11 questions to help me help you

If we decide to move away from fear we create fear to move away from but if we consciously choose to move toward love instead we create love to move toward. Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out which method would create a more pleasant experience.

Yet, our habitual, knee jerk reaction is to run away from fear. Our bodies are even hardwired to do that but you can begin to make a conscious choice moment by moment until moving toward love becomes your default setting.

How do we do that? The first step is to notice fear from a place of emotional neutrality. “Oh, I notice fear is present.” Just notice, avoid judging or reacting, just observe.

The next step is to make a new choice. How can you celebrate or appreciate whatever is seemingly creating your fear? You may not be able to do it at first but with practice you will be able to do it with ease.

It helps if you begin the practice of gratitude and appreciation before fear shows up. Take you top ten fears and find something the appreciate and celebrate about each one.

Examples:

Fear of death – I can use that to appreciate each moment of my life, stay in the moment and to be grateful for everything I do have

Not enough money – when you get a bill you can celebrate it’s arrival (This one takes practice), give thanks that someone trusted you to pay this bill, give sincere thanks for the money to pay this bill and really feel that. I actually made a special box for my bills decorated with hearts, dollar bills, fairies and angels. I displayed it on my desk and before long my finances changed.

Being abandoned – give thanks for the reminder to spend time opening up to your connection to your spirit and really feeling the sea of love you swim in.

I think you get the idea. Have a love fest instead of a marathon running from fear.

For a long time I have wanted to write a book of teaching stories. My agent wasn’t wild about the idea but the other day I decided I would write it and the publisher would come. I fully expected the book to be written by the Grandmother. Imagine my surprise when Mary showed up instead. Here is one of her stories. I guess the two of them will share the honors of being the storytellers.

I can still remember my first cappuccino, that beautiful white foam and the luscious steam coming off the cup. My life has never been the same! What I am here to talk about today isn’t really the cappuccinos, it is about the decisions we make at the Cosmic Cappuccino House and how that affects the events in our next life that matters.

What is the Cosmic Cappuccino House you ask? It is a place where we gather as spirits before we are born, before we meet our physical families on the earth plane. I love meeting my future charges, sipping a luscious cappuccino and making plans for how we can all deepen our connection to our divinity. Yes all, I benefit as much as those I help.

I must admit my favorite role was as a mother to an incredibly loving son who tried to teach people about the power of love and forgiveness but I have enjoyed each and every opportunity to work with members of my spiritual family. Some lives and roles are just easier and more enjoyable than others.

Remember we are all members of the same family, we are all one and we all have an opportunity to expand this universal energy of creation. The universe is constantly expanding and our awareness grows with each choice someone makes and with each new thought and every event.

A child’s birth sends ripples through the entire cosmos. It is an event we all celebrate. As that piece of god slips into that tiny body they are immersed in an emotional rich sensual experience called life. People so often wonder about their life’s purpose because they have forgotten their true nature. Life is an opportunity to awaken that remembrance and enjoy the adventure called life. We so easily forget that life is a gift, a respite from eternity. Life is an incredible amusement park where we can have fun or struggle needlessly.

As we sit together at the Cosmic Cappuccino House we talk about love and we watch. We watch others moving through physical reality, sometimes easily with joy and at other times struggling filled with judgment and fear. We see where their beliefs stop them and speculate on other ways and different choices. We debate about the merits of language, choices, beliefs, the power of agreements and how culture, time and acceptance can change the outcomes. It so easy to see the patterns and to understand from here but when you are immersed in physical reality your perspective is very different.

Then at some point someone decides it is time for them to jump in and really play the game. It begins with a thought, an opportunity to see things from a different perspective. So we begin to explore different scenarios. Which country would serve us best, what type of family would push us to explore the issue most thoroughly? Sometimes we choose a family filled with violence and abuse. When that is the case the spirits closest to us offer to play the tough roles, those of the abusers.

