You may agree or disagree with his position, but have the honesty and the courage not to distort it.

To put it simply, I was trying to demonstrate how awesomely ignorant people who say things like “9-11 was God’s punishment of New York” or “God made Hurricane Katrina to destroy New Orleans because of their acceptance of openly gay people in that city.”

I would venture that a vast majority of American’s have never heard of The New Yorker. Also, it does have plenty of satire. It also has lots of fiction, and reviews. I think Terry’s point in his response is that unlike the New York Times, no one goes to the New Yorker for news, its supposed to be a joke.

We need redistricting all across America by non-partisan commissions so that Congressional races are competitive. We also need a short, publicly funded campaign season, so that the corrupting influence of big money, is reduced and the will of the People, shall be heard.

Right now, Congressmen spend most of their time raising money for their next election. That leaves absolutely no time, or incentive to serve the will of constituents.

This is not exclusively Eric Cantor’s problem. It is as though Congress were a bunch of drug addicts, where the drug in this case is money, and none of them have either the will or any incentive to extricate themselves from their terrible addiction.

Republicans and Democrats who still love this Republic, MUST unite to create non-partisan redistricting commissions in every state. We must then ensure that our election seasons are shortened to less than six months and that we have public financing of elections.

If we do not unite to reform our election system, we and future generations are doomed to suffer under corporate dictatorship and we shall see the demise of representative democracy here on earth.

The potential for ‘bad homeschooling’, is a symptom of a far greater, more important cause: Some people should never have kids in the first place. No matter where or how they educate the little darlings, they wil burden their communities with their ill conceived family plans!

We do not need more laws dictating to us when and how to educate our kids!

Far better would be laws ensuring family planning and preparenting (like a five year pre-parent program) resources for those who wish to become parents!

All children should enjoy the benefit of a financially, emotionally stable, loving, committed set of parents. In all socioeconomic classes, this is, too often, not the case.
