Ladies, Gentlemen, Lingerie Lovers, this evening we bring you some sad news.
As of tomorrow, we will no longer be blogging under Toots & Booty. Due to artistic differences and conflicts involving many a snapped suspender and a bruised bralet, Toots & Booty is no more.

Thank you for being with us through our short spell on the internet. Since early 2012 we have enjoyed blogging with and for you and have been overwhelmed by your love, support and response.

Booty will continue lingerie blogging over at her new place of residence – zoubisou.co.uk and you can still find Toots at her fashion blog – t00ts.blogspot.co.uk.

If we don’t see you in either of those places, may your lives be full of joy, laughter and well-fitting bras.

Marios Schwab's Kallisti - His Debut Lingerie Line

The London-based fashion designer is set to launch his debut lingerie line with the help of ASOS which begins the launch this month. The collection consists of 40 pieces, 25 to be released this month exclusive to ASOS and the rest of the collection will drop in January.

Marios Schwab's designs are feminine and beautiful, and evidently the transformation from fashion design to lingerie design was smooth due to his fathers lingerie engineering expertise alongside his collections which are timeless and flattering to the female form.

“Fusing the element of undergarments and the world that is hidden beneath clothes is a continuous inspiration behind the designs I create at Marios Schwab, the detailing that goes within garments and craft involved is something I have been surrounded by since a young boy looking at the work my Dad would bring home. These elements later became integrated within the philosophy of ready to wear garments whilst the surface becomes tributes to what is hidden beneath,” said Schwab

I don't know about anyone else but as someone who has been a fan of his designs for some time I'm so very excited to see what else is to come of this collection! A whole 40 pieces is a lot to choose from - I'm hoping they will be quite affordable! I personally love the spider-web set, it is absolutely stunning.

Ways to Display Your Lingerie!

We all have those knickers and bras that we feel a little bit sad for when they get stuffed away in a drawer. They're just so beautiful! Especially when you have a gorgeous set that you might have grown out of or doesn't fit you and you just can't throw it away - these cute little display ideas are great for showing off those pieces you love and can't hide away, and it also injects a little bit of your lingerie addiction into your home.

1. On a Dress Stand

Dress stands are great thing to have around the house because not only can you design from them but you can put all sorts on them! I always used to fantasise that I would have one in my room for playing about with outfits on (and still would really like one!) So if you have one at home, dress it up in your cutest knickers! Or find one on eBay or perhaps an antique shop.

2. In a Vintage Suitcase/Trunk

I know this is a picture of fabric sewing stuff but why not put your lingerie in it instead?! You could neatly line up your bras in the main body of the suitcase whilst putting little knickers safely in the pockets, and maybe a pocket just for stockings! You could divide the areas too if you like just with cardboard (in a cute colour of course!). Again you can find these suitcases in charity shops/thift stores and car boot sales.

3. On your wall

I love this idea for vintage lingerie! It's something I always look at and find beautiful but it's rarely in my size, so I think I should just buy it anyway for a cute display! I love hanging clothes on the wall, right now I have a pair of turquoise sequinned shorts on mine, it looks so cute. You can hang these with small nails or the tiny white hooks you get from pretty much anywhere.

4. On a cake stand

This is a picture from Playful Promises' boutique! Such a lovely idea. I love cakes but I love knickers even more! If you're looking for a cake stand check out antique shops for pretty vintage ones. I think this would look even more amazing with lacy garters and pasties on them!

5. Neatly in a drawer!

If you don't want to turn your home into a lingerie boutique then just pay special attention to your lingerie drawer! This puts mine to shame of how untidy it is at the moment! I love the neatly arranged bras. To make your drawer even more lovely buy sheets of paper that are scented for drawers, or even line it with some pretty fabric and make your own drawer scents (you can probably find an easy tutorial somewhere) or you can buy them in places like M&S or La Senza!

I'm in Love with Tallulah Love

'Dinner at the Ritz'

For a relatively new lingerie label - launched in January 2010 - Tallulah Love has a fair few achievements tucked under its belt (/suspender belt - too cheesy?). You don't get a 'Special Award for Success' (UK Trade and Investment) or a 'Newcomer of the Year' (North East Business Awards) for nothing, right? Well business-y awards don't mean an awful lot to me as a die-hard lingerie fanatic with next-to-no business knowledge but I do like a sassy newcomer. And Tallulah Love has definitely captured my attention.

'Tallulah Heritage'

Founded by ex-design director of Playboy's 'White Label', Michelle Taylor, Tallulah Love is a delicate nod towards vintage styles with a distinctive trend of uniquely (and more modern) shaped bras. A careful selection of high detailing and quality fabrics roots the brand well within the luxury lingerie sector but with a price range that won't cause heart attacks and shortness of breath.

'Unicorn Kimono' & 'Simply Tallulah'

I am, however, pretty breathless at some of these pieces. The collections vary in shape, colour and fabric but never in ability to excite. I like that no two collections are too alike and yet they're very similar in mood - It's no surprise that the label started out in Paris as there is such an air of Parisian romance about it all.

