought it would be fun to make a compilation of 13 of my favorite beauty products of 2013! These products are the ones that I tried in 2013 and used religiously throughout the year, enjoy!

01. Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz (Brunette) - This year I started in filling my brows on a daily basis and this was definitely my go-to product. It features a fine-tip pencil on one end and a spooly on the other, making it quick and easy to get your brows on and out the door! Along with this product, I love using Anastasia Brow Gel to set them in place.

02. L'Oreal Magic BB Cream (Medium) - I first saw this product featured on one of Carly Cristman's monthly favorites video. This BB Cream starts off as a white liquid, but once you apply it onto your face, it automatically blends in to match your skintone. This has medium to light coverage and is great for every day use, especially in the summer for lighter coverage.

03. Real Techniques Expert Face Brush - This year I fell in love with the Real Techniques line of brushes. They're great quality and at an afforadble price too! Real Techniques is created by Samantha Chapman of the sister duo known as Pixiwoo on Youtube. The 'Expert Face' brush is great for applying on foundation as well as contour, which is what I mostly use it for. Definitely give them a try if you're on the hunt for new quality brushes.

04. Maybelline EyeStudio Color Tattoo 24Hr Eyeshadow (Pomegranate Punk) - These Color Tattoo cream eyeshadows are awesome as a base to layer other shadows on top of or to wear alone, if you're in a hurry. I have them in several colors (six to be exact!), 'Bad to the Bronze' is another top favorite shade!

05. Tarte Clean Slate 360° Creaseless 12-Hr Smoothing Eye Primer - I've tried many eye primers before, but this one is my favorite by far. I tend to have oily eyelids, and this primer keeps my eyeshadows from creasing and looking vibrant all day. Even UD's Primer Potion cannot compare!

06. Too Faced Shadow Insurance Glitter Glue Glitter Bonding Eye Shadow Primer - This past year, I started going to EDM shows and glitter is definitely mandatory for eyeshadow looks. Too Faced's Glitter Glue does exactly what it says, glues glitter onto your lids and keeps your loose glitter from falling out! This one is great to layer over eyeshadow or to use directly on the lid.

07. Rosebud Perfume Co. Strawberry Lip Balm - This is my favorite lip balm of all time, and I feel naked if I leave the house without it! It lasts for a whole year, no more losing small chapsticks! I would also recommend the Rosebud Salve Lip Balm if you're not a fan of strawberry scents (but really, who doesn't like strawberry scented things?!).

08. Revlon Grow Luscious Lash Potion Waterproof Mascara (Blackest Black) - This past year I found my holy grail mascara! I didn't think it was possible since my lashes are stick straight, but this mascara lengthens, volumizes, and holds a curl. It's very buildable and the waterproof formula stays on all day, definitely recommend if you have lashes similar to mine.

09. Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette - I received this palette from my roommates for Christmas last year and have been using it on a daily basis ever since. Matte eyeshadows are my favorite and the colors are great for a neutral everyday look. The black eyeshadow ('Crave') in this palette isn't as intense and bold as UD's 'Blackout' so it's the perfect black for a more natural eye look.

10. Origins GinZing Energy-Boosting Moisturizer - I never used any sort of eye cream before 2013, but I'm really glad I did! I tried a sample for a little over a month before committing to a full sized jar. This moisturizer instantly brightens my eyes after applying it in the morning, getting rid of a noticeable amount of darkness under my eyes. Works great and is awesome for mornings after those late nights you've been up studying!

11. Tarte Eyelash Curler - Along with my Revlon Lash Potion Mascara, this curler keeps my lashes curled all day! It has a very comfortable design with good grip. It also comes with a mini Lights, Camera, Lashes! Mascara. Definitely repurchasing!

12. Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil Light/Medium Matte Bronzer - I've always wanted to try this bronzer and it's chocolate scent was hard to resist! This bronzer is the perfect color for contouring for people with medium to light skin tones. It's completely matte, which I love, and is long lasting! I use this in the hollows of my cheeks and along the bridge of my nose.

13. Benefit Cosmetics Watt's Up - I don't even have the full-sized version of this product, but this mini one has definitely done me justice. It's the perfect highlight for the high points of your face and really makes your face dewy and fresh looking. I'm going to buy the full-sized one once I run out of this mini one!

Today was quite uneventful, I had to go to the salon for extra help and ended up going home early. Being at home lead me to taking photos of my outfit for today (: I am about to leave to bring the boyfriend some food while he's at work, and then I'm off to babysit!

I finally got a pair of Disco Pants from American Apparel! I had a voucher, which took off $25 dollars on my purchase. So I paid about $60 for them, which is a good deal compared to other prices I've seen floating around! I am honestly so happy. I feel like I'm going to wear these so often, but I don't care, I love them so much! This is my first real "investment" piece of clothing that I have. I'm going to wear these for years to come, and hopefully I can add a navy blue pair to it! (;

After Rizelle and I finally made our purchases, we headed over to Sprinkles for a free dark chocolate cupcake. It was a perfect day.

I re-organized up my vanity and managed to keep it clean! I'm the type of girl that loves getting ready, so having a good set up is essential, haha. I've had this vanity for over ten years now, and I'm looking to replace it soon (as sad as that sounds). Alright, I'm done rambling .. Our sisterhood winter retreat was very fun! I love these girls, and although some minor drama might have happened, we all worked through it. It was fun spending two whole days with these crazys, I love them to death (:

Ended up going to Lickity Split on Broadway for some frozen custard. We all got butter pecan custard, it was so good, and for a great price too! I couldn't get over how cute the place was. The candy jars were adorable and their cupcakes and baked goods look amazing! (: I'm definitely going to pick up some goodies for my valentine from here :D

It was also my biggie's 25th birthday on Sunday! We went out for some Hooters downtown. The food was delicious, but I must say the service absolutely SUCKED. We saw about three pregnant waitresses there, which was really weird, haha. Our waitress was just horrible, and we ended up staying there forever waiting because of a mix up with our receipt. It was still a good night nonetheless. I'm still tired from the retreat! It was very worth it though, I love my sisters (:

The weekend was particularly hard for me, going through personal problems and such, but I'm glad everyone helped me through it. And now, I'm happy. Things need to get worst before they get better.
