Vanilla WoW Was Awful

Out of the blue we have received news of a playable demo of WoW Classic in Blizzcon 2018. No one was expecting it and yet here it is. Is Classic much closer to launch than we thought? And how will it work? Certainly every player who was present during the Vanilla days is asking himself these questions. Vanilla brings lots of memories to our minds and while most of them are very pleasant, I am pretty sure they are just sugar-coated by nostalgic feelings, making them seem better than the real experiences we had at that time. Do you disagree? Here are my top 3 Vanilla experiences which were not as nice as you remember them to be.

#3 Heirlooms & Mounts

Leveling alts in a few days or weeks? In Vanilla that was a big no-no. It took you so long to level up that having a maximum level alt was an amazing accomplishment for the average player. Heirlooms weren't even close to being invented yet, so you had to go through all the low-level areas again without any XP boost. To top it all off you could only obtain your first mount at level 40, so you needed to play for 39 levels ON FOOT!

Do you need to turn in a quest at the other end of the Barrens? No problem, just walk there for 20 damn minutes!

#2 Looking For Group

Do you enjoy the current Dungeon Finder where you can get into dungeons by pressing a button and waiting a few minutes? In Vanilla you had to do the whole work yourself. You needed to spam trade chat for a long time looking for members to your group and hoping that by the time you found your last member, your first member didn't have to leave. Then, if everything worked out on this first phase you all had to move to the dungeon (sometimes in another continent, meaning you had to wait for a boat in Booty Bay or something similar) and take a minimum of another hour or so to clear it. Will WoW Classic eliminate Dungeon Finder? That would be fun to watch.

#1 Making Gold

Of course #1 would have to be about making gold!

When I played Vanilla I was far from good in the AH. In fact, I don't even know how someone could be so bad at it like I was. I took so many months to get enough gold to buy my first mount (60% speed at level 40) and even longer to get my first epic mount (the 100% speed horse for the Human Mage I was playing by then!). I was mostly farming cloths in Western Plaguelands and doing dungeons to get even more materials. Afterwards I would sell them at the AH along with other random items I came across with. Sometimes I would also sell enchants - through the Trade Window because tradeable enchant scrolls weren't invented yet!

Making gold was tough, and even something as simple as having a bank alt was hard. You could only send 1 item or stack per mail so it took a long time to transfer items around your characters, and to top it all off, mailboxes were rare! Major cities had very few mailboxes and they were far away from the AH which made you run around a lot. Do you own a guild bank in order to have extra storage in your bank alt? Yep, you didn't have that either in Vanilla.

You've got to love this vintage gear but I wouldn't go back to Vanilla. Would you?

How to Use TSM4 Sniper - The Easy Way

So you're trying new methods to make gold in WoW and you come across this interesting addon called TradeSkillMaster also know as just TSM. You read stories about how lots of people are getting millions of gold with it and you decide to try it out. In your first 10 minutes using it you become overwhelmed with all the configurations required to make it work, but do not fear, I present you the How to Use TSM4 series, starting with one of its most famous features: Sniper.

In this guide I will show how to set everything up in the most simple way. It only takes a few minutes, promise!

What is Sniper?

Sniper is a TSM module that scans the first and last pages of the AH searching for items which are priced below their market value, allowing you to buy them out immediatly or make a bid on the last minutes. Afterwards you can resell them at their actual market value and collect a great profit. Sounds amazing, right? Let me show you an easy way to get started using TSM Sniper, in just a few steps.

How to get started with Sniper

You need three things to make it work: the TSM4 addon, the TSM App Helper addon and the TSM Desktop App.

(1) Installing the addons should be a no-brainer for you. Simply download the TradeSkillMaster and the TradeSkillMaster_AppHelper addons from your usual addon database. Personally I use the Twitch app to search for these addons and keep them updated.

(2) Register for free on the TSM website and install the TSM Desktop App by downloading it there. (Official Website: https://www.tradeskillmaster.com). This app is where you will automatically obtain the market value of items for your server. It updates its database several times a day and then sends the information to your TSM addon through the TSM_AppHelper.

After following the previous step, make sure that everything is working correctly with your TSM Desktop App by seeing if your data is updated (orange rectangle below). If it shows you the current date you are ready to start Sniping! To do it, just open the AH and select the "Sniper" option on the TSM module window.

