It seems as though this question gets asked more and more often especially in todays society. "Should I declare bankruptcy?"
People tend to believe that this is the easy way out of their financial obligations. While it is true that this is a way to get out of your financial burdens the important thing to remember is that declaring bankruptcy is final and should not be taken lightly.
This is the worst thing that you can do to affect your credit score and it will leave a mark on your credit report for seven years. While it is possible to establish good credit after filing bankruptcy; the thing that you are going to realize is that it is going to be difficult to get creditors to trust you again.
When creditors pull your credit report and they notice that you have filed bankruptcy; then their first instinct is that you can not handle your financial obligations. They are also more determined not to lend you money.
Of course you may still get that auto loan or mortgage loan; however you are going to notice that it is not going to be the best interest rate. As a matter of fact it is most likely going to be higher than you anticipated paying back.
So the answer to your question "should I declare bankruptcy?" Well that is a personal choice; once you have done your research and discovered the negatives and the positives of filing it; then if you still feel as though it is still your only choice then of course you should take care of you and your family.
There is nothing more stressful than having to deal with dealing with payments that you can not make or if you are being bothered by those annoying calls by the creditors.

There is a naval standoff happening in the Bay of Bengal. Myranmar and Bangladesh are at odds over who owns the rights to search for and extract natural gas and oil along their maritime boundaries.

The Bay of Bengal conflict has been building for years. Officials from both countries have been in talks for years over who owns the Bay and therefore the rights to resources that are discovered there. At this point official from Bangeldesh are reporting that the South Korean firm, The Daewoo-Myanmar company, hired by Myranmar to search for oil, is starting the process of withdrawal from the area as conflict between the two countries is escalating. The Myranmar government is stating that they are only stalling temporarily while the two countries sort out their differences.
Both countries are public saying they are searching for a peaceful solution to the problem and both have approached China, an ally of both countries, to mediate. However, both countries have put their armies on alert and have deployed naval war ships to the area.
Neither of these nations is a naval superpower. Both fleets are largely composed of patrol boats, many armed with those ubiquitous Chinese anti-ship missiles. Each nation is believed to have a frigate or corvette sized ship at the scene, as well as some missile armed patrol boats. If it came to violence, the C802 missiles could make quick work of ships on both sides. The older missiles, less so.

The last time the C-802 was used in combat, was two years ago, against an Israeli warship. Two C-802s were fired at an 1,100 ton Israeli corvette off the coast of Lebanon. One hit the helicopter hanger, but the warhead failed to go off. The fire on the Israeli ship was caused by the half a ton of missile crashing into it, and unburned rocket fuel. The other C-802 homed in on a nearby Egyptian merchant ship, and sank it (the warhead on that one did detonate). The Israeli anti-missile system was not turned on because it was found to interfere with the electronics on Israeli warplanes operating in the vicinity. This is also an increasing problem in modern warfare. There are so many electronic gadgets transmitting, that there are more cases of signals, literally, getting crossed.

The C-802 is a 20 foot long, 360mm, 1,500 pound missile with a 360 pound warhead. The Israeli warship carries electronic defenses against anti-ship missiles, as well as a Phalanx auto-cannon. This systems is supposed to be turned on whenever the ship is likely to have an anti-ship missile fired at it. The Phalanx radar can spot incoming missiles out to about 5,000 meters, and the 20mm cannon is effective out to about 2,000 meters. With incoming missiles moving a 250 meters a second, you can see why Phalanx is set to automatic. There’s not much time for human intervention. The Bangladeshi and Myanmar ships don’t appear to have any missile defenses.
The C-802 needs to work with a radar that can track the target. The C-802 fired in Lebanon apparently used Lebanese government coastal radars for this. The Bangladeshi and Myanmar ships warships have radar on board for this. The C-802 is 30 year old technology, and many of them are quite old. With age comes reliability problems. Bangladesh has many older models of Chinese anti-ship missiles (like the half ton SY-1 Silkworm), and these have been unused for quite some time.

The world is an unstable place right now. We have a naive and ill prepared president. The world sees this and begins to vie for their own places in the new pecking order.

