Week 2 recap: You may have heard of the highly-anticipated game featuring Aledo at Denton Guyer, where Aledo emerged victorious in the final moment, but hold on to your popcorn and check out the slugfest that happened in central Texas between the Liberty Hill Panthers and the Hutto Hippos. And on Thursday, Wylie East visited the Gopher-Warrior Bowl and picked up a win against Grand Prairie; and at the same venue Friday night, Coppell secured a victory against South Grand Prairie.
Week 3 preview: Grand Prairie hits the road for Waxahachie. Marc analyzes Aledo's top prospects and potential breakout stars for this season. Are the Allen Eagles going to soar once again? The guys also discuss C.E. King, Katy, and North Shore high schools, as well as other schools around the Houston and Dallas area, plus other regions of Texas.

He's very well spoken and a leader on the football team. As a sophomore in high school, he had over 1600 yards and 24 touchdowns. Keyshawn also plays basketball for the Hooks Hornets. His favorite subject is English and he maintains a GPA of 3.7.

Season 4, Episode 3

Episode notes:
Matt and Marc are ready for the 2022 football season. Marc attended the EXOS Select 50 Showcase in Frisco last weekend. EXOS has a training facility in the Metroplex and trains professional, college and high school athletes. This past weekend's camp was the final installment for 2022.
Marc talks about several players who were camp MVPs in the Class of 2024 and 2025, who stood out and are on the cusp to have breakout seasons. Zachaun Williams, Brennan Myer, Drew Denton and Jacob Mainord. By being selected MVPs each player will qualify for the All American Team that is selected by EXOS.
Matt and Marc talk about several teams and important games heading into the 2022 season. Matt who is on the coaching staff and announces at Grand Prairie High gives us insight on the Gophers upcoming season.

Season 4, Episode 2

Episode notes:
Matt Davidson and Marc Henry talk with Nicholas Weaver, Class of 2024 Wideout/Tight End from Royse City High School.
Nicholas had a great 2021 campaign, where he was 8-5A DII second team all district.
Marc talks with Nicholas about his path into athletics. Nicholas explains that he has always loved sports and that his dad was the person who introduced him to athletics. Nicholas tells Marc some of the important things that he works on as a wideout. Weaver talks about his visit and camp experience at the University of North Texas. He explains that he went against some excellent competition, and that the ability to work with college coaches helps his game.
Weaver is a multiple sport athlete who also plays basketball and runs track. Nicholas believes that each sport contributes to his game and helps him excel. Weaver talks about some of the extra workouts he does to stay in shape.
Matt talks with Nicholas Weaver about growing up in Royse City and some fun things he likes to do. Weaver tells Matt about his basketball journey and how much love he has for the game. He tells Matt how influential his father is in his sports life and how it has been so much fun. Matt and Nicholas talk about his upcoming season and what he’s looking forward to the most.

Season 3, Episode 11

Episode notes:
Week eight of the 2021 Texas High School Football season is rolling in hard. Matt and Marc breakdown a few matchups, beginning with the Grand Prairie Gophers and their exciting 4-0 district record. The Gophers are coming off a big win against Arlington Lamar. Senior Savion Red is having an MVP type season. Drew Damper and Boogie Wilson have also been key contributors. The Grand Prairie offensive line has also been leading the way for the Gophers in 2021.
Matt and Marc talk about playoff seeding as well as how many teams get will get in per district.
Marc talks about the Guyer vs Allen matchup from last week. The Allen Eagles came out on top to give the Wildcats their first loss of the season.
Marc spotlights Donovan Shannon, RB from Rock Hill in the class of 2022. Shannon is having a great season. He had over 200 yards rushing last week in a win over Frisco Memorial.
Matt and Marc weigh-in on Nolan Catholic High School and the controversy surrounding the Vikings having to forfeit three games after using ineligible players.

Season 3, Episode 10

Episode notes:
Matt and Marc are on the road this week as they each are returning from week 4 Friday night's games. Matt with the Grand Prairie Gophers get a big win over Arlington Sam Houston to start off District play 1-0. Matt and Marc both have weekly picks in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram newspaper. Both of the guys picked the Gophers to come out on top. On the bus ride home, Matt talks about Savion Red and his improving quarterback play and leadership. Red is one of the top dual threat quarterbacks in DFW and is committed to SMU as a wideout. Matt and Marc also talked about the play of the Gopher offensive line this season as well as the play of linebacker Alex Torres and Christian Cross. This week the Gophers are home against Arlington High School.
Marc traveled up to Denison TX, for the district opener for Prosper Rock Hill vs Denison. Rock Hill is only in their second varsity season and came in with a 2-2 record. Denison is lead by Notre Dame commit Jadarian Price at running back. Marc explains that Rock Hill was lead by Brenner Cox, Luke Knight and Donovan Shannon on the offensive side of the ball. The Rock Hill defense lead by Jonah Bowman and Joseph McGinnis II had played great against Price for much of the night. But in the fourth quarter Price hit the Blue Hawk defense for a 69 yard run with 2:30 left to take the game away from Rock Hill. Marc tells us that he was impressed with Rock Hill and that for a second year program, the Blue Hawks are heading in the right direction.

Season 3, Episode 8

Week 1 of the 2021 Texas High School football season kicked off and there were some upsets and surprises. Matt Davidson and Marc Henry talk about the week and what teams they saw in action.
 
