10. 1904 Rolls Royce 10 HP Two-Seater ($7.25 million)

Let’s start with an incredibly old car which, to date, remains the most expensive Rolls-Royce ever sold at auction. It’s also the most anyone has ever paid for a car made before 1905, which admittedly is less impressive once you realize that, prior to that date, you basically had the Model T and automotive equivalents of bathtubs equipped with wagon wheels. Still, it’s hard not to see why someone would want to pay so much money for a car like this. After all, it’s not every car that’s going to give you a whopping 10 horsepower engine. Why, with an engine like that you might be able to reach breakneck speeds exceeding 25 miles per hour!

9. 1929 Mercedes-Benz 38/250 SSK ($7.44 million)

If Germans know anything, it’s how to intimidate the French. Also, how to build cars. We’re going to go ahead and assume they accomplished both when they produced this Mercedes-Benz, which looks like the type of car you could either win an old-timey road race in, or perhaps paint black and use it to get from your underground evil lair to the grocery store, because even supervillains need milk to keep their bones strong, and keeping your own cows can really stink up an evil lair. This car was actually designed by a fellow named Ferdinand Porsche, but he probably didn’t accomplish anything else in the automotive industry. Whoever heard of a car called the “Ferdinand” anyway?

8. 1965 Shelby Daytona Cobra Coupe ($7.68 million)

Up until recently, this was the highest price ever paid for an American-made car (don’t worry, we’ll be getting to the new champion soon enough.) This particular car was one of only six of this model ever built by the legendary Carroll Shelby, and was designed for the specific purpose of beating Ferrari in GT races. And, because we Americans love a good underdog story, it accomplished that very goal when, on July 4 in Reims,France, it won the World Manufacturer’s Championship. USA! USA! USA!

7. 1937 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlante Coupe ($7.9 million)

This two-door coupe was an offshoot of another Bugatti called the Atlantic, and there were only 17 ever produced. You can see why it fetched such a high price at auction, then. It’s kind of like if they only ever made a couple dozen Boba Fett action figures, and you had a chance to pick one up still in the casing, which was in mint condition. Who could pass up that opportunity?

It’s a highly valued car, is what we’re getting at here. This particular Atlante Coupe was owned by various rich people throughout history, including casino magnate William Harrah. And it makes sense that it’d have been owned by such exclusive clientele, considering the price tag when it was originally sold. Plus, who would want to pay $7.9 million for a car owned by one of the dirty poor?

6. 1936 Mercedes-Benz 540 K Spezial Roadster ($9.68 million)

Hey look, it’s our old friend Mercedes-Benz again. This car was sold at a PebbleBeach auction and, believe it or not, the final price tag was something of a disappointment. You see, many thought this car had a chance to become the most expensive car ever sold, for a variety of reasons. First, it’s one of the few such cars that are still kicking around that were produced in pre-war Nazi Germany. Also, they spelled special with a “z.” We’re not sure if that’s an actual reason or not, but it’s pretty damn wacky, so we’re counting it.

5. 1931 Bugatti Royale Kellner Coupe ($9.7 million)

Just take a look at this car. Seriously, take a good long look. You know how we mentioned the Mercedes-Benz looked like it could be a supervillain’s car? Well, move over, Benz; a new champion is in town. We’re pretty sure this must have been the inspiration for the Red Skull’s car in the movie version of Captain America, because seriously, just look at this thing. AGAIN.

This was one of only six ever produced, with the idea to sell to royalty. That plan didn’t work out so well. However, this car is noteworthy not just for looking evil and being utterly silly, but for housing a 12.7 liter engine that was originally manufactured for an aircraft. The unused Royale engines were later put in freaking high-speed railcars. We can’t imagine why it didn’t sell well during the Great Depression.

4. 1931 Duesenberg Model J Long-Wheelbase Coupe ($10.34 million)

And speaking of the Great Depression, here’s another 1931 car that not only went for an absurd amount of money at auction, but was ridiculously expensive at the time of its release, with a price tag of $17,000. That would score you a pretty decent car today, so can you imagine having the gall to try charge that much in the midst of the greatest financial crisis the country has ever seen? Fewer than 500 were ever built in the four-year span in which this model was available, and this one in particular fetched such a high price because it only had five owners, and at time of sale, only had 12,500 miles on the odometer.

