Did you know you can make a gift tag out of just about ANY die cut!? I chose to create a gift card holder tag to add to any gift or hang on the tree. Let me show you what I did.

First I die cut some water-colour paper using the Pocket Pages die cut set. I watercolored them with a light blue wash.

Then I took a gift card and measured where the card would sit in the card holder. The larger rectangle shape being the back and the medallion shape being the front the card sits in. I marked the edges of the card and then punched holes where the marks were.

I then took an exact knife and cut from hole punch to hole punch to make a slit for the card to go in.

I popped up the front panel with dimensional foam to give the card some room to move in-between the two panels.

I then adhered them together and stamped the front with the sentiment. I also added some pine leaves and berries to decorate it a bit. Finishing it off with some ribbon and twine.

Very easy and simple to make! You can look through all of your Top Dog Dies and see what you can create for this holiday season! I think you would be surprised at all the options they have in the store.

First, I’ll start off with this fun non-traditional card. I was going for that Pink Martini kind of Christmas. J. This card features some Pool Party base from SU! and some Lawn Fawn DP with falling snow. On top of that I used the Top Dog Dies Snowflake Mosaic Die and cut it into some DCWV pink Glitter cardstock. UM FABULOUS! I love how it sparkles don’t you!   Next I added some twine and a banner across the top using MME holiday stickers. The polar bear is one of my daughters stickers (shhhhhh!!!!) and super fuzzy. I used some pink SU! ribbon to make a little scarf on this cute guy. Now, he is cute, but the mosaic die is really the star of the show here.

My next card is a little more traditional. I love the red and green. I used the Top Dog Dies Snowflake Mosaic Die again and cut it into white paper. I then used Fire Brick Ranger ink to add the red. It’s just poppin! I also used Top Dog Dies Ornament and Tags Die Set #2, and I love the way it turned out. The sparkly gold top makes the ornament look so real. Finally, I added Top Dog Dies Vintage Numbers Die set in glitter paper to add the 25. I finished it with a Hero Arts sentiment.

Last but not least I have this SUPER cute and fun card featuring the new Top Dog Dies Penguin Die set! EEEEK, they are just darling aren’t they! Paired with the Top Dog Dies Snowman Globe Die set it is simply perfect. I love these colors too, from my new Glad Tidings paper pad from American Crafts. They match quite well with the SU! Cherry cobbler. I added some ribbon around and this Top Dog Dies Merry Christmas Die Set sentiment that wraps right around the globe. I finished it with a few snowflakes from the penguin set and I am extremely happy with the outcome. One of my favorite cards I’ve made to date this year.

This set is so adorable and was fun to use. I made a little shaker speech bubble frame tag with it. I used various colors of sequins, white, silver and a splash of light blue. The backing is silver foil paper from DCWV. The sentiment is from Cardz TV called Naughty or Nice. I thought it was cute and made the project fun.

This card below I used the die set TC143 Polar Bear Die set. I wanted to make it look like a “Forever” stamp so I cut out a stamp shape on my Cameo and added the “Furever” as a play on the forever stamp. Used a really pretty light blue glitter paper for the background and the pop of red for the base. Some clear sequins and the snowflakes made it a nice finish.

What you’ll need:
Craft Foam (I used colored, adhesive backed craft foam)
Super Strong glue (I used Ranger Multi Medium Matte)
Card Stock
Clear Acetate (I found some inexpensive report covers at the office supply store)
Three dies that will fit inside each other
Sparklies (Glitter, Beads, Sequins etc.)

You will need three dies that will fit inside each other. They can be any size or shape. As an alternate you can also use punches.

For this tutorial I used a scallop circle with two smaller circles ( the scallop is 3 3/8”, the circles are 2 3/8, 2 ¾”) I will refer to the circles as scalloped circle, large circle and small circle for the tutorial

Cut scallop circle (this will be the back of the shaker). I used brown.

