You might have already added your site or blog to google through google webmaster tools. Similarly you can add your blog to bing through Bing webmaster tools. This will give you detailed information about your site incoming links, searches and much more.

Follow the below steps to add your site to bing.

1. Goto the link Bing webmaster tools and try to login with windows live ID or Hotmail ID.

2. If you don't have windows live ID or Hotmail ID you need to create an account in any one of them.

3. Click the Add site and add your website.

4. Select 2nd option in verify ownership page and copy the code that is being displayed.

You might have known about meta tags and descriptions that are used in blogger. Usually we use a single Meta description in our template which will be applicable for all the posts in our blog. This doesn't sound good as each post are different and require a different meta description. This meta description is important for SEO which was not available in blogger untill now.

Good news for bloggers is that blogger has come up with an option wherein we can add meta description for each individual post that we publish in our blog.

Follow the below steps to implement this option in your blog posts.

1. Goto blogger Dashboard --> Setting --> Search Preferances

2. In Metatags --> Enable Search Description to YES.

3. Add some description which will be applicable for your home page

4. Save the template.

5. Goto any of your post and click the edit button.

6. On the right side of the post you can see the Search Description option shown below

7. Write some description related to the post and save it.

8. Follow the steps 6 and 7 for all the posts in your blog.

How to check if this feature is working fine for your template

Try the below steps to check if this feature is working properly.

Simple Hack to get rid of country specific Domain/URL in blogger

As you all know, google has decided to redirect all blogspot blogs to country specific urls. You can see that my blog http://bloggerbasicsforbeginner.blogspot.com automatically redirects to http://bloggerbasicsforbeginner.blogspot.in/. Many of us don't want this redirection to happen and may want their blog to be in .com domain. I will show you a simple hack to get rid of country specific Domain/URL in blogger. It is tested and is working fine.

Bloggers who want their blogs to be in .com domain can try the hack below.

Note: Make sure to take a backup of your tempalte before making the required changes.

1. Go to Blogger Dashboard -> Choose Template -> Edit HTML

2. Search for the html tag

3. Paste the below mentioned code below the Head tag.

4. Save your template and visit your blog.

You can see that your blog would not be redirected to country specific Domain/URL. The above code would make sure that you are forced to remain in the .com domain.

Bloggers would be surprised to see that their blogspot URL changes automatically to their country specific URLs. This is because Blogger and Google have decided to redirect all blogspot pages to their respective country specific domains. For example by blog http://bloggerbasicsforbeginner.blogspot.com automatically redirects to http://bloggerbasicsforbeginner.blogspot.in/ when I open my blogspot in India. Similarly if my blogger is opened in australia the URL would automatically be directed to http://bloggerbasicsforbeginner.blogspot.au/.

There will be lots of issues related to this change which needs to be figured out as early as possible. The prominent issue will be the impact on page ranks. For example let us say that your website has an alexa ranking of 1,000 and Google Pagerank as 3. Now after this redirection of URLS to country specific domains your blog will not be recognized by Alexa and the Google Pagerank will be N/A.

Why this Change?

This is what the Blogger support said as the reason for the change: "Migrating to localized domains will allow us to continue promoting free expression and responsible publishing while providing greater flexibility in complying with valid removal requests pursuant to local law. By utilizing ccTLDs, content removals can be managed on a per country basis, which will limit their impact to the smallest number of readers. Content removed due to a specific country’s law will only be removed from the relevant ccTLD."

Where we can see the change?

We can see the change only at the blog URL address.

Will this change affect my blog?

There will not be any changes to your blog expect for the URL redirecting to the country specific domain.

Will there be any change to search engine optimization SEO on my blog?

Due to this change the blogspot content will be see on different domains. Duplicate contents on different domains will have an effect on search results. But Google is taking every effort to minimize the issues and to find a solution for this as early as possible.

How to redirect my blog to .com?

Bloggers can use this tip below to redirect their blog to .com. You need to type the /ncr at the end of your blog address. For example the address should be like http://[blogname].blogspot.com/ncr. This will always redirect to the U.S English blog.

This defeats the purpose of the URL redirecting by Google.