3. 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spyder ($10.9 million)

Okay, spoiler alert coming up: this won’t be the last time you’ll see a Ferrari on this list. Heck, we even chose to bump a couple Ferraris because, frankly, talking about the same cars over and over just gets a little redundant. If this car looks vaguely familiar, it’s because it’s the same kind that Ferris Bueller stole from Cameron’s dad and subsequently wrecked in the wackiest of manners. Think about that price the next time you watch Cameron launch that puppy out of the window at the end of the movie.

2. 1968 Ford GT40 Gulf/Mirage Coupe ($11 million)

And now we come to the most expensive American car ever. As with basically every other American performance car built in the 1960’s, the Ford GT40 was designed with an eye toward taking Ferrari down a peg or two in road races. And why was Ford, in particular, so determined to top Ferrari? Because the company had tried and failed to purchase Ferrari in 1963. So basically, the most expensive American car ever sold was built out of spite. You know, otherwise known as the American way!

Okay, we’re actually kind of folding the two top-selling cars into one. They’re the same model, only one is a prototype and the other, well, isn’t. The 1957 Ferrari Testarossa Prototype is the first 250 Testarossa ever built, so you can imagine why it went for such a high price. Despite being a prototype, this car was used in road races for eight years. Plus, it just looks really, really cool. The actual 1957 Ferrari Testarossa (without the “prototype” tacked on there,) sold for $12.2 million in 2009 and, to us, that’s getting it cheap because holy crap, that thing looks just like the Batmobile!

Buyers of Apple computers, iPhones and other products know it all too well, the smell of a new device. This very specific smell is rumored to come from inside the devices, but some have suggested that the packaging is responsible. MacDonald’s use aggressive tactics to sell you their fries and other products. Focusing on ‘hot’ times in the day (lunch time for example) the company throws adverts out that are specifically aimed at those driving a car. Examples of one of these ads: one advert for fries features a sound that you could describe as something in between a deep fat fryer and a car heating system. The voice over even announces that the smell of fries being cooked will be transferred to your car, after which you are prompted to go and buy some. This type of advertising can hardly be called subliminal. Apparently the company thinks that subtlety should not be wasted on its customers. That’s why their restaurants feature so much red. Pay, eat fast and go away quickly. Before you can even ask for the wireless password and stay.

Nike stores use a mixed flower scent to direct you towards the more expensive shoe designs inside, but after an incident in which their shoes started smelling of cat urine after wearing them once, maybe they should have added it to the insoles of their designs instead. Apparently you want to spend up to $10 more on their shoes if they are diffusing flowery scents. The shops are light and often have white walls with black decorations or images in neutral colors. This makes you relaxed enough to pay up for their shoes.

According to Forbes’ 2012 highest-paid actors, Mission: Impossible star Tom Cruise topped the list with $75 million between May 2011 and May 2012, which make him the highest-paid actor in Hollywood, thanks to the $700 million box office of the latest Mission: Impossible movie.
Cruise is ahead of the two actors who tied for second place on our list: Leonardo DiCaprio and Adam Sandler with $38 million. Twilight stars Lautner Taylor and his Robert Pattinson made the tenth place with earnings of $26.5 million each.

Google+ is the latest social media platform which has caught the imagination of professionals in all walks of life. And fortunately for educators, features like Circles, Sparks, and Hangouts are of immense value – for an educator teaching at institutions located in different places, a lot of time is lost in travelling from one location to other, not to mention the strain involved in alternatively travelling and teaching.

Google Plus's Hangouts is a tool that takes the travelling strain out of the teaching process. Teachers can use that time to conduct more virtual classrooms at a greater number of places. This enables institutions to teach more students with a lower number of teachers, thereby saving costs and placing institutions in a position to reward teachers in better ways. The biggest advantage is that the Google Hangouts allows a teacher to teach to ten classrooms at a time. In case there are more, each of the receiving classrooms can relay it to ten more classrooms in turn.

