First Dance at Carmens

I had a great time.

Before the night started Steven dropped by the C Hotel for an hour of meet and greets, where I had the honour of taking portraits with him and  some of guests and supporters of the Charity of Hope.

Thank you Charity of Hope for having me along.

This is the first time I have photograph at the Cambridge Mill in Cambridge since all the changes to it. The new Chapel that is built right on the Grand River  edge is beautiful its almost built with all glass to see in every direction with the Grand river river flowing past.

This is where Monica and Sean had there ceremony. The sun was shinning in the chapel you would have never knowing it was -10c outside.

After the ceremony we had a short walk to the main building of the mill, were we brought all the family members together for the family pictures. Then we ventured outside with the wedding party to a snowy  parked across the street and nobody seem to care about the cold  they all were having to much fun.

Sean and Monica stuck it outside for a little more time but as always time seems to be the enemy on wedding days it goes so fast. So we had to come back in to start the reception.

The Olympics Games were on in Sochi and the big hockey game was the following day Sean and the groomsmen came up with the idea of wearing the Canada hockey shirts to enter the reception, that went over well with all the guests,

After dinner I suggest to Monica and Sean lets go up to the balcony on the third floor that looks over the Grand River and get a few Sunset shots. As you can see it was worth it.

It’s sometimes hard to to pull away the couple from there reception but for the 20 mins I think it is always worth it and I think the couples do to after they see there effort and the end result.

So meet Holly and John, they are getting married May 2014 and wanted to have there engagement photo session down this year. Great couple, I suggested a few locations, and was happy to they pick Caledonia.

Below is a little sneak peek of there hard work, they were such fun to photography, and judging from these shots Holly is going to make a stunning bride, I can’t wait to see her in her wedding dress and photograph the both of them together on there wedding day.

It was a very relaxed event,  Mykul kept telling me it was going to be one of my easier weddings I would cover. He was right the hole day flowed along without any issues from a photographers point of view, so hopefully it was the same for Paula and Mykul as they sure looked like they were having so much fun.

Having the hole wedding take place at Knollwood  Golf and Country Club in Ancaster was a good call, and also a great place for photography lots of options as you can see from the shots below. I hope I get a chance to shoot their again.

So what would be more fitting than  to have there wedding take place there. They picked a very unique place to have there ceremony at the Bird Kingdom  with tropical birds and scenery, water falls and a very special Japanese Tea Hut.

I think all there guest were clad they had the ceremony there, because the weather outside was not pleasant at all. The wind was blowing about 70klm and the wind chill was very cold and to top it off snow showers this was a day like February not the middle of April.

After the ceremony we took advantage of the indoor location for all the family portraits and most of the bridal shots. And so with all these tropical birds flying around what do you think happened. Yes, Greg got the lucky bird poop, or so I am told it is lucky to get hit by bird poop.

We did however venture outside to go across the street to the  gardens but the wind was still blowing. I take my hat off to  Rachel for sticking it out with here bare shoulder dress and the Bridesmaids too because they were freezing by the time we got back to the Limo.

We ended up at Elements of the Falls Restaurant right beside the falls. The area that Rachel and Greg had there dinner tables set up gave you a perfect view of the falls.

Erin and all her family go back a few years now. I have had the honor to photograph all of the siblings, Melissa was the first wedding I covered , next was Matt and now it is Erin’s turn. Erin and Chris wedding is coming up in a few weeks, and I am looking forward to meeting everyone again.

Their wedding reception is going to be held at Lasalle  Park Pavilion in Burlington, May 24th.

Erin and Chris had two old bicycles they want to use for the engagement shoot that sounded great, I suggested Caledonia it has the old town old town look with the old bridge and train station would give there engagement portraits a dated look.

The day we pick was beautiful and the shoot was going well until Chris remembered he had left his wallet under a bench we used earlier. You got to agree that is the worst feeling loosing your wallet.

So off he went jumped in his car, got there no wallet, he ran down to people that were fishing at the grand river, no luck. But it just so happen a lady saw him looking for something from a distance so she walked back to Chris and asked him I guess you are looking for your wallet, and Chris said he gave her a big hug and thanked her. That must have been a big relieve.

It is good to know there are honest people around.