Create a frame by placing the small circle inside the scallop circle on your die cutting plate. If you have a magnetic plate it will hold the dies in place so they don’t need to be secured with tape.

Create your cut sandwich in this order (bottom to top) magnetic plate, cutting plate, dies, card stock, adhesive foam tape (adhesive paper side down) cutting plate.

Note: I used colored adhesive back craft foam. I chose the craft foam of a similar color to my card stock (brown). You can use any foam you like – I tried several for this tutorial. I prefer colored because it will blend between the layers of card stock.   Because of the springy property of the foam it is easy to stretch when you remove it. The adhesive backing helps the foam keep it’s shape and will make your shaker easier to assemble. Die cut acetate/transparency with the larger circle. Tip: For a clean cut layer a piece of scrap paper behind the transparency.   Note: I used an inexpensive report cover from an office supply store.

Now let’s make a scene for the inside!   Cut a large circle from colored cardstock.

To make a landscape die cut a border in two different shades of cardstock. You can also cut a freehand pattern with scissors.   Tape the two layers together and die cut with the large circle. Note: Place the die over the pattern so you can see how it will appear in the window. When you are satisfied, tape the circle in place and die cut.

For a finished look be sure to have the right side of the die cut face down. Glue background on the reverse side of the scalloped circle.

Adhere die cut frame to base with adhesive paper faced up. You can use any strong adhesive. I like to use a liquid adhesive so I have extra time to make sure the foam is exactly where I want it. Place an acrylic block or other weight over this and allow time for it to dry completely.

Die cut other images and finish the scene inside the frame.

Add sprinkles inside the frame.

Remove paper to expose foam adhesive.

Place acetate/ transparency over open window to secure sprinkles inside.

Place cardstock frame over exposed foam adhesive.

Finish decorating the tag as you like. I added a base to give a snowglobe appearance. Be creative, you can repurpose your existing dies like I did. This is a dress die that I trimmed to look like a snow globe base.

Punch a hole in the frame, add twine, tag, and pretty bow!

I have lots of pictures so grab a cuppa and let me take you on a trip. All my photos were taken by the parents of my daughter’s best friend. They were kind enough to take her to one of their favorite places this time of year. I knew I had to document this so they could remember all the fun they had!

I love this pumpkin shaped album from Top Dog Dies.  It comes with a “finishers” die set that includes variations on the Jack O Lantern Face and other accessories. I used the Leaves Die set for my pumpkin – the solid honeydew Twinery Twine makes lovely tendrils for the pumpkin leaves.

This was a simple album to make. I started with scraps of cardboard – you know those pieces you can’t part with – like from the back of a stack pads. Using a glue stick I adhered pattern paper to the front and back of the cardboard. Next I die cut the pumpkin album shape, and then punched holes for the jump rings. I inked up all the edges of all the pages to cover the cardboard edges and soften it up.

All the dies on my project are from Top Dog Dies. I like starting an album with the details of the trip – this is a good place for a ticket stub or a journaling card – who what where when why. I attached a little tag wrapped with Mandarin Twine. The button was easy to thread on the twine – just move it along until you like where it’s placed. I think it looks like shiny candy! I also threaded the tag with several strands of Lilac Twine to make it extra foofy.

I added a little banner to this page with Charcoal Twine. Instead of leaving the ends loose I decided to attach one end to a spider with googly eyes!   The scallop border is from Borders #2 die set, and the spider?  From spiders of course!  It comes with several of the little guys with a spider web.

added a few photos I grabbed from the farm web site to add to the album. This helps set the scene when they look back at this album.

For this page I added a few bitty spiders hanging from Charcoal Twinery Twine.  The spiders are from the Witch die set and the web from the Spiders set I mentioned.

I punched a few holes along the outside edge of the album and threaded some colorful twine through the holes.

Because the holes are through the entire page you can see the pretty twine on the front and back of the page.

This is the spinning honeypot ride! Looks like fun right?   I added some die cut Ghosts.

