Kudos to the NFL for ending this referee fiasco. TopBoss' next post was gonna' be, "Don't bet another dime til these Joker's get it together."
Oakland and Denver is divisional and always a dogfight. 7 points is historically too much in the AFC West. Take the Raiders and the points.
The Bengals should win this game. They're a little banged up on defense but the offense is getting better by the quarter. Jacksonville has no home field advantage in an empty stadium. Take the Bengals and lay the 1 point.
Dallas and Chicago are going to beat up on each other's offense. The majority of scoring could very well be from the defense, on both sides. This game looks like 16-13. Take the under 42.
Buffalo has this game circled every year. It's a Divisional game at home for the Bills and it's always a war. These games are always the same. Take the points.

Week 3 comeback

Indy will pass all day, Jacksonville will run all day. take the over.
On the positive we pretty much nailed the game scenario's, coming up just short of a really great first week.
Week 2 presents us with some better bargains than in week 1. TopBoss' first picks in the Was/StlL game. While Stl almost pulled one out vs Det last week, they went in that game decimated with injuries to the defense and came out with more injuries on offense, namely to that Off. line. Expect the Rams defense to be on the field all day. This is gonna be really bad. The Redskins will click on all cylinders and win this game handily.
Second, we're gonna go to the Hou/Jax game.Besides Houston being the better team here, we need to justify giving up 7 points on the road. Here it is. Jax has a lot of injuries on defense. The Texans will play this game a lot like they did against Mia, with a balanced offense that should score many points. This game is divisional so look for the Jaguars to put up a fight. There is a chance of rain in Jacksonville, but that will usually benefit the stronger team.
Next, we go to NE. TopBoss honestly believes that the Patriots are very under-rated, and they are at home vs. an Arizona team that will get better as the year goes on. But this is only week 2 and they don't have it figured out just yet. Now we also know that belichick doesn't mind running up the score on teams so don't expect a back door cover here.
Finally, TopBoss is going to take a chance and take KC and 3 points on the road vs the Bills. Why? TopBoss hears things.
     Good Luck Folks!

Week 1 Picks

In looking at the schedule and lines, it seems the bookmakers are on top of things. There aren't a lot of bargains out there and they're really making us pay to take the elite teams.
The second pick of this week 1 in the NFL involves the Bears and Colts. TopBoss has the Chicago Bears a little over-rated in the public's eye, and the Colts a little under-rated. This is all about the match-ups and it goes something like this. Colts offense will probably throw 50 times on Sunday. Number 1 because they don't have a strong rushing attack and number 2, you just can't run on the Bears. So they will be forced to pass, right into the Bears weakness. Bears were 28th vs the pass last year and while they should improve, they could be average at best. Luck will keep getting up and the Bears, like Apollo in Rocky I, could get worn out.
TopBoss is not under any impression that the Colts can stop a Bears offense that looks to now have deadly weapons in Marshall, Forte and Jeffery. Look for the Bears to get a lead and the Colts to either keep it close or cover the 10 points in the end.
The 3rd pick this week is obviously the over, for the reasons I've just stated, each team should light up the scoreboard against a very low total of 41.5. 'Nuff said.
Next, TopBoss likes the Falcons/KC game. This game should be a tough one. A high potent Atlanta Offense vs a great defense in KC. On the other side its a ball controlled offense in KC taking on a defense that will resemble the statistics of a year ago. TopBoss likes the upside of this Atlanta team. If the Falcons can come out the gate quickly, KC will have to throw right into Atlanta's strength, which is the secondary. Make no mistake, KC has a great defense, good offense and maybe the best 12th man in the NFL, but Altanta's weapons will hit their targets enough to win this war. Oh and by the way, #91 Hali, the Chiefs beast of a linebacker will be sidelined.
Finally, TopBoss loves the Detriot Lions. We know what we've got in the Lions. An offense that likes to run up the score. The Rams have a lot of things going for them and will be much improved, especially offensively. Jeff Fisher shored up every category on offense and defense to make them more competitive but, the injury bug has reared it's head. The Rams Defensive line has been decimated with injury, and Detroit will make it disgustingly ugly. A Rams offense will make a valiant effort but to no avail.