In the next menu you can choose to do a Buyout or Bid scan.

The Buyout scan will search the first pages of the AH for items below market value and will show you their buyout price and the percentage of market value which that price represents. As it keeps finding items, it will put them in a list where you can see more details and buy them out with just 2 clicks.
The Bid scan will search the last pages of the AH for items below market value which are only a few minutes away from having their listing removed, so you can easily make a last-minute bid and win the auction.

Just choose one those options and start scanning the AH like a true goblin. Usually you can find more deals using the Buyout scan because it's continuously scanning the most recent postings so you have a high chance of being the one who sees a bargain first. Give it a try, but don't start trying to flip every item you see just because it's on the Sniper window. Make sure you're fully informed about market values before you pull the trigger - remember uninformed flipping is dangerous.

And that's it, you're now a fully licensed AH sniper!

TSM already has a scan criteria by default, that's why it's so easy to set up and start doing it. If you want to snipe by using your own criteria you can always change the string used for the search. This is for the more advanced users, but you can do it by opening the TSM options menu (type /tsm) and editing the Sniper Operations.

The Gold Mask

For this first episode I'm bringing you Shadoweave Masks.

What's so special about this headpiece item? I mean, it's just a bandana...

It's a requirement for one of the riddles that lead you to the Lucid Nightmare mount - a unique mount which many players desire. It's a reward for completing a series of riddles throughout Azeroth, and hundreds of players are trying to obtain it every week!

Shadoweave Masks can be crafted with Tailoring and you can learn this craft from a recipe that drops in northern Searing Gorge from the Dark Iron Steamsmiths - [Pattern: Shadoweave Mask]. The drop rate is around 0.4% and you should be able to get it by farming the dwarves for around 30 minutes depending on your luck.

The materials needed to craft the mask are the following:

2x [Bolt of Mageweave]
8x [Shadow Silk]
2x [Heavy Silken Thread]

You now have two options. Choose the cheapest one for you:

(1) Gather the materials yourself by farming the dwarves and spiders of Searing Gorge that drop the Mageweave Cloth and the Spider Silk (with a low drop rate)

(2) Buy the materials directly on the AH and apply a chunky markup to obtain a high profit

Depending on your server's economy you can now choose one of these options and see the gold coming in.You will be surprised by the demand that exists for this item. It's not a fast-selling piece but you will be able to keep a steady source of income from them, even if you can only sell 4-5 a week. I have seen other players obtain profits of over 7,500 gold per mask which is a nice addition to any goblin's portfolio, specially if the materials are available at the AH for low prices and the low effort it requires once you already have the pattern.

Top 3 Strategies to Lose WoW Gold

There are dozens of ways to make gold in WoW, but it's just as important to know how not to lose it. If you're making mistakes that cost you thousands every week, you will never fulfill your potential to be rich, even if you're dominating the AH in your server. So here are the top 3 strategies that will make you lose gold. Pro tip: don't follow them.

Trying to control a market

Let's picture this scenario: you see a specific market where everyone made crazy undercuts and sank the prices below crafting costs. The market has been like that for weeks, you happen to have a load of gold in your bag and you think "You know what, I could buy all this and just post the items and reset this market by posting at any price I please". STOP RIGHT THERE!

This is one of the most dangerous things you could do with your shiny hard-earned gold coins. Some will say it's a high-risk/high-reward situation, but it's a trap. It's like shifting sands, where the more you move trying to get out, the more you get stuck in there (increasing your chance of dying, by the way).

If you want to continuously control a market you will need to buy every single item day after day. You might be able to earn some gold for a while, but eventually you won't be able to catch up with all the players who post items every day. This is specially true in high-population servers, where the goblin-to-normal-player ratio is 1 to 100,000. Over time, this procedure will become to heavy for you to handle and you will start losing money. Don't throw your gold coins in a bottomless pit.

Uninformed flipping

So we all have that friend who made millions flipping items on the AH, taking advantage of the poor blokes who wrote a few less zeros than they intended. That's actually a good method to become rich in this game, but it's not as easy as it seems.

