The WRAF Ministry of the Week is the Smoky Mountain Prenancy Care Center.

The Smoky Mountain Pregnancy Care Center is a Christian non-profit organization ministering to women and men who are facing an unplanned pregnancy. They have two medical clinics that offer free pregnancy tests and ultrasounds. They strive to be the hands and feet of Jesus to those who are making decisions that will affect them for the rest of their lives. Their life-affirming belief is that all life is precious and given by God. They have clinics in Franklin and Cullowhee, staffed daily by nurses. Volunteers from the community are a huge part of this ministry and its ten year success. A board of directors and a medical director complete this ministry to Western North Carolina and North Georgia.

The event, which was enjoyed by literally thousands, via a live, national television audience and sold-out crowds, was hosted by numerous cities, including Atlanta, Charlotte and Phoenix.

This year, the event returns to the city where it all began, as the Gaithers bring this year’s New Year's Eve celebration, to the Gwinnett Center in Atlanta (Duluth) on Saturday, December 31, 2011.

For nearly half a century, multiple Grammy and Dove award winners, Bill & Gloria Gaither have been musical trailblazers. Their reputation as songwriters and mentors for newly discovered singers and musicians is known worldwide. Their beloved Homecoming series continues to top national music and video sales charts. Fans who have loved and followed Gaither music for years are thrilled with the return of the Jubilaté New Year’s Eve concert. “The Holidays can be a very sad and lonely time for some, yet very exciting and festive for others,” Bill Gaither states. “Regardless, it’s a time that should be spent among friends, and what better way to spend it than with thousands of people, enjoying great music, ringing in the new year.”

Guests of Jubilaté will usher in the New Year with special music, comedy and many surprises. Past events have included a balloon drop and fireworks at midnight. Jubilaté will feature a cavalcade of singers and musicians, whose collective talents have been honored with countless awards. Joining the Gaithers and their multi-award winning Gaither Vocal Band, featuring Mark Lowry, David Phelps, Michael English and Wes Hampton, include Ernie Haase & Signature Sound, The Martins, The Isaacs, Taranda Greene, Gene McDonald, Gordon Mote, Karen Peck & New River, Lynda Randle and Kevin Williams (all artists subject to change).

Tickets for the December 31 event at the Gwinnett Center are available at all Ticketmaster outlets.
November is National Adoption Month, a month set aside each year to raise awareness about the adoption of children and youth from foster care. The 2011 theme for National Adoption Month is Build Capacity to Make Lasting Change.

The first major effort to promote awareness of the need for adoptive families for children in foster care occurred in Massachusetts in 1976, when Governor Michael Dukakis announced an Adoption Week. The idea grew in popularity and spread nationwide. In 1984, President Reagan proclaimed the first National Adoption Week, and in 1995, under President Clinton, the week was expanded to the entire month of November.

Every November, a Presidential Proclamation launches activities and celebrations to help build awareness of adoption throughout the nation. Thousands of community organizations arrange and host programs, events, and activities to share positive adoption stories, challenge the myths, and draw attention to the thousands of children in foster care who are waiting for permanent families.
Autism is the fastest-growing developmental disability in the United States.* Today, 1 in 110 children is diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder, a 600% increase in the past 20 years.

Despite this prevalence, research shows that many parents of young children are generally unaware of autism. This campaign seeks to educate parents about the growing rate of autism in this country and to ultimately increase the level of early detection. To this aim, PSAs encourage parents of young children to visit www.autismspeaks.org to learn the early signs of the disorder.

Because there is currently no cure for autism and no effective means to prevent it, early detection is the crucial first step in helping children with autism. With appropriate early-intervention services from ages 3-5, between 20% and 50% of children diagnosed with autism will be able to attend mainstream kindergarten.
The goal is to raise enough money to sponsor over 300 BibleSticks that will be made available through the chaplains to encourage the men and women serving in America's armed forces.

"We are truly excited about partnering with Faith Comes By Hearing by providing Military BibleSticks to the many service men and women who need to be encouraged and strengthen spiritually," states Mike Shelley, assistant station manage and host of The Morning Show. "What better gift could we give to our military?"

FCBH continues to look to Christian radio as a partner to inform the public about the overwhelming demand for Military BibleSticks from chaplains and troops. The ministry is currently working to eliminate a backorder of more than 12,000 requests. "Stations like WRAF, and others across the nation, are truly a blessing to our troops and continue to be
faithful to meet our call for their help," says Marine veteran Jon Wilke, spokesman for the Military BibleStick project.

Faith Comes By Hearing initiated their military outreach in 2008 and has provided more than 100,000 BibleSticks to troops through nearly 700 members of the U.S. Armed Forces' chaplaincy corps.

Emergencies happen everyday and The Ready Campaign educates Americans about preparing for and responding to emergencies, including natural disasters and potential terrorist attacks. Ready asks individuals to do three key things: get an emergency supply kit, make a family emergency plan and be informed about different types of emergencies and appropriate responses to each.

