Type in Malayalam While Offline With Google Transliteration IME

Do you want to enter text in Malayalam/ Tamil? Google has launched its transliteration IME , which enables users to write in 14 languages.It allows people using an English language keyboard to type in the local language.Users can type a word the way it sounds using Latin characters and Google Transliteration IME will convert the word to its native script.

Google IME operates as a small bar that by default will be placed at the bottom right corner of your desktop ,which can also be moved around. It has four icons with leftmost being the application icon. Next to it are IME language indicator button, keyboard button and menu button in that order

You can customize many features through IME's menu.

Select the font and size to be used to display the choices in IME language inside edit window (Suggestion Font).

Select the font and size to be used to display the English/Roman characters inside edit window.

Set the page size for edit window to restrict its size through number of choices.

Enable or disable the persistence of user cache.

I have the blessings of Sai Baba to make a visit to shirdi on the 1st of November and get blessings.

We first went to Panchmukhi Vishnu ganapathy and after ashtithara archana, we left to upasana (sakura)math. Both the above places were serene and full of devotional atmosphere and very simple.

Then we visited Khandoba Mandir and in the aftenoon, we visited Chavdi and Dwarkamai. Then in the evening, we went for Baba Darshan.

The real cause of this disorder is clogging of the bronchial tubes with waste substance. This is due to incorrect feeding habits. Onions are also helpful in removing phelgm. A medium-sized onion must be crushed, the juice of one lemon added to it, and then one cup of boiling water poured on it. The root of the turmeric plant is valuable in a dry cough. The root must he roasted and powdered. This powder should be taken in three-gram doses two times daily, in the morning and evening.

A mixture comprising two grams of the pulp of the fruit, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of long pepper, and 2 teaspoons of honey should be managed for the treatment of this condition twice daily. Ingredients:

3 wrapped packs from club crackers divided (Waverly)
1 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 cups crushed graham cracker crumbs
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup butterscotch chips
2/3 cups peanut butter
Preparation:

Spray a 13x9x2-inch pan with cooking spray and line bottom with a single layer of crackers. Combine butter, sugars, graham cracker crumbs and milk in saucepan; bring to boil over medium heat and boil 5 minutes. Pour half of the sauce over crackers, then place another layer of crackers over the sauce. Pour remaining sauce over crackers, then arrange the third layer of crackers over sauce. In a saucepan combine chocolate and butterscotch chips, and peanut butter over low heat, stirring until smooth. Pour over top layer of crackers. Refrigerate until sauce is hardened. Cut into squares.
Makes about 20.

It all began in Plaza Hotel, New York City on the 10th of November 1983. Two Microsoft founders Paul Allen and Bill Gates officially announced their corporation’s first and next-generation graphical user interface operating system – Microsoft Windows.

Despite the criticism on stability and constantly being compared to their rivals Apple Macintosh, Microsoft Windows is still the most widely used operating systems in the world.

Windows 1.01 (1985)

Officially released on November 20, 1985, this 16-bit OS that cost less than 1MB in overall is Microsoft’s very first operating system that allows multi tasking with graphical user interface on PC platform that runs on MS-DOS 5.0.

Windows 1.03 (1986)

Introduced in 1986, Windows 1.03 is an upgrade to its previous predecessor Windows 1.01. Entire operating system cost about 2.2Mb hard disk space.

Windows 2.03 (1987)

Taking advantage of the speed of Intel 286/386 processor at that time, Windows 2.03 is a replacement for Windows 1.x. It also starts the era where users are able to overlap windows, customize screens, etc. Still the entire operating system cost no more than 2.5Mb.

Conversion of Numbers of Different Bases to Decimals

Consider the number 97531.

This is really: 9×10000 + 7×1000 + 5×100 + 3×10 + 1.

This can also be written as: 9×104 + 7×103 + 5×102 + 3×101 + 1×100.

There is nothing special about why we use base 10 except that humans have ten fingers.

In the world of electronics, the natural base is two, because it only has two states: on and off. We use “1” to signify on, and “0” to signify off. This is referred to as the “binary system.”

Example 1: Consider the binary number 1101011001.