For the moon over my haunted house I glued Marigold twine in a circular shape. The center of the circle was misshaped – not a perfect circle so I topped it with a die cut bat.

This simple twine tied bow button makes another great embellishment for tucking into a corner to mount your photo.

Instead of mounting photos on this side I used the twine to string a row of skulls. I left the page blank so my daughter could add a little journaling and write down her favorite memories of the day.

I added another cute button twine bow to the end of the sentiment tag on this page. I tucked a few die cut leaves underneath.

I wrapped Mandarin twine around my fingers to form a circle and then adhered them to the page to make this loopy embellishment. A few die cut pumpkins and a star stick pin make this magical!  The pumpkins look great in white or orange!

End of the road for this book… getting mooned by a scarecrow!  How silly!

I love white pumpkins!!! I couldn’t wait to make some. I used the Top Dog Dies Pumpkin Die Set.  To create the card base I trimmed some watercolored cardstock and created a mask for the moon.  I used canary ink from Colorbox. I inked it up the background with faded jeans and stormy sky distress inks than added a splash of water. 

I die cut all my pumpkins using cardstock from Papertrey Ink. Than adhered them to the watercolored base.  The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink, Happy Haunting.  I stamped the sentiment with black ink from Memento and added some silver stars purchased from Michaels.

I love pumpkin patches…for this card I used the Top Dog Dies Pumpkin Die Set. I added some funny eyes from Michaels. I trimmed some cardstock for my base than made some rolling hills with oval dies from Spellbinders. 

The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink, Happy Haunting. I used black ink from memento. For a finishing touch I added some wood stars from Stucio Calico.

My last halloween card…

This is one of the cutest die sets ever!!!! Top Dog Dies Wicked Witch Die Set, there are so many different ways to use this!!! The details in this die are amazing!!!!

I wanted to make some funky witch stockings!!! I trimmed some purple and green cardstock into thin strips and adhered them onto some scrap paper, than die cut them and there you go…funky witch stockings!!!  I die cut the shoes and buckles and adhered them to the stckings. The witches dress was cut twice, once with black cardstock than with vellum. Love the double layer…looks like tulle! All cardstock is from Papertrey Ink. After positioning the witch to the base I stamped the sentiment, from WPlus9, Sparkle and Shine, and adhered some glitter to the word sparkle. The cord and stars are from Michaels.

The next two cards were created using Top Dog Dies Make A Cake Die Set , and Mr. & Mrs. Banner Die Set

I used watercolored cardstock to die cut the cake and vellum to die cut the scalloped icing. After I adhered the cake to the card base I added some dots of icicng using liquid pearls in white. The violet flower blossoms are from Wild Orchid Crafts.

I die cut the Mr. & Mrs. banner and heart banner from silver glitter cardstock from Recollections. The sequins are from Pretty Pink Posh.

I adhered pattern paper from Lil’Inker Designs for the card base. I created the cake using pink cardstock and vellum for the icing. I die cut the candles with solid cardstock than added some white dots with a white gel pen. The flames were cut using gold catdstock.

I die cut the banners using solid cardstock, Papertrey Ink and pattern paper, My Mind’s Eye. I finished the card using enamel dots from My Mind’s Eye. Hope you enjoyed what I have created! Thanks for taking a peek!!!

I just discovered that the smallest piece from the Make A Banner Die Set fits perfectly behind the window of the Mosaic dies. Brilliant! Now I can slip some die cut pieces of color behind the die to peek through the openings.

My first card shows different colors behind the windows, and for an extra pop of color some Fall Foliage in aqua. The blue gives lots of contrast with the yellows, reds and oranges of the background.

For my second card I die cut the Leaf Mosaic from watercolor paper and added watercolor only to the leaves.

I used Peerless Watercolors – first adding water to the areas I wanted colored, and then applying the color. The watercolor will stay in the areas you wet first.

