I created these cards for a class featuring stamps, dies, embossing folder and patterned paper from the Kintsugi Inspirations suite of products from Stampin’ Up! These products make it easy to create elegant and peaceful birthday, get well, or sympathy cards.

For the first card I was inspired by a design made by Susan Campfield, a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator in the USA. I adapted the design to suit the standard Australian card size, which is A6, or 14.8cm x 10.5cm for the base, using Misty Moonlight cardstock.

I cut 2 strips of one sheet of the gorgeous Kintsugi Inspirations Designer Series Paper to fit on each end of the base, and sponged the edges of the paper with Misty Moonlight ink using a dauber. There is a central piece of Basic White card that forms a concertina style hinge and the front panel is attached to that. On the front panel I adhered another design from the paper pack, sponging the same blue ink around the edges to add a subtle shading.

The vase on the front of the card and the cup on the inside panel are die cut from another sheet of the Designer Series paper with the coordinating dies from the set. The dies also include a couple of fracture lines, which look very effective when die cut from gold foil card. I added one of the fracture lines to the vase to add texture. The sentiment was stamped on a scrap of Basic White and die cut with a label die, also in the set. The gold Flower Accents finish off the front of the card.

For the second card I was inspired by Dani Gurrola, another Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator in the USA. Again, I adapted the card size to suit the standard size used in Australia. For the background panel I embossed a piece of Misty Moonlight card using the Joined Together 3D embossing folder, after swiping the folder with Misty Moonlight ink before putting the card inside. This pressed the ink into the indented image on the card panel with a two-tone effect.

I used 2 of the rectangle dies from the Textured Notes die set to create the frame from Cloud Cover card, and die cut the vase shape from the same piece. On the vase shape I stamped the flower image in Versamark and sprinkled gold embossing powder over before heat setting it with a heat tool. I added a fracture line that was die cut from gold foil card. The flowers were die cut from White card and popped up on foam Dimensionals that were cut in half. The Flower Accents hide the dimensionals underneath.

For the third card in this set I was inspired by Terri Gaines, another Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator in the USA. for this card I die cut the frame using one of the Framed Scene dies from a Lost Lagoon card panel. I also die cut the vase and cup shapes from this panel to provide shadows behind the coloured in images. Both were stamped on Basic White in Lost Lagoon ink and coloured with Stampin’ Blend alcohol markers in Pool Party and Petal Pink. The flower was also stamped on white and die cut with the matching die. The white background panel is embossed with the Joined Together 3D embossing folder.

I created these cards for a class featuring the Autumn Leaves stamps and dies from Stampin’ Up!

For the first card I was inspired by a design from Brian King who used an older set of leaves and background stamps. I created the background by masking off the top and bottom of my white panel and using a texture stamp with Basic Beige ink multiple times across the exposed areas. It really looks like tree bark in real life. The card base is Cajun Craze, with a mat of Basic Beige behind the white panel.

For the inside stamped image I created a temporary stamp using craft foam cut with one of the leaf dies. I learned this idea from Jennifer McGuire some years ago, and it’s a great way to stretch your supplies.

For the second card I adapted a design by Amy Koenders to suit the metric A6 size card that we use in Australia, and used a sentiment from the Simply Said stamp set. The ink colours I used are Crumb Cake and Pecan Pie. The card base is Pecan Pie cardstock, and the stamped panel is Very Vanilla.

In the video I show how I used a fan brush to create the more defined splatters than in my first example I made.

For my third card I was inspired by one designed by Su Mohr, and I varied mine by blending ink on the embossed background. The card base is Mossy Meadow, with a Very Vanilla panel which has been embossed with the Leaf Fall 3D embossing folder.

Here are the cards I created for my online class featuring the Spotlight on Nature stamps and dies.

For the first card I was inspired by a card I saw from Create With Christy. I thought I would add some texture to the background by using an embossing folder on the panel after I stamped the leafy image over it. I added the embossed panel to a basic white mat to tie in with the white focal point and to make the background stand out more from the Pretty Peacock card base.