To convert this to its decimal equivalent, we rewrite it as:
1×29 + 1×28 + 0×27 + 1×26 + 0× 25 + 1×24 + 1×23 + 0×22 + 0×21 + 1×20.

Or:
1×512 +1× 256 + 0×128 + 1×64 + 0×32 + 1×16 + 1×8 + 0×4 + 0×2 + 1 = 857.

Notice that we have chosen bases that are powers of two. Those are the numbers that followed the progression within computer science. Because it is more convenient to use higher bases to represent quantities because it requires less space, or slots, to do so. The final base that the computational progression settled on was base sixteen or hexadecimal. Using base16, the range of numbers multiplying the powers of the base have to range between “0” and “fifteen.” However, it was decided to represent the amounts from “ten” to “fifteen” by the letter A, B, C, D, E and F (i.e. A=10, B=11, C=12, D=13, C=14 and F=15).

With NHPC at Rs.36/- listed on 3 sep 2009, the market has started to show marks of recovery.

Jindal Cotex IPO is going to list on 22 September, 2009

Pipavav Shipping is going on at a range of Rs. 55/- to Rs. 60/-.

Euro Multivision Ltd. is an IPO which is coming wef 22 Sep 2009 and its price has been fixed at Rs.70/- to Rs.75/- per equity share and is coming with a face value of Rs.10/- per equity share. One can apply with a minimum bid of 90 equity shares and in multiples thereof.

Another IPO knocking on the door is Thinksoft Global Services Ltd. which is coming with a face value of Rs 10 and it has a price band fixed at Rs.120/- to Rs.130/- per equity share. One can apply in multiples of 50 equity shares.

I think the Indian Market has again became active for those players who play in IPO to make a quick profit.

Group Discussions

Group Discussion or GD as is commonly referred to, is akin to a football game, where one has to shine himself/herself as well as take the team along.

A Group Discussion at a B-School is normally a formal discussion involving ten to 12 participants in a group. They are given a topic. After about 3-4 minutes, during which time they (the participants) collect their thoughts, the group is asked to discuss the topic for 20 to 25 minutes. B-Schools use the GD process to assess a candidate's personality traits.

Leadership : The first and foremost quality a candidate should exhibit is leadership qualities in a group discussion.

In a group discussion, the candidate should seize the initiative right from the word go. The key is to be well read on the current socio-political scenario and the economic conditions.

In a group discussion, the candidate has to maintain a pleasing body-language throughout the group-discussion. Habits like playing with pen or shuffling in the seat or making any kind of noise or crossing arms or legs are a strict no-no.

In a group discussion when the time is given to prepare for the topic, the candidate should make sure that he/she makes enough points to last for the entire duration even if some of his ideas are taken up by other candidates.

In a group discussion, the candidate should maintain the lead seized by taking on the initiative. Many a times the contestants initiate the discussion only to lose their fizz next. Either they do not have much to speak after a few minutes or they take to mere coordination. Both the situations should be avoided. Ideally, the initiator should be able to provide leads to the discussion rather than being a mere facilitator.

If some candidate wants to contribute something to the discussion but is not getting a chance, try to involve him in the discussion. On the other hand, if a candidate is unwilling to speak do not push him because it would appear as if you are insulting him/her.

At the same time try to inspire the group for some out of the box solution. However, be sure of the logical culmination of such solution.

Communication Skills

In a group discussion, the power of expressions is at test. In a group discussion, a candidate has to talk effectively so that he is able to convey his thoughts and convince others about them. For convincing, one has to speak effectively. One can be pleasant and yet effectively put forth his view points. Remember you are Not expected to know each and every thing about each and every topic. At the same time, the candidate has to create an impact by effective presentation of his knowledge of the subject. A candidate who is successful in holding the attention of the audience creates a positive impact.

You should have ability to listen as well as. Do not put your point as if you are interrupting somebody. First be sure, what you want to say, bring a coherency in your ideas and then proceed. While putting your ideas, you should appear to continue the discussion and do not attempt to bring a disjuncture in a group discussion. If you attempt at one then be sure to carry that thought to a logical culmination.

