How to draw an Easy Cartoon Elephant

Learn how to draw an easy cartoon Elephant and you will have a cartoon character that people will never forget.

This elephant is the pride and joy of the Big Top Circus so much so that his name is Big Top. Sadly though, shows have been cancelled recently due to his extreme peanut addiction. His twelve step program includes apologizing to all of the children he has stolen peanuts from in the past.

Here we have a picture of Big Top about to fall of the peanut wagon.

Step 1: Sketch a Plump Elephant Body

Make a big oval for the body with a circular shape for the head. At the bottom of the head make a sharp point for the mouth.

Now draw a little tail on the behind that looks kind of like a candle with a flame.

Step 2: Draw Elephant Legs

Draw legs underneath, curving down and in. Three little bumps for toes, a couple of horizontally curved lines to show the saggy knees.

Remember the legs in the background don't need all sides drawn and should appear slightly shorter to give depth.

Step 3: Draw an Elephant Face

For the eyes, draw two ovals side-by-side with the left eye overlapping the right. Draw two pupils in the bottom center of the eyes.

For the trunk, start at the bottom right eye and draw the line curved round to the end of the trunk. Draw the end of the trunk like a big lips that are able to open and close. Finish the trunk up to where the top of the mouth will sit.

The mouth will include the point created at the bottom of the head.

The ears come out the sides of the head and look very similar to wings.

Step 4: Erase Overlapping Lines

Erase all the overlapping lines that may be left. Take note around the legs and the face.

Ensure that the forehead and the trunk are in front of the right ear by erasing the line of the body that overlaps the head and erase the line of the head that overlaps the trunk area.

Step 5: Colour Your Cartoon Elephant

Elephants are usually gray but you of course can colour it any colour you want. Feel free to change some of the features to make him your own.

How to Draw an Easy Cartoon Horse

Learn how to draw a cartoon horse and you'll have a sweet ride--off a cliff?

This stallion is living on the edge. Spooked by even his own shadow, this horse seems to be always running and always getting in even more precarious positions by doing so.

Horses can be a little tricky to draw. Their legs are very complicated; but the great thing with cartoons is that we can simplify it as much as we want!

Note this horse's legs are nearly straight making the nightmare of drawing horses an easy trot.

Step 1: Sketch the Horses Body Outline

Draw an ovular shape for your horses body. The chest should go in towards where the legs will be.

Then the head should look like a really bad outline of a 6-shooter. The horse's muzzle should be slanted downwards.

Step 2: Draw Stick Legs and a tail.

Draw four legs coming from the body slanted with the feet towards the front. The Hooves on this particular horse look a lot like the feet from a human.

Draw the tail from the back with the hair at the end splitting at the end to give it a more frazzled look.

Step 3: Draw a Cartoon Horse Head

Draw a couple tilted ovular eyes that are close together with two small perfect circles for the pupils.

Add a quick rounded line for the muzzle with two tilted ovals as the nostrils.

The teeth can be boxy for the teeth and extend the jaw from the jowls. The main can be either rounded or you can make spikes coming out to show the horror the horse is feeling about almost falling off the cliff.

The ears just need to be two nice triangles.

Step 4: Erase Overlapping Lines

The overlapping lines should Just be near the jowls where the jaw and head connect and the legs. Once you erase the lines you should be ready to color in your cartoon horse!

Step 5: Colour Your Cartoon Horse

Cartoon horses as well as real horse can be a multitude of colours, it's up to you to decide how to style him.

I chose simple browns to illustrate, but let yourself go wild and add in whatever you'd like!

How to Draw an Easy Cartoon Dinosaur: T-Rex

The great and terrible Tyrannosaurus Rex can be a fun lovable pal in cartoons. Learn how to draw an easy cartoon T-Rex and you'll have the coolest most dangerous pal ever.

This T-Rex is fairly simple, hope you'll enjoy this drawing tutorial so you'll be able to create your own goofy dinosaur character.

Step 1: Draw a Jurassic Outline

The shapes on the T-Rex I'm making aren't your standard simple shapes. If you find it too hard to draw these shapes, draw the closest shape to it (like the head as an oval) and then draw the shapes I've given you using the simple shapes as a guide.

The Tyrannosaurus' body is about twice the size of the head.

Step 2: Give Your T-Rex some Feet

Draw in the T-Rex's feet and give him some sharp claws and have his legs come to nearly a v-shape from the body to the ankle.

Step 3: Sketch a Head

Draw in a big mouth and sharp squiggles for teeth. Two ovals for eyes with an oval in each for the pupils. Draw two arches over the eyes to give the effect that the eyes are still in his head.

Throw in two little ovals for the nostrils.

Step 4: TRex Tummy and Arms

T-Rex arms are very small, give him little arms with small pointy fingers hanging down

Give him a tummy tag to break up the monotony of the body shape.

Step 5: Erase Lines and Colour Your Cartoon Dinosaur

Erase the overlapping lines and colour in your Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Sexy Cartoon Woman Flirts at the Bar

Cartoon women come in many shapes and sizes, but we usually like the super-attractive ones as main characters.

Here is my cartoon version of my partner Cyndi. This cartoon version of her is also an example of caricature. Cyndi is a tall beautiful woman with a long neck, long legs, long blond hair and huge hips.

Now it isn't caricatured as well as it would be if it were meant to be a full caricature, the hips would be wider, the bum would stick out way more, and the neck would be much longer.

Cyndi is a fun seductive character with a wee bit of zaniness. In this scene we have the cartoon woman, Cyndi, flirting with the cartoon man, Coady.

How to Draw a Cartoon Woman Step-By-Step

Step 1: Basic Womanly Outline

The Body follows the S-Curve

The first thing I did was draw a sexy S-Shaped line to follow the woman's outline. This provides a good guide on how the body will flow when the drawing is done.

Draw a head with a nose and a little dip for the chin.

The torso should be be leaning with the top to the left and the bottom to the right.

The dress should show bigger hips and get really small by the bottom. This accentuates the womanly curves.

Step 2: Draw Woman Hands, Boots, Neck and Boobs

Cartoon women's hands are very petite. The fingers should seem pointy.

Draw pointy fingers on her hips with the right side being a little higher than the left to give better looking body mechanics.

Draw the neck coming down from the head and give her a little line indicating boob cleavage.