Giants/Dallas Wed. night

The first pick of the new NFL season goes to my beloved Giants over the
cowboys. Here we have a couple of things going for us. First, if you
look at these 2 teams they are very similar in all areas except one,
defensive line. That's where we find our edge. They will terrorize the
newly patched Offensive line of the cowboys. Giants are the last team
Dallas wants to play right now just out of the gate. We've got a good
shot to cover the 4 points layed here on a good day and at home, but on a
rainy day (which should be the case), it'll be even better because this
DL will force plenty of turnovers. Giants are not really as good as
folks think and have some real weaknesses, but look for Giants to cover
the 4 points.

NFL Season Is Here!

Welcome friends to my blog, where I, your not-so-humble servant
will give you the inside info that you ain't gonna hear anywhere else.
I'll give you the important info you're gonna need to make the wise
choices at the betting window.
Here at TopBoss, my intention is to try to take as much risk out of
betting as possible. Therefore the picks you will get here have the
most value built into them. Each pick can be viewed in the following
manner. For instance, TopBoss looks for info that gives a team a
significant edge over the other. That edge needs to give that pick a 70%
chance or better of covering the bet. So that pick, when played over a
period of 10 games would cover 7 times. Anything below 70% is just a
toss-up in my book.
Over the course of a season, natural situational changes occur.
Here's the deal. In weeks 1 thru 3, it's easiest to make the money
because the public basically is behind the curve, and so is Vegas, and
large edges are apparent. That's why you come here, to stay get ahead
and stay ahead, know what I mean? Starting around week 4, the edges get
smaller as the public and bookmakers get a feel for the teams. This is
also where the statistics begin to show a trend. Finally by week 8, the
gaps for edges are almost entirely closed and the bookmakers have it
nailed down tight. This is where Inside Info is so important and there
are less value games on the board.
TopBoss wants you to know that you can come here and expect to get a
consistent, valuable service. Simply check in every Saturday at 6pm PT
for the following Sunday's picks. While others have requested picks to
be earlier, TopBoss simply cannot give you any accuracy without things
like injury reports, weather updates, and last minute info that only
occurs just before game time. Then check back in Sunday mornings before
kickoff for any updates or changes.
Please pay close attention to the fictitious bankroll because it
should directly relate to your bankroll. What? You don't have a
bankroll? Please check the archives for the importance of a bankroll. It
is vital to your success.
Thanks folks and let's have a profitable year!
Here at TopBoss, my intention is to try to take as much risk out of betting as possible. Therefore the picks you will get here have the most value built into them. Each pick can be viewed in the following manner. For instance, TopBoss looks for info that gives a team a significant edge over the other. That edge needs to give that pick a 70% chance or better of covering the bet. So that pick, when played over a period of 10 games would cover 7 times. Anything below 70% is just a toss-up in my book.
Over the course of a season, natural situational changes occur. Here's the deal. In weeks 1 thru 3, it's easiest to make the money because the public basically is behind the curve, and so is Vegas, and large edges are apparent. That's why you come here, to stay get ahead and stay ahead, know what I mean? Starting around week 4, the edges get smaller as the public and bookmakers get a feel for the teams. This is also where the statistics begin to show a trend. Finally by week 8, the gaps for edges are almost entirely closed and the bookmakers have it nailed down tight. This is where Inside Info is so important and there are less value games on the board.
TopBoss wants you to know that you can come here and expect to get a consistent, valuable service. Simply check in every Saturday at 6pm PT for the following Sunday's picks. While others have requested picks to be earlier, TopBoss simply cannot give you any accuracy without things like injury reports, weather updates, and last minute info that only occurs just before game time. Then check back in Sunday mornings before kickoff for any updates or changes.
Please pay close attention to the fictitious bankroll because it should directly relate to your bankroll. What? You don't have a bankroll? Please check the archives for the importance of a bankroll. It is vital to your success.
Thanks folks and let's have a profitable year!
TB can't stop the run vs. balanced offenses. Yes we're betting a road favorite but when you don't have to pass, road teams win. Carolina's off a bye. In their last game, they learned to never rely on the kicker again. Panthers will try to run up a safe cushion vs. Tennessee. Will Baltimore let down again after a win in Pittsburgh? Not this time because this is the game that could lose the division for them. Very, very important game for the Ravens vs. a lesser opponent. These 2 totals, Buf/Dal, NO/Atl, are rather cheap at 48 and 50 respectively. 4 high powered offenses vs 4 high surrendering defenses. Easy. Good Luck and enjoy week 10.
Gotta love that! Oakland vs. San Diego. Take the Chargers and lay the 7 points. San Diego's a little underrated while Oakland is overrated at this point without Mcfadden. Also, Carson Palmer is not gonna stop throwing INT's this week anyway. Seems like a safe bet with the home team, coming off a loss and facing a vulnerable Raider team that's on the verge of falling completely apart. This definitely has blowout potential.
