This looks a pretty good sock pattern. I will look forward to trying it on the return of my knitting machine which is being serviced. I have this thing at the moment - I want to knit socks. I have tried knitting by hand and am absolutely useless. I have knitted a lot of socks I am loving the King Cole Marled wool which forms a sort of zigzag pattern. I will let you knwo how I get on. Thank you for the pattern. regards Phyllis

Heh. I scored pretty similarly: NBPS, one different. "The Idealist."

"You perceive the world with particular attention to nature. You focus on the hidden treasures of life (the background) and how that fits into the larger picture. You are also particularly drawn towards the shapes around you. Because of the value you place on nature, you tend to find comfort in more subdued settings and find energy in solitude. You like to ponder ideas and imagine the many possibilities of your life without worrying about the details or specifics. You are in tune with all that is around you and understand your life as part of a larger whole. You prefer a structured environment within which to live and you like things to be predictable."

I always think I'm analyzing too much when I take these things. English major busybrain, thinking, "Wow, I sure avoid people and all their devices, don't I. Did I say sky before? Why didn't I focus on the sky this time? Why is this tree so much more compelling? Why don't they have more conifers?"

Seems word got out and a brave citizen contacted our state senator... who told the governor, and immediate action was taken to lift the bureaucratic red tape... allowing neighboring electric companies to come in a help out! Yay! The communities involved have been assured they would have electricity before this day is out... the action could help other communities like ours too. And I might add that, as of last night, two hot meals a day are being served in both towns near us...

Please pray for the many displaced people who lost everything and have no where to turn; many escaped with only the clothes on their backs. They are safe, they are being fed and hopefully they can get their lives started over, in time. Texas is a great state! Many heartening stories coming in.

I'm not sure how many of the citizens even know there's a possible solution being withheld from them. With the power out, they have limited means of communication. It's a very rural area, and cell phone coverage is pretty spotty, so I don't know how many people have working cell phones, or a way to charge them once the batteries run down, which most probably have by now.

They're not the sort to raise a fuss, and I imagine they're probably doing what they always do, looking for ways to cope and checking on neighbors to make sure everyone's okay, and digging in to wait things out. But it's also not a wealthy area, and there are a lot of folks there who won't have resources to wait it out for very long.

Beyond frustrating. Sounds like the best thing that the citizens of Caldwell can do would be to get an excellent lawyer who will act on their behalf.

I hope you become a nursing professor, and then a nursing dean, and scour the bad 'uns from the Earth. That's what I hope.

Also...I could not bear to take a class like the math class you've described. Part of learning is finding what works for *you*, and to insist that the students use a canned system rather than learning...well, it makes you seem like a factory rather than a university. Nuts to them!

That's on a par with my favorite so far. ER screener to depressed patient: "Have you been drinking alcohol today?" Patient: "No." Then, brightening considerably, "Do you think it would help?"

I've run into situations similar to this one as well. My first career was freelance medical editing, and I've had teachers who can't even spell "nursing" insert errors into my papers and deduct points for things that weren't wrong. The teacher who is supposed to teach us how to write professional nursing papers provides class notes that could be easily confused with the scrawlings of an illiterate Armenian peasant ("anitdepressants," anyone? how about instruction in "psychitric nursing"?). The educational experience would be vastly enriched if faculty would recognize and cultivate the diversity of experience embodied in most nursing student bodies these days; probably half my class is in school for their second career. It's actually perplexing. I'm not an expert in most things, and I have no problem admitting it and accepting the input of those who ARE experts. Most nursing educators appear to feel that they must be experts in everything, and that's just not possible. Is it defensiveness? I leave that to the psych nurse!

That's the thing -- it's *not* part of HIPAA. It's an overreaction based on misinterpretation of HIPAA.

HIPAA protects people's privacy concerning medical treatment. So if I tell you about a patient and let slip enough details to allow you to figure out who the patient was, I've violated HIPAA, because now you know who they are and that they are undergoing medical treatment. But that would require something like a name, age, partial address, or maybe a peculiar/unusual medical condition that not many people have. A gender and a made-up name simply do not constitute enough information to qualify as a privacy violation!