I made a slight change to this card when I made it for the video by using a different one of the decorative circle dies for the Pretty Peacock layer, as I thought the one in this photo is a bit heavy for the sentiment. I also show my trick for saving cardstock by die cutting from mat layers.

For the second card I adapted a card by Mary Deatherage to a (slightly cut down) metric card size. The Deckled rectangle dies are made for American sized cards which are different in proportion to Australian standard metric card sizes.

For my third card I used a fun background technique that I had seen done by Heidi Collins of On Y Go Stamping.

The thing with this background technique is that you never get the same results twice. I coloured the floral image with Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers, and I also used one of the markers to colour a plain rhinestone pink!

Thanks for stopping by my blog today. This class features the Pets & More stamp set from Stampin’ Up!

This stamp set contains some cute animals and fun accessories. It is a special reversible stamp set, which means you can fill in the image with colour by using the reverse (flat) side of the stamp.

The first card shows where I used the reverse side of the stamps to colour in the images. This works well for symmetrical images.

I created the woodgrain background by swiping a Pecan Pie stamp pad over a piece of Basic White cardstock that I had scored every 1/2″ using a score board. A little Early Espresso ink was added over the panel to give a bit of shading. I learned the woodgrain background technique from Gina K.

For the second card I created my own monochromatic patterned background by stamping a cluster of 3 stamps randomly on the background panel. I stamped the dog and cat images in Memento black ink and coloured them with Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers.

I made the third card for a friend who likes dogs, and for the layout I was inspired by the fractured card technique.

This is the easiest of the cards I created, with a piece of Designer Series Paper for the background, and some simple colouring with Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today, for another blog hop with Demonstrators in the Tech 4 Stampers Academy group. This month’s theme is Boys & Men. I decided to go with a fancy fold card I learned in a team craft night, and made it into a card for my husband. He is very supportive of my crafting passion. Here is my card:

On a standard card base I adhered a piece of Designer Series Paper to 14.5cm x 10.2cm to leave a very narrow border. I used Stampin’ Seal around the edges only. I then placed one of the stitched circle dies from the Stylish shapes set on the card front and ran it through my Cut ‘n Emboss machine to cut a circle from both layers. I only used the white layer for the focal point of my card, keeping the patterned paper piece for another project.

To create the pop up bar I created a narrow rectangular box out of white cardstock, 14.5cm long by 4-1/4″ (yes, I’m using both metric and imperial measurements) and scored at 1″, 2″, 3″ and 4″ on the 4-1/4″ side. These were burnished and folded to form the box shape, putting adhesive on the 1/4″ flap. I then glued 2 narrow strips of patterned paper (the reverse side of the swirly paper on the card front) to decorate the pop up bar. This mechanism was then glued to the inside of the card, along the bottom, and on the top part on either side of the circle aperture.

I stamped the mug image in Memento black ink onto white cardstock and coloured the images with Stampin’ Blends – I used Azure Afternoon for the blue mug and Fresh Freesia for the other one. I had already stamped the coffee image in the mugs using Early Espresso for one and Pecan Pie for the other (I like my coffee milky). I then die cut the images and adhered the Freesia mug flat on the circle and used Dimensionals to raise the blue mug. I then closed the card, put glue on the patterned paper that was showing through the window, and placed the circle in the aperture.

For the greeting I stamped in Memento black onto white cardstock and used one of the banner dies in the Stylish Shapes set. To finish the card I used a few of the Adhesive-backed Swirl Dots for bling.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today. I’m taking part in the Tech 4 Stampers blog hop, and this month’s theme is flowers. This is such a broad topic, and I’m sure you’ll find lots of variations on the theme. I’ve recently been experimenting with a technique I’ve seen from different artists using different 3D embossing folders. These give a lovely texture to cardstock and can be used plain or coloured with a variety of mediums. Here is my card.

I put a piece of Basic White cardstock (13.8cm x 9.5cm) inside the Layered Florals 3D embossing folder and put it through my Stampin’ Cut ‘n Emboss Machine. Then on the debossed or indented side, I used small Blending Brushes to apply Daffodil Delight to the flower centres, Granny Apple Green to the leaves, and Flirty Flamingo ink to the larger flower petals. It looks like a hot mess at this stage but the magic happens at the next step.

