Uamou is a cute character with horns designed by Ayako Takagi, and he’s always with his friend Boo the ghost. Recently Ayako opened her own shop in Akihabra, under the train line in the 2k540 facility. I decided to go see for my self what the place looks like, and it awesome! Lots of different Uamou figures and there is also a Uamou caffee in the same space.

So obviously right now, all the big news are about the earthquake aftermath, the tsunami victims and the current state of the nuclear power plants. I wish I could give you more information, but I’m not a news reporter, and this is just a puny photoblog after all. But I didn’t want to stop posting until everything settle completely, since it might takes many weeks, even months. So I’m uploading this photo of a sunset over Tokyo, and tell you at the same time, that from my point of view everything is pretty much back to normal in the big city. We are very lucky that no serious damage occurred in the area, and life is almost back as it was for most of Tokyo residents. Of course I am hoping that the people in the affected area will have the chance to go back to their normal life as soon as possible, even though we all know this will be a hard and long challenge.

Theses are the photos I took right after the earthquake. There was no electricity in my area and no traffic light was working.

It was so weird to see no lights in all the store. I should have stock on onigiri at that time. I didn’t know they would be a one hour line later.

This is my favorite Ramen place, they was still some people eating when I took the photos. I would have toughs all the bowl would have been spilled on the ground…

Trains are still close right now as I write this! Some people spend the whole day in the station hoping they would start again eventually.

All the students of the university gather outside. Some were in the swimming pool apparently, must have been so cold!

In the evening all the combini had an one hour + line!

It so weird to see all the street with no light, I went out a little bit later and it was pitch black!

Electricity is finally back! First thing I did was open my TV and MacBook. I’m glad that my building was build to survive such a big earthquake! Now I only need to clean up my apartment and find a restaurant that open!

I went for the first time at the top of Mori tower this week-end. I don’t know why I waited so long to go there, it probably one of the most famous attraction that every tourist do in their first few days in Tokyo, but for me, it took me more than a year to go up there! I will have more photo coming up soon.

I don’t know why, I was feeling for some Wonda’s coffee this morning after taking the train.

I discover a really cool designer toys store in Yokohama called “Sup!” They mostly have a kidrobot stuff, but really, is that a bad thing ^_^ I brought back a Munny home with me, I’ll try to figure out something cool to do with it. Munny is the most popular kidrobot character, and the main concept is that they sell blank ones ( or white if you prefer ) and you are suppose to color it yourself and make it unique. If you google “munny” you should get a lots of exemples!

Sugamo (巣鴨) is a neighborhood in Toshima, it is also known as “Obachan Harajuku” or “Old people harajuku”. You can find all sorts of clothing shops for the elderly of course, but also small stores that hold tea, dried snack, pickle veggies, flowers and all sorts of stuff your grand ma’ would like ( if she’s japanese )

I don’t want to turn this site into an otaku fest, but I think it pretty fun to shoot toys outside, makes them feel more alive! I will try to keep him in my camera bag and do this more often ^_^

This photo was taken near Shimbashi station, an area with tons of izakayas and bars. Seems like all the salary man of Tokyo meet each other for a beer after work in this district. It did not rain that day, but some owner of one of the bar decide to clean to street that night. I don’t like to waste water like that, but it does give good photo!

この写真は新橋駅の近くで撮影したもの。この辺りには居酒屋やバーなんかがたくさんあって、東京で働くサラリー マンたちが仕事終わりに集まる憩いの場になっているらしい。この日は雨は降っていなかったけど、地面が濡れていた。近くの店の人たちが、水を撒いて路地をキレイにしているみたい。水をムダにするのは良くないことだけど、写真の出来栄えには満足！

It snowed quite a lot the other day, and it was soooo cold! I only went out for basic needs, you know food and beer… I did take the time to take a few photos, just enough to freeze my fingers.

もう２月も半ばだっていうのに、このあいだ結構な量の雪が降ってすごく寒かった。家の外に出るのは、食べものとビールを買うときだけ。でも、せっかくだから数枚スナップを撮りました。指先が凍るかと思った！

I was on my way home last night and I had to transfer train in Shibuya, so I decided to spend a few minutes and capture some of the people crossing the busiest intersection in the world!

昨日の夜、家に帰る途中に渋谷に寄ってみた。世界で一番忙しい交差点を通過する人々の、表情をとらえるために。

I went to the CP+ Camera and Photo Imaging Show today. I was hoping to see something new and unique from Nikon, like the famous mirrorless dslr that was suppose to be annonce this week-end, but instead they only show five new coolpix, which don’t really interest me. Fuji came out with a cool/retro looking camera, which I think was the coolest thing to see this year. Beside that every booth had a bunch of girls to promote their products. Enjoy the photos.

今週末まで横浜で開催されているCP＋（シーピープラス：カメラと写真のイベント）に行ってきた。Nikon社のブースでは新しいcoolpixが５種類展示されていたけれど、僕が期待していたミラーレス一眼はまだ公開されていなかった。一番印象に残ったのはFuji社が展示していたレトロでスタイリッシュなデジカメ。今年一番の目玉だと思う。