'Carousel Darling' & 'Simply Tallulah'

New for Spring/Summer '13 is 'Simply Tallulah' (pictured in two above images). Simple by name and nature in its understated yet elegant shape. Perhaps the only of the collections that isn't adorned in several pretty frills and ribbons, it's the ultimate luxury everyday bra. An injection of 'Oh La La' on a Monday morning at the office.

'Sheer Delight Frilly Filly'

Each collection is certainly distinctive in name - 'Sheer Delight Frilly Filly' (above) being one that stands out - but I quite like the cutesy, flirty fun that comes with such sophisticated design. 'Frilly Filly' is also new for S/S '13 as an addition to the brand's assortment of stand-alone panties; a perfect gift idea.

'Preppy Knickers'

I love Tallulah Love. My heart is all aflutter and I'm in silky, lacy, colourful panty heaven. I will definitely be looking out for the new collections and lusting away at current ones on the website in the meantime.

Naughty Knickers Stocks Flirty French Brand, Maison Close

Another Saturday, another Kiss Me Deadly trunk show in the Marble Arch boutique. This time, I got up close and personal with French brand Maison Close. Up until recently Maison Close were pretty hard to come by in the UK but thanks to UK distributor and online lingerie boutique, Naughty Knickers, you can now purchase full Maison Close collections here in Britain.

Maison Close are defined by an eclectic mix of eroticism and fashion - A collection of boudoir accessories and 'special occasion' lingerie mingled with sensual twists on everyday pieces and a whole lot of body jewellery. The label are very well priced for luxury lingerie with the cheapest bra at £26.90 and the most expensive just skimming £80.

I tried on a couple of the most eye-catching pieces and found that they mixed very nicely with some of the Kiss Me Deadly stock. Not only that, Maison Close lingerie feels very well made with interesting cuts, shapes and some really beautiful fabrics. The catsuits in particular are so comfortable they feel more like lounge-wear than erotic-wear. Everything I tried on generated a really fun and playful mood. So much so that I started whipping a flamingo with a rhinestone riding crop...

High Street V Luxury or Independent Lingerie Brands

For a long time I've been a great advocate for high street lingerie... think of me as the Gok Wan of the lingerie blog world (but really I'd rather you didn't). It's reasonably priced, okay quality for what you are paying for and also very fashionable. But what happens when the high street brands begin to "take inspiration" from our favourite lingerie brands, who put so much time into designing a garment?

Did you know it only takes around two hours for a high street shop to make a suit, from design to finished product? This is what we call "fast fashion". Most independent brands who aren't on the high street have maybe only 2-4 collections a year, whereas a high street shop can have new items coming into stock maybe every week. This is why things like this happen; because of the huge turnover and mass-made items it's easy to see a design, duplicate it with some differences and get it into the shops within the next fortnight. In a high street brand, the designers never stop scribbling new ideas because as soon as a new collection goes out, another has to be completed.

But is it just coincidental? Or are the big brands really scouring the little people for new ideas? It's hard to prove things like this unless the design is identical, which it usually isn't. People usually shy away from suing big companies too because the money they will get out of it is just pocket change to the brand, and it will usually cost the smaller brand a lot to make that claim as it is. It's not worth the losses, and above all people will always be loyal to the brands they admire. A lot of brands who have experienced this take it on the chin and say "imitation is the highest form of flattery".

However, to look at the other side of the argument, in what way can we benefit from high street designers producing similar products to lingerie brands? Well, the obvious one is that if you can't afford the luxury lingerie item you wanted and you want a similar look for a smaller price, you can pop in to your local town and purchase it without being too hard out of pocket. However, you have to sacrifice the longer lifespan of the product, the fit, quality of fabrics and the reassurance of having something well-made (responsibly).

But what can you do if you would rather support the brand? Well the answer is simple; always be loyal to the independent brands! Although you may have to fork out more for the product, you are buying into a garment that will last a longer time, will fit the curves of your body, and feel great. And let's face it... you can't put a price on feeling amazing in something!

I for one still think that the high street is a great alternative to luxury lingerie if you don't have the cash, but I would never (knowingly) buy something that is a duplicate due to my duty as a lingerie aficionado! I've seen so many original designs in high street lingerie shops and also some of them have lasted ages for me and the fit is great! So don't be entirely put off because of a couple of copycats. I try to keep a mixture of both high street lingerie and luxury/independent brand lingerie in my drawers because sometimes I need a quick undie fix but also I like to have things that are special and beautifully made.

Opinion - Why Don't We Talk About Lingerie for Guys?

You may remember our post back in May about male lingerie (read it here). Well, we're lucky enough to have a guest post all about undies for men from someone a lot more familiar with it than us. Today's post comes from Brent at Homme Mystere - a company that specialise in attractive, well-fitting lingerie for men. A big thank you to Brent and Christy for sharing with us their view on male lingerie and why it shouldn't be brushed under the carpet. We're big fans!