To get the faded denim look I lightly dragged a Blueberry Bushel stamp pad across the panel so that the blue colour filled in the flat areas. This adds some colour to some of the petals as well, giving them shadows and depth. Quite effective, don’t you think? I then adhered the finished panel to a Thick Basic White card base (21cm x 14.8cm scored and folded to 14.8cm x 10.5cm) using Multipurpose Liquid Glue. I then placed a large acrylic block on top until the glue had set.

Then to finish off the card, I stamped a greeting in Blueberry Bushel ink on an offcut strip of Basic White and added a few tinsel gems in the same colour for bling.

Card 1

Measurements:

Crushed Curry card base: A5 (14.8cm x 21cm) scored and folded to 14.8cm x 10.5cm
Basic White: 13.8cm x 9.5cm, 14.3cm x 10cm for inside the card

Supplies:

Stamps: Enduring Beauty

Decorative Masks (stencils): Enduring Beauty

Instructions

1. Stamp the large floral outline image onto a panel of Basic White. You might like to tape the panel to your work surface.
2. Place stencil 1 over the top, lining up the flowers, tape down or mark on your grid paper where the notch is. Apply Crushed Curry ink with a Blending Brush in a circular motion over the stencil openings. Remove the stencil.
3. Place stencil 2 on the panel, lining it up with the leaves. Tape down. Apply Granny Apple Green ink with a blending brush over the openings. Remove the stencil.
4. Place stencil 3 on the panel, which adds shadows to the petals. Line up with the previous notch mark. Apply another layer of Crushed Curry ink with a blending brush. Remove the stencil.
5. Place stencil 4 on the panel, this adds the veins to the leaves, plus a few stems. Apply Granny Apple Green ink with a blending brush. Remove the stencil.
6. Place stencil 5 on the panel, this adds depth to the flower centres. Apply Crushed Curry ink with a blending brush. Remove the stencil.
7. Use a sponge dauber to add a little Granny Apple Green ink to the edges of the panel. Adhere to the card front. Adhere the other white panel to the inside of the card.

Card 2 – Watercolour Birthday

Measurements:

Gorgeous Grape card base: A5 (14.8cm x 21cm) scored and folded to 14.8cm x 10.5cm

Supplies:

Stamps: Enduring Beauty, Artistically Inked

Dies: Enduring Beauty
Embossing Folder: Painted Texture

Ink: Versamark, Highland Heather, Gorgeous Grape, Parakeet Party, Boho Blue

Cardstock/Paper: Gorgeous Grape, Watercolour paper, Basic White
Accessories: Heat tool, White embossing powder, water brushes

Embellishments: Purple Fine Shimmer gems

Instructions

1. Emboss one of the white panels using the Painted Texture 3D embossing folder. Adhere the embossed panel to the card front. Adhere the other white panel to the inside of the card.
2. Swipe an embossing buddy over the watercolour paper to remove static. Stamp the large floral image in Versamark ink, sprinkle white embossing powder over the image and heat set with a heat tool.
3. Drop some ink onto an acrylic block or paint palette. I used Highland Heather for the flowers, Gorgeous Grape for the buds, Parakeet Party for the leaves and Boho Blue for around the edges and in between the flowers. Using a water brush, add a little water to the ink and paint on the panel. I started with the leaves, then the flowers, buds and background. Add water as needed to lighten the shade of colour. To have a darker shade, use less water. The white embossing should help to keep in the lines, as it will resist the ink. Let dry or use a heat tool. Die cut with the matching outline die. Use foam Dimensionals to attach to the card front.
4. Stamp the greeting in Gorgeous Grape ink on an offcut strip of white. Trim to size, adhere to a wider strip of Gorgeous Grape cardstock and trim to size. Adhere to the card front.
5. Add a few purple fine shimmer gems for bling.

