In any case, we’re going to be leaving Rapid City, South Dakota shortly, and will be heading through Wyoming, plan on stopping at some General Custer-related things, seeing Devil’s Tower (I’ll let you know if Richard Dreyfuss is seen in the area, or if any mashed potato-related incidents happen), and getting into Montana later today. We’ve gotten a ton of suggestions of things to stop at here in South Dakota throughout the Black Hills and such (Thanks Emily, Brett, Bob, and I could go on!), and are kind of taking a good pace from here on in as our goal is to hit Seattle sometime on Thursday afternoon.

In the meantime, we’ve got a few hundred photos of our trip up on Flickr so far, with a stack to come later on today, including some crazy shots at Mount Rushmore. Missing all of our friends and fam in NYC, and a huge shout to my MTV fam – definitely missing you guys on a daily basis! More to come as we cross further into the West.

• The Milwaukee Brewers have named Rick Peterson their new pitching coach. In related news, the New York Mets still suck and wonder what happened to their pitching staff. Willie Randolph just laughs.
• Delaware is getting a state park! In other news, it still only takes 15 minutes to drive through the state on I-95 if you have EZPass.
• Your tax dollars at work. Kids need to eat more vegetables and take in less calories. Hey, does this mean that ketchup will finally become a vegetable?
• This comparison of credit scores and their respective owners’ email address domains is more than amusing, and proves that there is indeed a statistic for everything.

• The Yanks are out playing the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, California, USA, North America today, but you can still go to Yankee Stadium, if you were so inclined, to watch the game. I remember doing this during the New York Rangers’ 1994 run to the Stanley Cup, while the team was out in Vancouver. Kind of fun, but it wasn’t like 42 degrees in Madison Square Garden.
• Andy Beal writes about the news that social networking via mobiles has doubled in the last six months. Wow. [via Chris Thilk]
• Dave shared a solid Friday Heh this past week, with the payoff of a Facebook conversation having its way with the “Fresh Prince” theme song and balloon boy.
• Ben Wagner shares some personal perspective and a great way of spelling out what the film adaptation of “Where The Wild Things Are” means to a lot of people.

• “Angel” – One of the band’s “Christmas singles” that are sent to the fan club. The first time I heard it was when this guy Jeff I worked with in college let me borrow the record it was on, which is still the only place I’ve ever seen it. It’s an amazingly dramatic song that isn’t necessarily in line with the rest of the band’s songs, and maybe that’s what makes it so good.
• “Porch” – My favorite memory of this song is the guy who sang it in a talent show in high school, whom we were all told would edit the first line of the song when it came down to the live session. He didn’t. And if you don’t know it, it’s “What the fuck is this world…”
• “Rearviewmirror” – Listening to it, it seems like one of the more “simply built” songs, but when you get into it, it’s much more complicated than that.
• “Black” – This is either my #1 or #2 favorite song of the bunch, I really think. It’s so well thought out, the lyrics are amazing, it just sounds awesome all around.
• “Dirty Frank” – He’s a gourmet cook, you know.
• “Yellow Ledbetter” – Just wow. How many encores do you think this has closed out? This is the other song I (and probably a lot of other PJ fans) would have a hard time saying it wasn’t a favorite.
• “Even Flow” – Again, hard to not just pick “Ten” and be done with it. I chose this over “Jeremy,” which is equally awesome.
• “Habit” – It’s all about the cadence and the raspy voice on this one.
• “State Of Love And Trust” – “A compliment for us is a compliment for you.”
• “Dissident” – Along with being an excellent box set that I was never able to complete as it was sold in a couple of different packages until digital music became the norm, this is a crazy good song.

Honorable mentions: “Supersonic” – It’s new, it’s fast, it’s loud, and it’s fun. Suck it up, I like it. “Leash” – Loud, loud, loud.