Despite the fact that most of us live in a free, democratic society, where individual choices such as clothing are not dictated by authorities or government bodies, most of us do not exercise that right. While women have an exceptionally broad choice of clothing options from shorts and pants to dresses and skirts to singlets and dress shirts, guys are socially restricted to a narrow range of clothing options. For example, a woman could comfortably turn up in an office environment, an outdoor working environment or a nightclub wearing a singlet combined with a matching outfit. A guy would be ridiculed in an office, turned away from a nightclub and be accepted by peers in an outdoor environment only if his singlet was of the correct style and colour.

For us guys, clothing generally means conformance or ostracism.

Underwear provides an opportunity to break with social conventions. We can appear to be conformist on the outside, while daring to wear something we actually find comfortable and makes us feel sexy underneath our clothing. Yes, that’s right. Guys that wear nice lingerie wear it for the same reasons many women wear nice lingerie. Because it makes us feel great. And sexy. And daring. And brave. Because in our own way, against all the conventions of society, contrary to how we 'should' appear to our friends and family, we are doing something we want to do.

Buying lingerie isn’t just about how the lingerie looks. More importantly, it’s about how it makes the person feel. The advent of the internet has made guys around the world realise that they’re not alone in their love of lingerie. And it is slowly gaining acceptance around the world. The more we speak about guys wearing lingerie and the more we cater to those guys that love wearing the lingerie, the more socially acceptable men’s lingerie will become.

To understand where men’s lingerie is going, consider changes in the market for beauty products over the past 25 years. In the late eighties, it was virtually unheard of for a guy to be using a face scrub or cleansing creams. Companies were only interested in the market for women and guys that also used those products certainly didn’t talk about it to their friends. These days, there is an ever growing range of beauty products for guys. Guys will even talk about a particular brand or product they like – with other guys!

HommeMystere recognize that. We know there is a large section of the community that want to wear nice lingerie, and we are producing a product to meet that need. Toot's Birthday Lingerie Lust-List!

My 20th birthday is coming up this Saturday and I'm incredibly excited already! Spent the last few days gawking over pretty things that I will be able to buy once it comes round and unsurprisingly, most of this stuff is lingerie! No doubt on Saturday I will be dragging my poor (but very lovely) boyfriend around Harrods and Selfridges looking at luxury lingerie and possibly some lingerie boutiques if we get round to it! However, these are the pieces that have caught my eye lately and will possibly be treating myself to... Happy birthday me! Oh and I promise that after my birthday, any new and favourite pieces I've purchased will certainly be making an appearance on the blog!

Kiss Me Deadly Sirena Set

I know I'm definitely one of the many many women who are after this set! It's absolutely stunning, and I could do with some more red lingerie anyway! I adore this vibrant, sexy red and the beautiful lace trimming on the suspender. I do also really like that cape, unfortunately for me I don't think it's included in the set...

Bordelle shelf bra + classic waspie

If you've been reading this blog for a while you would know how obsessed I am with Bordelle! This set is a bit of an oldie but a goodie, wanted it when I first saw it and still want it now! Such stunning design and so sexy, I don't think I could ever keep that waspie under wraps.

With me also being obsessed with fashion in general this leather and oxblood combination is perfect! Now I just need to find a way to make it totally okay to go out in such small garments (maybe England is not ready for it yet, especially in this dire weather!). I love the pleated leather along the cups and the strap details on the thong.

I love this deep turquoise colour, it's so beautiful. The shape of this set is absolutely perfect too, what my dreams are made of! I love the soft lace laces and the strap details on the bra, perfect for peeking out a top!

I think this bra is very "me"! I love the patent eyelet tape lifting up the mesh to reveal some flesh! I like that it has just enough coverage to be easily worn underneath clothes and also it has gorgeous matching 'big knickers'!

Belle et Bon Bon

This is so stunning, the eyelash lace and the cute ruffles around the hips are perfect. You should see the back, it's even prettier! It's so feminine and lovely, quite different to the lingerie I usually go for!

Araks Lara Bralette and Knickers

This looks so pretty and comfortable, like you wouldn't even know it was there. I love the soft pink and peachy colours together. Definitely a little pick-me-up from the usual wintry dark colours I wear!

Hmmm I think that's all for now! Next week I'm thinking of making a little video for the blog... what it is going to be about I'm not quite sure! Does anyone have any suggestions of what they would like to see on the blog or in a video? Any tutorials or information or something personal from me?

New Corset Brand, Ava Corsetry, Launch in London

If you're a regular on the Kiss Me Deadly website, you've probably seen - or even purchased - corsets by Ava Corsetry and not even realised. With degrees and experience in fashion and period costuming, Danielle is the accomplished corset maker responsible for Kiss Me Deadly's corsets (which you can find here).
Now, as well as continuing her line of corsets for Toots & Booty's favourite UK lingerie brand, she has launched a brand of her own: Ava Corsetry.

