5 Clever Web Comics Sure To Keep You Laughing

There are so many excellent comics on the Internet that you could spend days browsing from site to site. Unfortunately, most people don’t have the luxury of that much time so we’ve put together this quick list of web comics to check out.

These five web comics are already pretty well-established, but we hope that bringing up this topic will cause others to post some more obscure, deserving web comics in the comments section of this article for everyone to enjoy.

1) XKCD

XKCD is one of the most well-known web comics on the Internet. The web comic’s artist, Randall Munroe, describes it as a webcomic of romance, sarcasm, math, and language.

One thing that’s easy to miss is that the last line of each comic is hidden in the picture’s caption. To see it, just hold your mouse over the picture and wait a second or two.

2) Garfield Minus Garfield

A unique adaptation of the long-running Garfield comic strip. The web comic’s creator describes the comic below:

“Who would have guessed that when you remove Garfield from the Garfield comic strips, the result is an even better comic about schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and the empty desperation of modern life? Friends, meet Jon Arbuckle. Let’s laugh and learn with him on a journey deep into the tortured mind of an isolated young everyman as he fights a losing battle against loneliness in a quiet American suburb.”

This popular web comic even has the blessing of Jim Davis, Garfield’s creator.

3) The Perry Bible Fellowship

The Perry Bible Fellowship is a web comic created by Nicholas Gurewitch. Don’t let the name of the site fool you: The Perry Bible Fellowship is not focused on religion. Instead, the artist aims his unique sense of humor at a wide range of topics. As an added bonus, each comic is beautifully illustrated and full of color.

4) Married To The Sea

Married To The Sea combines old-timey drawings with modern wit. It is drawn by the husband and wife team of Drew and Natalie Dee.

They each have their own comics as well. Toothpaste For Dinner is Drew’s comic and you can find Natalie’s drawings at Natalie Dee.

5) F Minus

F Minus is a comic that started on the web and has since become syndicated in newspapers across the country. Artist Tony Carrillo’s style is often compared to Gary Larsen’s “The Far Side”.

The Most Ridiculous Ways To Tell Time Since The Sundial

Our ancestors may have had to guess the time based on the position of the sun, but thankfully we don’t have to deal with that crap anymore (no offense ancient Mayans).

These clocks may not be the most practical things ever, but they’re all great examples of creative design work.

1) Flexible White Dudes + Flexible Asian Girl + Flexible Redhead = The Time
If you enjoy seeing stock photography get its exercise, this one is great.

2) The Clock That Can Bring Anyone Together
The loading time is intense (skip this one if you’re on dial-up) but the end result is worth it. Just type in any two words and hit enter.

Hint: if you type in “Ron Paul” and “George Bush”, they’ll be forced to work together to tell you the time. However, it will be the time in an alternate universe. Fair warning.

3) Why Does It Always Have To Be Carpal Tunnel Time?
This is definitely the hardest working clock on this list, but I’m curious how many trees this website goes through in one day. I hope it’s recycled paper at least.

4) Everywhere I Look, I See A Clock
After you look at this one, you’ll be seeing numbers more often than a mathematician who… is at work? Sorry, I don’t know mathematicians very well. I assume they do something with numbers.

5) Is This A Clock Or The Worst Typing Test Ever?
If you ever wondered why your keyboard wasn’t a clock, you can stop wondering. And after that you should sit down and ask yourself why you’re expecting so much from an inanimate object. Seriously. Your keyboard is going to end up with an eating disorder if you keep that up.

6) This List Sucks Clock
I’m going to be honest here. The only reason I used that title is to stop someone else from using it in the comments and embarrassing themselves. We may have fragile egos here at TinyDad.com but we’re always willing to jump on a terrible comment grenade.

19 Artists You Can’t Afford To Miss Out On

From half-naked pink girls to Isometric grinning trees, these artists are sure to satisfy the sucrose cravings in your eyeballs.

Some have already received international acclaim while others are fresh out of art school still planning their required pilgrimage to Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

Check them out before they get too famous and start making stuff nobody gets.