Some markets are being manipulated by some players to trick you into thinking they're worth more than they really are. You see, when you're scanning the AH prices, several people have posted items way more expensive than they should be just to make you record that price and consider it "market price". After a few AH scans, the more uninformed goblin could start thinking every price in his database is fair, and suddenly every single BFA BoE will seem like a bargain you can flip and triple your investment. Never forget: you need more than a few AH scans to consider your database reliable, and even after dozens of them you should always be careful and make sure you know what you're doing. Don't let yourself become that poor uninformed goblin who lost thousands trying to be a flipping master.

Not adapting to change

This is the most important point on the list. Like any economy, WoW's economy is dynamic and goes through continuous change. Market trends rise and fall, and a savvy goblin knows how to ride these waves without stress. If you're not able to adapt your strategies and create new ones you risk losing thousands of gold or earning less than optimal amounts of it.

Even if Blizzard nerfs one of your gold-making methods you should always accept it as part of life and move on to finding new markets. This way you will save yourself the stress of losing a source of income, and at the same time you can look at it as a chance to go through the fun process of finding new markets to take advantage of! There's no point in becoming toxic about it. This is just a game and these challenges are part of it.

After an hiatus of several years, I am back to the world of gold-making in WoW. Despite this absence in blogging, I have played every expansion during this period so I'm familiar with everything that has changed so far, and I'm excited to share knowledge with you once again.

Too Greedy will continue to be a place to share first-hand WoW gold-making experiences, but it is now much more. You will find a more diverse content than before, ranging from game tips, secrets, reviews of game features/addons and much more.

Patch day wasn't too bad...

...in fact, it was too good!

At first, I feared the worst. ZeroAuctions wouldn't work. QA+Fix wouldn't work. After spending over half an hour trying to sort it, I realised QA was working but had no item groups in it (ZA probably messed it up or something). The solution: building item groups all the way from the start and getting in the AH as fast as possible. And it all worked fine after that little obstacle!

I just regret not having as many glyphs as my server demands (the usual after-patch syndrome). The demand was overwhelming, I never thought there would be so many buyers. After roughly 1 hour and a half (right after lunch time, so not a peak time), I had already managed to get over 3,000g profit.

During the rest of the afternoon, and during the evening, the rest of my stock of glyphs was sold, and I'm now sitting on over 65,000 gold. Lots of glyphs were priced way over 100 gold, and even competitors messaged me trying to keep it that way (Hey Cheapglyphs!). We even discussed which glyphs were hot so we could craft more!

Now, onto other subjects! Still getting used to my Restoration Shaman again, as they changed a few spells and added new stuff. Healing Surge, the new Greater Healing Wave, and other spells still sound weird to me. Soon, I shall go do some instances and practice some rotations, as mana management seems harder now (so I heard from experienced players).
2/3/31 seemed like a good spec, so that's what I chose. Hopefully, the ideal Resto spec won't be too different from mine.

The whole UI changes are also pretty amazing, and it feels nice to have a fresh UI! (despite those nasty addon errors everywhere, huh...)

Overall, it was a great day for a WoW gamer!

Glyph Insane - Part II

So, you have patiently waited for part II of my Glyph Insane series, eh?

Your wait was not in vain. So, as I promised, the results are here. First batch result:

4,000 gold was my initial profit. It got better...way better! You see, when you got all your competitors on your friends list (and apparently you're not on theirs), you can easily outsmart them, specially if they're just mindless creatures who only look at QA's "Post" button.

The second batch was just crazy. I didn't expect it to go the way it did.

So, what do you think of this great improvement over 1 year?

Also, did I mention I'm on a low population server now? (last year I was on Medium Population)

Glyph Insane, Part I

Do you remember my posts about my Glyph Madness a year ago? If you do, you realise that it was a great accomplishment to me back then (thanks for sticking around this long, by the way!). 2 days of experiment, and the result was 2,000g profit on day 1, and nearly 4,000g profit on day 2, with a total of 500 glyphs posted. Why am I bring this back, you ask? Well, I want to show you how I have improved since then by constantly trying to improve all the process, time and quantity wise.

I use QA and KTQ for this (along with some other addon requirements for KTQ). Back in those Glyph Madness days, I didn't use KTQ because I was either too dumb or too lazy to even try it. It sounded horrifying having to config all those settings through the console and slash commands. That was mistake number one.

Mistake number two was not selling anything besides glyphs and Snowfall Inks. There are way more options to profit, like selling Vellums and Off-Hands, and they should not be overlooked. These allow me to raise my net profit by a few thousands.

