MY SON JUST TURNED 12 AND IS CONSTANTLY ASKING FOR HIS OWN CELL PHONE. THE GREAT DEBATE BEGINS....MY WIFE OF COURSE SAYS WHY NOT HE HAS GOOD GRADES IN SCHOOL AND IT WILL HELP HIM NETWORK WITH HIS FRIENDS. I GUESS I AM JUST A BIT MORE OLD SCHOOL. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE DAYS WHEN IF YOU WANTED TO PLAY WITH A FRIEND YOU PICKED UP THE PHONE, CALLED THE HOUSE LINE, AND ASKED TO SPEAK WITH YOUR FRIEND.

IT SEEMS TODAY THERE IS NO MORE VERBAL COMMUNICATIONS AMONGST THESE YOUNG TEENAGERS. EVERYTHING IS TEXT MESSAGE THIS TEXT MESSAGE THAT. I AM JUST HAVING A HARD TIME TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT KIND OF COMMUNICATION SKILLS THESE KIDS ARE GOING TO HAVE WHEN THEY GROW UP.

I CAN SEE IT NOW. MY SON WILL BE 23 YEARS OLD AT WORK SITTING AT HIS DESK AND THE SECRETARY OF THE CEO CALLS HIM AND SAYS THE CEO WOULD LIKE TO MEET WITH YOU AT NOON. MY SONS REPLY WILL BE "OK I WILL SEND HIM A TEXT TO CONFIRM". IT JUST BUGS THE CRAP OUT OF ME THAT SOCIAL SKILLS ARE SO IMPORTANT AND THESE KIDS TODAY REALLY HAVE NONE. THE ONLY SKILLS THEY ARE DEVELOPING WITH THESE CELL PHONES IS HOW QUICKLY THEY CAN MOVE THEIR FINGERS. I GUESS THIS WILL HELP WHEN THEY ARE DRIVING TO WORK AND SOME IDIOT CUTS THEM OFF AND THEY DECIDE TO FLIP THEM THE FINGER. GREAT MY SON WILL GROW UP TO BE THE QUICKEST FINGER FLICKER IN FLORIDA.

NY GIANTS RECAP

The Giants pulled out a nice last minute victory last night. The starting defense (missing Webster, Ross, Canty, Bernard, Boley) looked very good. I can't imagine what this defense will look like once everyone is dressed to play.

Eli Manning had 3 pass attempts and completed 2 of them for 31 yards. He looked good on the field but I still wish somebody would wipe that "DUH" look off of his face. Eli is making over $100 million dollars if you include this years salary, you think he could show some emotion or enthusiasm?

David Carr had 10 pass attempts and completed 6. Several times he looked like a deer caught in the headlights. He did have a pass completed for a TD but that was mainly possible because of the incredible play by Ahmad Bradshaw. (more on him below)

Woodson looked absolutely horrible. He didn't seem to be comfortable at all and basically was a disaster. Let's hope we don't see much more of him.

Rhett Bomar was 2 for 2 for 21 yards. Nothing much to mention here other than I hope next week he gets more play time than Woodson.

As usual Brandon Jacobs looked like a tank. This guy is incredible. A++++ (4 attempts for 31 yards)

My game ball goes to Ahmad Bradshaw. 5 attempts for 35 yards and a TD. He looked awesome. I am convinced that we are going to have more rush yards this season than we did with D. Ward last year. This kid has wheels, moves, and some real talent.

D. Ware and A. Patrick both looked decent.

Nothing much to mention with the Giants receivers. Mario Manningham looked good as well as Hixon but there wasn't much going on in the passing department. No deep bombs and only one catch by Ramses Barden who I am really anticipating a big year from.

Lawrence Tynes, well the only thing I can really say is GET RID OF HIM!

Defense looked spectacular. 6 tackles and a forced fumble by T. Johnson. Douzable, Umenyiora, Evans, and Sintim each had a sack. Woodson had 1 interception and Douzable, Umenyiora, Evans, Kehl, and Sintim each had a forced fumble.

NY Giants vs Carolina Panthers

Tonight is the Giants first preseason game and already it is full with disappointment. The new free agent acquisitions that we have all been looking forward to seeing are not even playing. Chris Canty from Dallas, Rocky Bernard and Michael Boley will all be sidelined with injuries. I have been following various reports and listening to my contacts that I still have in NJ and I have been told by everyone to keep your eyes on Kenny Phillips that he has truly shown great abilities and athleticism.

The good news is we will get to see plenty of Mario Manningham, Ramses Barden, and Derek Hagan. I believe Ramses Barden will be a starter by week 3 or at least getting some serious action in every game.

My very early prediction is that the Giants return to the playoffs but get beat in the 2nd round. Remember you heard it here first.

Tropical Storm Ana

HAPPY SATURDAY readers, subscribers, followers and non followers. Looks like a semi-rainy weekend here in Florida. I was just watching the tropics and it appears that tropical storm Ana has formed and TD3 will be turning into tropical storm Bill very soon.

It has been a late start to this years hurricane season but it appears to have come on full force. There also is another very large disturbance ready to come off the African coast. My guess is by Wednesday we will have 3 named storms in the Atlantic.