Normally, no picks are easy and none guaranteed, but TopBoss has some really good info on these 3' so bet 'em early. Topboss has downgraded the Giants +9 and the total due to the doubtful status' of Bradshaw and Nicks. It's still worth a small play though and more likely the total will go over. If you're like me and you've already bet on these 2 in particular, maybe think about a little hedge to cover yourself. Try a 2 team parlay with NE -9 and the under for 1/3 or your original bet. UPDATE: TopBoss likes SF -4.5. With the Redskins struggling to field a team for this week, San Fran is the last team they want to face. I know there are so-called handicappers out there that like to bet as early as Monday or Tuesday. To TopBoss, this don't make no sense. First of all, we need to see how practices go. We need to know who practiced and who didn't. Based on the practices, each coach must submit his injury report. We don't usually get those til' Thursday. Then, and very importantly, we need the weather reports. You can't know on Tuesday what the weather's gonna be on Sunday. Finally, we need to know where the money's goin'. Yes there are pros and cons to betting late. The biggest thing against it is that the lines move so much from Monday to Sunday. But then again, they sometimes move in our favor. TopBoss has been doin' this a long time, and betting late is far better than betting early. So that's how we do it here. Now, that being said, and in case you didn't already know TopBoss will post the week's picks sometime around midnight on Fridays. In a perfect world, you should check with TopBoss and then make your bets on Saturday mornings 'cause the lines really start to move around noon time. Then check with TopBoss Saturday nights and again Sunday mornings for updates or some late info.
Finally, TopBoss wants to touch on betting strategy. My advice to you is that you follow the strategy that TopBoss has put forth. That is, bet the percentage of your bankroll that is recommended. It is designed to minimize your losses. If you've followed TopBoss for awhile, you've noticed that when we lose, it's usually somewhere around breaking even and when we win, it's sometimes significant. It's better to be patient, disciplined and conservative. Now I understand that there are those of you who would prefer to be a bit more aggressive. That's fine. While TopBoss wagers the entire weekend (Sun, and Mon.) as one segment, you may wager up to 4 segments if you wish. For instance, when applicable, you might bet 33% of your bankroll on the morning games, 33% in the afternoon, 33% on Sunday night and 33% on Monday night.Obviously when you add aggression, you add risk. So long as you know that going in.
Just a few more things. Number 1.) You can tell how much TopBoss likes a game by the recommended percentages. We don't need to do no fancy-schmancy star system here. 2.) it's not a bad idea to wager online. It's obviously quicker and more convenient. Also, it's an even better idea to have 2 to 4 different online betting sites. Therefore one can choose the best lines and odds. 3.) While TopBoss usually will give a parlay, please note that they are not meant to be bet strongly. Any parlay is difficult to hit so keep them around 1% of your bankroll.
We're hanging in there pretty good, all things considered. We had a couple weeks there where things just didn't break our way but here we are, week 7 and we're still in the plus column concerning our bankroll. TopBoss is playing it a little conservative this week as Vegas has caught up with the teams true identities, therefore it's getting harder and harder to find our edges. Most of the inside info that TopBoss was able to obtain this week suggests laying off of several games. That kind of info saves us money, but it don't make us any. So these are the games that get the green light.
Pittsburgh all of a sudden, is healthy again. They go into Arizona, which is pretty much uncharted territory for them. Arizona has had the bye to prepare for the Steelers, but the word is that byes, and all the extra preparation ain't quite payin off for most teams, mainly 'cause the rule is that the players get a mandatory 4 consecutive days off. So while they get the extra rest, they don't really get the extra practice. So TopBoss likes the Steelers here for a couple of reasons. First, they are just the better football team with better coaching and better players at the key positions.Second, Arizona is not going to be prepared for the hurry up offense that the Steelers plan on running this week. Also, the -4 that the Steelers are giving here seems like a bargain that the public hasn't realized yet. The public is seeing this game as a road game for a Steeler team that almost lost to Indy on Monday night a few weeks ago. We're gonna look at them as the Steelers that are now healthy now, hungry, and poised to make a mid-season run.
Green Bay is the next TopBoss pick. Yes Green bay is the road team going into the dome of the Vikes. But we are betting that the rookie QB of the Vikes, who's starting about a year too early, will not be able to pull off the miracle of even playing a good game vs the super-bowl champs who look even better this year. Yes the Vikes have A. Peterson, and he should do very well here. But the Packers know what's up. They will be prepared for the basic, stripped down version, pass off of play action, don't turn the ball over, game plan that every team employs when they first start a rookie QB. A basic plan cannot work if you want to beat these Packers.
Finally, and this one's easy, take Baltimore. Take them now before the public realizes who the Monday night teams are, and then run up this spread beyond playable. Here's the deal, plain and simple: Jacksonville wins only when MJD goes on a tear. Every team that has stopped him has won. Baltimore will dare the rookie Gabbert to pass. Let's bet on that outcome. Baltimore -9.