In a group discussion, make sure that you are not taking up all the time by stammering or by taking up long pauses. One it creates bad impression and shows lack of confidence and secondly, the moment you do so, the lead may be taken up by some other candidate.

You should address the group as a whole and not appear to be looking to some particular person.

Do not be loud as if appear to scream. At the same time, be loud enough so that everybody hears you clearly.

Do not try to put a fake accent. Be your normal self. Putting up accent often leads to stammering.

Be clear about your ideas before you speak and do not lie about facts and figures.

It is not a war so avoid making personal remarks and overtly aggressive. At the same time be positive and try to seize initiative.

Emotional Quotient

In a group discussion, a candidate must remember to keep his emotions under check. On any given topic, emotions should be kept strictly under check. For e.g. should India go to war with Pakistan? Alternatively, how should Indian Cricket team be dealt with? On topics like these, a balanced view backed up with rationale should be taken rather than being charged up emotionally. These types of questions or topics are designed to test the emotional quotient of the candidate.

The candidate must leave scope for flexibility. If at the last moment, some other candidate come up with a very strong point contradicting your stand then you will be in a fix. So, leave little room for maneuvering.

At the same time try to take, some stand and do not appear to vacillate. This shows that the candidate is lacking in character to take decision.

Preparedness

The candidate must start preparing for group-discussion, just after the written examination. Do not wait till the call-letter. You may not get adequate time. It important to concentrate on subjects of your graduation as well as general knowledge and general awareness. Hence, the prime need for thorough preparation. Remember, the competition is very tough.

It may so happen that you are called for interviews and group discussions from three or four organizations but are not selected by any. The reason obviously lies in your not being well-prepared.

In a group discussion, you may be given a topic and asked to form an opinion on it. Alternatively, in a case study GD, students have to read a case study and suggest ways and means to solve the issue. For this you should have a good general knowledge, you need to be aware of the current affairs, should regularly read newspapers and magazines. Your group behaviour and communication skills are on test, i.e. how you convince the others and how clearly you are able to express your point of view. You should be articulate, generate ideas, avoid being repetitive, should give others to speak, and take a position on a given subject. During the course of the GD this stand can even be changed, giving the impression that you are open to accommodate others' viewpoints.

What is BSNL Broadband Service?

Broadband refers to a connection that has capacity to transmit large amount of data at high speed. Presently a connection having download speeds of 256 kbps or more is classified as broadband. When connected to the Internet such a connection allows surfing or downloading much faster than a dial-up or any other narrowband connections. BSNL offers 2 Mbps minimum download speed for its Broadband connections.

2	What is ADSL?

ADSL stands for Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line. It is a technology that allows copper telephone pairs to be used to provide a broadband connection. It provides ‘always-on’ Internet connection that is automatically established once the PC and ADSL modem are switched on.

3	What is always-on? service? Will there be call charges?

Always-on means that the ADSL broadband sets up a permanent connection to the internet that lets you access the internet as soon as you switch on the computer and the modem. You do not need to dial up like when you are using a standard modem connection. There will be no call charges for Internet access but voice calls will be charged as before.

4	How fast is ADSL compared to normal dial-up, ISDN and DIAS connection?

If you are using a 2 Mbps broadband connection then you will be having a download speed which is 35 times faster than that of normal dial-up connection, about 16 times faster than that of ISDN connection and about 16 times faster than that of DIAS connection.

5	What are the benefits of ADSL?

7	Do I need a separate line for ADSL?

No. ADSL can run on your existing basic phone (Bfone) line. If you do not have a Bfone connection then you need to get one from BSNL before you can ask for an ADSL broadband connection.

8	Can I use both phone and ADSL together?

Yes. ADSL uses a different set of frequencies and does not interfere with telephone conversation. Conversely, making a phone call while accessing the Internet does not affect the speed of the ADSL connection.

9	How do I get the connection?

10	What is a CPE? How do I get it?

CPE stands for Customer Premise Equipment. This consists of an ADSL modem/router and a stand-alone or a build in splitter to separate the telephone and broadband connections. 11	What is a splitter? Do I need one?