So now, onto business! I know we're in an economy tension moment due to the "Cataclysm will arrive anytime now" state that we're living, but I still make a lot of money from glyphs, and I decided to make another Insane experiment from glyphs 1 year later and see where we stand.

(Just ignore the green gems, they aren't involved in anything, they happened to be there while I was moving stuff to my guild bank)

The initial process is the same. Get herbs (I got suppliers now, which speeds up the process and lets me have lower ink costs), mill them, and ask KTQ for directions. After crafting everything above my threshold, and posting it all, it's just a matter of waiting.

I doubled the number of glyphs I posted. I dominated most of the market. Are you curious to know how well this pre-Cataclysm test worked? Stay tuned! If you liked it last year, I'm sure you'll love this...

How to be Rich, the noob guide

This is a new series that I'm starting, to show you that it is possible to become a rich player while leveling, by playing through levels 1-25 (the noob levels!), and therefore it's even easier to be rich at level 80.

I have created a Warrior for this purpose, and I'll just skip the initial area because there's really not much room for profit there. The place is just meant to get you to learn the basics, get to level 6, and start your journey.

This guide is about questing effectively, and using the Dungeon Tool to get mats, and XP (Heirlooms are optional, but they're a great help)

There are 3 main rules you should always keep in your mind from this point onwards:

Always loot EVERYTHING in the mobs that you kill. You will need to vendor every grey item, and keep some white items with you to sell at the AH (meat, low level gems, etc.). The money you get from this will be your base money. This is the money you will always keep in your bags, no matter what, so you can acquire stuff that is necessary, so why not pick everything up?
Get 2 Professions as soon as you can, but no need to stop your initial questing sprees. If you're questing, stay on it until you're done with all the quests from the city you're currently on. By level 10, I recommend you take those professions no matter what, but until then don't rush it.
Be fast, be effective, and don't waste time. Time is money! This guide is about leveling fast and make money fast, so there's no other way for you to be than being fast!

I took Tailoring and Enchanting on my new character for this experiment, but Tailoring was more of a thing I've wanted to have for a long time, and I didn't find many ways to profit at such a low level (I'm expecting a lot from Bags in the future though!). Enchanting was the main money source, and I'll tell you how.

Get to level 15 as fast as you can. After this, you'll be able to join the LFG Tool while leveling and this is where the real game begins.

With Enchanting, I was able to disenchant everything and create hundreds of Dusts and Essences while doing instances. With all these mats, you can either sell them immediatly OR level up your Enchanting a bit, and sell some of those cool enchants everyone buys all the time (Beastslayer for red glow, +Damage for blue glow, you name it)

With Tailoring, profits are definitely lower in this stage, but you can still sell Linen/Woolen Shirts (people buy them very often actually, for their "fun" costumes). I have found that Woolen Bags actually sell very well too, specially on weekends, so you should try that on your server and see if it works!

After reaching the level 23-25 stage, my Professions were already at the 100+ level, and making money became even easier...

So, if you've come this far in the guide, what are you waiting for to make lots of gold on your new character? The noob status doesn't last forever, and you're just about to stop being one!

Other water...still refreshing!

This week, I came back to raiding. This is part of my Cataclysm preparation, because as you know, I came back to the game recently, so it's good for me to start reliving everything again. Since I returned, I've probably been spending more time handling all my stocks and gold than anything else, so I'm now trying something "new". (Raiding posts may be reborn!)

Diversifying has been the key to not becoming insane. I've been doing PvP (even though I'm a noob), raids, mount hunting (got my Albino Drake now), and my auctions are still selling at the same rate, which shows me that I probably shouldn't have been spending so much time looking at Auctioneers in Orgrimmar. Gold is my main passion, but I'm moderating my behaviour now.

I know Cataclysm is getting close, and sometimes it feels that time isn't enough because November 2nd is only a month and a half away, but why not relax a bit and prevent yourself from getting burned before it arrives?

In case you're going through the same, take my words for it, try new waters, they're still as refreshing as making gold like a mad man, even if you're too greedy like a certain person.

