Yourself.

The trouble with having a blog is that you have to have something to write about all the time, and when all your life consists of is University, Work and dealing with other rubbish what you have to put into words is worth about as much as a pair of woollen socks is to an ant.

That was a colossally shit analogy...I know.

What I am trying to say is that even if you feel like writing something down, sometimes it's difficult.

I have a book at home called "Blogging for fame and fortune" (or a title to that effect. you know, the kind of title that a chump like me would read and see $$$$$$$$$ and fork over the $30 bucks for the book.... Let's call the book "Mike Murdoch", and I'm somebody in need - all I need to do is prayfully give a donation of $30 and expect a harvest.... You really need to watch this video to get what I am talking about --> here) I digress, and in this book - the first thing it says is to always have something to talk about...

Personally, I believe a blog is almost a means to bookmark your life.

I'm not saying that blogs should be "so today I did this, and then I went to do this, and WHILE I was doing that I saw this and then did that thing in that time at that place where we went that day to see you-know-who because she is a total bitch, remember what happened at that party with whatshisface".

No, I believe blogs can be more than that.

I think though only you, the writer, can take more from your writing than anybody else reading your posts - mainly because you can identify themes in your writing that others can't/won't understand.

For example, I posted in February about going away and being in Love - this was just after I had started to date my girlfriend, whom I loved very much and I was extraordinarily happy and I was expressing my upset at having to go away and leave her but also I talked about how it made me realise that I needed to make the most of the time that I had with her - essentially that was what that post was about, the rest - well that was just filling.

In case you haven't guessed already, I am no longer with this person - which is where my previous post comes from - through all the disappointment comes a sense of clarity (to a degree). Now, I am far more sensitive to relationships and peoples feelings and the connections you make with others because of the things that I learnt and felt when I was in a relationship.

I mean also there are reoccurring themes such as my distain for University and stupid people, but each blog comes from a different place - and while you (the reader) may not know where, I do and always will.

If that made sense.....?

I had absolutely nothing to write about when I started this, and yet here we are... I wrote about something.

Thank-you to Anni for the inspiration (:

Every now and then it helps to take some time to write down your thoughts, mainly because it's like having a conversation with someone who won't look at you funny, or judge you, or laugh when they aren't supposed to, or ask stupid questions or even tell you that you are right or wrong.

It's one sided and that's sometimes all you want - to be heard.

I had a change in my life philosophy early on this year.

I previously lived for myself, I was single and I didn't really think anything of it - you did things when you want to, you buy things for yourself - essentially its a fairly selfish existence, but it is never viewed that way - because there are so many people living that way.

But it's only when you meet someone that is truly fantastic, that takes your breath away, that is always in the back or front of your mind, that you want to share your entire life with - do you realise just how selfish you have been.

Sure there is most definitely a learning curve, going from doing your own thing to doing things with both of you in mind is quite of a shock but is it worth it? absolutely.

So here is what I have to say to anyone living for themselves.

Take a chance, say screw it and give yourself whole heartedly to your emotions or someone else, sure - it might not work out or pay off and you could end up getting hurt but life is a series of events that shape and mould us and has undoubtedly, turned you into the person that you are today.

Without experiencing pain or love how are we to know what's worth fighting for?

Have a bad relationship? you recognise the signs of such and you learn to compartmentalise and distance yourself to save yourself from future pain, but never let that affect your present or future, don't throw something away just because there is a possibility that something might go wrong, or the going gets tough - that possibility is there all the time, it doesn't bother you when things are peachy?

But every now and then - you'll meet someone who you know is going to treat you right and when they say they aren't going to hurt you and that they love you, believe it or not, they mean it - those are the people worth fighting for, even if it is difficult.

There are just some things in this life worth fighting for, love and happiness are some of them, once you have found both of those things, every thing else that might be happening in your life comes second, if you find someone who truly makes you happy, hang on to them tightly and never let them go - fight when times get hard and cherish the good times.

It is worth remembering here that if you are in a relationship that perhaps has become slightly mundane, don't take anything for granted, it will be the commonplace activities that you miss the most.

