Really Rand? Romney? Someone who has flip flopped on every issue, had a horrible record concerning job creation in Massachusetts, a man who masquerades as a Conservative but is really a Progressive, who stated he isn't going to go after the Federal Reserve and that Bernanke is doing a good job.. your practically endorsing Romney for President?

I didn't donate my money to Ron Paul, volunteer countless hours knocking on doors, phonebanking, blogging, and waving signs just to "grow the Republican Party".

My hope is not in the Republican Party.. My hope is in the ideals of our Founding Fathers: Liberty, sound money, peace, self determination, and freedom from an oppressive government.

I am starting to think that the new official campaign strategy is to water down the Ron Paul Revolution and repackage it for a Rand Paul Revolution in 2016. As it stands now, I will not be jumping aboard the Rand Paul train... Maybe these comments? blunders? new directions? by Rand Paul and Jesse Benton are designed to weed out supporters like me.. who are more into liberty and the philosophy of freedom than compromising and going along to get along with the Republican Establishment.. I don't know..

No hard feelings Rand.. I wish you the best and I hope you remember what your father taught you and all of America as you move forward in your political aspirations.

As for me, it was fun. I will continue to support Ron Paul until he announces that it's over.

Gun control, hot button issues and Freedom

So why is it that political bodies feel the need to continuously create new legislation and laws? Is the world changing that much. Simple answer.... no.

More and more laws and regulations are not the answer to anything. Political choices made around the world are doing nothing about freedom. In fact they are doing quite the opposite in curtailing freedom and creating bureaucratic repression. We don't need more legislation and laws, etc we need to make the ones we have work and where they don't work to get rid of them.

When you see the same agenda and speeches given in parliaments, senates, Dumas, etc with almost the same wording you know it's an agenda.

That's what these Bilderberg and Davos meetings are all about. The politicians show up to these meetings, get marching orders from the elite's and go back to their respective countries and implement the will of the elite's. Not unlike lobbying except the decision maker's go to the lobbyists instead of the other way around. Having said that getting rid of lobbying in government would go a long way to correcting a good deal of corruption.

Advocating violence/repression against another group or idea using government in anti-Freedom. For instance when someone uses to tool of government to get their way against someone else they disagree with then they play into oppression. A good example being so called "gun-control" laws. People who don't like firearms (and that's fine nobody says you have to like them) create groups (that play into the hands of oppression) that feel that because they don' like guns nobody else should and that if you do you should be a criminal because you disagree with them. Conversely if the gun owners were as vociferous about ownership should they not lobby to make everyone own them because they don't like the non gun owners opinions?

No as again it would just create an oppression yet again. However I would argue for gun ownership as only the slaves throughout history were unarmed( the Janissaries being an exception), again though my opinion and not one I would use government oppression to foist on others.

There are countless parallels in using this example for instance saying people can't own/raise chickens in their backyards or smoke marijuana. Neither of which I am involved in but why would I try to begrudge others from doing something that brings me no harm?

Many issues such as abortion, political affiliation, unions, gun ownership the so called "hot-button" issues again involve personal choices and have no larger effect on others but are pushed around the political circus and create division and divide friends and family. WHICH IS WHERE "THEY" WANT YOU! A divided populace has been seen all throughout history as a tool of elites to maintain control. So what side of the fence do you sit on? Why does there have to be a fence? Are you right wing or left wing? Why superscribe your ideas to a bird? - eVs

You, the State, and Dog Ownership

I'm hanging out with my awesome dog, and had I thought. Even though I love this guy to death and I try to make his life as happy as possible, giving him too many dog treats, building a damn fence just so he can run around without a leash, etc., I still maintain control over his life.

And of course the reason for that is because he is a dog and there's a trade off - he gets less freedom in return for a safer, less hungry life as well as my companionship. And we could argue that he might be happier living in his natural state in the wild, but he seems to like me, and he's not constantly trying to overthrow me or dash out the door every time I open it. Most of the time he is asleep in my bed, so I assume I have his consent.

And in no way am I advocating a human society where we each have a 1-on-1 master/slave relationship. What I'm thinking about is human motivation.

Now, what if I controlled over 300 million dogs? I couldn't possibly love and take proper care of all of them, no matter how "good" a person I was. It's just logistically impossible. By statistical standards, even if 3 million of them died as a result of my actions, that's only 1%. I'd still have scored a A+. I'm reminded of a speech Rothbard gave in the early 90s talking about the newly collapsed USSR. He basically says, "They couldn't calculate!", in his hilarious voice.

But if I forget to feed my dog in the morning, I feel like an absolute bastard for days. If he gets sick I drop everything and take him to the vet. Its the personal connection I have with him that propels me to cooperate with him. And I think it's the same basic thing that happens with politicians. Obama doesn't give a shit about me, he doesn't even know me. But he might actually care about the people he works with in his administration daily. I'm sure he cares about his family. If he screwed life up for his kids, he would have to live with that every day.

So I think this is yet another aspect to approach the critique of statism (not that it needs another one); that even despite a person's best intentions, it is just impossible to act in the best interests of people you don't even know. And because you don't have to really face them, you can make those "tough" decisions and cave in to the demands of the ones you do know; the LOUDER ones, the lobbyists, your "advisors", other government leaders. And once again, this assumes quite naively that our leaders are actually giving the tiniest of rabbit shits about us.

So even if we were to find those politicians who are good people, who truly care about us all, that argument for statism would still fail based on the problem of calculation, and the fact that if a human, given the power to choose, has to choose exclusively between the well being of two equally deserving people, they will choose the person with whom they have a more personal relationship.

The only good politician is the one who will work to destroy his own job, to reduce large control into smaller, one-on-one levels that become more personal. And while even that would be too much government, it is my hope that we can carry out this dismantling in such a fashion so as to minimize shock and ensure a stable transformation. If that's not possible, as Rothbard believed, then we'll have to take faster steps (Rothbard said that if there was a red button he could press to immediately abolish the government, he would break his finger pushing it).

This election is just that. We are playing their game by their rules, but I feel that we might be approaching the last round. Not by our choice, but because they have broken the game, dishonored the rules, and made it impossible to win.

Tennessee Republican Assembly Endorses Santorum?!?

In an effort to ignore Ron Paul and the two hundred new Conservative\/Tea Party type voters who showed up at the TRA event, the TRA has endorsed Rick Santorum for President.

Rick Santorum isn't on the ballot in Virginia, has no ground game in Tennessee, and has no delegates in Tennessee. Santorum failed to bother to get himself on the ballot in Virginia and is probably going to drop out of the Presidential Race.

The entrenched Political Machinery of Nashville, TN needs a good mechanic to perform an overhaul on their strategical response system. To endorse a faltering candidate and ignore a young new base of Conservative Voters is political suicide.

I have been really impressed with the Grassroots Volunteers for Ron Paul in Tennessee. They have been going door to door for months, hosting Ron Paul Tables at Gun Show, and making targeted phone calls to share the message of freedom. To ignore such a large group of enthusiastic Constitutional Conservatives who are doing this with no funding or direction from an official campaign is incomprehensible.