The brand made its debut boutique appearance in Kiss Me Deadly's Marylebone boutique last weekend and I was lucky enough to check out (and try on) some of these beautiful corsets.

The first notable thing about all of the corsets is that they are surprisingly comfortable and easy to wear. They nip in at all the right places without causing the uncomfortable restriction that you'd associate with a cheaply made corset. Yes, corsets are designed to restrict but one sign of a well made corset, as Danielle very nicely put it, is that it should "feel like a hug" rather than digging in in areas it shouldn't or restricting the wrong parts of your body.

One of my personal favourites was the Duchess Satin underbust with velvet and diamante trim. The velvet trim accentuates an amazing waist reduction and generates a beautiful classic aesthetic. You can buy it on the Ava Etsy store here.
Corsets are also available to be custom made which is great because it means you get the exact reduction you want and the exact shape you want. Like a particular corset but want it in a different fabric? Like the shape of one underbust but prefer then length of another? You can essentially have your dream corset created just for you and your lovely unique body shape!

Oh Baby It's Cold Outside... Lingerie Winter Warmers

As gorgeous as bras and knickers are, in these cold winter months coming up (at least if you're on this side of the equator), it's just not possible to strut around your home in skimpy panties unless you have the central heating turned up full blast and no worry of a hefty gas bill! Brand Love: Belle Et Bon Bon

As I was flicking through an old Vogue magazine looking for some fashion inspiration for my new little "Fashion Inspiration Journal" (a cute little book with photos from magazines to inspire me perhaps for a future outfit or to help inspire me for fashion oriented projects) and I always have a quick scan through the back sections of the advertisements and I stumbled across Belle Et Bon Bon. The name rang a "Belle" but I wasn't entirely sure where I'd seen it before and I really knew nothing about it (hopefully this isn't a huge lingerie faux-pas, although I have just realised now that they collaborated with Lascivious last year), so after jotting the name down I got round to checking out their website and I am truly blown away!

I've been gushing over their AW12 collection, it is absolutely phenomenal and I'm kicking myself for not having checked them out earlier. Imagine a slightly cheaper Agent Provocateur with a dash of La Perla but with the same exquisite design and sensuality for less dosh. I particularly love this above bodysuit in the most intricate white lace with little soft ruffles on the thighs and deep deep neckline.

Why does this feel ever so feline to me?! I love this teeny tiny butt-skimming nightie in again the most stunning lace and interesting folds at the front, and with a matching lace mask to top it off! If there was a super-heroine who had a love for lingerie as strong as Booty and I's, she would probably wear this.

A cheeky one! I love mesh bodysuits, they scream sex but with stunning details like that embellished "V" they are even more fabulous. Aside from the "vajazzled" (if you don't know what that is look it up tee-hee... not at work!) body I also love the mini cap sleeves which make it even more unusual.

This is definitely one I could not keep underneath my clothing!!! I've become a bit of a joke at work because I tend to wear undies as tops (lingerie as outerwear represent), but who cares when it's this beautiful! I love all of the details on this such as the seams and small ruffles with the black and white striped fabric.

I kinda want to cry over this one because it's so stunning, a very gorgeous nod to vintage-style lingerie with modern fabrics that are to die for. I really quite like the way it's been cinched in like that but without any actual boning support so you can have that stunning waist without having the discomfort (some might find, not all!) of boning or being "held in".

These are a couple of past pieces that also caught my eye and I had to share them!

I love this fringed set! So cute I would just shake my booty and my boobies all day long to get those tassels swinging.

Sorry for using a mannequin photo but the lookbook photo didn't show the set as well as it could have! I love this cute retro-style silky set, I think those shorts would be so comfortable but so sexy too!

What it Means to be a Newly Single Lingerie Lover

Warning - this is a highly self-indulgent, personal break up post!
My boyfriend of 4 years and I decided to part ways recently. Almost my childhood sweetheart - we met when I was 16. Now, at the age of 20, I feel like I have a great journey of personal growth ahead of me and I'm feeling fragile, excited, upset, relieved, at a loss and invigorated all at once. You're probably reading this and thinking, 'what on earth has this got to do with me and my panties?!' I don't blame you and I promise I'm not usually one to air my smalls on the internet - well, the proverbial ones anyway - but I wanted to share this because it's actually so relevant to my love affair with lingerie. From the initial spark of, 'well I guess I'd better start buying big-girl panties now that I've got a boyfriend and all...' to the shocking realisation, 'oh my knickers, lingerie shopping is actually damn cool!', my private relationship with - let's just call him Handsome Boy - coincided perfectly with my relationship with undies.

Now it's all well and good making bold, slightly feminist, empowering statements like, 'your lingerie should be for you and nobody else maaaan, peace out, girl power etc etc' (which I fully admit I have done) but being a single adult for the first time in my 20 short years of existence, I only now fully know what that means. An extremely old picture of one of my first proper lingerie purchases - The What Katie Did Corselette

I always liked to think my lingerie was solely for me but, as is often the way with relationships, I'm aware that I've been conscious of not wearing certain items because the boyfriend might not find them sexy or seeking approval on a new bra to confirm its beauty. This is generally a bad attitude to have towards anything, not just undies, because at the time you never realise how loosely you're placing your self-confidence into the hands of someone else.