If at your home/business, the same line is used for voice and data then you need to separate out these signals by using a splitter. The splitter will have one output for your telephone and one or more for the ADSL modem which in turn connects to your computer. This comes along with the modem that BSNL provides.

12	My friend has ADSL but BSNL in my city says I cannot!

These could be the reasons for this. Your distance from the nearest ADSL Central Office equipment(DSLAM) may be beyond the technically permissible limit. Visibly the distance of your house/business may look same to you as your friend's but it is the actual cable length that counts. Once you apply for a BSNL broadband connection, you line will be tested and you will be informed whether you home/business is covered. 13	What is download/upload?

When the information flows from somewhere e.g. a web-page or a site to your PC you are “downloading” on the other hand when you send information e.g. request for a web-page, you are “uploading”

14	Why are the download/upload rates different?

ADSL is an asymmetric technology giving different rates in “down” and “up” directions. This is perfectly fine since we download(browsing, downloading clips, music etc) much more than we upload(a website address, a few clicks etc)

15	How do I connect to ADSL?

To connect to ADSL you need an ADSL modem/router to be installed at your home/business. On your PC you should have an Ethernet port with RJ45 socket. Some ADSL modems have a USB port and you could connect these modems to the USB port of you computer.

16	How do I install ADSL?

Once your connection comes through, an installation pack consisting of the CPE and installation guide will be sent to you. If you have requested BSNL for installation, a technician will visit and complete the installation for you. If you are buying your own Modem you can still request for installation on payment of the requisite charges. We will, however, only support equipment supplied by us.

17	How long does it take to install ?

Once we receive your order, BSNL will do the required line checks and assuming these pass it takes around 5-10 working days for the service to be enabled by BSNL at your local telephone exchange.

18	Do I need any software for the installation?

No. With your Welcome Pack you get an installation CD which includes everything you need to get started. If you choose to use your own equipment (e.g. modem or router) then you will need to ensure you have the right software.

19	What is an IP address?

When you are connect to the Internet, your PC is automatically allocated an IP(Internet Protocol) address to identify it to the outside world. There are two types of IP addresses, dynamic and static. Dynamic IP changes from session to session while static always remains same.

20	What type of IP addresses are possible ?

IP addresses could be dynamic (that typically change with each session) and static (that are permanently allocated to you). BSNL Broadband provides both dynamic and static IP. However the static IP is given only in Business 5000 and Business 9000 plans.

21	Why would one need a static IP address?

A static IP address may be required for certain services or applications you use. These typically include: 1.Running your own mailserver (SMTP inbound). 2.Many VPN (virtual private network) implementations require one or both sides of the VPN to have a static IP address. 3.If you are connecting to your company network and need access through their firewall.

22	Can I change from one Broadband data rate to another?

Yes, You can change your BSNL Broadband plan at any time.

23	What happens if I shift my premises?

ADSL connection is given for a particular BSNL fixed line. If you move, ADSL can be shifted to a BSNL line in the new location subject to availability in that area. No shifting charges are required to be paid.

24	Do I still need to pay the telephone line rental ?

Yes. The ADSL broadband service uses your normal analogue exchange line to provide the high speed Internet access, so you still need to pay the line rental and any normal calls on that line.

25	How do I choose the speed/tariff plan that's right for me?

This will depend on the purpose for which you will be using the broadband connection. If you are using it from home or a small office, choosing a plan that offers a download limit of 1 GB is ideal for general surfing and emailing. However, if you are downloading lots of videos or sending very large files, it may be better to choose a broadband plan with even higher capacity.

26	How do I pay for Broadband from BSNL?

Broadband from BSNL is charged monthly, via your BSNL bill. You can choose to pay your BSNL bill by cash, cheque or bank or credit card.

27	Can the helpdesk help solve problems with my own computer/ hardware?

No. The helpdesk is there to help you with problems relating specifically to the Broadband service from BSNL and the hardware/software provided by BSNL. If you have purchased a product where hardware was not provided as part of the service, the helpdesk will not be able to assist you with it, and you should contact your hardware supplier.