Always make sure your partner knows exactly how you feel about them, rub their back, kiss them on the forehead, it might seem insignificant but it makes a world of difference, and above all else....

Communicate with each other.

Don't waste the experience that is love and a relationship.

FIRE SALE BABY! I have so much <s>crap</s> well loved goods <s>lying around</s> stored carefully around my room gathering dust when I am pretty sure I could make some money off of them.

*short version: I applied to work in Orlando at Disney World for a year (through University), was accepted, leaving July '11 - July '12.

Anyway, what I want to discuss is the notion of "taking stock of your life" - dedicating some time to really thinking about what is important and what you value the most.

This trip undoubtedly will be a once in a lifetime opportunity where I will have the chance to broaden my horizons, meet new people, gain a significantly better work ethic and grow and mature as a person...

<s>(okay, so I was reading the brochure)</s>

However I am torn.

I'm going to try to get away with not sounding too cliche - okay this is going to sound cliche - I've fallen in love.

Now I wasn't looking for a partner, but this was just one of those things, where your not planning on it but someone comes along who you know is right for you and you them....

I read a saying the other day;

"Life is what happens when you're making other plans"

I've been thinking about this for a while now (you're yet to hear what I have been thinking...don't worry though, it's coming), in fact, since the Brisbane floods.

What I have been thinking about, is the type of situation that people need to be in to stop (most of the time, this happens best when the situation is out of their control - you're less likely to evaluate your life in a similar fashion when you have the choice not too), take some time and think about what's important to them...this can either be tangible items or (and this is more likely) intangible.

Similar to what it takes for rules to be changed or instigated, it often takes great tragedy to shock people into action.

Take the floods - an absolute tragedy, an event not thought possible after '74 - so many people's lives were turned upside down, possessions were lost (some irreplaceable) and lives were unnecessarily lost.

(wow I really loose interest in writing these things - mainly because it would go from being semi-decent writing to drivel...well its already drivel I know but ehh)

You get where I am going with this, if not...let me try and summarise it...

Everyone lives in a little bubble, content with our situation (and I am guilty of this too) and it's only when an event occurs that is out of our control that we are forced to go - well this isn't important but this is.

AND IN A FULL CIRCLE... that's what I am feeling now.

I have a deadline, I am going to America in less that 6 months, so I have less 6 months to make the very most of the time that I have with the people that I love, in particular one person.

In a way, its good because I won't take advantage of the time that I spend with my friends, family and her, and then the obvious - it sucks because I have to leave.

Ehh I dunno it's hard to put into words.

I know that I run the risk of being a hypocrite, but I think that perhaps every now and then we should all take some time, even 10 minutes, and force ourselves to think about what really is important to us and (Imma quote Zombieland) even appreciate the little things.

Whether that be a friend, a great cup of coffee, your girlfriend, your job, your bed even the weather.

People are always doing it worse, but in the face of adversity or tough situations people are capable of amazing things.

*I don't really know how that is relevant, I just wanted to throw it in*

Carpe Diem baby....

HURRY UP UNIVERSITY

So here I am.

And I never thought that I would see the day where I could honestly say that I want to go back to Uni, not because I want to get it over with and graduate in 6 months (actually it's even less than that now, its more like 4.5/5 months) or so that I can get to America faster it is simply because I want to get back to using my brain and to get back some kind of routine into my life.

Ahhh the University lifestyle.

Those of you starting university this year are yet to full appreciate the lifestyle, to you, in your first couple of years, Uni is nothing more than school with a bad haemorrhoid, only difference is there are no <s>teachers</s> doctors here to treat you/spoon feed you.

You and your over-the-counter haemorrhoid cream are on your own.

I must admit, University is very much a "get out what you put in" type of place and in retrospect I probably could have put a little more "in" to my University experience.

There were no crazy parties for me, no body shots, no alcohol fuelled evenings in the Uni pub, <s>no waking up naked on the trampoline at some guys place that I hadn't met before I went to my first Strategy and Change tutorial</s>...*cough*...nope, I took the 'I go to Uni for classes and leave'.