I'm sure anyone can relate to that horrible confidence drop when a relationship eventually has to come to an end. I know this sounds shallow and simplistic, but good undies really do help with that! I'm a firm believer in the correlation between making yourself feel good on the inside and the outside. This is an entirely personal process and I'm not guaranteeing that knickers will make you happy or anything similarly presumptuous and unfounded, I just know that when I start my day with a pretty, well-fitting bra/knicker/girdle/suspender belt, I definitely walk with a way cockier strut than usual!

Furthermore, it's a comfort to me that I have some way of feeling great about my big thighs or my gigantic arse that is generated by me, for me and I'm not obliged to share it with anyone unless I really want to (which I often do - I have no shame).
Moreover, I can now be entirely self-indulgent about my little lingerie treasure chest as it's no longer just a collection of garments designed to make me sexy. It's an area of my life that fills me with a lot of passion, interest and appreciation for beauty and above all, art. My lingerie has the same effect on me that one of my favourite Elvgren pin-ups might, that of pure admiration for a beautifully crafted piece of art. A symbol of feminine glamour that I seek in most of my hobbies, passions and endeavours - be they burlesque, retro fashion or classic movie icons. And it comes alive when I, or anyone, wears it regardless of shape, size, colour, height etc.

I am beginning to see myself as a real lingerie fanatic, not just a mannequin. And that's just awesome.

I Heart Else

Wearing the Else Chevron Monochrome Bra

Following on from my write up of the Lingerie Collective boutique last week (which you can read here), today I am going to review my purchase from the lovely London store - The Else Chevron Monochrome bra.
I'd admired the striking, circus-esque aesthetic of the bra from afar for a while (it's quite an old bra) but seeing it in the flesh(/silk?) made me fall in love with it. Now, I'm pretty sure I want to die in it...
For reasons unknown, I've kind of gone off molded and underwired bras for the time being. I'm a bit soft-cup obsessed. However, it's rare that you find a soft-cup bra with the amount of fashion-forward edginess and clever sculpting as the Else Chevron bra. The multiple straps are directional and flattering and, paired with the eye-catching striped print, contribute towards the bra's perfect undies-as-outies-ness (I'm sure there is a better, cleverer fashiony term).

In terms of fit and comfort, the bra is as supportive as you can get without underwire. Everything sits snugly in all the right places, the straps are fun to play with and the 5 hook-and-eyes (yes five!) mean ultimate band comfort.
Moreover, I feel amazing in it! The stripes are flattering on the breast, the colour scheme is just my cup of tea and, I know I keep banging on about them, but the straps look incredible.
I will certainly be buying from Else again.

Lingerie at New York Fashion Week

So we say goodbye to New York, and hello to London fashion week! I'm so excited but gutted that I can't be a part of any of it! So I'll be helplessly trawling through websites at every available moment to get my fashion week fix!

Can I just quickly take a moment to appreciate how pleased I am to see more diversity in race on the catwalks this fashion week? I haven't been able to use all the images here unfortunately because the clothes didn't quite fit into the theme but I was so happy for it! Although, still not enough variety in age and size - the only one I found that seemed to tick all the boxes was brand Imitation of Christ, who used a wide range of models, who were Black, White, Asian, a range of ages and most did not fit into the cusp of the catwalk model size we are (unfortunately) so used to. There was also kids used in this show which sounds a little strange and I'm still not sure how to feel about that one yet! So the search continues for a show with diversity, let's hope London does us proud!

Boutique Experience - The Lingerie Collective

I never intended to do a write-up on my visit to The Lingerie Collective in Soho. I don't really like the idea of being a secret blogger/shopper and anyway, my visit wasn't planned. However, due to A) having had a lovely experience in The Lingerie Collective and B) having very little on here about London boutiques despite being London-based bloggers, I felt that my boutique experience should be shared.

I happened to be undergoing a bit of retail therapy yesterday and came across the boutique by chance. Just off of Carnaby Street, The Lingerie Collective is a welcome retreat from the hustle and bustle of boring clothes shops - regular outerwear clothes? Pah! Who needs them?! - and is lovingly decorated with tassels - probably a lot to do with the selection of Fraulein Kink accessories - and fabulous erotic art wallpaper.

In terms of the actual lingerie on show, the shop is like a Who's Who of luxury (and several London-based) designers. Here you will find plenty of Bordelle (including the fabulous bridal range), Lascivious, Marika Vera, Ell & Cee, Else, Dirty Pretty Things, MC Lounge (and more) in a mix of autumnal colours - bang on time and on trend this Lingerie Collective!