How to use the JMTC Forums successfully

The Just My Two Copper Forums are the biggest source for free information on how to make gold in World of Warcraft. In there, you can find tips, strategies, techniques, for every market and for every case. Still, you might get confused when you first join, and stumble upon all those thousands of posts, which may not seem clear for you at first. This is a small guide explaining what to do if you want to become a successful auctioneer on your server, and how to use the Just My Two Copper Forums to do it. I will tell you how to use all the sections on the Forum in order to achieve great sucess in making WoW gold.

First things first

Before you read anything, you must realise that every piece of information in there comes from all the users' knowledge on their own economies. You can find the most brilliant minds in there, but remember that you shouldn't take every piece of advice there blindly, mainly because every server is different. Population, Alliance/Horde Ratio, lots of factors come into play when it comes to the economy status, and you should always think for yourself and investigate your markets before actually doing anything recommended there, because what works for them is not 100% guaranteed to work for you. If you find that it actually works for you, then great, do it. But bear in mind that nothing is guaranteed. That is the first step in learning how to be successful using the Forums.

Learning and putting it to use

With that in mind, if you're new to the Gold Making Community and struggle to make gold at the moment, your first temptation might be posting on the "OMG I can't make Gold" board and ask for help, which is not the right thing to do. You see, to become a successful businessman, you must read a lot first. That is the first and main thing to do when you're there.

Read the Strategies Board to learn lots of strategies for gold making. That could be for the Auction House itself, Farming, taking advantage of Holidays (some of them can be really profittable), and learning how to use your Professions for maximum profit. There's always a recipe you have overlooked and perhaps you could profit with it. There's always some things about specific markets that you don't know!
Learn what addons to use and how to configure them in the Addons Board; Addons take a great part in an Auctioneer's life, because time is money, and the more automated your routines are, the more money you will earn. This is a concept you should learn as soon as possible. You'll realise that addons are a must when it comes to making money.
Find out more sources of information through the Link Love section. This is where you'll find links to the JMTC members' websites, and you will be able to learn more by reading their blogs, as they often share knowledge in there that's not on the JMTC Forums.
Also, find some time in your busy schedule to roam around the General Discussion Forum. Introduce yourself, share your server's trends and interesting events. Share how you made your fortune in the Rags to Riches section, suggest something new (or report something that's wrong) to the Forum, and if you're having serious trouble with something, don't hesitate to ask in the OMG I Can't Make Gold section for advice. Just be sure to come back and help others too when your questions are answered!

After you've read all the information in there, it's time to actually put it to use. I mean, you won't make any gold while browsing some Forums, right? Don't be afraid to fail (it will happen sometimes, you can't help it), and put those techniques to practice. Start small, and then just broaden your horizons as soon as you get the money and the will to do it.

After JMTC, your perception is different

When you become a well informed person, and put yourself out there actually playing in the AH, experience will come to you naturally just like in anything else that you do. You won't become a successful auctioneer in 1 day, only over time you will develop your skill, and it's only up to you to achieve the state of Auction House Master. Try hard, and use every piece of information you get your hands on. Soon, you'll become a sucessful auctioneer, and you'll be able to think for yourself how to succeed on your server, thanks to the JMTC Forums.

"Preparations must be made..."

Good ol' Moroes is right. Preparations must be made...for Cataclysm. That's right, I am late once again, and I've only recently started to prepare my bags for Cataclysm. But insane profits are on my wishlist for this year's early Christmas (November 2, so I've heard), so take a look at my current arrangements.

Saronite Ore (and others)
Been investing a lot in hundreds of stacks of Saronite and a few dozens of stacks of the rest of the ores. I'm currently sitting on nearly 200 stacks of Saronite and raising every day. Not so sure how I will handle them all at the expansion launch, but I'll find a way! I heard these things will get a surge of demand because of all the new Alchemists and Engineers (those greedy green new guys in the Horde) that will show up, so I didn't think twice and started stockpiling right away.
Current investment: Close to 3,000 gold.

Inscription Goods
Inscription has been one of the best sources of income for me and even though it's still not certain how it will work in Cataclysm, I think it surely won't die. Therefore, I've been getting the cheapest herbs, and started building my Cata-labeled stocks of glyphs for all classes, vellums, inks, runescrolls, nearly everything that this Profession can provide! I'm still working on what to do with the leftover inks I will have after all this, as I haven't read a lot about them yet, but hopefully they won't become useless (pretty please, Blizzard?). In summary, I'm expecting a deja-vu of 3.2 all over again. Are you with me?

