This year, 2021, is my year to clean house. I don't just mean dusting, vacuuming, and cleaning toilets. I mean cleaning the toxins out of our lives. I'm taking this step due to numerous medical issues that I've been dealing with for years plus the addition of a new diagnoses. I've gotten to a point of frustration and exhaustion. I absolutely love to go outside and look up to the sky. I try to do this for at least one minute every day or night. Why? Because it helps give me a moment of calm, a moment to clear my mind, and a moment to view something different and amazing.

Last weekend we learned from a neighbor that you are able to view the International Space Station from the comfort of your own yard. This gave us an opportunity to partake in an easy, free, and educational experience. I looked up what day/time we would be able to see the ISS fly over, we all went outside in our backyard and sure enough we saw this small light moving across the night sky. The kids thought it was so cool and it gave us an opportunity to do some further research on the ISS the next day.

You can easily check to see if you can view the ISS from your area by checking the Spot The Station website.

The kids loved seeing the ISS fly by and in turn it sparked a new curiosity of space. So, I ordered a telescope for us to use. This way we can get a close look at the stars and constellations, comets that fly by and the planets that we are supposed to be able to see. We can't wait!!

Thanks to a Sponsored Facebook Post that popped up on my Facebook account I was introduced to this new flexible detangler brush, EZ Detangling Brush. I watched quite a few videos of women effortlessly brushing through their curly hair and wanted to see if it would work for my son and I. I have always had long curly hair and have had issues with knots. I usually have to spray a detangler product to brush through them effectively. I also have a son who has curly hair. He is currently growing it out and the maintenance has increased. He is only seven years old and combing through his curls has become a little bit of a battle. It’s not only time consuming but can also hurt. My hope is that this product will help make styling his hair easier, quicker, and less painful. I’ll also see how it glides through my looser curls too. We are currently on month three of staying home and social distancing and our hair care has become quite flexible, which in turn has caused a lot more knotty nights. So lets dive right in and try this new product.

THE PRODUCT:

This hair brush is designed with a non-slip and comfortable rubber grip, helping you to hold it tightly. It can help the hair dry quickly and make your hair look shiny. The detangling brush is suitable for both wet and dry hair. You can use it when you wash your hair, removing tangles while massaging and cleaning the scalp. Durable and made of quality material. It is strong, durable, lightweight and easy to clean, good for removing knots and tangles. if you have normal tangle hair or 3a to 4c type curly hair, you can use the detangle brush to comb your hair.

USING THE PRODUCT:

When our EZ detangling brush arrived, we were both quite excited and used it right away. For our initial try I had my son take a shower and we brushed through his hair while soaking wet. I could tell a difference right away when using this brush. I was able to brush through his curls comfortably without painful tugging. The first and second brush strokes had minimal tugging and you could tell it was moving through the curls better. By the third stroke it was gliding through his hair seamlessly. I didn’t have to put in any extra effort like I used to with his old comb we used and we were able to brush through his hair much quicker. Since the brush is essentially 8 combs put together it really is efficient, just like brushing your hair 8 times at once. There was an extra piece sent with the brush to change the width to make it wider. I feel like it worked better for us with the wider setting. Check out his before and after results.

I also used the EZ Detangler on my looser curls and it glided right through with no snags or tugging. It felt easy, light and required limited effort.

THE FINAL RESULTS:

The flex detangler brush met our expectations. My son’s hair looked and felt great. This brush cut our styling time and we had less hair shedding. He was able to hold the brush and it's long enough that he can reach the back curls without straining.

CONS:

It takes a bit to get used to holding the brush and using the right angles. This is only a detangling brush it does not help for styling. We only tried on our two different hair types. Don’t know how well it works for other hair types.

RECOMMENDATION:

Yes, I would recommend the EZ Detangling Brush.

How To Clean Grease Off Your Oven Door

If you're looking for an easy, cheap, and efficient way to clean your oven doors, then I've got the method for you. I tested two methods on my oven door. The first method was the "clean your oven door hack", using dish washer pods. This method did not work at all for me. It was very messy and only cleaned a little surface grease off. It did not touch the deep baked on grease.

The second method I used was the baking soda and water method. This method worked just as advertised. After I waited the twenty minutes I was able to scrub all the grease of the oven door.

5 Tips to Keep Your Home Cool This Summer

We will all most likely be spending more time inside our homes this summer due to social distancing. This could potentially cause quite an increase in air conditioning use and increase our bills. If you have windows that are west or south facing there are plenty of ways to to reduce the heat and keep your living space comfortable. Here a 5 tips to keep your house cool this summer.

1. Paint
Let's start with the interior of your rooms. Take a look the color of your walls and ceiling, are they dark? If so, you will want to paint them a light-color, especially the ceiling which will diffuse sunlight without much heat or glare.

2. Circulation
Installing ceiling fans is one of the best ways to to cool a room. During the summer months you want the air from your fan to blow straight down. To do this you will need to switch the direction of the blade rotation. Flip the switch on the side of your fan down. The warmer it is, the higher your fan speed should be.

3. Furniture
Microfibre couches or chairs are really good options for keeping you cool. This fabric is good at wicking away heat. If you live in an area that is not humid, leather furniture is also a good option. Just make sure it is not in direct sunlight. If it's not in the budget to get new furniture you can try a cover for your current furniture.

4. De-humidifier
Speaking of humidity if you live in an area with high levels of humidity you should invest in a de-humidifier. A de-humidifier will soak up excess moisture in the air inside your home. Humid air can feel more intense than heat alone, so one of these could be a welcome relief.

5. Windows
The goal here is to block out the sunlight. This can be done in many different ways. There are speciality blinds, shutters, curtains, and window films for blocking out light. The right one will depend on your budget and if you can modify your windows. Blackout shades are very effective in blocking out heat during the summer. The U.S. Department of Energy has stated, "highly reflective blinds can reduce heat gain by around 45 percent."