28	Can I have more than one broadband connection, for redundancy/up time?

You can have more than one line, however we cannot guarantee service on broadband connections, therefore we do not suggest an additional broadband line for redundancy/up-time.

29	Do I need any extra equipment when upgrading to a faster speed package?

No, you will be able to use the modem/router provided with your current Broadband

30	I want to connect more than one computer to my Broadband line to share my internet connection. How do I do this?

Yes, if you choose the right broadband plan, you would be permitted to connect more than one computer. However, all the users will share the bandwidth allocated to you.

31	What is contention or a contention ratio?

To provide a cost effective service - all ADSL services are contended (shared). These contention ratios are applied in the backbone and international part of the network. A commonly applied contention rate is 50 : 1. All customers are guaranteed the plan rate up to the local exchange or the ADSL equipment to which they are connected. On the shared part of the network a 50:1 contention ratio would mean that a 2 Mbps connection would be shared by 49 others. In reality this is very unlikely to happen and the customer would find the connection much faster than dial-up modems. ADSL relies on individual users not making unreasonable traffic demands on the network to provide fast access speeds for all. If you are not getting the speed you expect, it can be due to the contention ratio but also to many other factors including the congestion at the remote site you are accessing.

32	Why do you limit the amount of data I can download ?

BNSL aims to provide fast, reliable service to all the broadband customers. Some customers try to hog disproportionate amount of available resources. Customers might select lower end plans for heavy work or make excessive use of peer-to-peer file sharing. This could result in 20% users using over 80% resources. High levels of usage by a small number of users risks reduced performance for all users. BSNL has the following options to solve this problem : 1. Lower the contention ratio 2. Provide more resources and increase the prices 3. Set download limits The first two options are not fair to 80% users who use the resources sensibly. As such setting dowonload limits was the best and fair solution. If any user requires higher limit he/she can upgrade to higher plan.

33	What all can I do with 1 GB(Giga Byte) download?

One GB is 1024 Megabyte or 1073741824 bytes. You can do the following with 1 GB download limit : 1. An average web page is about 50 kilobytes in size - so you could download around 20,000 web pages for 1 gigabyte. 2. An hour of surfing the web would be around 10 megabytes (200 pages) so you could surf non-stop for about 100 hours for 1 gigabyte. 3. An hour of streamed radio would use about 15-20 megabytes. 4. An hour of streamed video uses around 100-150 megabytes. 5. Playing an online game typically uses about 10-15 megabytes per hour. 6. Emails are very small - so 100 emails would be just 1 megabyte - or 100,000 emails for 1 gigabyte! (of course the attachments count extra) 7. A super-high resolution (5-6 megapixel) digital camera JPEG picture or typical MP3 music file is about 2-3 megabytes so you could download 350-500 of these images/music files for 1 gigabyte. Very few users would actually exceed the download limits set.

34	What is a firewall, should I have one?

A firewall is a system designed to prevent unauthorized access to or from a private computer/network. It is highly recommended that all Internet users (even using standard dialup access ) should have a firewall to protect their computer/network. As ADSL broadband service are ?always on? it is even more important. Many free firewall softwares like ZoneAlarm, Sygate Personal Firewall etc are available on the Web for download.

35	Do ADSL services come with a service level agreement ?

ADSL broadband services do not come with a SLA (service level agreement). However BSNL aims at repairing 80% of ADSL circuit faults within working hours. If you require a ‘guaranteed’ high-speed connection to the Internet you would probably require a leased line instead of ADSL broadband.

36	What is NAT (Network Address Translation/Translator)?

NAT stands for Network Address Translation/Network Address Translator. Each computer connected to the Internet needs to have a unique IP address. To use the global IP addresses more efficiently, computers belonging to a business can have “local” addresses. NAT would then allow connecting multiple “local” computers to the Internet using one IP address. Each NAT has a ‘table’ of local IP addresses and globally unique addresses by which the NAT box can translate the local IP addresses to global address and vice versa.