The boots' heals should just be little points. Note that the left boot's toe is to the ground showing that her leg is lifted a little bit to add to the girly flirtatiousness.

Step 3: Draw Woman Arms

Draw the arms coming out from the shoulders and have them bend at nearly a 90-degree angle. It'll give it the effect of lots of power behind the pose and distribute the weight evenly.

Have the back part of the shirt coming down the back, like she flung it back to show hers goods to Coady who is sitting at the bar.

Step 4: Draw Hair

Draw the hair around the scalp area of the head. Have the solid pointed clumps (for lack of a better word) pointing down to represent the bangs.

*Note the dip in the middle of the hair to show where the bangs start.

Step 5: Draw Women's Eyes

You can only see one eye at this angle because she's turned her head so you can only see the profile of her face. So just draw one tilted oval for her eye. Draw eye lashes coming through the center but make sure it's curved.

Usually cartoons require the full circles in the eye to look "right". But in this pose of womanly charm, it requires a more sultry look. This means that only partial circles are necessary. Two curved lines connecting the eye lid and the bottom of the eye to make the iris and the pupil.

Draw an eyebrow up top and curve it in towards the front of the face. Sexy women always have small eyebrows and they should be perfectly made.

Step 6: Draw Ears and mouth

Draw a half circle for the ear and a full circle (or really whatever shape you'd like) for the earring.

Cartoon women have full sexy lips, especially when they are flirting. The top lip should be slightly larger and past the bottom lip. The bottom lip can be add on after you've completed the perfect top lip.

Step 7: Draw a Pony Tail

Now, sketch out a long s-curved pony-tail. Exaggerate it, and make it long. This is a fun thing to be able to do with cartoons.

Step 8: Erase Overlapping Lines

Now everything should be all set to erase the overlapping line and to smooth out your drawing to get it ready for colouring.

Take a look over your creation. Feel free to mod it if you wish it to look like someone you know to be able to give them a cool cartoon present. (Just make sure you credit me with the help ;) )

Step 9: Color in your Cartoon Woman

Now you are free to choose your own colours, but I chose the ones specifically to match one of my favorite outfits she wears. Also, the color of skin and eyes reflect that of my partners.

When you create a cartoon woman, make sure it's flattering to her or you may get a good slap in the face!

How to Draw Cartoon People: Cartoon Man

Learn How to Draw a Cartoon Man and you'll have a plethora of characters at your disposal.

This character is the one I use when I make animations about me--coadytnp. So, it's somewhat of a caricature of some of my most prominent features, blue eyes, chin strap beard, awkward long hair bordering on a mullet and a big goofy perma-smile. Average body shape with overly plain clothes.

Probably not a description you'd want to write on a dating site, but definitely works ok for a cartoon character.

This tutorial will have a few more steps than the previous tutorials, so you may want to take more time looking at it and studying the some of the ways to draw cartoon people.

Step 1: Draw the Basic Outline

First draw the head. It should be a little flat on one side and roundish on the back. The bottom of the oval should be flat and pointing upwards to show confidence.

The core (shoulders to the bottom of the stomach) should be about one head tall. The shoulders should be sloped down but with straight lines, the lines coming down from them should be slightly curved with the chests curve coming out and then the stomach coming in. The back line should be straight with barely any curve. This gives Coadytnp a look like he's standing up straight and confident without giving him too much of a muscular look.

The feet should be about a head length away from the torso. The hands should be at his side.

Step 2: Draw Arms and Legs

Draw the neck connecting from the head to the torso, with it coming to a v-shape tilted to your left. Draw the arms with the front arm having a break at elbow. Sketch in some quick lines for finger. Note that the forearm is a straight line on the outside, and a line that's curved on the inside of the arm to show the definition of the forearm.

The legs start in small from the waste and get slightly longer towards the feet, as if Coadytnp is wearing bell-bottoms. This creates a quirky style. Slick and yet goofy, helping define the character in his looks.

Step 3: How to Draw Cartoon Eyes

Draw big ovals for eyes with a crescent shape at the bottom. Two full circles for the eyes and should be touching the middle of the crescent. Another crescent should be drawn at the top of the iris'. Draw two happy looking eyebrows above the eyes.

Note that one eye is smaller than the other showing that one is a little farther away.

Draw the ear on the side of the head.

Step 4: Draw a Mouth and Beard

Draw the beard following the jaw line from the front of the ear to the square of the back of the jaw to the front.

Sketch the top lip going a little past the edge of the face. This adds a little more goofiness to the look.

Draw a large smile where the point of it goes up slightly past the eye line.

Step 5: Draw Nose and Glasses

You need a nose to hold you your glasses, you know? Draw a tiny nose that slightly overlaps the top lip. It doesn't matter too much if it's curve or pointy at the end.

Draw in the glasses. Note the perspective lines on the glasses where the op on them tilts down from right to left, while the bottom on the glasses tilt up from left to right. This gives a sense of depth to the face.

Step 6: Draw Cartoon Hair

Cartoon hair is often stiff. Keep this in mind when drawing the hair. The little spikes in the front are made with straight and slightly (but still stiff looking) curves.

Make the part below the ears point towards the top right. It gives the look a little more goofiness and some energy behind it.

Step 7: Erase Overlapping Lines

Erase all the overlapping lines particularly the back arm, and neck and skull. The hands will need some erasing too. Your basic outline should look something like this after you're finished erasing.

Step 8: Colour in Your Canadian Comrade

Use a peachish colour for the skin, and the rest is yours to play with. To create your own characters play around with the size of the eyes and nose and hairstyle. Give your own character different clothes and experiment a bit. Feel free to add a link in the comments to show me what you made!

How to Draw an Easy Cartoon Truck

So get yourself in gear, pick up your pencil/pen and get ready to sketch this simple truck.

How to Draw an Easy Cartoon Truck

Step 1: Build the Truck Body

Sketch a simple rectangle for the main body of the cartoon truck. On top of that add a square but with the front slanted towards the front where the windshield would be.

Step 2: Draw the Truck Wheels and Door

Draw two circles. The front wheel should start just past an imaginary line down where the windshield would meet the main body of the truck. The back wheel should be in the center of the box of the truck (where you'd load in wood, or gear or whatever you want). Now add circles in those to add the hubcaps. The door should be rectangular but follow the windshield slant. The window inside the door should do the same. Add a little rectangle for the door handle.