And I hate group work.

I kind of wish that I had of spent some more time dedicated to getting to know more people and create "future networks", but sometimes, whats the point? Just so somewhere down the track I can be like "Hey! ...no?.... 3117HSL?! I sat up the back and slept every lecture?! you don't remember me!?.... well you were a douchebag anyway - you and your stupid hair, thongs, singlet and boardies...."? (University stereotypes for the win!)

I'm good....I'll just add them on facebook.

-2011-

Um?... they changed the Mount Franklin bottle? Its all rocket shippy and has a plastic label vs paper?

I tried to figure out why they changed the bottle and the only logical conclusion that I come to is;
1. Bottles that look like rocket ships are awesome, and inspire future generations to become astronauts
2. All of the paper labels either dissolved, turned to mush or were washed away in the recent Brisbane Floods.

Duh.

I was also only thinking today, I really think that we as a society should perhaps be a little more mindful of the little creatures that run around under our feet on a daily basis or climb up our walls, in particular <s>spiders</s>.....maybe cockroaches are a better for my scenario... yes, so cockroaches.

You might be thinking right now - um why?

Let me explain to you why.

In the future after skynet becomes self aware, after the zombie apocalypse, after armageddon, after independence day, after the autobots and decepticons wage their war on our planet AND EVEN AFTER e.t. fucks off home, all of the spiders and cockroaches (yep, thats right, they are now working in cahoots - years of prejudicial treatment will bring anyone/anything together!) on the planet will have built machines that are just giant feet and will then parade around our highly populated cities and urban areas standing on us yelling out "HOW'D YOU LIKE IT BITCH".

Fortunately we still have time to prepare!

Unfortunately however for the cockroaches and spiders, the best preventative measure is to keep a stompin/slapping :) keep their numbers down, and hopefully this will help us to avoid becoming human hotcakes.

I wish you all the very best for 2011!

The thought of doing Uni work doesn't excite me, but when I actually manage to get into the zone, I really don't mind it, I enjoy reading the content especially when I am able to link it to real world examples.

And it's the strangest subjects that I enjoy too, for example, last semester I took a subject called (well this is embarrassing, I can't remember what the subject was called)

*consulting Griffith Blackboard*

Strategy and Change - the subject at the time was boring, god awful not to mention the assignments *ARGH*, but when it came time for me to do study and when I actually got into study mode, I actually really liked it.

This wasn't the first time this had happened to me, I am a Event Management Major and a Human Resources minor, and most of the time, I enjoy the content for my HR minor - I suppose its just a refreshing change from the usual Business rubbish.
Thats all - I am fortunately in the mood for study, so I best get back to it.

O*$Y#TIU$HB&(I*)(#POFMOI#HOH

Hmmm what's different here?
I also have chocolate buttons...this week has not been a good week for me. I have had more McDonalds this week than I have in the last 2 months... all I can say is Fuck you University Study Week...

Mmmmmm not the case.

I don't know what it is that I (and every single other University student) find so mind-numbingly boring about it.

Actually;
1. Sitting in front of my computer all day reading lecture slides and taking notes isn't enjoyable in the slightest.
2. Sitting in front of my computer reading University material makes me want to have a 10min power-snooze 6 times an hour for the entire day.
3. If I only need say, 10% or less on a 45% exam to pass my subject, I tend to care less.

I get so desperate trying to find things other than Uni to do that I will go onto ninemsn.com.au and look for a distraction.

All of this and I only have one exam to study for...

Spending Moneys!....... X( and 13?

Alrighty, so I am now back, $540 poorer and still not having started my Uni.

Although I did just get an email from my course convenor letting me know that the case study for my upcoming exam has been posted on the Blackboard, hopefully this;
1. makes my life easier
2. gives me a better idea of what exactly I need to study for.

