Here is a brief explanation of some of the questions
you may have about using the TNSkywarn Weather Message board.

Enter your call sign and / or your personal name. Because this is a private forum, use of handles is discouraged. Any users not using either their call sign will be removed unless this has been approved by the Board admin. This is a required field.

Entering Your E-Mail Address

A valid email address is required to post within this board. Entering your email address allows others reading your message to respond to you via email. If you do not wish to use your real email address please contact the Board Admin for a TNSkywarn email forwarder to use for your additional protect. This is a required field.

Entering The Subject

This should be a few words summarizing the topic of your message. After posting your message, this is the line that others see when viewing the index of messages. A good descriptive subject line helps others identify the subject matter of your message. This is a required field.

Entering Your Message

This is the heart of the board. By being clear and concise, your questions can be easily answered, your opinions and thoughts are better conveyed. When complete, you are given the option of previewing the message before actually posting it on the board. To edit your message, simply press the [Back] button on your browser. This is a required field.

Entering Optional Link URLs

The Optional Link URL field allows you to enter the full URL for a link elsewhere on the Web. Enter the complete URL here. This is an optional field. Example: http://www.eboards4all.com/index.html

Entering Link Title

The Link Title field is used in conjunction with the Optional Link URL. Enter the title/name of the page linked under Optional Link URL. This is an optional field. Example: eBoards4all.com

Entering Optional Image URL

The Optional Image URL allows the linking of a graphic image elsewhere on the Web. Enter the full URL of the image to be displayed at the top of the message. This should not be used unless the image to be displayed is directly related to the subject matter of the post and you have permission to user the image. Articles with linked images that are excessive in size, or contain images that you do not have permission to use may be removed without notice. This is an optional field.

Can I put HTML tags anywhere in my posts?

No. You can not use HTML tags in any field except body of the message.

Why are there colons in the message when I try to post a follow up?

Colons appear in the message dialog box when you try to follow up on a message to indicate that those lines are quoting the previous document.

Why didn't my post show up?

Your post most likely did not show up, because your browser did not reload the page, it simply pulled it out of cache. Please reload your browser and it should then appear.

Content Restrictions?

Content that is not allowed on your post.

Hello Everyone!

We would like to welcome everyone one to the home for the East Tennessee Skywarn District 5 and District 6 Skywarn Groups.

Currently Our Site is undergoing some major redesigns and updates to reflect the new uses in technology to provide everyone current information as soon as possible.

We now have near real time weather warning bar that automatically appears on the website once an alert, advisory, watch or warning is issued from the National Weather Service (NWS). The script that controls this refreshes the date every 2 minutes from the NWS RSS feeds page. The page has a auto refresh feature that updates itself every 15 minutes but can manually refreshed any time buy simply pressing F5 on your keyboard.

All the District 5 & 6 coordinators have email address's that anyone can mail them with question or comments about the web site or local activities we Skywarn. Also anyone who would like to have a call sign email address to use is welcome to have one. (aka your call sign @ tnskywarn.com) These are email forwarder accounts that will forward to your real email address. We are planning to continue the weather warning email system that we used before. The previous version used a paid service, the new one will come directly from the website and still as before will free to anyone who wants the information. I have a wonderful friend who helps me out with free hosting & lots of free custom programming for all my websites. Please take the time to visit her website http://www.roanetnhistory.org/ Once she has the code developed enough to beta test we will start the testing process before we release it to the public. A new feature that we will be starting soon is a news letter that will tie into local events that involve either Skywarn or the NWS. Just clink on the link that says newsletter to sign up. All information will be kept private and not sold or released to any 3 rd party.