Beginning August 29, the preaching of Pastor Jentezen Franklin will be heard over Toccoa Falls Radio weekdays at 3:00 AM.

Jentezen is the pastor of Free Chapel in Gainesville, GA and of Free Chapel Orange County, CA.

Here are some of his thoughts about the new outreach through radio:

I believe the blessings of God are intended to enlarge our territory and to reach more people right where they are with the message of the Gospel.

You have likely heard of the book titled, The Prayer of Jabez, written by my good friend, Dr. Bruce Wilkinson. The powerful truth behind Jabez' simple prayer has helped millions of people realize how much more God desires to do through us when we ask...

And I have been asking!

Notice what Jabez prayed: "Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!" (1 Chronicles 4:10).

That is not a prayer for selfish gain. It covers every area of a believer's life. I believe there is greater success, greater influence, greater power and greater protection waiting to be released in each of our lives as we press in and pray in faith as Jabez did.

If there is one prayer that every believer should pray today it is to enlarge their territory—their influence—for the Gospel—to "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations..." as Jesus commanded us to do (Matt. 28:19-20).

When Bruce Wilkinson ministered at our Georgia campus recently, he also agreed to be my guest on Kingdom Connection. The Lord used our time together to confirm many things, specifically, our next step forward in enlarging the territory for Kingdom Connection—through the power of radio.

I believe this new radio ministry has the potential to reach people we could have never reached any other way—perhaps even your own friends, family and co-workers.

Please join with us to pray, fast and sow into this radio ministry. You will help us connect 5 times more often than we currently do through our television ministry alone.

I truly appreciate your commitment to help us carry the message of the Gospel to those who need to hear it. May God bless you abundantly!

I was unaware of the symptoms of diabetes and I didn't feel sick. But when the diagnoses came in that I had Type 2 diabetes I was shocked! Needless to say I got right to work to learn more about this silent epidemic. More than 2 million people are diagnosed with type 2 each year and more are unaware they are at risk.

You can reduce your risk of diabetes by lowering your cholesterol and your blood sugar through diet and exercise. Learn the symptoms and get tested. The promise that God’s Word “does not return void” is true and we can’t wait to share how the Bible preaching and teaching ministry of Toccoa Falls Radio is impacting listeners just like you.

The goal is $200,000 in listener support towards our annual budget of $558,000.We invite you to be in prayer for the Care-a-thon seeking how He would have you participate through giving to the operational needs during our Spring fundraiser.

I’m truly excited about our partnership with Bible League International. Their ministry is actively involved in getting Bibles to the persecuted church around the world. Scott Thunder, host of Word and Worship Weekly, will join us during Care-a-thon with news of how, together, we can get God’s precious Word into the hands of those who need it most. WRAF will be giving a tithe of funds raised during this time to this much needed project.

Join us for these three wonderful days of praising God and discovering how He is at work through WRAF and Bible League International. If you are not already a monthly giver, let me encourage you to consider that option. Monthly gifts are the life-blood of what we do and our goal is to see many friends help out in this vital way. Click here to set up a recurring gift on the day of the month that works best for you.

Care-a-thon FAQ

What is Care-a-thon?

Care-a-thon is our bi-annual fundraiser that sets the pace for our yearly budget. Twice a year we set aside time to ask you to be a part of the story providing hope and encouragement over Toccoa Falls Radio and reaching people for Jesus.

How is my contribution used?

Your contribution is chiefly to impact lives and families across the listening areas through Christ-centered music and Biblical preaching and teaching. It literally keeps the stations of Toccoa Falls Radio on the air day and night and goes toward electricity, equipment, maintenance, phone lines, bandwidth, towers, transmitters, translators, antennas, music licensing, legal fees, salaries and more.

Is my contribution tax-deductable?

Yes, WRAF is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

Do you really need my contribution?

Yes, because we are a non-commercial station, we depend on your contribution.

How much do you need?

Our goal for our Spring Care-a-thon is $200,000, out of our annual budget need of $558,000 for 2011.

How can I give?

You can give a one-time gift or set up a monthly gift through your credit/debit card or bank account. Donate safely and securely here, or you can call 1-800-251-8326.

What’s a faith-promise?

A faith-promise is the intention to give a gift to WRAF and having faith that the Lord will provide for you to fulfill your promise within the next year.

What’s a Daysponsor?

Day sponsors make a significant portion of a broadcast day possible. When you become a Daysponsor, you’re able to pick a date (assuming that day is still available) for your sponsorship announcement to air and you get to pick what the message says. You get to share special thoughts and commemorate your special event with our entire listening family! Plus, you’re helping to change lives through Christian radio -- WRAF with your gift!

If you are compelled to see lives changed through the power of God’s Word, please consider making a faith-promise of support during Care-a-thon 2011!