Classes can be interactive and students at any center can ask questions through FM mikes. The speaker's image will always be bigger so that there is no confusion as to who is speaking. Komodo dragons have thrived in the harsh climate of Indonesia's Lesser Sunda Islands for millions of years, although amazingly, their existence was unknown to humans until about 100 years ago.

Reaching 10 feet (3 meters) in length and more than 300 pounds (136 kilograms), Komodo dragons are the heaviest lizards on Earth. They have long, flat heads with rounded snouts, scaly skin, bowed legs, and huge, muscular tails.

As the dominant predators on the handful of islands they inhabit, they will eat almost anything, including carrion, deer, pigs, smaller dragons, and even large water buffalo and humans. When hunting, Komodo dragons rely on camouflage and patience, lying in wait for passing prey. When a victim ambles by, the dragon springs, using its powerful legs, sharp claws and serrated, shark-like teeth to eviscerate its prey.

Animals that escape the jaws of a Komodo will only feel lucky briefly. Dragon saliva teems with over 50 strains of bacteria, and within 24 hours, the stricken creature usually dies of blood poisoning. Dragons calmly follow an escapee for miles as the bacteria takes effect, using their keen sense of smell to hone in on the corpse. A dragon can eat a whopping 80 percent of its body weight in a single feeding.

There is a stable population of about 3,000 to 5,000 Komodo dragons on the islands of Komodo, Gila Motang, Rinca, and Flores. However, a dearth of egg-laying females, poaching, human encroachment, and natural disasters has driven the species to endangered status.

The American crocodile is considered an endangered species in nearly all parts of its North, Central, and South American range. Survey data, except in the United States, is poor or nonexistent, but conservationists agree that illegal hunting and habitat depletion has reduced populations of this wide-ranging reptile to critical levels.

A small, remnant population lives in southern Florida, but most are found in southern Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, and northern South America. Their habitat of choice is the fresh or brackish water of river estuaries, coastal lagoons, and mangrove swamps.

A prehistoric-looking creature, it is distinguishable from its cousin, the American alligator, by its longer, thinner snout, its lighter color, and two long teeth on the lower jaw that are visible when its mouth is closed.

This species is among the largest of the world's crocodiles, with Central and South American males reaching lengths of up to 20 feet (6.1 meters). Males in the U.S. population rarely exceed 13 feet (4 meters), however.

Their diet consists mainly of small mammals, birds, fish, crabs, insects, snails, frogs, and occasionally carrion. They have been known to attack people, but are far more likely to flee at the sight of humans.

iMember of the boa family, South America’s green anaconda is, pound for pound, the largest snake in the world. Its cousin, the reticulated python, can reach slightly greater lengths, but the enormous girth of the anaconda makes it almost twice as heavy.

Green anacondas can grow to more than 29 feet (8.8 meters), weigh more than 550 pounds (227 kilograms), and measure more than 12 inches (30 centimeters) in diameter. Females are significantly larger than males. Other anaconda species, all from South America and all smaller than the green anaconda, are the yellow, dark-spotted, and Bolivian varieties.

Anacondas live in swamps, marshes, and slow-moving streams, mainly in the tropical rain forests of the Amazon and Orinoco basins. They are cumbersome on land, but stealthy and sleek in the water. Their eyes and nasal openings are on top of their heads, allowing them to lay in wait for prey while remaining nearly completely submerged.

They reach their monumental size on a diet of wild pigs, deer, birds, turtles, capybara, caimans, and even jaguars. Anacondas are nonvenomous constrictors, coiling their muscular bodies around captured prey and squeezing until the animal asphyxiates. Jaws attached by stretchy ligaments allow them to swallow their prey whole, no matter the size, and they can go weeks or months without food after a big meal.

Female anacondas retain their eggs and give birth to two to three dozen live young. Baby snakes are about 2 feet (0.6 meters) long when they are born and are almost immediately able to swim and hunt. Their lifespan in the wild is about ten years.