Cataclysm and its twists

I've been hit with loads of information (and I really mean LOADS) about Cataclysm lately, which are said to influence the economies by then. There's a lot of speculation going on apparently, on subjects like:

Zul'Gurub is no longer a raid instance.
Glyphs will be needed only once (they will be like spells).
Some vendors that currently sell valuable items will disappear.
...And there's a lot of other examples.

I know the Beta is online at the moment, but how reliable is this kind of information this far away from the actual 4.0 release? How can people immediatly guess all the consequences of such events? I think it's good to speculate, because when people are brainstorming possibilites, some of them actually make sense, but I've been reading lots of non-sense like "Inscription will die" or "I won't be able to make money anymore due to these stupid changes, bla bla".

Maybe I was unlucky on finding mostly this kind of quitters (I called them slackers a few months back) but it makes me be happy about it. Strange feeling, I know, but bear with me. People cannot be 100% right when they speculate and come to a conclusion. But if they find out that they were wrong, they can and WILL change their mind (especially in this game), and take a step on the opposite direction. So, all these quitters that I'm talking about will be there on the markets that they criticised themselves, it's just a matter of when. With their loser attitude, they will probably not take action towards leveling their professions right when Deathwing blows Azeroth up, which gives us - astute people - an immediate step ahead of these competitors. For how long? Until all the losers realise they were wrong and start climbing their way to the mountain top that we set foot in a few weeks (or months) back! So, think ahead of time and you'll make a blast on the beginning, but eventually, everyone will catch up, and the role you'll play will be exactly the same as it is right now. Why worry about it so much, if you'll be rich either way?

Make your money now, while you're preparing to go ahead all those slackers. But remember, they'll be your competitors soon enough.

A whole week has gone by and it wasn't as bad as I expected. Last week I showed you that I had 13,939g 59s 22c, and after a whole week of work remembering how to look at the AH from a smart salesman's perspective, this is what I reached:

That's right, my first week after returning was amazing. I spent lots of gold leveling Blacksmithing on my DK (still on BC levels at the moment), and I still managed to reach 24,000 gold (10,000 more than what I had one week ago!), and I'm tremendously happy with this. In detail, I've sold glyphs, runescrolls, gems, powders...and I flipped lots of goods like pets and item enhancement stuff (those two never let me down). My motivation really paid off, as this is a record for me. However, I know that it's possible to get a higher weekly average by using every profession in the perfect harmony, and I'm still working on gathering stuff to powerlevel a few extra professions.

Yeah, Inscription is dead. It's a shame you can't make gold with it anymore...

Rambling bored at 3 AM

Bored late at night, with nothing else to do, and a friend that shares the same feeling. What a perfect environment for pointless (but amusing) events. Still worth posting. First, we dueled under Dalaran, in that open area near the Teleport thingy. Then we dueled again, but this time naked. A boxing match which I won! After a few minutes, Alliance players appeared and joined the laugh. I was surprised there was no fighting! Did a few duels, and eventually we *accidentally* attacked them, which caused...a little... fighting.

Afterwards, we decided to go to Zul'Gurub. We killed every animal boss, just to remember the old times. No raptor or tiger for us, but killing Hakkar again after a long time feels amazing! The last time I killed him was 2 weeks before the release of TBC! He is no match against two people though, as he doesn't drain a lot of health.

Then, we headed to Karazhan and hit the door with our noses when we realised that we didn't have the key. I did Karazhan back on my Thunderhorn Alliance days on my Warrior, so no key for me on the Shammy. My friend was also in the same situation, as he left his key-carrying toon on another server. I (as an Orc) was able to get through that hole to the side of the entrance, but my Tauren friend has extra difficulties in fitting there, so we actually ended up killing him and making him ressurect between the gate and the instance portal, which worked, so we both got inside and killed a few bosses there. No horse, though. But damn, I still had lots of fun with an old instance. Always loved that place! And I noticed for the first time that there's an organist in there next to the Opera Event. Now I know where the music comes from!