37	Can I host a web server on an ADSL line ?

A web server can be hosted on an ADSL line with static IP addresses for broadband connection. (Static IP addresses are available in Business 5000 and Business 9000 plans) Although it is technically possible but not recommended specially for important or heavy usage service. ADSL is asymmetric service with upstream rates much lower than downstream rates. In the business plan upstream rate is 128 kbps and with usual contention ratio, performance can be poor if many users try to access the web server. As it is not a recommended use, BSNL would not support maintenance complaints in such cases.

38	I have ADSL at office, can I also use it at home ?

An ADSL Broadband account is activated on a specific telephone line only. If you need to use the broadband connection at a location other than where it is installed you need to take another broadband connection.

40	What kind of PC do I need to run ADSL?

Most present day configuration PCs will run ADSL. The following minimum configuration is, however, recommended:

I had taken Plan 250 BSNL Broadband connection in Sep'2005.For the first two months I got internet bill for 250 only. But for this month i got a bill to pay Rs 356. And one thing, that month i used net very frequently.So, my doubt is eventhough if do not downloaded anything i exceeded my limit. What would be the correct reason for this?

In broadband connection it is different from dialup connection. Here frequency doesnot matter as it is always on conncetion. What matters is the size of the pages you visit. If you visit sites which are having small graphics and more text then you are downloading very small amount of data. But if you are visitng sites with large graphics or streaming videos then you are downloading higher amount of data.

44	What are the conditions for getting a free modem or changing the type of free modem?

For certain plans, the modem shall be given free by BSNL subject to some conditions - (For details click here). In this case customer will own the modem and does not require to return the modem. Any type of modem (Type I/II/III/IV) can be taken under this offer after paying the required cost/rent of modem. If a subscriber has initially taken Type-I modem under this offer, he can request to change it to higher type (Type-II/III/IV) after paying the difference amount of higher modem. After the committed period if a subscriber demands another modem then he can choose any of these three options: (i) He can get another modem by paying the rent for another committed period. or (ii) He can choose rental option for another modem. or (iii) He can outright purchase another modem.

45	I am on Monthly Rental Scheme for the Modem and decide to opt for outright purchase of modem, what amount shall be charged from me?

Option 1: If you want to continue with the existing modem, 50% of the amount already paid as monthly rentals can be adjusted in the Sale Price of modem. Option 2: If you want a new modem, Full amount will be charged as per Prevailing Price for the new Modem and the Old Modem is to be returned in working condition.

Ans. It is up to you to change the address.It is always better if your passport indicates your current address. For this purpose, you need to fill up form-II and submit it along with valid proof of your residential address at Passport Office of thearea of where you reside.

Question 2. My Passport has been issued by one Passport Office.Can I apply for services in another Passport Office? Ans. Yes. You can apply for miscellaneousservices at Passport Office where you are presently residing.

Question 3. I don’t have ECNR stamp in my Passport. Can I get it on the basis of my provisional matriculation or above certificate issued by the University/Board concerned?

Ans.We are no longer affixing ECNR stamp in passports. In fact it is not even printed in the new passport booklets. Currently, only ECR stamp is being put in passports if applicant is not eligible for ECNR.However, you are entitled to ECNR status if you possess qualification of Matriculationor above. Even you can get ECNR status on the basis of provisional matriculation certificate if themark sheets of all semesters of your course are available with you.

Question 7. I am working in ICICI Bank? Am I required to furnish the Identity Certificate?

Ans. Only those persons working in companies, which are owned by the State/Central Governments, need to submit “Identity Certificates”. Employees of Private Banks are not required to submit“Identity Certificates” for getting passports.

Question 8. I got my passport 2 years ago. I got married recently. Should I include my spouse’s name in my passport? If so, what is the procedure?

Ans. It is better toinclude your spouse’s name in your passport.For this, please file up Form No.II(EAP-II) form and submit it along with marriage certificate, photocopy of spouse’s passport (if she has one) and proof of stay (if the present address is different from the one in the passport). Note : The procedure is the same if one wants to include her husband’s name in the passport.

Question 9. I have a one-month-old baby? Does the baby requirea separate passport Orhis/her name can be endorsed in one of the parents’ passport?

Ans. Endorsement of child’s name in parents’ passports is not allowed anymore. As per the amended law, minors should haveseparate passports.