Card 3

Measurements:

Thick Basic White card base: A5 (14.8cm x 21cm) scored and folded to 14.8cm x 10.5cm
Basic White: 14.3cm x 10cm
Berry Burst: 13.8cm x 9.5cm

Dies: Enduring Beauty

Decorative Masks (stencils): Enduring Beauty

Ink: Bubble Bath, Granny Apple Green, Berry Burst

Cardstock: Thick Basic White, Basic White, Berry Burst

Embellishments: Purple Fine Shimmer gems

Instructions

1. Stamp the Sketched Plaid background stamp onto the Berry Burst panel using Berry Burst ink. In the video I show how I have the stamp on a block with the rubber side up, tap the stamp pad on it, then lay the cardstock panel on top, put a piece of scrap paper over and rub over the panel with my fingers. Adhere to the card front.
2. Place the white panel onto your work surface. You might want to tape it down with low tack painter’s tape. Place stencil 1 over the top, mark where the notch is so you can line up the next stencils. Use a Blending Brush to lightly apply Bubble Bath ink to the open areas in a circular motion. Remove the stencil.
3. Place stencil 2 over the top, lining it up with the notch mark from the previous stencil, and using Granny Apple Green, lightly apply the ink to the open areas to give the leaves a base layer. Remove the stencil.
4. Place stencil 3 over the top and apply another layer of Bubble Bath ink through the open areas, to give shading to the petals. Remove the stencil.
5. Place stencil 4 over the top and apply another layer of Granny Apple Green ink with the blending brush to the open areas, giving the veins to the leaves and filling in a few stems. Remove the stencil.
6. Place stencil 5 over the top and lightly apply Berry Burst ink to the flower centres. Remove the stencil.
7. Die cut the image with the matching outline die. Use Dimensionals to attach the image to the card front. Add a few Berry Burst gems from the purple fine shimmer gems pack for bling.

This class features the gorgeous Perennial Lavender Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up! This patterned paper is in the January – April 2024 Mini Catalogue. All supplies are listed below and can be ordered through my online store.

Card 1 – Joy

The layout for this card was inspired by the January 2024 SheetLoad of Cards by Call me Crafty Al – you can find her sketch, supply list and video at https://www.youtube.com/callmecraftyal. I adapted her sketch to fit a metric card base that we use in Australia.

Measurements:

Thick Basic White card base: A5 (14.8cm x 21cm) scored and folded to 14.8cm x 10.5cm
Crumb Cake: 14.3cm x 10cm
Basic White: 12.8cm x 8.5cm, scraps
DSP: 12.3cm x 8cm.

Supplies:

Stamps: Heartfelt Hexagon

Embossing Folder: Softly Sophisticated

Punch: Heartfelt Hexagon

Ink: Crumb Cake, Pretty Peacock

Cardstock/Paper: Thick Basic White, Crumb Cake, Basic White, Perennial Lavender 12 x 12 Designer Series Paper (DSP)

Embellishments: Petal Pink and Pretty Peacock Foiled Gems, Paper Butterfly Accents

Instructions:

1. Emboss the Crumb Cake panel with the Softly Sophisticated 3D embossing folder. Using a brayer, lightly apply Crumb Cake ink to the raised areas of the embossed panel. Adhere to the card base.
2. Cut the DSP (Designer Series Paper) in half lengthwise so you have 2 strips that are 4cm wide. Cut 4cm off the top of each strip. Flip over one of the square pieces and one of the rectangular pieces to show the other side of the paper. Sponge the edges with Pretty Peacock ink using a sponge dauber. Glue to the white panel leaving a white border. Glue an offcut strip of Basic White across the join where the 4 patterned paper pieces meet. Trim the ends to size. Adhere to the card front as shown.
3. Stamp the greeting onto a scrap of Basic White in Pretty Peacock ink and punch with the Heartfelt Hexagon punch. Sponge the edges of the punched-out shape with the same colour ink. Attach to the card front with Dimensionals. Add a few Pretty Peacock Foiled Gems for bling.
4. Lightly sponge one of the Paper Butterfly Accents with the same ink and glue to the card front.

Card 2 – Birthday

Measurements:

Thick Basic White card base: A5 (14.8cm x 21cm) scored and folded to 14.8cm x 10.5cm
Pretty Peacock: 14.3cm x 10cm, scrap strip
DSP: 13.8cm x 9.5cm
Basic White: 5.5cm x 3.5cm, scrap strip.