I hate trying to study for an exam when the only help you get from your lecturer is "study topics learnt from week 1 through until week 13" ...... awesome

Thinking about the number 13, I know this is typically an "unlucky" number, but as a University student it has a completely different meaning.

thir.teen
cardinal number
- equivalent to the sum of six and seven; one more than twelve, or seven less than twenty; 13 (Roman numeral: xiii, XIII)
- typically an unlucky number
- Summary week - "Week 13 of your semester is your course review, it is important for you to attend""
- end of teaching for Australian University semesters. - "F*ck me sideways, I am glad this shit is over - bring on the holidays...after exams"

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://tomcdaily.blogspot.com/2010/11/yay-spending-moneys-x-and-13.html' title='Yay!
Beside me, I have another computer set up (unfortunately it's running Windows 7) which I am planning to leave it on this page all day, so when I am studying and perhaps think of something or just generally get bored I am going to defer my attention to this computer and write something on here.

For example, its 8:30am on the 1st of November 2010 (PINCH AND PUNCH BITCHES - boom) and I haven't had anything to eat, have just realised (that my computer dictionary is US - gah) I don't have a copy of "Repo Men" lying around the house to watch and am ruminating on my forthcoming expenditure (new tyres - shit).

I didn't really need the $500 anyway - oh wait...yes I do - to pay my tax.

I would like to think not, although I think the way that it read in the last post, yes, it might have come across that way - obviously not my intention.

Everybody wants more - we are selfish, get used to it - whether you want more out of your job, you might want more money (who doesn't?), more out of life, more out of your relationships, more out of whatever, everybody wants more.

I want more money, I want more out of life and I want more out of myself.

I work and I go to university (I'm not even going to go into the arguement that it's just a period of my life in an effort to give myself a better life in the future - yes I know this but we live in the now here people, not in the tomorrow PSSSHTT) - what I am grateful for is my friends and especially my family. I love them both very much, they keep me sane.

This is heading way into DNM territory - and that is why you don't buy a Binatone GPS from Big W....

lol - I just read what I have written above - I am everything that shits me off. I hate seeing "poor poor pitiful me" posts on facebook, and here I am doing exactly that.

HAHA - let me just clarify and say that my life is awesome - just sometimes I wouldn't mind a change? I don't think that is an unreasonable request? I don't mean a change in the sense of moving out of home or cutting myself off from the world, it works in my head.

Yup - it's late and I am bored

I wonder if I possess the ability to bull shit my way through one of these? I would like to think so, especially after being at University for so long now.

I went to see "The Social Network" again tonight, and I will say that even a second time around the movie is really really good. I don't know whether it is the fact that it is a (semi) true story or just the way it is written but there is just something about it, making it so easy to watch.

I love the script, I love the way it is filmed (particularly the rowing scene in Henley - Tilt Shift ftw) and I love the performance by Jesse Eisenberg, epic.

Gah - but as I sit, sorry lie, here writing this about how awesome I thought the movie was and about the people in the movie, it kind of makes me feel a little pathetic and it makes me wish I had more.

When I say "more" I am being material, I mean money - because sometimes yes, money just can buy you happiness.

I wish I could do this for a living, be online, people read what I have to say and it actually mean something, I wish I could take photos for a living. anything that doesn't involve me working for someone would be great thankyou.

It's funny, in "the social network" the head of Harvard says "Harvard students would rather make up a job than..." something something something - go and see the movie.

crap

shit.

I had a brainwave today, and came up with a topic actually worth writing about and now I can't remember.

I do that alot - with anything, whether it's something that I have to do for university, at home, or even when I'm browsing the interwebs.

I kid you not, I can be on one page, see something and think *must check that out* close said page, open a new tab, click on the address bar and after all that I've forgotten what I wanted to look up...

MY GOD IT'S ANNOYING!

So my latest success in life is my recently published gallery on inthemix of all (and when I say all I mean those photos that passed my tick of approval) of my photos from the Brisbane Zombie Walk.

Can be found HeRe

Seeing as how I now have nothing worthwhile to talk about - I shall end this here.

Who is dating who? Where is blah tonight? What did people think about the news?

A sentence normally will suffice.