Winning!

I don't like to brag but hey, winners is winners!. TopBoss is on fire going 6 of 7 last week and 3 of 4 the week before. If you ain't checkin' in every week then you're missin' out. And by the way, how'd you like that Cincinatti call folks? They was gettin' 2 points and there was so much action on 'em, they moved to 2 point favorites on the road! That kinda movement is significant in the NFL folks. Hope you got some of that action. Anyway, TopBoss could go on and on about last week but we got some more money to make so let's move on.
In week 6, TOPBOSS likes so many games that I had to go out and look for reasons to eliminate some. So I did, and these are the one's that stood up to the Boss' scrutiny. So needless to say, I like 'em a lot.
Carolina has been good to us, and we may just be ridin' 'em all year. They go into Atlanta hungry for a win and they look up and find a division rivalry. What a perfect chance for these Panthers to get back in the hunt. Atlanta is too predictable. If you watched last week vs. Green Bay, they got up 14-0 because they were running all kinds of creative plays. Then they got conservative and tried to hold that lead. This tells us that even when they want to be creative and loose, it just ain't in their make-up. I Think Carolina wins this game straight up but we'll take the 4 points.
Cincinatti is doing well, and now they're coming back home to face Indy. Hey, that kid Painter is pretty good but now he's gotta leave home. The Bengals win in their house. Period. Even though 7 points is a lot to lay for an average offense like the Bengals, we're gonna take a shot here.
New Orleans faces it's division rival the Bucs. 4.5 points is cheap and it's only this low because it's divisional. The Bucs can't keep up with the Saints for 4 quarters, even at home. Take Saints -4.5.
Let's talk Lions. Once again at home, and that crowd? Forget about it. 49ers will have to rely on A. Smith at some point. They'll do a good job running here, but in the 4th quarter, with 2 minutes left, San Fran will have to throw. Ain't gonna happen. Detroit -4 to go 6-0.
Call me crazy, but I'm about to put you on the Vikings vs. Chicago, in Chicago. That's right I said it! An associate of mine on the inside is making this call and was good enough to share it with us. Pay attention though to the recommended bet size here, which is 2% of your bankroll. No more, no less. Min +3.
The last game I want to mention is the Dal/NE game. It didn't survive TopBoss' cuts because there's a chance of rain. Check the field, check the weather. If it's dry, TopBoss love's, love's, love's the over. Enjoy.