Step 3: Add Some Truck Lights & Bumpers

Add lights to the front and back with simple small rectangles. Add a long rectangle under the door to make the running board. Add a little bump in the front and back as the bumpers.

Step 4: Erase Lines and Add Details

Erase the overlapping lines of the wheels and the lines between the body of the truck and the top of the cab. Add a couple of curved lines above the wheels and a straight slightly tilted towards the back vertical line for the aerial so the truck can catch a good radio heehaw!

Step 5: Colour your Cartoon Truck

Colour in your cartoon truck any colour you want, and away you go! You've learned how to draw an easy cartoon truck step-by-step!

How to Draw a Cartoon Monkey

You'll go bananas when you learn how to draw cartoon monkeys! Cartoon Monkeys are great characters because they are so easy to give character to.

This little guy is off on some adventure swinging on a vine with a little snack to eat along the way.

Step 1: Draw the Monkey's Outline

Sketch a circle for the head. Add the face outline to make it look like there are two cheeks on either side of his face. Draw a little banana shape for the body that's about a head and a half long and add a tail on the back.

Step 2: Draw the Monkey's Arms & Legs

His legs should both be swung back and a little bent. The feet are ovular with three quick lines for the toes.

Draw a circle for the hand at his waste and connect it to his shoulder area. The other arm should be extended ahead of him.

Draw the vine about a head width ahead of him curving like a bow. Have your monkeys fingers drawn around the vine.

Step 3: Draw a Cartoon Monkey Face

Cartoon Monkey faces have a lot of character. Because in real life they are so similar to human faces, it comes pretty easy to infuse them with lots of personality.

Draw the eyes slightly overlapping. and two nice circles for the pupils. Monkey mouths and noses stick out, but since he's making a confused face, I pulled the mouth towards the center and made it a simple circle. The nose is just an arch with two little circles. Draw in two eye brows. One should be straight and pointing down and the other curved.

The ears are essentially circles and the hair on top of his head should be pushed back showing movement through the air's effect. Also draw three little spikes in back to show a little shagginess.

Step 4: Draw Movement Lines

Movement lines are imaginary lines drawn in cartoons to show movement. You don't have to draw a lot of them as you can see.

So I just added three lines behind his head and feet, and then a few at the end of the vine.

Step 5: Colour Your Cartoon Monkey

Cartoon Monkeys are usually a couple shades of brown, with the lighter color on the face, hands and feet. Ears are usually pinkish and, of course, vines are usually green.

Now that you know how to draw a cartoon monkey, you'll have a goofy pet to play around with. Go Bananas!

How to Draw a Cartoon Bat Step by Step

Cartoon bats are fun little characters. I decided to go with an emo bat. Batty gets down on himself sometimes, but that doesn't mean he's just as special as everyone else. Learn how to draw this cartoon bat, and people will go batty over your drawings.

I decided to name this character Batty. Yeah, I know, not very original, but I think the character himself holds his own. Batty is a shy, lonely, bat, and doesn't understand why no one likes him. He's flying home to his bat cave to go and contemplate just how awful his life is.

Poor Batty. What he seems to ignore is how all the girls adore him.

Step 1: Draw the Bat's Outline

Sketch in a head that's a little flat on the top and comes to a soft point at the chin. Make sure you add little bumps on the side about mid-way down for his cheeks.

The body should look a little like a bean and overlap the head.

Step 2: Draw Bat Legs

Sketch in the legs below with four toes on each foot. Draw sharp little toenails on the end. Bats usually have their legs a little spread apart and back as far as they can go when they are flying, but this little guy isn't like the others. He's keeping his legs down, kind of droopy like they are sad.

Step 3: Draw Bat Wings

Bat wings are pretty particular. I'd suggest drawing the bone structure first. They end of the wing are like our hands and each offshoot of the wing like a finger. Keep this in mind as you set it up.

On the left wing, add three "fingers" to the wing, on the other just make it look like two arches. When you've done this, sketch out the wings to make them look like they are attached to the ends on each finger.

Step 4: Draw a Bat Head

Now to add some personality to your cartoon character by drawing in the details of his face. Bat ears are shaped similar to the wings in that they have sharp points facing down. Add a curved line in the middle of the ear to separate the inner ear from the outer.

Sketch in two circles for the eyes just above the center horizontally and towards the right side of his face. Add in a small triangle for the nose below the eyes and it should be a bit close to the right eye to show depth.

Add in a mouth below the nose. The smile point should be facing down to show he's sad. Add in little vampire teeth and a cute little tongue.

Sketch in the hair so that it goes over one eye.

Now erase all your overlapping lines and you're ready to give him some colour.

Step 5: Colour your Cartoon Bat

Bats are generally dark, usually greys or blacks.

I added a dark red for the bones and a darker gray for the body. The legs and face are lighter grays but the inside of Batty's ear and his toenails are darker than the body.

I gave our cartoon bat some red eyes to show that there is something different about their eyes (they can't see very well) and I added an off white for the hair. Emo's style tend to be black hair, but since bats are usually black, I figured I'd add something different.

Now that you've learned how to draw a cartoon bat, you'll have a great character for your scary comics!

How to Draw a Cartoon Dinosaur (Brontosaurus)

Ok, maybe it should be called how to draw an Apatosaurus which is the new technical name for the dinosaur I'm drawing, but I grew up with the Brontosaurus.

A cool fact: One of the first popular cartoon characters was a Brontosaurus named Gertie. I have the video embedded at the bottom of this tutorial along with an even simpler brontosaurus I made for animation on GoAnimate.com.

The great thing about Dinosaurs is that we don't really know what they look like beyond their skeleton, which gives you tons of flexibility on how you colour him, and what kind of extras you add. I'll be giving you a pretty plain version so that you can build upon him.

Step 1: Basic Brontosaurus Outline

Draw a small ovular head and a larger body. You should be able to fit about two head spaces between the actual head and the body. Draw a tail with it curving up at the end.

Step 2: Legs and Neck

Connect the neck with the body using two curvy lines like a slide. Draw in the legs and toenails. Notice in the circle for the head I'd added a little angled line in the upper left. The is giving a little more definition to the face.

Step 3: Dinosaur Under Belly

Cartoon dinosaurs will often have two different colours separating its upper and lower halves. Draw this on the tail, the stomach, and the neck. Now when I was drawing this I wanted the snout to be a little more pronounced, so I extended it beyond the circle. Also note that there is a sharp bump on the top left of the muzzle; this is for the eyes. And on the right side there is a round extension as the cheek. It helps to show emotions like a big smile in this case.

