Cumulative Update 6 contains a number of fixes for Operations Manager 2007 R2 including cross platform components, support for IBM AIX 7.1 (POWER), support for Oracle Solaris 11 (x86 and SPARC), as well as all of the fixes from Operations Manager 2007 R2 CU5. I asked a question in the SCC forums recently, specifically Is it possible to export Orcestrator runbooks via PowerShell?

And it is! Community member Kenneth Bess shared the following sample script for doing just that…exporting runbooks via the COM interface of the Orchestrator server.

Instructions for use are in the script, but in short, you need to supply two parameters:

I am wondering if PowerShell is supported in ConfigMgr 2007 software deployment? I am having trouble getting it to work in my test deployment.

Answer:

Any valid command-line is supported in ConfigMgr.
You of course have to take into account execution context (runing as local System or the currently logged on user depending upon your settings), the fact that the ConfigMgr client agent is 32-bit, and the PowerShell execution policy also: http://www.iislogs.com/steveschofield/using-sccm-to-publish-a-powershell-script-via-a-package-program-advertisement.

The product team have posted an Operations Manager 2012 Design Guide. The guide looks a bit light to me, but it’s a start!

The guide is concise (10 pages of the 14 contain relevant content) and will give you a good understanding of the new design changes and covers new topics such as resource pools, RMS Removal, design consideration for .Net Application Monitoring. I highly recommend anyone upgrading or starting a new deployment to read this design guide.