Now, let's talk about the money! These runs actually let me acquire close to 500 gold because apparently some people find the Primal Tiger Leather and the ZG Coins/Bijous VERY valuable. That money plus the money from vendoring ZG epics that we didn't want for amusement purposes allowed me to make gold out of a night of boredom. Quite interesting how you can really make lots of gold so easily, huh?

I'm Blackwolf, and I've been a WoW player since Vanilla, so I am quite experienced in the game as I've been through every single trend on this game and tried nearly everything the game offers. You probably know me from the JMTC Forums too, as I'm an MVP there.

This is a blog about my experiences in WoW and how to make gold while doing lots of things there. My goal is to show you all that it's possible to make gold at any level, and I show you how I do it, and therefore how you can get in a gold making mentality too. I also share my thoughts on the game from time to time.

Too Greedy has been around for a year now and if you're into this kind of approach in WoW, this is definitely a good source of information for you. After a few days of endless AH investigations, I have found that many markets are based on dull principles (at least in my point of view). Lots of them have pseudo-barons that flood like maniacs and usually buy the items from whoever posts in their domain so they can be the only ones selling. Maybe they're not so pseudo in the end, because they should actually make gold from such a technique, but guess what I've been having fun with!

The gem markets (both Rare and Epic ones), the Metals market (both Ores and Bars), even some aspects the Inscription Markets! I had a lot of fun posting stuff way over the cheapest price, and they all sold. They would either sell because Mr. Baron bought them, or because the cheapest ones sold and Mr. Baron wasn't paying attention, so mine sold afterwards. Either way I had 100% guaranteed sales at excellent prices, especially from 9 PM to 3 AM (it seems this is the absolute peak on my server every night). I guess I could call myself the King of the Night.

I really shine at the AH at night!

Remember to always search for the flaws in your server's markets!

Too Greedy lives again...revamped!

Too Greedy seems to be missed by quite a few people (thank you loyal followers!), and I came back to WoW recently so I might aswell make this work again. Quick recap: I'm on the server Karazhan-EU, and I'm trying to prepare for Cataclysm, while gathering a few coins in the process. I've gone mad for gold again, and the AH has been my playground for a whole week. The glyph market doesn't seem as profittable anymore, and I'm ashamed to say that I only had Inscription and JC for a good while because my toons are now spread across a few European servers and right now (on Karazhan) I only got those 2. My goal is to have some more professions as quick as possible so I can expand to more markets, because Cataclysm is on its way. Yep, I've been a slacker! But I'm trying to correct it now, and this is how I'm standing:

Surprised I'm this poor? I lost money during the server transfer. 20K was the limit and I brough the rest in item value. Some items were missing, I bought some vanity stuff just for fun, and some other lame stuff happened (and the GMs didn't fix it), and I was down to the 10K-ish level again. Not complaining, just looking forward to take a lesson out of this, and I have already made a few coins just from a couple of days of looking around the AH (still trying to raise my pace, so to speak). All the markets have changed a lot since the last time I played and I'm still trying to adapt.

WoW is different and I'm feeling that Cataclysm will be huge, and I'm working hard on catching the same wave as the whole Gold Making Community. I've even been re-reading the whole JMTC Forums again just so I could remember lots of useful stuff I forgot!

Now, it is just a matter of time.

On another note, what do you think about the whole revamp around here? Need feedback on everything you see on this page!

My AH Routine

After all my game sessions, I mail the stuff I don't need to my lower level Paladin, who is my Bank Alt at the moment. Posting all the stuff on the AH might seem like an endless job, but it's not. All thanks to Auctioneer and its Appraiser part.

If the video is hard to understand, here are the details of all you have to do.

1. What you need is Auctioneer, and goods to sell.

2. At the AH, do a complete scan of all the auctions. The time it takes varies, depending on your PC and depending on if you choose a quick scan, or a normal scan.

3. After the scan is complete, click on the 'Appraiser' tab, on the bottom of the AH Window. This will bring up a new window with options like Stack Size, Number of Stacks, Batch Posting, etc. What you want to do, is select the items you want to sell on the list on the left of the window (this has to be done one by one, but it's really easy). Then, just choose your stack size, and click 'Enable Batch Posting' (the price should be set to Market Price already, so you probably don't have to worry with that).

3.1. What stack size should you choose?

That depends on what item you're selling, and how many of those items people use for their professions (or any other purpose). Let me show you some examples.