Step 4: Draw The Brontosaurus Face

Erase all the overlapping lines. Make sure the Brontosaurus' belly isn't overlapping his front leg, and that the front leg in the background isn't crossing over the belly.

Now that you have a clean dinosaur shape, draw in the face. A simple line for the smile is fine. Oval eyes with the eyelid crossing over top. With the eyebrows I have one a little off the head. This head add a little cartoon style to him, and allows some more flexibility with what to do with him.

Notice I added the nostrils on his head. This is anatomically correct for an Apatosaurus, but since he's a cartoon you can add them on the muzzle if you'd like. I decided to go with adding them on the top of the head because I've never seen a cartoon Bronto with one before.

Step 5: Colour Your Dinosaur

Again, the beauty of cartoon dinosaurs is that we have little clue what colour they actually were. So, you get to choose from a plethora of palettes. Generally dinosaurs are coloured in greens and browns to make them look more like modern day reptiles, but we really don't know. So add whatever you'd like! Generally the bottom half is coloured a lighter colour than the top. Add spots or stripes or whatever you'd like.

Gertie the Dinosaur by Winsor McCay released in 1914 was one of the first animated short films and the first to use keyframing. McCay hand drew thousands of frames with Gertie on rice paper and hired John A. Fitzsimmons, his neighbor, to do the backgrounds

Gideon's Dinosaur Tree by CoadyTNP. The Brontosaurus in this one, Gert, was inspired by Gertie the dinosaur. This was my first attempt at animating a dinosaur. Hope you enjoy!

How to Draw a Shark

Cartoon Sharks are tough guys and almost always bad. Learn how to draw an easy cartoon shark and you'll have a great bad guy to help make your terrifying underwater adventure.

This guy is scary and the little fish knows his fate is about to sit in the belly of this shark.

Step 1: Draw the Shark's Outline

The shark's body should be thicker in the middle of the head and come to a point at the nose. Note the bottom juts out the bottom a little. Towards the tail the shark's body gets skinnier and then the tail has two sharp points at the top and bottom.

Step 2: Draw the Sharks Finns

The shark's fins are stiff--to the point of almost looking sharp. His dorsal fin is strong and has lots of arch towards the peak and then curves in on the backside.

Give him a nice smile in the bottom section of the body.

Step 3: Draw the Shark's Face

Give him some mean eyes. Have a straighter line on the top coming down to a sharp point. This makes it look like his eyelids. Draw a little circle towards the point inside the eye.

Now give him some rugged sharp teeth. Make them uneven. This gives him a more rugged look and has changed him into a soft happy looking fish to a mean, terrifying shark.

Step 4: Erase the Overlapping Lines

If you don't plan on colouring him black, this is the time to erase the overlapping lines on the fins.

Step 5: Colour Your Cartoon Shark

Sharks are often either black or blueish gray with a white belly, but of course it's your call on how to colour him in. It's really the beauty of cartoons--you get the choice when you design your own!

I coloured his eyes yellow and his pupils red to give him an extra evil look. I also lightly coloured his teeth yellow. Bad guys don't brush their teeth right?

Learn How to Draw a Prize-winning Pig Step-by-Step

Learn how to draw Farmer Jim's Prize-winning pig, Plumpy. This porky pig has great form, plump body and a friendly demeanor. No wonder he won at the Fairfield Family Fair. Look how proud he is.

What our pig friend doesn't realize is the winner becomes a pork-chop feasts for the fair patrons.

Step 1: Draw a Cartoon Pig's Cartoon Body

Draw a circle or half-moon for the body and a circle that gets a little flat on the top and bottom for the head. Make the bottom of the head a little wider to make it look like he has chubby cheeks.

Step 2: Draw the Cartoon Pig's Face

Start drawing the top of the nose just below the center of the face and to the right of the vertical axis. Make it a tilted circle. Draw two ovals and have them lean in opposite directions away from each other. Draw in the eyes. The should be touching each other. Notice the smile line on the bottom of the eye. this should arch. Draw in arches for the eye lids as well. I made one higher than the other. Draw in a little line between the eyes to give the snout a little dimension.

Draw the ears slightly pointy facing outward on either side. The left one should overlap the head to show it's in the front, while the right ear shouldn't overlap at all. I drew the eyebrows to show a little confidence-- like he's saying "look at me now! I'm #1".

Step 3: Draw Pig's Tail and Legs

Draw in the two front legs first. The left leg should overlap the body and the right one shouldn't at all. The leg in behind should just be a couple lines to show the foot and the back left one should be very similar to the front right leg.

Draw a little curly tail in the back. I recommend starting from the end of the tail and curling it in.

Step 4: Sketch in the Details

Sketch in the tie and the 1st place ribbon. I have the tie over top of the medal. So draw the tie first, and then draw the medal as a half moon. Also, draw the tie coming from under the pigs face to show his head extends past the ribbon.

Step 5: Colour your Cartoon Pig

Colour in your pig with pinks. You can make the end of the snout darker or lighter, it doesn't matter that much as long as it's pinkish, it's good. But hey, you can choose any colour you want, because it's a cartoon.

Cartoon Cars are quirky looking vehicles. Learn how to draw a cartoon car and you'll be able to travel in style.

Cartoon can be pretty simple or massively complex, but we'll make this lesson a Sunday Drive.

Step 1 Draw the Body of the Car

Cars body's are pretty simple. A long rectangle a shorter one on top and two circles for the wheels. I add some curves to it to make it look a bit smoother.

Step 2: Car Door, Lights and Hub Caps

Add a door. Notice how the door curves around the wheels a little. Draw the lights on the front and back. and two more circles inside the wheel as the hub caps.

Step 3: Car Windows, Bumbers and Steps

Inside the top lines of the door and the rectangle of the body draw a window. The back window should be right above the same border of both rectangles. Notice how the back window angles in.
Draw the front and back bumpers, and I added a little step below the door.
Add a door handle so your cartoon characters can get in.

Step 4: Car Rear-view mirror, mufflerm grill and Antenna

Add in the little details like muffler, a mirror, a grill and an antenna and you're done your drawing, now to colouring.

Step 5: Colour your Cartoon Car

Add some colour, go crazy with it. I just added some simple colours. But deck out your car with whatever designs you want!