On November 4th, 2008, we witnessed history. On January 20th, 2009, we will again witness history, as on that day Barack Obama, the first African-American president in U.S. history, will be inaugurated. But some have asked: do you need tickets to attend Inauguration Day 2009?
The actual inauguration has traditionally taken place at 12 noon on the official Inauguration Day, which is defined to be January 20th. It takes place at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., with the Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court (John Roberts, in this case) administering the oath of office.
From Martin Van Buren through Jimmy Carter, the ceremony took place on the Capitol’s East Portico; since 1981, the ceremony has been held at the Capitol’s West Front.
Officials have made arrangements to get 30,000 chairs set up on Inauguration Day near the West Front. And its true: you do need a ticket. But an Inauguration Day 2009 ticket will be hard to come by, and hard to counterfeit, at least for now.
In fact, there will be approximately 240,000 Inauguration Day 2009 tickets printed, but officials, due to security reasons, won’t say what they will look like — or even the color. I vote for the color blue, myself. And a tip: no umbrellas, also due to security reasons.
If the general public wants to get their hands on one of these Inauguration Day 2009 tickets, they will have to ask, beg or plead with their senators or Congressional representatives.
Hotels are, of course, going to be booked solid, so if you want to go, besides the begging for tickets, you might need to beg for a room.
History will be made. And there’s no doubt, despite Barack Obama’s famous eloquence, that the most historic words he will say that day, January 20th, 2009, will be:
“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

Rahm Emanuel is widely rumored to be Barack Obama’s choice for White House Chief of Staff. As a Chicagoan, I’ve seen a fair amount of news coverage of this local congressman. The picture that emerges is remarkably consistent: very smart, very substantive, and very partisan – as one person put it, a man with a sharp mind and sharp elbows.
I doubt that Obama could find a more competent chief of staff, someone who would be part administrative director, part policy wonk, and part Karl Rove.
We know a lot about Barack Obama’s agenda, but what about Rahm Emanuel’s? He laid out his “Plan for America” in a 2006 book with Bruce Reed.
Excerpt from Emanuel and Reed’s The Plan/Big Ideas for America:
America has plenty of unfinished business, and all of the reforms we'd like to see — some of which appear in this book — would make for a very long list. But if we're going to turn the country around, we need a bold agenda that can be counted off on one hand:
1. A new social contract — universal citizen service, universal college access, universal retirement savings, and universal children's health care — that makes clear what you can do for your country and what your country can do for you.
2. A return to fiscal responsibility and an end to corporate welfare as we know it.
3. Tax reform to help those who aren't wealthy build wealth.
4. A new strategy to use all America's strengths to win the war on terror.
5. A Hybrid Economy that cuts America's gasoline consumption in half over the next decade.
THE PLAN
A new social contract, or what you can do for your country and what your country can do for you
The economy of the twenty-first century demands new skills and will require all of us to live up to new responsibilities. We believe that four mutual obligations that follow should represent the first terms of a new contract between the people and their country.
Universal Citizen Service
If you forget everything else you read in these pages, please remember this: The Plan starts with you. If your leaders aren't challenging you to do your part, they aren't doing theirs. We need a real Patriot Act that brings out the patriot in all of us by establishing, for the first time, an ethic of universal citizen service.
Universal College Access
We must make a college degree as universal as a high school diploma. More than ever, America's success depends on what we can learn. We have an education system built in the last century, with a school year left over from the century before that. In this new era, college will be the greatest engine of opportunity for our society and our economy. Just as Abraham Lincoln gave land grants to endow our great public universities, we will give the states tuition grants to make college free for those willing to work, serve, and excel.
Universal Retirement Savings
From now on, every job ought to come with a 401(k). An aging society cannot afford to keep saving less and risking more. We need new means to create wealth, based on the needs and responsibilities of twenty-first-century employees and employers. Employers should be required to offer 401(k)s, and workers will be enrolled unless they choose otherwise. If they switch jobs, they can take these accounts with them. When their paycheck goes up, so will their savings. Instead of a work force in which only half the workers have retirement savings plans, every American will have one.
Universal Children's Health Care . . .

The premier component of the new social contract The Plan promotes between citizens and their government is universal citizen service. . . .
John Kennedy was right: A nation is defined not by what it does for its citizens but by what it asks of them. If your leaders aren't challenging you to do your part, they aren't doing theirs. We need a real Patriot Act that brings out the patriot in all of us by establishing for the first time an ethic of universal citizen service. All Americans between the ages of 18 and 25 should be asked to serve their country by going through three months of basic civil defense training and community service. This is not a draft, nor is it military. Young people will be trained not as soldiers, but simply as citizens who understand their responsibilities in the event of a natural disaster, an epidemic or a terrorist attack. Universal citizen service will bring Americans of every background together to make America safer and more united in common purpose.
Chief of staffs don’t set policies, presidents do. Nonetheless, both Obama and Emanuel have proposals to use universal service for young people to remake American society, though their plans differ. If Emanuel ends up running the White House staff, one should expect a universal service proposal that is, at a minimum, competently worked out and well presented.