*Metal Bars
People use these for Blacksmithing mainly. What you have to do is find out the most popular BS recipes and set your bar stack size accordingly. If it doesn't work, sell them 1 by 1, as it's most likely to sell rather than in full stacks. And you can often raise the price a bit if you're selling them 1 by 1. Why? Because people who only need 2 bars prefer to buy 2 bars costing 10g each, than buying a full stack costing 150g. Wouldn't you do the same if you were the buyer?

These can be handed in for reputation in Zangarmarsh, in stacks of 10. So, what stack size do you think people will buy the most? Of course, any multiple of 10. 10, 20, 30, 100...You choose.

4. After all the details on the Appraiser tab are decided, and every item you want to sell is 'Enable Batch Posting' ticked, just Ctrl + Alt + Shift + Click the 'Batch Post' button, and the items will be posted automatically.

We're all slaves! Slaves to the gold. Well, some are more than others, but if you think about, your power in this game has a limit, and that's not the limit of the gear stats, it's the gold you have. Let's take a look at this.

If you're a raider, you need several things to be at your top game: enchants, gems (epic ones), belt buckles, that extra BoE that helps you when the RNG doesn't allow to get upgrades. All these require gold, and lots of it. I see discussions all over the Internet all the time about this. Raiders need to be as good as they can, period. If you seem to be skint all the time, it's time for you to get some spare time and earn gold. It benefits you and your raidmates.

If you're a PvPer, the same principle applies. You need the best enchants and gems, thus you need lots of gold.

If you're bored, you may want to create a twink. Twinking a character requires lots of gold too.

I could go on all day with this, but my point is, gold is your limitation in anything you do, so why not take some time out of your "jumping around in Dalaran", or even your "farming herbs for selling at the AH", and actually doing something more. Jump to the next level, and try to be rich. "Well, that's easy for you to say", you might say. It's easy to say and to do. The AH is no rocket science. There's people like you there, trying to make a living. Join them!

How? The Internet is filled with information about how the AH works, and how people use it most of the times. What you have to do is taking advantage of some people's bad use of the AH. After you know those basic skills, it's just a matter of learning the right times to buy and sell, and you're set. Does it seem too hard? It isn't, that's a myth. Let's go into details, and perhaps I can even teach you something.

I mentioned that people use the AH in a wrong way previously. What I mean by this is that some people just dump their goods there and pray that they sell; they don't care about the price, all they care about is to undercut the competition. On a few cases, that's the way to go, but it often isn't. First, think about how popular the item is, and think about its probability of selling. By using common sense, you will probably find out that stuff like gems, enchants, metal, cloth, are the most popular. So, if these items sell all the time, why undercut? Every silver coin you're missing is money. Do you like to lose money? No, that's why you should not undercut in these cases. Post it a little higher than the cheapest one that is there. That one will sell, and then your item will be the first on the list. Try it and you'll see!

This is just the beginning of a neverending list of stuff you can do every day at the AH that will allow you to have no limits on this game. And does it feel nice to open the AH window and buy anything you feel like buying, just for the sake of it. Even stuff you don't really need.

I found it amazingly funny, because it is the ultimate proof of how overpowered the DK class can be if played correctly.

I'm done with Zangarmarsh (no achievement, though!), and have now moved on to Nagrand. I probably won't complete Nagrand Slam either, but who knows. And now that we're talking about achievements, I would also like to complete PvP achievements. There's only one problem: I cannot find any alliance player! If I find a couple a week I'm lucky!

You may say, just go do a BG and problem solved. No, it's not that simple. Battlegrounds take ages to start (last night, I was on the queue to AV for over 2 hours!), and when it's time to go in, I usually have to log off. That's what happens when you go to a low population realm/battlegroup, so take this as a lesson. Always try and do some research on where you're re-rolling before you actually start leveling a new character. Don't be a fool like me.

Hey, but this post is not just shameless whining about how unaware I was. I will still pull my weight when it comes to achieving other stuff, even if PvP isn't that acessible. The Auction House has got nearly 20,000 items every day, which isn't bad at all, I think. That's where I'm aiming, besides doing some PvE action of course! And it has been working well so far, with low level mats, and random stuff that I get while questing.

However, I don't play much at the moment because RL doesn't allow, so these goals may take a good while to fulfill. But they will be fulfilled!