I was joined in the boutique by the lovely Kelly - who took the time to get on a first-name basis which made me feel very welcome. Kelly was chatty, friendly and helpful, offering great advice on shape and styling and even shared her glossy mag with me.
In the end I bought a £75 Else bra that I've admired from afar for ages (which I will review tomorrow) and I never even intended to buy a thing! A beautiful shop with super friendly staff! 100% recommended!

Ouvert and Cupless - What's the deal?

What is the point of lingerie? Is it functional, is it for covering up your boobs and bum, for support? Or is lingerie simply there for the point of being alluring, beautiful, and making you feel like a goddess? I'd like to think it was the latter but I suppose that when lingerie was first created they weren't as forward-thinking. It wasn't until the nineteenth century was lingerie was created as a visually appealing garment. So why do we have lingerie that purposefully doesn't cover nipples and genitals?! Well, here at Toots & Booty I'm all for the idea of being naked whilst also getting to wear the cutest and most beautiful lingerie pieces!

The word ouvert comes from the French, meaning "open". This is used in the English language to describe crotchless or bumless(?) garments. Frantic About Frances - Grown Up Lingerie for Pin Ups

Frantic About Frances are a fabulous retro brand that specialise not just in recreating authentic pin up lingerie but in making it fun, quirky and unique. We loved their 'It Takes Allsorts' bullet bra from last season and the new collection is set to be just as popular with Toots & Booty.

FAF's A/W12 collections don't quite represent the usual cheesecake pin up fun and frolic as previous collections. Gazing at Gilda and Envy Enchanted are more grown up thanks to an application of rich jewel tones and sexy sheers.

Frilly bullet bras and playfully adorned high-waisted knickers are still aplenty, providing a gorgeous retro aesthetic across each collection. The only difference is that this is lingerie for pin up women rather than pin up girls. The colours are luxurious and glamourous but if you're really missing those pretty prints that nod towards the ever-so cheeky, Call Me Coral has you covered.

The delicate rose print is beautiful when contrasted with black lace and bow trimmings. The triangle bra doesn't look ideal for everyday wear - we'd categorize it with the 'one for the bedroom' lingerie - but it is adorably feminine and the ribbon halter is a lovely touch.

You'll be pleased to know that all Frantic About Frances lingerie is made in the UK (in fact, we were delighted to call them one of our Best of British). Nicole Gill - Seventies Sheek with New Collection for AW12

If you told me to think of the 70's, an array of images would circulate in my mind. I would think of glam rock, punk, flares bigger than your face, loose morals, Bagpuss... sophistication and elegance probably wouldn't be among this. Now, thanks to Nicole Gill lingerie, I can see the 70's in a whole new light.

'Signature Stripe' consists of figure enhancing girdles, bras, knickers, bodies and nightwear. The combination of stretch silks with silk chiffon panelling generates a look that exudes femininity and nods gracefully towards current fashions.
On the new collection, Nicole notes:

"I felt inspired by the sophisticated tailored look of the 1970s and the elegant styling of the era"

'Signature Stripe' is perfectly apt a name for the collection as the delicate elegance and simplicity in design allows each piece to be a glamourous signature for every woman. Nicole Gill provides the subtle sophistication so you can 'wear it your way', so to speak.

The stripes and straps that adorn each piece not only contribute towards dramatic shapes and silhouettes, but blur the line between lingerie and outerwear. I love the idea that garments in the collection can be mixed and matched to suit different body shapes and sizes and I would quite happily wear the Allisandra Balconette Bra or the Violette Body with a pencil skirt when out and about.

The Peyton Kimono (above) is my favourite piece from the collection because I adore its ability to blend elements of a sophisticated past with a fashion forward future.

All in all, a fabulous collection definitely worth checking out! And Nicole earns extra brownie points for having an entire collection manufactured in the UK!

Toots, Booty and Sean OMalley Combine Forces with Fabulous Boudoir Consequences

Back in June, Toots & Booty decided to embark on the sexy, scantily clad mission of shooting some imagery for our humble little blog. This is partly because we were sick of being faceless bloggers but also because, lingerie is made to be seen right? We just don't think it would be fair to parade images of ladies in their smalls around the place without getting involved! So this is us in all our scant glory - Toots is the blondie, Booty is the one with the irrationally large bottom! And this is what we wore...

Bra by La Senza, Briefs by Ann Summers and Waist Cincher by What Katie Did

A huge mixture of brands here! This bra from La Senza is incredibly comfortable, and I absolutely love it's ribbon straps and peach satin and black panels. These knickers are a perfect match for them which it's exact same peach satin colour with black trimmings. This waist cincher by What Katie Did finishes this off fantastically with it's beautifully form-fitting shape and sturdy tummy-tucking capabilities!

Peach lingerie is classic and vintage. That being said, in "classic/vintage" style, Booty wore the CC09 bullet bra by What Katie Did (find it here). A bullet bra is the ultimate staple in the retro-lover's collection and Booty loves her retro lingerie! Unfortunately, this bullet bra usually only makes an appearance in photoshoots because it doesn't really work to its full effect under modern garments.