My last card is very clean and simple. I wanted to show the elegance of the die, and how pretty it looks without any special treatments. I simply cut it from gold foil and adhered it to an aqua blue card base.

I have a special post to share today.  I am guest designing for Top Dog Dies.  For my first card, I started with a piece of watercolor paper.  I did the smooshing technique using Ranger Distress Inks in Fired Brick, Dried Marigold, and Peeled Paint.

I used my heat gun in between each color.   Next, I added my die cuts from Top Dog Dies.  I die cut Vintage Alphabet die twice in black and stacked together the letters for some added depth and dimension to the “hello” sentiment.

 I added some loose threading behind and a sentiment below.  I finished with a heart die cut from Mr.and Mrs. Banner die set in white card stock and sponged with more of the Rangers Fired Brick ink.  I love the blend of these colors with the pop of the black letters in this fabulous font.  The perfect size letters, too!

For my next project, I used the Mr.and Mrs. Banner die set.  I wanted to create a wedding card that was elegant and full of love.  I started with some white linen paper.  I used the third die in this set to die cut two sets of graduated red hearts.  I glued the hearts together for thicker more dimensional hearts.   

I then used the the negative image as a stencil to line the hearts up and glue to the card.  To add a little pizzazz, I used glossy accents on all of the hearts.  They look really shiny and dimensional. I love the graduated effect as well. I layered a gold metallic foil card stock behind the linen paper.  For the sentiment portion, I knew I wanted to bring in more of the gold metallic.  I die cut the Mr. and Mrs. banner three times.

I stacked three together, but instead of using all three in the metallic gold, I layered.  The bottom layer is white, middle layer kraft, and top layer gold.  This allows for a smooth transition from the white linen, but I do not have to use all my gold foil card stock to get the dimension I wanted.

For my last project, I am used the Make a Banner die set.  I started with watercolor paper.  I spritzed the paper first then brushed on different water color paints.  I used medium blue, water blue, and lime green shades.  I set it aside and let it dry completely.

Once it was dried,  I used the smallest of the dies in the Make a Banner die set and started die cutting the water color panel until I had twelve pierced squares cut out.  I added foam tape to the back of each.  I arranged my squares onto a white piece of card stock and layered with a pop of green to the white card base.

For the focal image, I used the largest of the dies from the Make a Banner die set and threaded a piece of black and white twine through it and glued to the back.  I added a sentiment in black ink.  I used foam tape with some loose threading behind to layer on the card.  I added an additional white embossed scissor cut sentiment to the front with more foam tape.  I finished the card with a twine bow and a few black sequins.

Next up is a project I made focusing on the before mentioned Ghost Die set. When I saw these dies, my Halloween lovin’ heart went pitter patter. Smiling Ghosts: Super cute.

I love the little pierced holes outlining them. These details add so very much. Of course, I had to make one ghost uniquely outstanding.

The next projects I made are these drink straws. I am a total *sucker* for paper straws, and then adding a little fun to them for a party or just because, even better.

The possibilities are endless designing these. Try it! Even just to enjoy yourself on Halloween.

Moving right along to a caffeine fix, ha ha! This next card is one of my favorites. I used the previously released Coffee Cup and Finishers die set, along with the Ghost and Spiders die sets. I mean, that little spider? I like how the die sets include so many different sized dies you can use. Not to mention the speech bubble in the Ghost set. Ahhh, I die. *wink wink*

A warm, toasty Halloween card. Shaped cards are such awesome cards to send because they are far from average.

And last, but certainly not least. I leave you with one last card today, drawing attention to Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I am a firm believer in educating oneself on the topic, and October is a fine month to make it a priority. I made this card to remind everyone:

The die from the Ghost set says Boo, but I got to thinking about adding another B and S. Boom. Love Yo’ Boobs! Once again, I used the Coffee Cup and Finishers set, along with the new Borders #2 die set. Those scallops are so versatile! What a fun detail they can add to any project. I also had to blend on some ink to the lid.