Marc begins with the Arygle vs Nolan contest at Allen Eagle Stadium. Argyle is coming off a State Championship in 2020 and Nolan was the runner up in TAPPS 6A after falling short against Parish Episcopal. Marc explains that Arygle was dominant from start to finish. He explains that the Eagles were dominant on both defensive and offensive lines which led them to a big victory.
Marc also was front and center for the Jerry Jones Classic at The Star in Frisco, Texas for Ryan vs Longview. Both teams came in highly ranked in the state of Texas, with Ryan being the defending State Champ in 5A D1. Longview ran into a buzz saw in the Raiders, who have the top rated linebacker in the class of 2023 in Anthony Hill. Hill also lined up at running back and his backfield mate Kalib Hicks ran for 139 yards and three touchdowns. The Lobos has several turnovers, which included a pick six and a block punt. Ryan looks to be the favorite in 5A D1.
 
Marc also attended the Duncanville vs Mater Dei contest in the Dallas area. A big time matchup of Texas vs California. Mater Dei came out smoking and ran off to a 45-3 victory over the Panthers.
 
Top Texas Prospects own Matt Davidson is now the football PA stadium announcer for Grand Prairie High School in the Dallas area. Matt talks about the Gophers' opening week win vs South Garland, 67-6. Matt explains that the Gophers may be on the verge of becoming a playoff contender in 2021. Matt talks about the play of SMU committ Savion Red, who this year has made the switch to quarterback. Matt also tells us about the stellar play of the GP offensive line and how they lead the Gophers to a big win. 
 
Next, Matt talks about the South Grand Prairie game, who came up short against in week 1. Lastly, he gives us a preview of the Grand Prairie vs McKinney Boyd game on Thursday September 2, 2021 in McKinney, Texas.

Today’s guest is Ethan Ybarra C/O 2023, a running back from Johnson High School in Buda, Texas. Buda is located in central Texas. Ethan talks about some of his expectations for the upcoming 2021 fall season. Ybarra explains several things he has been working on during the off-season to improve his game. Ethan gives Matt and Marc some insight on how important it is to have continuity with his offensive line, which is important for a running back’s success. Ethan talks about some of the key returning offensive players for the Johnson Jaguars. Johnson HS plays in a very competitive district 12-5A in central Texas. Ethan describes what it’s like to play against some of the top teams in district 12-5A. Ybarra also talks about Johnson making it to the playoffs in 2020. Matt and Marc are joined by combo guard Jahcelyn Hartfield from South Grand Prairie HS. She is in the C/O 2022 and is one of the top returning players in the DFW area.
Jahcelyn talks to Matt and Marc about how she comes from a sports family with both of her parents being athletes, as well as her siblings.
Hartfield, a Senior Guard at South Grand Prairie HS, talks to Matt and Marc about the Lady Warriors 2020 season. She explained how the team dealt with Covid by attending class online instead of in person. Hartfield and the Lady Warrior had a great season, just missing an opportunity to qualify for the Texas State Championship but lost in the fourth round.
Jahcelyn has aspirations to play college basketball. She explains to Matt and Marc how well her recent recruiting visit went. Hartfield, who is a great student in the classroom, explains what kind of student athlete the school she selects will get once she makes her choice.

Marc and Matt talk with Jason and Jadyn Robinson, brothers who recently relocated from California to the Houston area. Jason (CO 2024) and Jadyn (CO 2025), both excel on the offensive side of the ball at wide receivers. Jadyn also plays defensive back.
Matt and Marc talk with the Robinson brothers about their busy spring, which has included multiple camp visits as well as visits and workouts to several Universities when the on campus camps opened up on June 1st. The Robinson Brothers give Matt and Marc insight on how they keep each other grounded, as well as they keep a competitive competition between them which allows them both to continue to improve their games each time the step on the field for a workout.
Jason and Jadyn also tell Marc and Matt they will be playing this fall at C.E. King high school in the Houston area.

Our guest in this episode of Top Texas Prospects is David (D-Rob) Robinson from Always Open. Robinson works with high school and middle school wide receivers to help them refine their skills. You can see a high number of Robinson’s wide receivers on a field near you on any Friday night. D-Rob works primarily in the DFW area but travels all over Texas to help groom today’s next generation of elite wide receivers.
Marc talks with Robinson about his playing days at Desoto High School in the DFW, how important his cousin former Desoto quarterback Casey Printers was in his development and his college playing  days at the University of Oklahoma. Robinson explains how Always Open not only helps train young players but how he mentors his athletes on and off the field. 
 
Marc talks with Robinson about some of the important aspects to developing wide receivers and how he starts with players when they are in middle school and develop thru high school and some go on to the collegiate and professional level.
 
Matt talks with David about a talented crop of young receivers in the C/O 2022 and 2023. David talks with Matt about his younger cousin Justin Medlock from Manvel HS in the Houston area who is a linebacker prospect and how he trained with Always Open to help him better his game as a defensive player. Matt talks with David about how he started training wide receivers at the age of twenty-five years old. David explains to Matt how he talks to parents about realistic goals for each student-athlete that comes out to train with Always Open. Matt asks David about several of his past wideouts that came to him very raw but eventually turned into a diamond in the rough.