How to Draw a Cute Cartoon Baby Step-by-Step

Cartoon babies are always getting into trouble. This little tike is no different. "Look at all those scribbles on the wall, mister!"

Looks like Daddy or Mummy may have some scrubbing to do.

Step 1: Draw your babies outline

Babies' heads are about as big as their body--but don't tell junior, he's self conscious...

A lot of times babies' heads will be exaggerated even more. It makes them seem even more unsteady, and making for even more cartoon craziness.

The head almost looks like a gas mask in the outline, we'll be adding more chubby features soon. Add two big oval eyes and a circle for the soother.

The body should look a little bit like a squashed bean. Make it look like his belly is stick out a little. When babies walk, they tend to let their belly weight propel them forward.

Step 2: Connect the limbs

Babies are such cute chubby creatures. Show it in the way you draw the arms and legs. I drew his legs in two ovalish sections that overlap. Baby fat rolls on top the legs. Keep that in mind.

Also, add a chubby cheek out the left side. and give him a tiny nose.

Step 3: Sketch in some Baby Accessories

Erase the overlapping lines.

Baby needs a diaper. We can't just have him pee-pee and poo-pooing everywhere. Sketch the diaper starting from just before the end of the left side to the right side. Make the diaper curve down to the crotch and back up. The diaper should look bunchy, so no straight lines.

Add in the pupils, and the soother handle. Remember to erase the overlapping lines of the legs.

And now you should have a complete outline of your cute cartoon baby. But he's not done yet.

Step 4: Sketch in the Details

Now to give the baby some character.

Add a little bit of hair to the top of his head. A couple of small lines for the eyebrows. and a little ear on the side of the head. All these help beak up the space on that cute widdle head.

To break up the chest and belly (and conveniently to add realism) add two nipples and a belly button. Draw in a couple lines for the toes (Cartoon babies don't have as many as real life ones usually do).

Draw in some crayons and let your baby do some drawing too!
Optionally, you can draw toys in his hand, or whatever you'd like.

How to Draw a Cartoon Lion Step-by-Step

If you'd say this is an ideal King of the Jungle you'd be lion. <--bad pun.

Learn how to draw a cartoon lion and you'll be king of cartoon-land. Lions are brave warrior-like and... well, a little lazy. When King Leonard's subjects demand more services and less taxes, the King of the Jungle become a scaredy-cat.

This cooky character may be challenging for beginners, but muster up the courage and brave your way to making a wonderful cartoon character.

Step 1: Sketch your Lion's Outline

The head should look like a skull with two ovals in the center.

The body is an irregular shape but you could always add a small circle for the bum and a large oval for the chest. and then connect them with a drooping line at the top.

Add an oddly shaped small rectangle for the end of the tail. Then add in the feet. The front feet and the back feet need to line up on a slant to make it look like the feet are actually behind the lion.

Step 2: Add Leg's to Your Lion

To make King Leonard look more goofy, give him some awkward looking legs. and attach them to the body.

Connect the derriere to the end of the tail with an arc. This also adds to the goofy drama our lion king is going through. It looks kind of like a bell ringing mirroring the ringing that must be going through his ears.

Step 3: The Mane Thing

Crown Optional

Add in the Mane behind the head. This is a unique feature to the male lion, a lioness lacks this. Sketch in the lion's mane over the skull and outside the skull.

Draw in the muzzle like the top half of a heart, but upside-down. The bottom part of the mouth put at an angle. Lion's have what looks like an under-bite, and their mouths always seem to open to the side. With out lion going crazy, it's even better reason to offset this.

The top of the nose should be in line with the top of the muzzle. The nose should look like a diamond with no sharp corners.

Step 4: Sketch in the Details

Sketch in the eyebrows around the hairline at an angle.

Add in four goofy looking teeth with the tongue hanging out behind them.

The Lion's Tummy tag should come in from the bottom and curve up the chest. Even though this lion has lost a lot of his roar, he's still got that lionly chest.

On each of the paws add in lines to show his claws.

Colour in your Cartoon Lion

His Majesty's crown is royal purple. The Mane should be a very light brownish orange and the body is a khaki colour. The tummy tag should be a slightly lighter banana-like colour.

When his Royalty is complete you should have something that looks similar to this crazy-kitty.

Step 1: Draw the Turtle's Outline

Sketch the turtle's shell. It should look like a soldier's helmet. The tail should be a soft triangle having all the lines slightly curved.

I gave the option to draw the head as a circle and then attach it to the body or if you can manage just draw it free hand. The turtle is looking down which means the neck should be above the head.

Near the center right of the head draw two circles next to each other, the one farthest to the right should be a tad below the other.

Draw in big round eyes and a dopey smiling mouth. The left eye is a circle, but the right eye is a little ovular. The makes a little perspective and adds a little depth to the drawing.

Step 3: Give your Cartoon Turtle Some Legs

Add a line across the eyes to
give him a dopey/sleepy look.

Draw in four legs under the turtle's shell. I've made them go through the shell just to give you an idea of where and why the legs are placed where they are.

When drawing them remember that two legs are in our line of sight, while the other two will be hidden partially by the first mentioned legs.

The legs can be drawn as two soft rectangles. Bend your lines a smidgen.

Step 4: Shell out the Details

I've used 5-sided shapes for the shell,
but experiment and see what you like best.

Erase the overlapping lines. Make sure the background legs (or the one's farthest from us) aren't overlapping the foreground legs (the more visible one's).

Turtle's shells have unique marks. The convention is to draw angular marks on the shell, usually five-sided shapes. Draw them so they don't touch, but looks like a puzzle that for some reason can't quite be put together.

Draw in the toes on the front of where the feet would be.

Step 5: Colour your Cartoon Turtle

Colour in your turtle with colours that appeal to you.

I used various greens and brown. Make the shell a darker green and the shapes should be brownish or a different colour of green. The outline of the shapes I used a darker brownish-red.

When you're drawing a turtle from an angle more in line with the turtle you can add a yellow belly bellow the shell.

I made the turtle's toenails yellow, to add a little variety of colour.

When colouring in the eyes, leave little spots of white to add a bit of shine. This makes the character look a bit cuter and more lovable--and less like a zombie...

Follow the instructions below to learn how to draw this simple cartoon penguin.