Peach may be classic but kink is fabulous. Here we mixed leathers and straps with buckles and a whole lotta black! (Everyone knows black lingerie is bad girl lingerie, right?) We'd very much like to see Christian Grey try to cross us...

Toots wore the Dita bra by Ann Summers, which clasps up at the front and laces up at the back - perfect aesthetically but when you're in an interview and your bra pops open it is not good! I love this leather suspender belt, although not entirely functional due to it having no give whatsoever, it looks awesome with lingerie or used as outerwear. I'm currently making new and improved versions of this to be sold soon!

Booty wore the Eliza Cincher Brief by Kiss Me Deadly which, in true KMD style, is high-waisted and features an awesome hook-and-eye fastening on the front. This is teamed with a latex suspender by IntravenousX and a leather bra from Rokit Vintage.

From kink to ultra girly...PINK (to make the boys wink). Okay so these photos are in black and white but bear with us...

And...PINK. So Toots & Booty have always been avid lingerie fans but this blog has really developed our lingerie love into full-blown-freaky-knicker obsession. This means that Booty has traversed from a "black, black and more black" girl to wanting ALL the lingerie in ALL the colours. This is Booty's most eye-wateringly colourful possession and it is also a dear favourite - the Isabella Non-Padded bra by Myla. While no longer available in this colour, it's still a beautiful shape with scooped sides and a dainty lace cup.

I think I was close to tears as I bought this bra for only £30! This is the Infragante soft cup bra by Bordelle and it's absolutely perfect. I love it's bright pink silk with the mesh cups, brought together with Bordelle's signature attention to detail, the gold loops.

Forget everything you know about vampiric femme fatales because these two sets are perfect for man-eaters. Whether it's the archetypal deep-red of an anti-heroine or a sheer sparkle of a dangerous mermaid, these are bound to lead you down in the depth's of the ocean if you're not careful...

Waving the flag for high street lingerie that I so rave on all the time! This beautiful Topshop set caught my eye with it's Oxblood satin and black lace trimming. I love long-line bralet's and this one is perfect to wear with a pencil skirt and some killer heels.

So Booty clearly has no shame... hence the see-through Myla bra and choosing a Fleur of England set that may as well be made out of cling film for all the modesty it provides for her first set of the day's shooting. Made out of Italian Chantilly lace with silver bits woven through it, the "All That Glitters" balcony bra and shortie are incredibly racy pieces. But mmmh, Italian Chantilly lace...

When I first put these on I thought to myself "Kiss Me Deadly, you are genius!". These big knickers are incredible, giving you everything your bottom half needs! It lengthens your legs with it's high-cut thighs, lifts up your bum with it's fancy mesh power-net, and makes your waist and tummy so teeny-tiny. So I can now conclude that if you want to be bootylicious all you need is Kiss Me Deadly's Vargas Panty Girdle.

At the beginning, to me (Toots) the thought of strutting about in my undercrackers made me feel incredibly nervous! However, the entire experience was so fun, liberating and I won't forget it any time soon, and above all I now have photos of myself in my cutest underwear to show off! Don't get me wrong, I'm no model but I'm proud to have had the confidence to have these photos taken, let alone put online for the world to see! So if you're a lingerie lover, pick out your best sets, get hold of a photographer and work it baby because you're fabulous and so are your knickers!

La Perla AW12 Collection: Oriental Suite

Luxury brand La Perla has released this new elegant collection inspired by the Orient, fans and cross-over with chic Italian style. With it's obi-belts, trompe-l'oeil effects and stunning stylised prints, it's no wonder this collection has me weak at the knees!

The above dress was the first item I saw on their website and it certainly draws you in! I'm in love with the sheer panel on the chest with beautiful, delicate lace covering the breasts yet also set-off by the Italian-inspired tailored look of the rest of the garment.

More of that perfect sheer lace! This beautiful top is great as lingerie or to wear as outerwear with one of La Perla's bras to show off two pieces in one go! The belt shown is very interesting, but I'd like to see it in different angles before I decide how I feel about it.

More gorgeous lace! I love the thick lace with the smaller, more mesh-like lace and contrasted against the brilliant China-blue pasties, it makes for a perfect combination and loving the earrings too! A sweet soft-bra set and hipster knickers is perfect for everyone.

This bra up-close is absolutely stunning with it's very original shape and again leaver's lace for that luxury element that all La Perla fans crave. This slip to match is also stunning with it's light, almost clear panels and black seams, baring all.

Yellow-gold and blue are going to be big in AW this year in the fashion world, so matching your lingerie seems like the smartest thing to do! I love this burst of colour in the collection, and again that unique bra shape along with a beautiful, almost liquid gold-like silk robe.

A modern twist on Italian chic, I love this pale pink silk nightdress with it's unusual waist panel and bandage-style bodice. Simple but incredibly sophisticated.

