Happy Ending for Pee Wee aka (Kiefer)

This is th ehappy ending for Pee Wee pictured left and his brother Peanut pictured right

Just wanted to drop a line to thank you for our pup (formerly Kiefer) Pee Wee. Here is a picture of him with his big brother Peanut. These two get along well. They run all over the house chasing one another, ripping apart all of the toys, and sleeping with mom and dad.

Pee Wee loves the snow and runs all over the back yard. Peanut on the other hand doesn't like getting his feet wet. Pee Wee is a little con artist and can really pull the wook over your eyes with that innocent look. But, we love them very much and they have brought much joy to our home.

Just wanted you to know that Pee Wee has a loving home, something I wish all of your animals will have some day.

This little dog was given up along with her pups. There will not be any problem adopting the pups out but poor mom nobody is going to take her with her eyes like this. Once again we are reaching out to anyone who would like to donate to the Bertha Fund in order to help with her surgery. This is a sweet little dog who certainly deserves a 2nd chance. Look at this sweetie pie and watch her video, if she doesn't capture your heart nothing will!

Kadlec and Burlington Dental Care LLC and Susan Lee-Flemming for their contributions to help with her surgery. Update on Kalli! She had her surgery on her eyes Wednesday along with being spayed. Look at our pretty girl now! Even after all she went thorugh today all she wanted to do was to lick our hands as if to say thanks! Kallis eyes will look even better after the post op swelling goes down.

Book & Bake Sale for TLC

Want to sit down a read a good book? There will be plenty of them to browse to and purchase at the book sale the Brandy Gergescz and Emily Serno are holding for TLC. There will be books, DVDs and CD's available along with yummy baked goods to savor.

When: Saturday February 25th from 11:00 until 6:00

Where: Homer Township Hall which is located on Cedar Road 1/2 block south of Route 7 AKA 159th Street, Homer Glen

Anyone wishing to drop off books, CD's and DVD's may bring them to the shelter anytime between 11 and 4 up until the 23rd.

Bakery may be dropped off at the shelter the day before the sale or brought directly to the sale at 11:00

We need to know by this weekend if you would be interested in participating in a weightloss fundraiser.

We want to start this fundraiser by March the latest and let it run for 8 weeks. If you are trying to get in shape for summer, this could be a fun way to do it, while at the same time raising money for the animals at TLC, by collecting pledges for each pound you lose, or if you have to gain it can work that way too.

we need enough interest in it to make up the flyers and include it in our next

mailing which should be early February.

You could have a weightloss team with your co workers or do it by yourself either way would work. We would also provide weekly on line weight loss tips to help you reach your goal
YOU pick your own weight loss goal.
Participants will confidentially weigh in on the honor system to record weightloss.
ARE YOU GAME???? We won't be publishing anyone's weight so don't be shy sign on today we only have 1 few days to make this fundraiser happen

We wish to thank Girl Scout Daisy Troop # 70013 from Lemont, who put collection boxes for food and supplies they collected. They made up flyers and passed them out throughout the neighborhood to let people what the shelter needed and where drop off boxes would be located. We want to thank Tracy Lesmeister for the wish list drive she held for TLC from November 21st through January 2nd. Tracy brought in a bounty of supplies that the shelter was in need of, and several hundred dollars she raised. We also want to thank the following businesses for allowing collection boxes in their stores: Animal Clinic at New Lenox, All 4 Paws, Fabian Flooring, Papa Joe's, Pretty Penny Nails, and Tucker's Doggie Delights.

We also want to thank the Animal Clinic at New Lenox for the photos with Santa event they held and the money raised.

When you watch this video remember YOU are a very important part of these efforts to save the lives of so many animals! Beautiful companion animals that have no way out, there wouldn't be any future for them, if we didn't step in to help. YOU are the backbone of these efforts! Without your support we could not do what we are doing to save so many animals here and those coming from remote areas where adoptions are few and far between. YOUR caring and generosity has enabled us to help abandoned, abused, and neglected cats and dogs, receiving the care that they need while awaiting their forever homes. Thank you seems so little to say for all that YOU have done, but I am sure when you watch this video, you will realize how important you are to every animal that has been saved.......

Happy ending for Onyx

I wanted to send you a long overdue note to update the story of Onyx, formerly “No Name 300”. A woman had found him and, after putting up flyers and trying to find his owner, no one claimed him. He was then brought in as a stray.

My husband and I decided to visit the shelter in April 2010. There were several kittens on the website, but when we arrived we found out they all were taken. We figured while we were there we would see who else needed a home.

While looking at all of the cats there, one decided to yank on the leg of my jeans. He was in one of the lower cages and just couldn’t wait to be noticed! We knew we had to see more. We took him to the interaction room and he was so loving. He jumped into my husband’s lap and gave him a little head butt. Then he came over by me and gave rubbed my face. We knew this was the one and took him home that day.

Onyx was a little skiddish the first couple weeks, but he has settled in nicely. He is very playful and enjoys being the "king" of the house.

Attached are a few pictures of Onyx. The first one is when we just brought him home and the next few are of him having fun.

Thank you so much for all you do and taking such terrific care of these animals. Onyx has brought us great joy and is a wonderful addition to our family!!!