Michael Crichton Dies Unexpectedly

Michael Crichton, a best-selling author, died in Los Angeles on Tuesday, his public relations firm said in a news release.
He "died unexpectedly," the release said, "after a courageous and private battle against cancer."
Crichton's family told ET,
"While the world knew him as a great storyteller that challenged our preconceived notions about the world around us -- and entertained us all while doing so -- his wife Sherri, daughter Taylor, family and friends knew Michael Crichton as a devoted husband, loving father and generous friend who inspired each of us to strive to see the wonders of our world through new eyes.

U.S Vote .....Obama flips off mccain

MIAMI - The presidential candidates on Monday were capping a history-making campaign with a dash from Florida through a half-dozen other crucial states as John McCain tries for an upset over Barack Obama.
With little sleep, McCain was darting through seven swing states, arguing that victory was virtually at hand despite national polls showing otherwise.
"My friends, it's official: There's just one day left until we take America in a new direction," the Republican Party's choice to succeed President Bush told a raucous, heavily Hispanic rally in Miami just after midnight.
Obama, comfortably ahead in national polls, was getting a later start with a rally in Jacksonville at midday and a swing through longtime GOP bastions that might go to his Democratic Party this time.
It has been the longest and most expensive presidential contest ever — featuring for the first time an African-American as a major party standard-bearer. All told, the election will have cost $1 billion, and the candidates together will have spent about $8 per presidential vote.
Asked in an interview broadcast Monday morning what most displeased him about the nearly 2-year-long contest, Obama cited attacks launched by Republicans against his wife, Michelle.
"There's a Republican or right wing media outlet ... that went after my wife for awhile in a way that I thought was just completely out of bounds," Obama said on CBS's "The Early Show."
"I would have never considered or expected my allies to do something comparable to the spouse of an opponent," he added. "They support their spouse, but generally they really should be bystanders in this process, even if they're campaigning for me. ... I mean that's what you'd expect. And that doesn't make them suddenly targets."
McCain to hit 7 statesMcCain, meanwhile, was struggling to hang onto those and other states that voted for President Bush in 2004 in hopes of preserving a slim path to victory Tuesday night.
The Arizona senator planned a demanding schedule across time zones, beginning early in Tampa and going on to Tennessee, whose media market reaches into Virginia. He was also scheduled to hit Pennsylvania, Indiana, New Mexico and Nevada before ending early Tuesday with a rally in Prescott, Ariz., before returning home to Phoenix.
McCain's running mate, Sarah Palin, was racing through five Bush states — Ohio, Missouri, Iowa, Colorado and Nevada — in an effort to boost conservative turnout. The Alaska governor has been a popular draw for many GOP base voters.
Joe Biden, Obama's running mate, was to campaign in Missouri, Ohio and Pennsylvania.
Polls show the six closest states are Florida, Indiana, Missouri, North Carolina, Nevada and Ohio. The campaigns also are running aggressive ground games elsewhere, including Iowa, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Colorado and Virginia.
More stops on Election DayBreaking with tradition, both candidates planned to campaign on Election Day. McCain scheduled campaign stops in Colorado and New Mexico while Obama was set to make a quick trip to Indiana before returning to Chicago for a massive rally in Grant Park.
Obama exuded confidence Sunday at events in three cities in the bellwether state of Ohio, which voted for President Bush in 2000 and 2004 but is trending Democratic this year as it struggles against an anemic economy.
"We cannot afford to slow down or sit back or let up," Obama told voters at an evening rally in Cincinnati. "We need to win an election on Tuesday."
Urgency in OhioAn e-mail to Obama's Ohio supporters signed by former Vice President Al Gore reminded them that the state was decided by an average of nine voters per precinct in 2004. Gore asked for volunteers in the final two days to keep Obama from losing the state.
McCain was fighting to hold onto Florida's 27 electoral votes while making a play for Pennsylvania and New Hampshire, two states that voted for Democrat John Kerry last time but which McCain's advisers believe could swing to the GOP this year. Polls, however, show Obama comfortably ahead in both places.
In New Hampshire, McCain held his last town hall meeting of the 2008 campaign — something of an exercise in nostalgia, as he conducted dozens of such freewheeling affairs in the months leading up to his victory in that state's primary.
McCain took voter questions on issues like illegal immigration and paying for college while thanking New Hampshire for rescuing his campaign in 2008 and in the 2000 Republican primary, when he briefly upended George W. Bush.
"I come to the people of New Hampshire to ask them to let me go on one more mission," McCain said in Peterborough, where he was introduced by Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling.
In Pennsylvania, the Republican National Committee placed automatic telephone calls, or robocalls, using quotes from Obama's Democratic rival Hillary Rodham Clinton where she criticized Obama during last year's primary season. The New York senator repudiated the calls in a statement.
The Pennsylvania Republican Party was running ads reminding voters of Obama's relationship with his incendiary former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Obama severed ties with Wright after videotapes surfaced showing the pastor making anti-American statements from the pulpit of Chicago's Trinity United Church of Christ, where Obama worshipped for 20 years.
McCain has refused to make Wright a campaign issue but the Pennsylvania GOP said it spoke to Obama's character and judgment.
"Do we want the next President of the United States to have spent years listening to hateful rhetoric without having the good judgment to walk out?" the committee said in a statement on its Web site

