You Could Have Lived Like Tyler Florence

Tyler Florence's is a chef and television host for several Food Network shows. If you haven't been to one of his restaurants in Northern California, go now. My personal favorite is Wayfare Tavern in San Francisco, not only for the food, but I also love the decor. His Mill Valley house just sold in February 2014 for $1.955. The 2,523 square foot house has 5 bedrooms and 2 baths (eek). It was built in 1926 and is an iconic Mill Valley home, named, "The Creek House". It's in walking distance to town and multiple areas for hiking and biking. Take a peek...

Beverly Hills Done Right

Dave DeMattei and Patrick Wades Beverly Hills home states perfectly who they are and where they have been. They have been partners for 30 years and worked for companies like Coach, West Elm, Banana Republic, J. Crew, William Sonoma and lastly at Lucky Brand. They have an elegant, classic and chic style which is evident throughout their gorgeous 5,000 square foot home.

If I had to...

I suppose if I really had to, if you twisted my arm, if it was my last resort... I would live here :-)

This house is modern, but it looks like a home, and of course the views are spectacular. I love everything about this house designed by Barbara Bestor. Take a look...

Not only was it a pleasure working with the home owner, Charlotte Hale of Plum Pretty Sugar, but we were fortunate enough to have it photographed by Bryce Covey and featured on Style Me Pretty Living. Updated Interior for an Eichler Home

Developer/Builder Joseph Eichler's homes are icons of mid-century design. This particular Eichler home in Palo Alto, CA needed some TLC on the inside and that's where contractor Scott Flegel came in. He worked with the Finlay-Lister family to update this home, but keep it true to it's design. This 2,000 square foot home with 4 bedrooms and 2 1/2 bathrooms is ready to impress...

They left the exterior pretty much as it was.

Interior Designer, Alison Damonte was brought in to help select furniture and accessories.

The floor to ceiling windows are classic Eichler.

They reconfigured the kitchen to make room for a dining table.

This kitchen is so sleek and modern. Notice the mirror backsplash?

Love the black wall...

Going Green

I've been obsessed with the idea of painting our island green and switching out the hardware to brass. So, with that being said I am on the hunt for the perfect green. I've picked a few of my favorite photos to share and a few paint colors as well. I'll let you know what we decide.

This was the original picture that inspired me, but I wasn't totally sure that was the right green for us. It's a contender, but we are going to sample 3-4 greens...

Farrow & Ball: Arsenic

These greens are a little more on the emerald/kelly green side, which is more what I was thinking for our kitchen...

$13 million and Change

A house came up today on California Home and Design that is already amazing, but it needs a little TLC. It's listed by The Agency and is going for a cool $13 million. Hopefully, whomever the buyer is, saves a little extra on the side for some updating. This 1969 house is just over 10,000 square feet and it sits on approximately 3.2 acres of land at the end of Rustic Canyon in Los Angeles. The house, designed by Kenneth Lind, is a mid-century gem filled with light and space. It boasts 10 bedrooms, 8 baths and a pool. The architecture is amazing, but it needs some updated design work by someone that can appreciate what the home already has to offer.

A little fresh paint and landscaping would brighten this up...

These doors are amazing, but again, some paint and new lighting would just add to it...

This room has a long list of updates it needs, so just take it all in for now...

It seems as though the kitchen already has a great layout...

Paint and flooring...

The obvious, new landscaping...

Mid-Century Redo in the Bay Area

This fabulous Mid-Century house was recently renovated by Sean Gaston of Bee Renovated. It's a 4 bedroom, 3 1/2 baths and it's on the market for $1.198. The basement was completely redone along with the kitchen and much more. One of the best features of the house is that all the major rooms and outdoor spaces look West towards the Bay and the hills of Marin County. For more information check California Home and Design or the listing from The Grubb Company Realtors...

Black and White Chic

For those of you that might have missed it, Tobi Tobin's house was in the May Issue of House Beautiful. The house is mostly in black and white and neutrals and so chic. I love everything about this house...

Love the simplicity of the wall of mirrors...

Amazing chandelier...

So warm and inviting...

Love the vintage screen door and the fabulous wallpaper...

Nothing quite like a touch of glam in the kitchen...

This backyard just screams dinner party...

Backsplash Trend for 2013

It's all about adding pattern and/or color to kitchens these days and the biggest trend we are seeing are Moroccan inspired tiles for the backsplash. I do and always will love subway tile and they will be always be a classic, but this look is coming in as a close second for me...

I am absolutely obsessed with everything in this kitchen

and the tile work is just the icing on the cake.

This is good option for those that want something different, but aren't quite ready to take on too much pattern. Try a solid Moroccan inspired tile.

Two Peas in a Pod

Todd Nickey and Amy Kehoe started their design firm in 2004 and have been unstoppable ever since. They bring a modern eclectic look to all of their projects. They think outside of the box and make each space it's own. Check out their website for more photos of their projects and also to see what amazing vintage finds they have at their store in Los Angeles.

Large and in Charge in Bel Air, ugh...

Okay, as if I don't already love California Home + Design enough, blogger, Erin Feher, has just won my heart. She wrote a great post about Kim Kardashian and Kanye Wests new home in Bel Air and she couldn't have been more spot on and honest, not only about the home, but also bringing light to the SoCal trend of building these obscene over-the-top homes. Her blog post gives her opinion of how one could actually make this home livable and stylish, good luck ;-)

Here is the back view of the 14,000 square foot monstrosity...

Quaint and Cozy in Sonoma

Once again California Home and Design has shared an amazing home with us. I am loving this little wine country home, built by Stephen Williamson, the CEO of Houseplans.com. Williamson and his wife tested one of the plans from the site and the result is this adorable ranch style home. It's 2,994 square feet with three bedrooms and three and half baths. The home is located on a beautiful wooded site in Sonoma, CA. For more details check out Dan Gregory's blog. Here are a few pics of the house...

Revamp Your Bedroom

John Robshaw has some gorgeous new bedding. I pretty much always love anything in navy, but I especially love the mix of the floral feminine print with the geometric masculine print.

Bombay Collection

Also, loving this subtle floral print. It's girly, but it's not overbearing. Fabulous!