Step 1: Draw a Basic Outline

Sketch the basic outline of the Cartoon Penguin. He'll kind of look like a ghost tilted to the left; as if looking up.

Draw two ovals near the top right for the eyes.

Step 2: Beak and Flippers

Draw in a little pointy beak and flippers. Add a little curve to the flippers so they don't look too stiff.

The beak should look like an ice cream cone.

Step 3: Feet and Pupils

Add in some feet at the bottom with three webbed toes.

Add the pupils in toward the top right of the eyes. Make the pupils round to give him an innocent look.

Step 4: Sharpen Your Cartoon Penguin

Add a little smile and then erase the overlapping lines. This won't really be a problem if you're just colouring the body black. If you're using a vector program to draw try using white lines for the wings.

The colouring is usually pretty simple for these antarctic birds--simply, black body with a white tummy. The tummy tag goes right to the bottom of the penguin. The beak and feet are usually yellow or orange and occasionally there is an additional colour on the beak itself.

Meet Chuck. This little rodent is an ever-friendly beaver who is a hard worker. This little guy may seem friendly and gentle (which he is) but you don't want to mess with his home or else (he'll chuck a stick at you?)...

Add this guy to your drawing repertoire and you'll be able to dam rivers in a breeze.

Step 1: Draw Basic Beaver Shapes

Draw an oval head with a dull point out to one side. Draw a pear-shaped body that is about one and a half heads long.

Get in a massive tail in the behind.

Use just basic shapes for the hands so you can fill them in after.

Notice how close the beaver's feet are to his body. They don't have very long legs.

Step 2: Connect the Limbs

Connect the Body to the feet. The legs should be a little bent to show how he bares his weight.

Add a little bend to his arms. All the slight bends in the limbs show that the beaver isn't a completely stiff character and adds a little style.

Now draw a muzzle that overlaps the edge of the face and goes just a bit over the horizontal center of the face.

Now I drew his eyes a lot further apart than I usually do with characters, I figured this would give him a more mature look. Of course, feel free to add the eyes closer together.

If you use a flash program, this will be easy to change.

And remember to add the cute little ears up top. It's kind of the way you'd draw a Bear's ears, but I tend to narrow them a bit more as the ear gets closer to the head.

Step 3: Sketched out Beaver

Fill in your hands. Make sure you draw the hand in the background (the left hand to you) is draw an oval with a bump or two on the left outside of the hand. You see with the right hand how the basic shape helps direct how to draw correct shape to make it look like he's either waving, or tell you to halt...

Add a tummy mark to break up the monotony of a solid belly.

Fill in the muzzle. The nose a soft diamond shape. The smile itself is pretty standard, but you need to get in the big buck teeth (incisors) common to rodents.

Draw in some round pupils and then some quick lines to show the inside of the ears.

Step 4: Add in the Details

Remember to erase the overlapping lines (if you haven't already), Add the stick into his background hand and in the fore hand add a little pad to his hand.

Add some eye brows to give him an alert happy look.

Give him a couple of strands of hair on top of his head. Actual beavers look kinda fuzzy, but we need to simplify him to make him a bit easier to replicate.

Add a shag line to the side of his face. In cartoons, a lot fo the time you only need to add a couple lines to give the message that the fur is shaggy or bristly.

Step 5: Colour Your Cartoon Beaver

Beavers are almost always a couple shades of brown. You'll want the tummy, the hands' palm pads, and the muzzle the lighter colour while the tail should be a darker colour than the body.

Some great accessories you may want to add are some Canadian-coloured (red and white) tuques, and maybe a sweater with a maple leaf on it and see where it goes from there.

Learn how to draw a cartoon cat and your mouse problems will be history.

Cats are one of the most popular cartoon characters. Whether they are a biped or a quadruped, they seem to appear in a plethora of series.

The feline we'll be creating is a father cat who is telling his son that cats can't be vegan--it just isn't happening if he has anything to do with it. Father Cat is holding a mouse dangling it by his sharp claws in his son's face--yup, he's THAT kind of father.

Step 1: Sketch the Outline

Draw a circle for the head and two horn shaped ears to give him that bad Dad effect.

Draw the body about 2 heads long and about a head between the body and the feet.

Step 2: Fill in The Body Parts.

Give your cat a some facial fur. Make sure there is two little tufts of fur on either side of the face.

Draw two arms at a 90 degree or so angle. Have a little bend in either leg to make it look like he's bearing his own weight as well a little bit of attitude.

Make sure you get his tail in there too :)

Step 3: Sketch in some Emotion.

If you're making a disappointed stern Dad look, you need to get the face looking angry, but hold back the body from being an absolute terror. Make sure the top part of the eyes are angled down.

Add suiggly lines for the hair to give him a little spunk. Get his whiskers hanging a little downward to show disappointment.

Cats paws look like mittens, so I decided to take the traditional route and give our cat some gloves. Make sure he's got his claws stuck out of the fingers where he'll be holding the mouse.

Step 4: Erase to Finish Sketch

Get in the pupils towards the lower right of the eyes.

Draw the whiskers as if they are a little sad.

Add in your little mouse tail with a slight curve to add a little movement, of course, with your mouse on the end. And you have your basic outline of a cartoon cat.

Step 5: Colour in Your Cartoon Cat

I chose some pretty simple colours. But experiment. Try whatever colours you think will make your cartoon cat shine!

Now that you've learn how to draw a cartoon cat, why don't you experiment with making the younger one. Remember Younger ones bodies are shorter with slightly large heads.

Cartoons birds are great pets. They are particularly common in classic cartoons. Tweety bird is the first one to come to mind when thinking of pet birds. Tweety and Sylvester had some pretty great adventures. What will be the purpose of your pet bird?

When you learn how to draw a cartoon bird your cartoon family will have a great pet to annoy the heck out of the family or keep the family cat busy plotting how to have a tasty exotic meal.

This parrot is a friendly awkward bird, and is a bit of a dreamer.

Step 1: Draw Your Cartoon Bird's Basic Shape

Sketch in a square head with the head getting larger towards the top. Make the body egg-shaped--with the bottom a little flat. The body should be about twice the size of the head.

For the tail, draw a triangle that looks like it's continuing the flat bottom of the bird.

Now the parrot will be on a perch, so we need to make a cylinder that looks like it has a little depth. So make sure the part that's away from us is a little smaller. And draw a perfect circle for the end facing us.