Question 11.What is the difference between Re-issue and Renewal of a passport?

Ans. Passports are Re-issued after the expiry of their 10-year validity period.If you had been issued a Short Validity Passport (i.e. a passport of validity less than 10 years) apply for renewal to extend the normal validity of the existing passport to 10 years. In the case of Re-issue of passport a normal fee of Rs.1000/- will be charged whereas for extending the validity (renewal) no fee is charged.

Question 12.My passport expired 4 years ago. Can I renew it? What is the procedure for it?

Ans. In such a case, you have to fill up Application Form No. I(EAP-I) form and submit it along with original/photocopy of your expired passport and proof of your residence/address. However, since the passport expired 4 years ago, fresh police verification will be required in your case.

Question 13.I am a student staying away from my parents. Where do I apply for passport and what proof of residence shall I have to furnish?

Ans. For instance, if you are a student staying in Rohtak (which falls under the jurisdiction of RPO, Chandigarh) and your parents are staying in Hissar which also falls under the jurisdiction of RPO Chandigarh , You can apply at RPO, Chandigarh. For this purpose, along with your form you have to provide four Personal Particulars forms. Please also indicate your hostel address/the place where you are staying in Rohtakas present address and your parent’s address as Permanent address. In case you are studying and staying in Bangalore , you can either apply to the Passport Office Bangalore or in the Passport Office in whose jurisdiction your parents’ address (permanent address) is located.e.g Delhi. In the later case , fill up an additional set of Personal particulars form giving the address in Bangalore. For proof of residence at your hostel/place of stay, either you should provide a letter from the Principal/Warden or proof of residence of the guardian with whom you are staying along with the guardianship affidavit. You should also provide proof of your parents address (i.e. permanent address).

Question 14.What is the difference in procedure between applying in person and by Post?

Ans.While you apply in person, two copies of all the documents duly self attested have to be handed over at the counter along with the originals, which will be returned after verification at the counter immediately. Your pc must be hibernating or at standby for auto wake.

click Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Scheduled Tasks.

Double-click the "Add Scheduled Task" icon to launch the Scheduled Task Wizard, and click Next. Select a program you'd like to run when your system wakes up (or u can simply select explorer.exe if u have no choice), and schedule the task. On the wizard's last page, check "Open advanced properties for this task when I click Finish" before clicking Finish.

In the resulting Properties dialog box, click the Settings tab, check Wake the computer to run this task, and click OK.

Search for a file in Windows Vista

Track when your messages are read
If you’ve sent out an important e-mail and want to ensure that the recipient has received and read it, you can set an option in Outlook to do so. Once you’ve composed the message in Outlook 2007, go to the Options tab and the Tracking group. To know that your message was delivered, click Request a Delivery Receipt. To know that the message was read, click Request a Read Receipt.

Add Contacts quickly in Outlook 2007
From an open email message, you can add the name and email address of the sender to your Contacts. Right-click the name of the sender in the message and click Add to Contacts in the menu that appears.

Use the Mini toolbar for speedy formatting

Change meetings or events created in Outlook 2007
Once you’ve scheduled a meeting or event using Outlook 2007, you can change its subject, location or time if needed. This can be done for a standalone event, for a whole series of recurring events, or one event of a series of recurring events.

To change the time, location or subject of an individual event, you first need to open the event. Go to the Appointment tab and make the necessary changes. Click Save and Close.

If you’re working with a series of events or a recurring event; open the event. In the Open Recurring Item dialog box, select Open this occurrence if you want to make changes to only the current occurrence. Select Open the series if you want to make changes to the entire series. For only the current occurrence, make the necessary changes in the Appointment tab and click Save and Close. To make changes for the entire series, use the Appointment tab again to change the location, time or subject. Then, if you want to change the recurrence options as well, click Recurrence in the Options group of the same tab. Change the options as needed and click OK.

Add or delete holidays in Outlook 2007
You may like your Outlook 2007 Calendar to display holidays for the current year. You can do this for not only your own region, but also the region in which key business partners operate.