1. Edwin Ushiro - Ushiro got his start as a storyboard artist for various film and television studios and it shows. His pieces are like stills from an amazing animated film we’ll never get to see.

2. McBess - This guy is only 23 and has already had a show in Germany and has been featured in dozens of magazines and online publications. Think Fleischer Brothers if they were around today and had half-sleeves and worked on Macs.

3. Audrey Kawasaki - Kawasaki pretty much spear-headed the “hot girl looking at you” movement we’ve seen coming out the left coast for years. An amazingly talented painter. If you haven’t already seen her work….get ready to get mad you can’t afford them.

4. Koralie - From Juxtapoz.com: “French artist Koralie with her boyfriend and fellow artist, Supakitch, were in New York this weekend for the opening of Koralie’s solo show Après la Pluie (“After the Rain”) at Joshua Liner Gallery. In truly creative and touching street art fashion, the pair threw up a mutual wheat paste piece on the streets near Joshua Liner Gallery. When Supakitch finished his portion of the piece, he added a little bubble with a drawing of a ring and a question mark, essentially proposing to Koralie. In a classically French response, Koralie drew another bubble, and simply wrote, “Oui.”

5. Amy Sol - Soft, pale, beautifully tired girls and creatures. It’s hard to choose which ones to hug, the girls or the creatures.

6. Sidney Pink - Pink is an American artist now living and working in Japan. Just some very simple and cool drawings. Find me one person who doesn’t like Japanese school uniforms and ray-guns!

7. Dalek - James Marshall, better known as Dalek creates super vectorish paintings…that’s right these are paintings as in done by hand. They are tight, chaotic and they will give you a headache in the best way possible.

8. Stephane Tartelin - Paris based illustrator Stephane Tartelin creates great characters. It comes with no surprise he has a background in the video game industry. Lots of print work.

9. Bryan Cooper - He designs it, he sculpts it, he photographs it. Then it looks pretty great. Fans of stop-motion will really like this guy.

10. Anthony Lister - Fat Batman, Toucan Sam, and hog-tied superheroes. Lister is making the big bucks for a reason.

11. Sam Flores - Flores is a self-taught illustrator and graffiti artist. Not only has he made himself right at home in the LA art scene but managed to incorporate his work in clothing design, skateboards, snowboards, home-decor and vinyl toys. So chances are you’ve already seen his work.

12. Casey O’Connell - At first, O’ Connells work seems accessible and cutesy and childish. Then you see a girl sobbing with her underwear around her ankles.

13. Stella Im Hultburg - The lady is a mega-talented painter. Very sexy stuff. Unfortunately her portfolio site has not been updated in a while. Check out her blog for more current work.

14. Leesa Leva - Your favorite celebs all inked and splattered. Including the Olsen twins, Radiohead and Blondie? Ms. Leva also co-writes a blog at GalacticMu.

15. Lee Hasler - Hasler started making digital art on the Amiga 500 and his pixel loving, isometric eye candy never looked back. It looks like what video game developers of the 80s imagined games of the future would look like. If only The Sims looked this cool.

16. Sam Weber - The drawings in Weber’s “sketchbook” are better than most portfolio’s finished pieces. Just the websites title image alone is worth checking out.

17. Alexei Vella - “Vella combines mid-twentieth century pop imagery with vibrant, bright colors to create a kinetic style all his own. Looking at his work makes us feel as if we’re wearing those dorky 3-D glasses they used to include in magazines and old boxes of Cracker Jacks. The sensation is less than unpleasant; in fact, it’s quite enjoyable!” - Juxtapoz

18. Joshua Petker - Tough as nails and sexual and suductive and hopeful and mocking. The paintings of LA based artist Joshua Petker will make you blush a little and then make you take up smoking menthols because you’ll feel you’re not cool enough for them. They seem ripped from the world of John Cameron Mitchell (Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Shortbus)

19. Lori Early - Lori recently had 2 drawings stolen from her right off the walls of her latest solo exhibition FADE TO GRAY at the Jonathan LeVine Gallery in New York. That’s how good this SVA grad is.