Week 5-On A Roll

I gotta say week 4 was terrific! We really needed a breakout week and we got it, Big time! 75% winners got us back on track and heading into week 5 looks just as profitable. Stick with us folks 'cause we're gonna make some money, that's for sure! Let's get right to the upcoming action.
TopBoss has been on fire when it comes to the totals wagers, so let's keep 'em going. The weather reports check out and we shouldn't have any hindrances to our high powered offenses going against some very suspect defenses. In fact, Is there any good defense out there? We're gonna hit at least 3 of 4 of these totals.
Detroit is looking sharp, and although the Bears defense matches up well vs the Lions offense, they just can't hold back the flood that awaits. Detroit's coming back home and can't wait to exact revenge on every single division rival.
Carolina's glad to get home and should keep pace with the Saint's in what is sure to be a shootout. Oakland getting 6 vs Houston is a good bargain considering they lost Andre Johnson. The Texans are an entirely different team without him. Oakland and Houston look very similar on both sides of the ball. It's gonna be close so 6 points is a ton to give. Finally, TopBoss has some good inside info on the Bengals, so we're gonna bet it a little and see what happens. TopBoss would like to wager more but it looks like the weather's not gonna cooperate as it's probably gonna rain. What's the info you ask? While most times TopBoss ain't obliged to divulge, I can tell you that a lot of wiseguys are on the money-line and taking the Bengals to win outright. TopBoss recommends betting it lightly though, even if it rains. Good Luck folks.

Week 4

Just to recap last weeks performance, TopBoss didn't fair so well. Them's the breaks, and sometimes they break our way and sometimes they don't. The live dogs mostly were a let-down. TopBoss does not like to be on the wrong side of info, but it happens. There were some strange goings on last week, which is how this stuff works. The two strangest things that TopBoss seen last week happened in Indy and Dallas. First, Pittsburgh seemed to go out of their way to keep it close against the colts (Hmmm), and the Redskins.........? Let's just say I smell a rat! Yeah, we covered in that game, but still. People, this is why you gotta be careful out there at the betting cages. You don't wanna go around thinkin' the NFL ain't looking out for their interests. It's a business. Even through all the bad luck and strange happenings, were still holding 80% of our bankroll. Not bad, considering.
OK, Let's get on with week 4. These games TopBoss is puttin you on is solid. Were gonna battle to get our bankrolls on the plus side, but just remember, we're on the right side of the numbers here so hang in there.
First up are the Panthers in Chicago. The Bears got a decent defense, and they may pick off Newton a few times, but that kid is gonna keep hammering and he ain't goin away. The bears are gonna find their run game this week, but it ain't gonna be enough to pull far enough ahead to cover. The Panthers could win this game outright, but we'll still take the 7 points.
The Detroit Lions just may be unstoppable on offense. You gotta have a great, and I mean great defense first, before you can even consider keeping up with these lions. And one more thing, these Lions are far better than the Redskins let me tell ya. Besides taking Detroit and the points, we're gonna take the OVER 46. This game looks like another high scoring affair. Did I mention that TopBoss is 5 of 6 when picking totals this year?
Finally, TopBoss likes the Pit/Hou game to go over 45. Again, it ain't rocket science.