To add holidays, go to Tools, click Options, and then click Calendar Options. In Calendar Options, click Add Holidays. You will see a list of countries—click the check box next to each country whose holidays you want to display in your calendar. Click OK.

To delete holidays, click Calendar. On the View menu, go to Current View and click Events. You will see a list of holidays. Click the calendar icon next to each row that you want to delete. To select multiple rows, keep the CTRL key pressed and click each row. Click Delete when you have finished selecting.

Add RSS feeds in Outlook 2007
There are several ways in which you can add an RSS feed to Outlook 2007. If you use Internet Explorer 7, you will see the RSS feed icon next to the Home button on the browser. Clicking the RSS feed icon will display the list of available feeds on the Web page. Click the feed that you want to add.

You can also do this within Outlook 2007. In the Tools menu, click Account Settings. On the RSS Feeds tab, click New. The New RSS Feed dialog box will open. You can type the URL of the RSS feed here or use CTRL+C and CTRL+V to copy and paste the URL from the address bar of your browser. Click Add and then click OK.

If you receive an invitation to an RSS feed via e-mail, you can click Add this RSS Feed on the Reading Pane to add it. If you’ve opened the message, go to the Share tab and the Open group. Click Add this RSS Feed and then click OK.

Schedule a new meeting in Outlook 2007

In Outlook 2007, go to File, click New, and select New Meeting Request. Type appropriate descriptions in the Subject and Location boxes, and choose start and end times of the meeting using the Start Time and End Time lists. You can also type any information or attach files that you want to share with the recipients of the meeting request. For help with scheduling the best time for your meeting, go to the Meeting tab, and click Scheduling Assistant in the Show group. Then, click Add Others and select Add Others from Address Book. You can now search and select attendees and resources for the meeting, by going to the Select Attendees and Resources dialog box and entering the name of the person in the Search box. The results list will show the concerned people—you can click Required, Optional, or Resources and click OK. After this, the Suggested Times pane will show the best times for your meeting, that is, the times at which most attendees are available. You can also manually pick a time from the free/busy grid. Go to the Meeting tab and click Appointment in the Show group. Click Send.

Print your Contacts in Outlook 2007

Outlook 2007 gives you the option of printing out your list of Contacts in various styles—memo, visiting card, phone directory, small booklet or medium booklet. You can also customize these styles. You can print a single Contact, all your Contacts or some of them.

To print out all your Contacts, open the Contacts view, go to File and click Print. In the Print dialog box, select the style you want to print in using the Print Styles box. Click Define Styles to customize the printing style. Click OK to print, after setting the number of copies and other necessary options.

To print out some of your Contacts, open the Contacts view, go to the View menu, take your cursor to Current View and click Customize Current View. Click Filter and use the available options to narrow down the list of Contacts to only those that you want to print. Then, go to File, click Print and follow the same steps as above.

Redirect Incoming Email to your Mobile Phone

With Outlook 2007, you can redirect incoming email and calendar entries to your mobile phone, by configuring your Outlook Mobile Service account. To do this, you have to select the redirection conditions in Outlook Mobile Service. For this, go to Tools and click Options. On the Preferences tab, click Notifications under Mobile. Under Message Notifications, click the checkbox against Forward messages that meet all of the selected conditions. Select the conditions from those listed. In the Forward to mobile numbers box, type the mobile phone number(s) to which you want messages to be forwarded. Click OK.

Use Instant Search in Outlook 2007

You can quickly search for messages in Outlook. Click the folder you want to search in Mail. Type the text you want to search for in the Instant Search box. The Instant Search Results pane will display all messages that contain your search text.

Print an e-mail with attachment

Select the e-mail in the message list, but don’t open it. On the File menu, click Print. In Print options, click the Print attached files check box. Ensure that you don’t open the message when you want to print it, or the option to print the attachment will not be displayed.

Use Outlook 2007 to send a Word 2007 document for review

To e-mail a Word 2007 document for review, open and save the document and click Send for Review on the Quick Access Toolbar. A new e-mail message will open with the document attached; the default text in the message is "Please review the attached document". Make changes in the message if you want, type the addresses of the recipients in the To field of the message, and click Send.