Step 2: Sketch the features of your parrot

Give your cartoon parrot legs to stand on. The toes should be pointy and look like they wrap around the perch.

Draw in the wing. You can only see one from this angle. Make sure it gets pointy at the end as if there is only one feather there.

Parrots have rounded beaks, so the point of the beak will be facing down.

The eyes should be big ovals which would be place at center-left on the face. Slant the ovals to give it a bit more style. Have the pupils looking up towards the ceiling (as if he can see through it to the sky).

Give him some funny spiky hair.

Step 3: Erase Overlapping Lines & Add a few more details

Erase the overlapping lines. There is enough detail now that you don't need the guiding lines.

On the cartoon birds' belly add a belly line, this break up the monotony of the solid colour for the body.

Add lifted eyebrows to show he's looking up.

To complete the beak, add a small circle towards the top, and a small line for a smile- showing he's thinking of something pleasant--maybe about soaring through the sky singing a beautiful song like sparrows do.

Step 4: Finer Details of Your Parrot

Your Parrot is pretty much done, I decided to add a few lines to break up the wing so it didn't look so bare. You can probably skip this step. Alternately, you could draw the same type of squiggly lines of the tail as well depending on how colourful you want your bird to be.

Step 5: Colour In Your Cartoon Bird.

Feel free to choose the colour you like. I decided on keeping the belly white and adding louder colours for the body and wing. I went with traditional colours with this bird, but let your imagination go wild and choose less traditional colours and make him your own.

This is a pretty standard simple cartoon fish that you can easily incorporate into an underwater a scene.

We'll make our fish a little surprised or intrigued (they look the same on generic fish), maybe he sees a yummy worm on the end of a hook or maybe he sees another fish being bullied and he's having a pang of conscience, should he go and help or should he mind his own business--it's not like he'll remember what happened in a few minutes anyway...

Step 1: Draw the Basic Outline of Your Cartoon Fish

The main body should be ovular with a point where the nose should be.

The tail should look a little like a webbed foot.

Step 2: Draw in Some Fins

Add some flippers at the bottom. Don't be afraid to keep these a little rigid. If he's surprised or shocked at all, all body parts become a little more rigid anyways.

Make the top of his head have a couple triangular marks bent towards the back.

Draw in a couple ovals for the eyes and a circle for the mouth. Note how the left eye is off the body--this gives him a little style.

Step 3: Give a Tiny bit of Personality

A fish's eyes don't have much personality. They don't have eyelids or eyebrows. A cartoon fish, on the other finn, can. We'll give this character eyebrows but keep his eyes a little empty looking still. If the fish were to be a primary character in anything you're doing, I'd recommend giving him eyelids: it gives the ability to add a lot wider range of emotions.

Step 4: Draw Gills and Frills

Give your cartoon fish the ability to breath and he'll thank you for it. Also, to add a little frill to your fish add spots, but not too many, I decided to just add a couple to the tail.

Step 5: Colour Your Cartoon Fish

I kept the colours pretty simple for this guy, just gave a light blue for the body and the spots on the tail; and dark blue for the fins.

But you're not limited to be this bland- make him a tropical fish, add reds, greens, yellows and jazz him up whatever way you want!

Cartoons bears are highly popular characters to add to your projects. They just seem so lovable as cartoons. Learn how to draw cartoon bears and you may be able to create a character on par with Yogi and Boo-boo bear, Winnie the Pooh, the Care Bears, the Berenstain Bears, and the list could go on.

The bear we'll be creating is a bear cub who wants to become a circus performer. Ever since Jr. Bear watched Disney's "The Jungle Book" and seeing Baloo bear perform "The Bear Necessities", he has been practicing new moves and songs in his room. He's hoping to perform at this years "Teddy Bear's Picnic".
Let's hope Papa Bear will be approving.

We'll be learning how to draw Jr. Bear step by step.

Step 1: Draw the Bear Cub's Outline

Cubs are like kids, their heads are bigger than their body (at least cartoon kids' are). Also, to be a star performer, you need to have a big head.

Make a pear shape for the body, and make it look like it's tilted a little forward. Place the wide oval of a head on top of your pear shape and make sure the bottom left of the head is where the neck would be. This will make it look like he has his chin up.

When drawing the legs, make sure they look like they are spread, but also keeping your cub balanced.

Step 2: Draw the Cartoon Cub's Head

Now it's time to shape the face. Cartoon bears generally don't have a round head. at least in the position our bear is in.

First, I'd suggest adding the mouth area. Now bears in real life don't actually have this feature, but for cartoons it bears up the colour in the face an makes it a bit more interesting to look at. So, draw a couple of oval shapes intersecting at 90 degrees or just freehand the shape like I did.

Draw in a couple of eyes. Note at the bottom of the ovals for the eyes, I have line curved upward to make it look like he's smiling.

Draw in the hair and connect the bottom of the hair to the snout--but make sure it doesn't attach to the very outside of the nose. This gives the feel that the face is behind the snout.

Draw in the ears at the top left of the head. The shape should be a little wider at the outside and get smaller as it comes into the head.

Draw in the arms in the "Tadah!" position.

Step 3: Fill in the Details

Erase all the guidelines, the bears Outline is complete, now to fill in the details.

Add in a couple of circles in the eyes. Make the circles leaning towards the left as if he's looking at the audience (or you). Add the eyebrows to add some character. It kind of makes him look both happy and looking like he's waiting for your approval. Well, how'd-I-do?-kind-of-look.

Give your bear a nice smile, and an oval nose.

Draw in the hands (remember cartoons only have 4 fingers). Draw the right hand (your right, his left) as if he's giving thumbs up.

Draw in the belly mark and his tail.

Step 4: Gimme Some Gimmicks

Every cartoon character needs a gimmick--some little thing to distinguish him from the rest. Jr. Bear thinks his schtick needs a cane and a small top hat.

Remember, Jr. still hasn't told his Dad that he wants to be a performer, so it's not like he has a huge wardrobe to chose from. So, we'll just give him Grandpa's old cane and cap.

Step 5: Colour Him In

I made JR. brown, it's pretty standard. Make sure you make the snout and the underbelly a light shade of brown, also, the same color can go on the palms of the hands. Alternately for the hands, you can give him some gloves. White gloves are the classic look for main characters in classic cartoons.

When you color in the nose and eyes, you can make a gleaming look by adding a spot or two of white in the top left and the bottom right of the pupil; and on the nose add an oval shaped white spot.