When we choose the family and jump into that tiny body we know it isn’t what happens that matters it is what we do, how we choose to focus our attention. We know what really matters are the choices we make and whether we use events to deepen our connection with our spirit or to reaffirm what we believe. No matter what choices we make we help the universe to expand. I am always there, right at the edge of reality offering my love, guidance and wisdom.

Life is a glorious dance rich with experiences, ultimately with no right or wrong just choices and outcomes that allow us to better understand our connection to the divine. So we sit, at this wonderful gathering place and offer to meet, at appointed times at some point in the future in the physical universe. We forget making the appointment but we never miss our meetings.

Those ideas put a different spin on your life doesn’t it my beloved? We has an appointment, I’m here now and will continue to help you expand your understanding, your awareness and the remembrance of your true nature. We are here to help you accomplish your life’s purpose, to remember and to fully, passionately and joyous experience each moment in your life.

Mother Mary comes to me

I am in the process of building an addition to my home. The top floor is going to be my meditation room. I have had some doubts about the need for a third story when two would suffice but I have followed that inner knowing and insisted on the third floor.

Yesterday I came home after several days away. The builder had put the floor on the third story while I was gone so as soon as I got home I climbed up to see the view. I was only there a few minutes when a beautiful rainbow began to appear, slowly at first and then it expanded into a full arch. I took it as a sign from my spirit of well done.

I could have noticed or not, saw it as a sign or not and I could have ignored my desire to document the process and take pictures every day (a miracle for me). What really matters is how I feel energetically, expanded and connected to my spirit or contracted, fear based and disconnected.

And if you notice the sky, the sun is shinning and there was no rain anywhere, unusual conditions for a rainbow!

Signs of alignment

As a child my dad and I had a very tumultuous relationship. He lived with me the last year of his life. What a gift that was for both of us. As much as possible I choose to act from love rather than react from fear. The whole time he lived here I only got angry once and immediately shifted back into love. My dad thanked me many times for taking care of him and told me how proud he was of me. I was able to hold his hand as he died.

As I have said many times – life is and then we tell ourselves a story. I took a moment to change my story and created a very different experience. My dad has been watching videos from years ago. I can see how I responded as a young girl, feel the old stories rising to the surface and still make a new choice.

Life is a dream defined by what we tell ourselves. As I go through my day I ask myself if I want to create a nightmare or a fun and loving adventure. I also remember to ask myself if I want to be right or I want to be happy. How freeing it is when I take the time to notice my choices and then decide if that is a path I want to continue to take.

What choices have you been making in your life? What is your story about life in general and the people in your life? Are there villains in your story? Are you a victim or a powerful magician constantly creating your experience of reality? Is your life expansive and filled with so much love there is more than enough to share or is there scarcity in your life? Do you have a limited amount of love, time or energy?

Choices

The Toltec tradition is based on the concept that the world is a vast energy system.  We can use our emotions like a barometer.  Low pressure usually means unsettled weather and rain while high pressure indicates clear, sunny weather. Fear indicates trauma and drama on the horizon while joy and love indicate smooth sailing.

My favorite story about my time as Don Miguel’s student is when I told Leslie, one of the advanced students that all the stuff we were learning seemed like brain washing. She looked at me, smiled and said, “Your brain needs washing.” How right she was.

I wasn’t aware at that point that I was responsible for my emotions and that the events in my life were all emotionally neutral. It took me a lot of ‘brain washing’ to realize that I didn’t need to change my life in order to feel good, all I had to do was change my thinking.

The irony was that until I changed my thinking the events in my life were likely to continue to be reruns. Once I changed my thinking and began to tap into love more often than fear my life became a magical adventure rather than a boring rerun of the same old trauma and drama.

This morning I climbed to the top of the addition I am putting on my home. I stood where my desk will be and was blown away by the view. Owning a home in Hawaii would ever have been part of my life had I not changed my filter system. Having a three story addition built to my specifications was no where in the picture. Barely paying the bills and hiding my car from the repo man was part of the life that fear built. I enjoy my present life a whole lot more.

Take time to let go of your limiting beliefs and see what happens to your life. I can guarantee you will love the results.