Can you tell I just went to see "the social network"?

A movie most definitely for our generation, although having said that (and you can do the research) isn't the facebook demographic moving from our generation to the generation heading for retirement homes where they will have nothing better to do than be on facebook, playing farmtown - or posting pictures of their receding hairline??

Don't get me wrong, I love facebook, I think it's brilliant - not just for users like me or your mum or your 13 year old daughter that befriends older men and posts videos on YouTube about "brain slushies", but it's changing the way businesses interact with consumers - I would say for the best.

Are you a fan of any organisations on facebook?

I attached a link with this entry - www.facebook.com - when you click it, it is highly unlikely that you will get taken to the login page for facebook because more than likely you are reading this because I posted this on facebook thus you are already logged in looking for something to do, thus - here we are.

I'm nearly home now - yes I have been writing from my iPad - so I'm just going to end with a thought.

Irrespective of how you feel about facebook - if/when you go and see "the social network", I'm nearly 100% positive that as you are leaving the cinema or getting on the bus or into the car, you will most certainly take the time to type out how you felt about it and post it on your Wall.
1. It has been ages since I have written anything - suppose I have your mum to blame for that, she keeps my busy.

and

2. MY GOD - I have written some absolute rubbish/crap/drivel in the past. If I EVER disgrace myself and write about Justin Bieber again I will close this blog down and throw myself off of the Story Bridge.

ah shit.

With University holidays coming up I would like to think that this is something that I will have alot of time to do, so I am just going to have the make the effort - between working, photography, being vlogtastic, playing with RC cars, editing videos/photos, buying stuff that I really really really don't need and being awesome - quite an effort, I do agree - although at least I know if all of my plans fail, I will still achieve one of those things on that list....being awesome.

YAY! for humility*

Fun fact! - more people are killed by donkey's annually than are killed in plane crashes.

stupid.

So what's the story? A 16 year old boy gets a tattoo... I know this wouldn't be the first time something irresponsible has happened its just that this time its not just any 16 year old boy getting a tattoo it's Justin Bieber...

Firstly, who gives a rats about J-biebs, he is just a phase, a phase that will pass quicker than the common cold - funnily enough both are as annoying as one another, however today we live in a highly impressionable society, where product placement and subliminal marketing is commonplace (I'm not going to discuss either of these they just sounded cool)

This "Bieber Fever" is crazy, here in Australia a live concert had to be cancelled for fear of another Hillsborough disaster occurring.

Teenage girls haven't drooled this much since they were teething....if this kid told every girl to drink the Magic Kool-Aid, 14 to 16 year old boys would have to resort to having hand parties every night for the rest of their lives.

Twitter had to completely re design their "trending topic" setup just so Justin Bieber would no longer be number 1.

Here's what Twitter said...

"We have tweaked our worldwide trending topic algorithm to better capture the most emergent trends being talked about on Twitter *right now*" - in other words ... not Justin Beiber
The obviously distraught Biebs replied...

"@twitter i heard you changed your system to stop my fans from making trending topics!!!?? Really?? Where is the love??"

Twitter promptly followed by saying...

@justinbieber the TT tweak is nothing personal. It was long planned & better shows what is emerging right now. - riiiiiighhhhtttttttttt
I laff'd.....

I digress...the tattoo... thankfully MY sister isn't a mindless drooling pathetic Justin Bieber fan - she did however write a lovely letter to the Beibs asking him to be her formal date... I should really put it up here...I digress AGAIN - THANKFULLY she is not a J-Biebs fan otherwise she would be wanting a tattoo of a bird on her hip too...

As I said before we live in a highly impressionable society where if you follow a celebrity or someone of significant popularity that you admire e.t.c whatever you get it...you just do what they do, or try to or want to...I can't explain it but I think that people as influential as the Biebs need to really think about what they do, especially with millions of girls (who are impressionable and susceptible to societies trends by nature) following his every move.

The music and film industry just seems like it's inhabited & run by a bunch of fucking puppeteers and we're the puppets.

That's my shout for today.