Week 3 Live Dogs

Although week 2 was full of surprises, and didn't exactly go as planned, the inside info that TopBoss acquired from sources turned out to be very good and very reliable. We had good info in Buffalo but Oakland just exceeded expectations. Period. In San Francisco, we pushed but could not have foreseen the bad luck we encountered by losing most of Dallas team to injury. We were 1 yard shy of covering in that game. So we were just a 1/2 point in one game and 1 yard shy in the other. That's the way TopBoss rolls. We get our good share of wins, but our losses are minimal.
This week the board is offering us a lot of live dogs and these are TopBoss' favorite types of bets. Also, TopBoss has a lot of good info from very good sources. Again I can't divulge specific info but TopBoss likes all these games equally, so let's bet them that way. Early on in the season, with our bankrolls limited, we're gonna look for small wins to get us into freeroll country. TopBoss plans to be over our initial starting bankroll after week 3, 'cause it's important to get ahead early. Some warnings though to look for before placing certain bets.
In Buffalo and Jacksonville, check the weather first. They are expecting some showers. Light rain is OK and it would have to pour to get me off of those bets, but just make sure it ain't doin' exactly that before kickoff. There ain't nothin worst than a downpour when you need to break 50 points.
Finally, if you have access, and are winning in the early games, use your discretion as to how much to bet in the later games. Personally, TopBoss is betting exactly this way (5% on each game) until Sunday Night and Monday night, then if we're up big, I'll wager bigger, right around 30% on Sunday night and 10% on Monday. Good luck everyone. By the way, check back often on Sunday, with so many bets this week, you may have some questions. Post your questions in the comments and most likely be able to answer them expeditiously.
Bettors vs. oddsmakers

Week 2 of the NFL is always interesting. The oddsmakers don't have much to go on except trends and situations and the public has only one thing to go on, just one lousy week. So the books look to find a balance but no matter what they do, the lines move out of control from Monday to Kickoff. That's of course, whats happening here. Most of the value is gone by now, but regardless, the bettors and public have no clue.
That's why you come here, to sift through the mess. TopBoss has friends in high places, therefore some very valuable info. While I can't reveal exactly what I know and how I know it, I'll can give you some other...well...let's just call 'em clues.
First up is the Dallas/San Fran game. This line started at Dal -3 and if you'll notice, hasn't even budged. There's a trend out there that says Dallas has won in this spot only twice in 23 chances or something like that (Whatever that spot is). That ain't good enough for TopBoss! While trends do have their place in wagering, TopBoss thinks it's giving us a deal here. Dallas is a good football team, has solid players at key positions and a good QB. San Fran is a team that is bare bones, looking to run plays that build Alex Smith's confidence, and possesses a defense that hopes to bend but not break. The team is being handled with kid gloves and a strict script. Look for Dallas to rip up that script early. TopBoss likes Dallas -3.
In the Buf/Oak game TopBoss likes the trend along with the week one performance, along with the home team. This Buffalo team is young and hungry, building off the second half of 2010, where they reeled of several respectable wins. Buffalo lost a lot of games early in 2010 and won a lot late. In all those games they competed for 4 quarters and that's all we can ask. The inside info in this game is that Oakland is has no idea the ambush they're about to face. TopBoss suggests Buffalo big.
Bal -4 vs. Tenn is a great bargain. When we look back on week 2 of 2011, we're gonna say, "Damn, I wish I could get Bal -4 again." Bal is a team that is Superbowl bound! You heard it here, probably not first but probably not as convincing.
If you really want some action on a great game like NE/SD, just take the total over 53.5 Both these offenses are too powerful to stop for long. Take it light, take it for fun. TopBoss has no special info here cuz it don't take a rocket scientist to see whats gonna happen.
Finally, TopBoss want's to emphasize the importance of bankrolls and bankroll management. Picking games is only part of winning, but just as important is discipline and good money management. While TopBoss is an ace at pickin' winners, I guess I ain't that great at postin blogs via these things they call androids 'er whatever. It's unfortunate 'cause we would have done quite well. We take profits serious here at TopBoss and it won't happen again. That's a promise. Week 2 is approaching fast so come back to get your inside info. I always recommend checking in once Saturday nights and then again early Sunday morning for late changes. See you then. I'm hard at work keeping up with and analyzing each team as they progress to week 1. Meet me here for week one, where we'll start yet another money making season. As last years followers know, we doubled our bankrolls, and we did it very conservatively. I'll see you all in the fall.