Now that you've learned how to draw a cartoon bear you can spif him up any way you want and create a classic cartoon character to tell some great stories with.

Cartoon flowers are great gifts on social sites. Learn how to draw a cartoon flower and get a virtual girlfriend. Ok, that probably won't happen, but you never know until you try, right?

Also cartoon flowers are great for adorning presentations and for adding to spring themes.

Step 1: Draw the base for your Cartoon Flower

Draw the stem with a slight s-curve. And draw a circle at the top and make sure it looks like it's leaning.

Step 2: Add the back Petals

I added the back petals first as a foundation to draw the rest of the petals over top. Draw them as long ovals in up, down, left, and right positions.
Add the stem of the leaves.

Step 3: Finish Your Flowers Outline

Add a couple petals between each of your base petals from the previous step.
Draw the leaves like tear drops filling most of the leaf stems.

Step 4: Erase Overlapping Lines

Take a look at all the lines and decide which petals you want to be ahead and behind. The ones you want to be in front of the flower should have all the lines in the oval intact, and delete all the lines that cross-over your front petals.

Step 5: Colour in your Cartoon Flower

Choose whatever colours suit your fancy. I went with the colours of a daisy. Green Stem, yellow center and white petals.

Lhasa Apso's seem to be everywhere but cartoons. So, why don't we break some ground and learn how to draw a cartoon Lhasa Apso.

I used to have a Lhasa-Apso Shih-Tzu mix breed dog. If you've seen them before you know how long their hair can get. I noticed when my dog walked around he'd sweep up the floor with his long fur. It reminded of a "Swiffer" mop, so we aptly named him "Swiffer". Here is my cartoon version of my old best friend that I'll teach you to draw step-by-step.

Step 1: Draw a Simple Outline of your Cartoon Dog

Draw the body as a rectangle with a circle on the top right hand corner. Draw another circle a little under the middle line of the head.
For the tail draw a rectangle that goes from the ground to just above the body.

Step 2: Draw your Lhasa's Head

Draw tufts of hair coming down from your dog's head. It should completely cover his eyes and a bit of his nose.
Then draw two triangles pointing down from under his nose.

This gives the minimum basics of the Lhasa look. Hair everywhere!

Step 3: Draw Some Fur

Around the bottom of the body attached to the outside of the rectangle, draw some fur. Make it random. Add a little curve to the top of the body to give him a little roundness.

Do the same for the tail but keep it on the inside.

And don't forget to add the mouth to the face.

Step 4: Erase The Guiding lines

Take out all the straight lines. Erase carefully.

Your dog is coming together nicely now. Time to add some colour.

Step 5: Colour in Your Cartoon Dog

Lhasa Apso's often have a mixture of white, a khaki colour and often will have black tips and sometimes, like Swiffer, a bumblebee line across his back. Make sure you colour in his little tongue.

Step 1: Draw the Cartoon Frog's outline

Draw a mushroom shape that’s tilted slightly to your right. Add a couple big circles for eyes on top, with a couple circles inside for the pupils to the bottom right of the circles to make it look like the frog is looking at something.

Draw an oval for the fly, with a couple for the wings. Cartoon flies are pretty simple.

Step 2: Give your drawing some legs

Add a couple hind legs and front legs. Note how the hind legs jut out from the body. I decided to draw the full legs to give an idea of how our frog legs are shaped. Also, see how the left leg is slightly lower than the right to help enhance the tilt of the frog towards the fly.

Draw a couple circles for the eyes on the fly. Keep him simple.

Step 3: Draw in some tiny details

Draw the frog’s underbelly. Feel free to try shaping it in different ways. Draw his tongue aimed for the fly, but not quite reaching him. Note how I have the two ends of his tongue looking like a mouth about to chomp on the fly.

Make a few lines to show the fly’s motion.

Step 4: Erase Overlapping Lines

Erase the lines that shouldn’t be there and fill in the details. I drew some spots on my frog’s face making him to appear a bit like I’d imagine a cartoon frog in his teenage years would look like.

Step 5: Colour in your Cartoon Frog

Color your frog in. Typically frog’s are green and slimy, but feel free to chose whatever color you want. Remember, it’s your universe you’re creating. I added little eyes and a mouth on the fly to show he’s in distress trying to get away from the tongue.

With it being Easter, I figured I'd start off with a rabbit--maybe an Easter Bunny :) So, learn how to draw a cartoon rabbit in no time!

Cartoon rabbits are either super sweet or massively mischievous. Maybe we could make a rabbit that's a little in-between. Let's make him a chocolate-coloured Easter Bunny showing off an Easter egg, like he's going to throw it at you soon.

It's important to remember your character's personality when drawing cartoons. Note the body posture and the confident look in the rabbits face. It's all part of the drawing.

Step 1: How to draw the basic outline of our cartoon rabbit.

The first thing to do to draw a cartoon rabbit is draw the outline. Draw a bean shaped body with a tilted oval head that is just a bit bigger than the bottom of the body.
Draw a little circle for the tail, a couple of ovals in the center right side of the head, and a little button nose between them.
Draw the left ear like a sword and the right ear should be a little stub. Now, draw the feet about a head's width from the body.

Step 2: How to draw the rabbits major features
Now fill in some of the major parts of the cartoon rabbit. Draw the pupil of the eyes with slanted ovals in the bottom left of the eye circles.
Draw the rabbit's cheeks, add a bean shape to break up the space on his belly, and draw the left arm angling from his shoulder to his bottom.
Draw a stub for his right arm.

Step 3: How to Draw the Rabbit's finer details

Draw the rabbit's right ear folded down. Draw in a smile and his buck teeth. On the stub that was his right arm, draw another at a 90 degree angle and add a hand palm up, scooped as if holding something. Add another hand at the end of the left arm.
Add in some eyebrows for personality.

Step 4: Refine your Drawing

Add a little line follow up the ear, add some eye lids and shape them to give personality, and to give him the Easter Bunny touch, draw in an egg in his hand.
Delete any overlapping lines to give your cartoon character a bit more flow.

Step 5: Colour Your Easter Bunny the colour you like best!

Make sure you make the cotton tail look cottony ;)

When you learn how to draw a cartoon rabbit, you'll be able to make some great cartoons, and the body shape will give you the basis to learn how to draw many different types of cartoon characters.