Supplies:

Stamps: Painted Lavender, Sentimental Park

Dies: Perennial Postage

Ink: Shaded Spruce, Highland Heather

Cardstock/Paper: Thick Basic White, Pretty Peacock, Basic White, Perennial Lavender 12 x 12 Designer Series Paper (DSP)

Embellishments: Gorgeous Grape sheer ribbon (retired)

Instructions:

1. Use one of the Perennial Postage dies to cut a rectangle from the Pretty Peacock panel. The rest of the panel will become the mat for the DSP. Adhere the DSP to the panel. Wrap a short piece of ribbon around the panel and secure on the back with tape. Adhere to the card front.
2. Stamp the lavender/grasses image in Shaded Spruce ink on the small Basic White panel. Stamp the tiny flowers in Highland Heather ink multiple times across the green stems. Adhere the stamped panel to the postage stamp rectangle die cut. Use Dimensionals to attach to the card front over the ribbon.
3. Stamp the greeting on a narrow white strip in Shaded Spruce ink. Trim to size. Adhere to a slightly longer narrow strip of Pretty Peacock cardstock and attach to the card front with Mini Dimensionals.

Card 3 – Purple Birthday

Measurements:

Gorgeous Grape card base: A5 (14.8cm x 21cm) scored and folded to 14.8cm x 10.5cm
DSP 1 (purple): 14.3cm x 7cm
DSP 2: 14.3cm x 2.5cm
Gorgeous Grape: 10cm x 5.5cm, scrap strip
Basic White: 14.3cm x 7cm, 9.5cm x 5cm, scrap strip.

Supplies:

Stamps: Painted Lavender, Go To Greetings

Inks: Shaded Spruce, Gorgeous Grape

Cardstock/Paper: Gorgeous Grape, Basic White, Perennial Lavender 12 x 12 Designer Series Paper

Embellishments/Trim: Purple Fine Shimmer Gems

Instructions:

1. Cut 3cm off the front of the card base.
2. Sponge the edges of the DSP pieces with Gorgeous Grape ink. Adhere the purple piece to the cut-down card front. Adhere the other piece to the left side of the inside of the card. Adhere the 14.3cm x 7cm white panel to the inside of the card.
3. Stamp the bunch of flowers in Gorgeous Grape ink towards the top of the smaller white panel. Stamp the bunch of stems in Shaded Spruce ink towards the bottom of the panel, overlapping the flower stems. Adhere the panel to the purple mat. Adhere this panel to the card front flap, ensuring you only put glue/tape on the left side of the panel.
4. Stamp the greeting on a strip of Basic White, trim to size. Adhere to a slightly wider strip of Gorgeous Grape cardstock, trim to size. Adhere to the card front as shown. Watch the video for a tip on this. Add a few Purple Fine Shimmer Gems for bling.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today. I’m joining in with another blog hop with Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from around the world sharing ideas relating to a monthly theme. This month the theme is “Love is in the Air” (I immediately think of the song by Australian singer John Paul Young who had a hit song with that title – do you remember it?)

I’ve been making some cards with the Bee My Valentine stamp set lately, so I thought it would fit in with this month’s theme. Here is my card.

I used the lovely Petal Patterns die set to create the background for the card, I die cut the more solid layer from Poppy Parade cardstock, and the overlay in Basic White that had an Adhesive Sheet stuck to the back – this made it really easy to stick to the layer underneath. The die set is suited to a square card format, so I adhered the two layers onto a Crushed Curry card base.

The cute bee is from the Bee my Valentine set, stamped in Crushed Curry and Memento Tuxedo black ink on white cardstock. The wings are stamped with Petal Pink and Memento black (stamped off first to give a lighter grey outline). The body, wings and antennae were punched out using the Bee builder punch and I used Mini Glue Dots to attach the pieces together.

The sentiment is from the Be my Valentine set, and is stamped in Poppy Parade ink. I punched the sentiment out using the Heartfelt Hexagon punch. I used Dimensionals to attach the bee and the sentiment to the card front. I added some Iridescent Rhinestones to the open centres of the flowers for some bling.
