It is only 36 days until Christmas people! This year I am going to buy my toys at online stores like Amazon.com for these reasons:

Stress free shopping sitting at home with my laptop and a glass of something seasonal
I can read feedback on my gifts from those who have already bought them
I can get free delivery as a rule
Most stores, including Amazon.com gift wrap for free
I like the way they rank toys by type, price, age group, popularity etc- really helps.

So why would anyone want to trail around the toy stores when you can get all these stress free benefits from home. How did we cope without the internet. Thanks Bill!

Luckily for us doing your Christmas shopping online means that you can choose toys from age appropriate categories and read feedback from other people who bought them that will help in making a good choice. That is one reason that I always buy toys from Amazon.com. or somewhere else that offers an equally user friendly service, together with good discounts on prices.

This year I have to buy for a 3 year old and as I am a bit out of touch with this age group I had to get a few ideas from the web site.

I have finally chosen this: Smart Cycle Extreme from Fisher Price

The Smart Cycle according to the manufacturer "...has a rumble feature in the handle bar. It's a stationary bike, a learning center, and an arcade game system-all rolled into one. Smart Cycle plugs into the TV. As a child pedals favorite character friends guide them through learning discoveries, games, and even exciting races."

I see that if I buy it with the Fisher Price Smart Fit I can get a better discount. The Smart Fit is a sort of baby Wii Fit. Kids can walk, run, jump and stomp while playing up to 8 different activities. The parents who review it give it 5 stars for "fun" and although they have some critisism of it the children love it.

It is no use giving a price here because they change them all the time but it will be around $120 for both of them. Both are suitable from 3 to 6 years.

What About Lego For Christmas?

Lego is always very popular but has become even more so this year. It is a great toy for several reasons:

It all fits together no matter what set you buy
It keeps kids busy and their minds engaged creatively
There are sets for all ages from 18 months to 17 +
It is a quality toy that is unbreakable and it looks and feels attractive.

Maybe there are more reasons that Lego is a great toy but those are the ones that spring to my mind.

My kids loved Lego and to tell you the truth one of them still buys Lego, the Ultimate Collectors Sets (UCF) even though he is an adult now. One of the most recent in the UCF is Lego Starwars Death Star. It is enormous!! See it on the left.

Lego Star Wars has loads of different sets and there is sure to be one to suit your budget. The great thing is that you can add to the sets and over time build up an enormous collection of Lego.

We have all the Lego we bought for our kids and it is not being played with by the grandchildren. How many toys can you say that about?

Webkinz Toys are so popular that if your children are into them you are going to have trouble resisting the pressure to buy. And why would you want to resist? Webkinz are just stuffed toys! What genius has managed to give new life to stuffed toys? And Webkinz aren't just for little kids who are the tradtional stuffed toy consumers. No, Webkinz are sold for childen up to 15 years old!

The big selling factor is that these toys come alive on a computer. Children register their Webkinz toy and then they can play with it in its animated online persona. Its a bit like a virtual world for toys. That is clever and fun too.

But the snag is there seem to be lots and lots of them and no doubt more are in the factory being created at this very moment! You are going to have to put a firm foot down if you want to prevent a whole Naoh's Ark of Webkinz occupying your home! We all have to learn that we can't have everything we want and this may be a good time for you to teach this to your children.

But I have to agree that Webkinz Toys are very very cute and it isn't easy to decide just which one to buy. On the right you can see a few of them but there are lots more: Webkinz Toys.

Also these toys seem to increase in value because they get retired. This puts up the value and you can even find them on ebay for several hundred dollars. So perhaps you will reap a reward from your Webkinz. But don't bank on it!

Snap Circuits is I think, the perfect toy for children from about 6 to 13 years old- depending on the child.
