What’s New in Twinmotion 2026.1

Photo matching – New in Twinmotion 2026.1

Want to see how your design would look in a real-world context? Twinmotion 2026.1 makes it easy. Load a background image as a backplate and use the new Match Perspective tool to easily identify vanishing points; Twinmotion will automatically adjust the camera’s position and focal length to match, enabling you to seamlessly integrate your 3D model into the 2D image. You can even project shadows from the 3D objects in your scene onto the calculated ground plane to really reinforce the illusion.

Automatic edge softening – New in Twinmotion 2026.1

CG objects can sometimes look just a little bit too perfect, with unnaturally sharp edges that detract from believability. With the new Autosoft edge feature, you can easily apply a rendering effect to selected objects that automatically softens hard edges to a specified radius. The effect works in Standard, Lumen, and Path Tracer modes.

Lighting channel – New in Twinmotion 2026.1

With new support for lighting channels, you can precisely control which elements of the scene your physical lights affect; only objects and lights assigned to the same channel will interact. This feature enables you to fine-tune your lighting to suit your purpose. For example, in a product or fashion shot, you might want to exclude the product from being lit by background lighting.

New camera and lens effects – New in Twinmotion 2026.1

When you look at objects at different distances from you, your eyes automatically change their focus to match. That’s something you can now replicate in Twinmotion using the new Auto focus feature. When using the depth of field effect, you can now choose to have the focal point automatically adjust to the center of the screen, so that it effectively follows the camera’s look-at point. You can set the time the focus takes to adjust, and also choose to apply a hunting effect occasionally, frequently, or not at all.

We’ve also added two new lens bokeh characteristics that affect the quality of the blur in the depth of field effect: Anamorphic oval and Petzval, enabling you to replicate real-world lens effects—such as elongated and swirling bokeh—in out-of-focus areas of the images. The effects can be used individually or combined.

New and improved particle VFX – New in Twinmotion 2026.1

Dynamic effects like fire, fog, smoke, and water can really bring your scene to life. We’ve completely revamped the particle-based effects in the Twinmotion library for optimized performance and enhanced visual quality. As well as bringing a number of new examples, the effects now have exposed parameters so you can customize them to your heart’s content.

European Tree Pack – New in Twinmotion 2026.1

Also on the asset front, we’ve added 10 new species of photorealistic European trees—each with three variations—to the Twinmotion library, so you can create richer, more diverse wooded environments for your project.
