Damage to the environment is an inevitable consequences of worldwide improvements in the standard of living.

The improvement of people’s living standard owes too much to the rapid development of science and technology. However, people nowadays are confronted with so many problems, such as the deterioration of environment, air pollution and the explosive expansion of population. Some people claim that the damage to environment is an inevitable consequence of economic development. From my point of view, this is only an excuse for the ignorance of environmental protection.
In order to make more profit, some manufacturers and factories are only keen on the pursuit of profits, caring nothing about the protection of environment and the recycling of waste water. For example, about fifty percent of people in Shenzhen possess a private car, and the ownership is increasing by 7,000 each month. The exhaust gas and irritating noise impair people’s health greatly. The prosperity of economy is obtained at the cost of people’s health and the damage to environment.

The lack of awareness of environmental protection is another factor causing damage to environment. Some near-sighted local governments are only concerned about economic development but pay little attention to environmental protection, misunderstanding that economic development says for their achievements and that environmental protection only wastes money.

If people and the authorities concerned have a long-term developing perspective, I think the damage to environment is avoidable. Along with the development of technology and people’s living standard, the government should take effective measures to handle the problems arising. Meanwhile, the manufacturers and factories should consider not only economic profit but also social benefit. If the government and people can join hands in solving environmental problem, we will enjoy an azure sky and flower fragrance in the near future.

लाल बहादुर शास्त्री जी की पहचान : सादा जीवन और उच्च विचार

लाल बहादुर शास्त्री जी जिन्हें आप और हम भारत के दूसरे प्रधानमंत्री का तरह याद रखे हुए हैं आज उनकी 45 वीं पुण्यतिथि है| लाल बहादुर शास्त्री जी ने स्वतंत्रता संग्राम में अहम रोल अदा किया, उत्तरप्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री रहे और 1964 में देश के दूसरे प्रधानमंत्री बने| 1966 में हुए पाकिस्तान के साथ युद्ध में उनके निर्णयों की वजह से भारत ने पाकिस्तान को मार भगाया था| लाल बहादुर शास्त्री को चाहे लोग किसी भी बात के लिए जानें लेकिन जो शब्द उनके व्यक्तित्व को बखूबी दर्शाते थे वह हैं सादगी, उच्च विचार और शिष्टाचार|

लाल बहादुर शास्त्री जी का जन्म 2 अक्टूबर 1904 को उत्तर प्रदेश के मुगलसराय में हुआ था| उनका जन्मदिवस गांधी जी के जन्मदिवस के समान होने की तरह व्यक्तित्व और विचारधारा भी गांधी जी के जैसे ही थे| शास्त्री जी गांधी जी के विचारों और जीवनशैली से बेहद प्रेरित थे| शास्त्री जी ने स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन में गांधीवादी विचारधारा का अनुसरण करते हुए देश की सेवा की और आजादी के बाद भी अपनी निष्ठा और सच्चाई में कमी नहीं आने दी|

भारत की स्वतंत्रता के पश्चात शास्त्रीजी को उत्तर प्रदेश के संसदीय सचिव के रुप में नियुक्त किया गया था. वो गोविंद बल्लभ पंत के मुख्यमंत्री के कार्यकाल में प्रहरी एवं यातायात मंत्री बने| जवाहरलाल नेहरू का उनके प्रधानमंत्री के कार्यकाल के दौरान 27 मई, 1964 को देहावसान हो जाने के बाद, शास्त्री जी ने 9 जून 1964 को प्रधान मंत्री का पद भार ग्रहण किया| शास्त्री जी का प्रधानमंत्री पद के लिए कार्यकाल राजनैतिक सरगर्मियों से भरा और तेज गतिविधियों का काल था| पाकिस्तान और चीन भारतीय सीमाओं पर नजरें गडाए खड़े थे तो वहीं देश के सामने कई आर्थिक समस्याएं भी थीं| लेकिन शास्त्री जी ने हर समस्या को बेहद सरल तरीके से हल किया. किसानों को अन्नदाता मानने वाले और देश के सीमा प्रहरियों के प्रति उनके अपार प्रेम ने हर समस्या का हल निकाल दिया|“जय जवान, जय किसान” के साथ उन्होंने देश को आगे बढ़ाया|

जिस समय वह प्रधानमंत्री बने उस साल 1965 में पाकिस्तानी हुकूमत ने कश्मीर घाटी को भारत से छीनने की योजना बनाई थी| लेकिन शास्त्री जी ने दूरदर्शिता दिखाते हुए पंजाब के रास्ते लाहौर में सेंध लगा पाकिस्तान को पीछे हटने पर मजबूर कर दिया| इस हरकत से पाकिस्तान की विश्व स्तर पर बहुत निंदा हुई| पाक हुक्मरान ने अपनी इज्जत बचाने के लिए तत्कालीन सोवियत संघ से संपर्क साधा जिसके आमंत्रण पर शास्त्री जी 1966 में पाकिस्तान के साथ शांति समझौता करने के लिए ताशकंद गए| इस समझौते के तहत भारत-पाकिस्तान के वे सभी हिस्से लौटाने पर सहमत हो गया जहाँ भारतीय फौज ने विजय के रूप में तिरंगा झंडा गाड़ दिया था|

इस समझौते के बाद दिल का दौरा पड़ने से 11 जनवरी 1966 को ताशकंद में ही शास्त्री जी का निधन हो गया| हालांकि उनकी मृत्यु को लेकर आज तक कोई आधिकारिक रिपोर्ट सामने नहीं लाई गई है| उनके परिजन समय-समय पर उनकी मौत पर सवाल उठाते रहे हैं. यह देश के लिए एक शर्म का विषय है कि उसके इतने काबिल नेता की मौत का कारण आज तक साफ नहीं हो पाया है|

साल 1966 में ही उन्हें भारत का पहला मरणोपरांत भारत रत्न का पुरस्कार भी मिला था जो इस बात को साबित करता है कि शास्त्री जी की सेवा अमूल्य है|

आज राजनीति में जहां हर तरफ भ्रष्टाचार का बोलबाला है वहीं शास्त्री जी एक ऐसे उदाहरण थे जो बेहद
सादगी पसंद और ईमानदार व्यक्तित्व के स्वामी थे| अपनी दूरदर्शिता की वजह से उन्होंने पाकिस्तान को गिड़गिडाने पर विवश कर दिया था| हालांकि ताशकंद समझौता भारत की अपेक्षाओं पर खरा नहीं उतरा पर फिर भी उन्होंने दुनिया को भारत की ताकत का अंदाजा दिला दिया था|