If you live in Florida now is the time to prepare. I know many of us central Florida residents always feel that we will never get hit. However, it only takes one so be safe, be ready and prepare with plenty of time.

GETTING OLD (WHY IS THAT GROWING THERE)

First let me just start off by saying, NO that is not me!

I just turned 37 years of age and the older I get the more complicated my body becomes. Things use to be so easy. If you had a hot date, you would take a shower, shave a few rough patches on your chin, throw some deodorant on, a squirt of your cologne, got dressed and off you went.

Now a days it seems I need to check every pore on my head prior to going out. For example, last week my wife and I decided to head out for a nice night on the town. We get all dazzled up and get in the car. About half way to our destination my wife drops the bomb! What is that hanging off your ear? Apparently I had this 2 1/2 inch long hair hanging from my ear lobe that I unfortunately missed while shaving. Are you kidding me? You wait until we are almost at our destination to inform me of this. This hair was so long I could have probably replaced my shoe laces with this thing and no one would have noticed. So anyways, I am now in defcon 4 mode waging a full attack against this one piece of hair. I am pulling it so hard that my ear lobe is almost reach my shoulder. Finally my wife joins in the war and grabs it with her finger nails and rapidly pulls. She won and got it out but what the heck. Is this what I have to look forward to with getting old. Like its not bad enough that my hair line is receding it is now just starting to show up in places that I never thought was possible.

Hair transplants, hair replacements, hair growth shampoo, how about coming up with something that keeps the unwanted hair from growing in places that in never belonged in the first place.

Well its Friday night which means another night out on the town. So let the inspection begin and lets see what I happen to find this time.

The start of another season is rapidly approaching. The ice coolers are coming out of the closets, the banners are ready to be placed, and all the wives are trying to figure out what to do every Sunday for the next several months.

Eli Manning was just made the highest player in the NFL. I cannot disagree with this more. I mean yes they won a Superbowl with Eli, but was it really because of his skills? If it wasn't for the miracle catch by Tyree this game would have been over.

How is this guy expected to lead a team. His shoulders are always crunched over, he has that constant "DUH" look on his face, and never really seems to have his head in the game.
The real question here is if you took away the incredible offensive line that the Giants have and you took away the amazing run game that they have, could Eli still be a decent QB. My thoughts are "What are you freaking kidding me?" Heck NO!

I read all of these other blogs and reporters saying that Eli is better than his brother, more accurate, blah blah blah. Are any of you actually watching this guy play? This QB has had more luck than the Elf at the end of the rainbow. He is surrounded with talent and that is the only thing that makes this guy half way decent.

I would love to see what David Carr could do if he was to play in the starting line up. I know all of your haters are saying haven't you seed David Carr flop with every team he was with. YES! However, every team he has played with had zero offensive line and he was constantly being sacked.

I guess we will get a little taste on Monday when pre-season Giants football kicks off!

HERE IS SOME TRULY UNBELIEVABLE NEWS. SOME GUY WALKS INTO A BANK IN ANCHORAGE ALASKA, HANDS THE TELLER HIS ID AND GIVES HIS ACCOUNT NUMBER AND THEN DECIDES TO ROB THE BANK. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? HOW STUPID CAN YOU BE?

WHATS NEXT? WAIT I HAVE AN IDEA. LET ME GO TO MY LOCAL GROCERY STORE, ASK FOR THE MANAGER, WALK HIM OVER TO THE MILK AISLE, OPEN A CARTON OF MILK AND SPILL IT IN THE AISLE AND THEN WALK OVER THE MILK AND PURPOSELY SPILL AND FALL. CAN I THEN FILE A LAWSUIT AND ASK FOR COMPENSATION?

How loud can your yawn possibly be? I mean c'mon 21 days for yawning to loud in a court room. What is this World coming too? I mean if it was an extremely loud fart that everyone heard and the smell was so bad that the court room had to be evacuated then I could agree. But a yawn, not a burp, not a fart, not someone making that funny noise when they cup their hand under their arm pit, but a yawn. "SHUT THE FRONT DOOR"!! This could not be possible.

Plaxico Burress (old news) Help me understand?

Did you hear that? I think I just shot myself in the leg!

Burress makes millions of dollars every year. He can afford just about anything he could possibly want. So please help me understand why in the World would you carry a loaded gun into a night club???? Mr. Burress you can hire an army of bodyguards to walk every step with you and surround you in your VIP room but yet you felt the need to carry a loaded gun? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Now lets talk about the not so wonderful weapon of your choice that you were carrying. Hmmm I believe it was a Glock. Now readers please correct me if I am wrong but I do believe the Glock in question here has the safety situated right on the trigger. So if someone like, I don't know, Plaxico Burress were to stick his huge hands into his pocket and one if his fingers happened to hit the trigger and pull up there would be a very good chance that the gun might just go off. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

So to wrap things up, someone anyone please help me understand why these athletes decide to carry weapons? I understand they are celebrities and are potential targets but this is what happens when you decide to be a professional athlete. They are being paid millions. Is it worth losing everything????
