Who knew it would be so outrageously high? I guess I should have known though as the cost is determined by weight, and Pyrex weighs a ton! Even the smallest 401 mixing bowl is over 500 gram (nearly 1 1/2 lbs), which puts it at $9 for shipping to the United States and depending on destination, between $16 and $19 to other countries. For Canada it would probably be at least $10 (I don't know why it's cheaper to ship to the US than right here within our own country), although that would vary by province. And since I don't like paying a lot for shipping myself, I certainly wouldn't blame buyers for balking at paying a certain amount for their purchase. Lucky then I guess that I've decided to keep most of my Pyrex and am now starting to limit what I buy. No, I think I'm going to have to stick to items that weigh less. Like Melmac! :)

As you may have noticed in the Flickr widget on the right, I'm starting to accumulate a fair bit of Pyrex. And if I'm honest, my intention at first was to try and sell most of what I found. But life has a funny way of working sometimes, and sure enough, I've been bitten by the Pyrex bug myself and have now accepted the fact that I'll be keeping most of it instead. Collecting it is just too much fun (especially the English stuff), so I think I'll only be listing those items that come in patterns I don't care for.

And as a way of thanking members of a certain Flickr Pyrex pool for posting photos that help with research, they will be eligible for 15% off any Pyrex item I list!

Wow, June is practically here, and I still don't have any items listed! I'm having a hard time getting started, but I don't know why. Lack of time? Fear? Specifically, fear that I won't photograph, price or ship it right? Stupid perfectionism. Maybe if I just plunge in and get a listing or two up, it won't seem as scary anymore. Father's Day is coming up, so it would be nice to have at least a couple of items available.