Grey and deep red combined to create this beautiful Shanghai-style kimono and lingerie set (and my goodness those shoes!). The red lace looks absolutely fantastic against the grey silk and also an unusual obi-belt inspired suspender belt to match.

Who would have thought that grey would be such a stunning colour choice for lingerie! I love the different textures used for all the panels in this set, the mesh, the lace and silk!

I love this little chiffon nightdress! I wish there was a better image of it so that I could have a better eyeful of it, for example the silky parts either side? I do however love the tied-up shoulder straps and the lace detail under the bust.

Oh this kimono is killing me! I love the high neckline with the embellished lace underneath the deep steel silk. This underwired bra is also to die for, with it's similarly sparkling lace sections and mesh cups.

The pyjama set is the essence of luxury and a taste of the Orient. This pattern is incredible with it's light pink, delicate neutral shades and black outlines. I also love the button-up detail along with the contrasting sleeves and bottoms to match.

Another example of that beautiful camellia pink and steel-grey. I think this has a modern edge to the Oriental style La Perla were going for but still a beautiful rendition of the kimono and silks.

One of my favourites from the collection! Gorgeous embroidered gold dragon to celebrate 2012: the Year of the Dragon, tied in with black underneath for beautiful timeless luxury style.

Another stunner! I love these high-waisted play-suit style knickers with this incredible bra which appears to be almost cupless but is actually using very delicate tulle inserts to create this effect.

Made By Niki are fashion-forward lingerie designers based in the English countryside. Most well known for their String collections that have been said to leave the skin tingling under the delicate string, they now are beginning to introduce to us their AW12 collection, and I have to say that it does not disappoint!

Firstly we begin with Part One of their collection, which has been released for sale. Continuing their slinky classics, we have here a new, gorgeous colour-way! I love the ombre deep red and black string against the silky fabric and gold loops, this style is going to be perfect to compliment Autumn fashion this year as we yet again see a revival of vampish glamour with a lot of leather and dark colouring. I would love to see the body paired with cigarette leg black trousers!

We seem to have a little Good VS Evil theme here, since we are shown similar pieces but in brilliant white with hints of cream. The skirt is incredible and would compliment any plain dress perfectly, and I also love the bralet style top.

Such a beautiful colour-way! Another beautiful collection to compliment fashion this AW, with it's almost fur-like texture it is very on trend with shaggy fur coats which are said to be popular next season. I love the addition of the crop-top.

Now these have not yet been released, and I could not find many images of what is awaiting us nearer Autumn, but I have to say I love this red and white chiffon style with an ombre/dip-dye effect. It's so gorgeous and delicate I don't think I would be able to stop fondling it!

As someone who is a fan of the slinky collection, I think what Made By Niki have in store for AW 2012 is absolutely perfect, however I am a little disappointed in the lack of variety here! So please, keep making your amazing slinky pieces but I'm hungry for more of it! And anticipating what Part 2 brings.

New Agent Provocateur - Do we show our true selves through lingerie?

Agent Provocateur - Whitney

It's a fabulous time in the world of lingerie right now as more and more designers are releasing their Autumn/Winter collections to the public. Agent Provocateur have just released their AW12 campaign complete with the usual raunchy video accompaniment. As ever, AP's collection is dark, sexy and fashion forward with some really exquisite pieces. What really captured my imagination is the campaign's tagline - "Show Your True Self".

According to Agent Provocateur, "Set in Victorian London, the campaign tells the story of an enigmatic woman whose true Agent Provocateur spirit is revealed by a magical camera. Her inner sensuality is unveiled, and she mesmerizes and bewitches." The idea of a veiled sensuality that emerges through lingerie isn't very innovative or interesting but I do wonder if there is more to it.

Lingerie is a very directional and appreciated segment of the fashion industry now and there are certainly a lot of lingerie appreciation blogs on the internet (hi!). It seems likely that this is due to the way that lingerie makes people feel. From personal experience, lingerie is a form of expression just as other fashion is. For me, this is elevated by the power of knowing that under whatever garment I'm wearing is something beautiful and secret to everyone but me (and Handsome Boy).

Naturally, a real lingerie fan will ensure that what they buy and wear is in keeping with how they'd like to present themselves and is flattering and consistent with their body shape. A lot of care and attention goes into this selection process because, well, you're shopping for your most intimate areas! More than that, lingerie is a sexual, sensual thing and so you want it look sexual and sensual on you. I fully agree that women feel their sexiest when they are confident and at peace with themselves.

Not only that, when lingerie is doing it's correct job (i.e. it fits properly) you'll be surprised at the change in your normal garments. Take a girdle for example, wear a skin tight dress without one and you'll spend the day feeling insecure about panty lines and er..wobbly bits. Paired with some kick-arse shapewear, that dress will make you look and feel amazing.

Showing your true self may or may not be about releasing your "inner goddess" or channelling your "veiled sensuality". Things aren't that one-dimensional. However, you can count on good lingerie to make you feel confident and comfortable. That's good enough for us.