You’ve heard about and, you know it’s bad. We hear alarming statistics like “over 90% of personal computers are already compromised by spyware” and “spyware and other potentially unwanted programs are rapidly becoming the number one threat to business systems”. But just what is it?
According to McAfee Inc., the leader in spyware protection solutions:
Spyware is any software whose function includes the transmission of company or personal information to a third party without their knowledge. The consequences of undetected spyware and other potentially unwanted programs (PUPs) could include identity theft, system and network corruption, slower Internet access, reduced system productivity, and an increased number of pop-up ads.
To put it another way, spyware on your computer can send out to another computer, and ultimately another person, anything and everything on your computer and everything you do on your computer.
A better but much longer (and my personal favorite) definition of spyware comes from geekpatroloncall.com. They define spyware as:
Spyware is potentially more dangerous beast than Adware because it can record your keystrokes, history, passwords, and other confidential and private information. Spyware is often sold as a spouse monitor, child monitor, a surveillance tool or simply as a tool to spy on users to gain unauthorized access. Spyware is also known as: snoopware, PC surveillance, key logger, system recorders, Parental control software, PC recorder, Detective software and Internet monitoring software.
Spyware covertly gathers user information and activity without the user's knowledge. In August 2007, national disasters like the Crandall Canyon and Sago Mine cave-ins, and the collapse of a highly-trafficked Minnesota bridge, reminded Americans that miners, construction crews and rescue workers face the daily risk of injury and death as they work to improve our agriculture and highways.

Coal mining industry fatalities more than doubled in 2006 and fatal highway incidents remained the most frequent type of fatal work-related event.

It’s these folks, among others like farmers, pilots and truck drivers, who are dying to work – literally.

The chance of an average worker sustaining a fatal work injury is slim – there were just 3.9 fatal occupational injuries per 100,000 workers in the United States in 2006, according to the most recent figures from the U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). There were 5,703 overall work-related fatalities in 2006.

For workers in industries like mining, construction and agriculture, the odds weren’t quite as good – agriculture workers saw 29.6 fatalities per 100,000 workers in 2006, while miners saw 27.8 fatalities per 100,000. Additionally, construction and extraction occupations and transportation and material moving occupations accounted for nearly half (48 percent) of all fatal work injuries in 2006.

Harmful work environments

Some fatal workplace injuries occurred not because of a bad fall or contact with objects or equipment, but were inflicted by workers themselves, other people or harmful environmental exposure.

A total of 516 workplace homicides were recorded in 2006, which included 417 shootings and 38 stabbings in the workplace. Workplace suicides caused another 199 fatalities.

Fifty-three workers died after exposure to temperature extremes; 153 fatalities were the result of inhalation of caustic, noxious or allergenic substances and contributed to a 12 percent increase in fatal work injuries.

Dangerous industries

Of the 5,703 total fatal work injuries in 2006, 5,202 (or 91 percent) occurred in private industry. Service-providing industries (including, but not limited to trade, transportation and utilities) accounted for 47 percent of fatal injuries, while goods-producing industries (including, but not limited to natural resources and mining, construction and manufacturing) comprised 44 percent. Government workers made up another 9 percent.
