Ranking of elimination feasibility between malaria-endemic countries

The feasibility of eliminating malaria differs among countries because of differences in the technical challenges, measured in terms of malaria endemicity and importation rate, and operational capabilities, measured in terms of government stability and effectiveness, quality and development of health systems, and factors associated with the population at risk. The forty circles graphically represent a relative ranking of operational feasibility for eliminating P. falciparum malaria.

This infographic shows the burden of antibiotic resistance in the the one million children who die within the first four weeks of life each year in India. Of these deaths, approximately 190,000 are caused by sepsis, a bacterial infection that overwhelms the bloodstream. It's estimated that nearly one-third of these sepsis deaths are attributable to antibiotic resistance.

This visualization relates the population-adjusted state mortality from Clostridium difficile, a serious gastrointestinal infection usually caused by broad–spectrum antibiotic use, with outpatient prescribing rates of oral vancomycin, a preferred treatment for acute cases of C. difficile infections. Between 2000 and 2007 there is a striking increase in C. difficile-associated mortality, from 0.42 to 2.15 deaths per 100,000 population.
