New AR 670-1 Released and Already ArmyADP.com has Got the Board Questions Ready

Even though the New AR 670-1 was just released on Tuesday 1 April, ArmyADP.com had the Board Questions Ready for Soldiers to Learn and Prepare for their Next Promotion Board. TOP has been working all week on getting them completed and uploaded to the Website. TOP is convinced that the way ahead to Mentor and Prepare Soldiers is during this Phase of their Careers. Attending a Promotion or Competition Board is a Huge Step for a Soldier in the Very Early Stage of their Career. It is probably the First Time that they have actually taken the Challenge of Becomming a Leader of Others. Therefore, TOP beleives that it is when they are Open to Learning and building on that Knowledge Base.

How will having an updated Board Study Website help in building the NCO's of 2020 and preparing them to be better Leaders? TOP beleives it is through enforcing Good Board Programs that are Not just a "Check the Block" type of event like so many things in the Army are. Think about it for a moment, prior to attending a Promotion or Competition Board how much does a Soldier really Learn?

My hat is off to the SMA, he is truly trying to bring the Army and the NCO Corps back to the basics. With the Release of the New AR 670-1 it is a Buzz and stirr up of lots of People wanting to know what is in it. Especially since it has been forever since there was any update to it. It will take much more that just the release of a New Regulation though. It will also take those Leaders on the Ground to Continue that Wave of Energy by "Enforcing" The New Standards of AR 670-1. We will need for our Junior Leaders to step up and make those Corrections that need to be made and Not wait to see a Senior NCO make the Correction. That is the reason that they are NCO's in the first place is to be that first line of Correction.

ArmyADP.com "The New Army Board Study Guide"

The Army is changing and so are the Topics that Soldiers are required to Study. It isn't something that Soldiers should sit back and complain about but rather they should embrace the Opportunity to learn new and better topics. The old material was old and outdated and was never updated. It was literally material that was put out on a Website that has sit there for over a decade and was Never updated. Of course what do you expect from a company ran website??

The New Website ArmyADP.com is a list of Army Board Study Questions that were designed from the Army's ADP's which is the Army's initiative to cut down on how many AR's were out there and to condense them down to a more manageable size. In looking at the Questions, they are very lengthy, but were designed to allow the Solder to actually "Know" the material when they were done Studying.

The ability to have a site that "Formats" the Questions is invaluable to both the Soldiers and the Leaders. It would be almost impossible for the average Soldier to completely "Memorize" and prepare for two to four Questions from a Board Member out of fifteen different ADP's that are 70 pages long or ADRP's that are over 200 pages long. And then the Board Members themselves may ask the Question in a way that they Soldier would have no idea what they were talking about. But only because the Board member did not "Format" their question correctly it would hurt the individual Soldier.

The intent of Soldiers learning the material is still there but it just offers the Soldier and the Board member to both Focus on the Actual board proceedings. After all, this is one of the Single Most important and most challenging things that a Junior Leader will do in their Career is to go before a Board of Senior Non-Commissioned Officers and be drilled with Questions.

But it is imperative that the website be continuously kept up to date with feedback from the Field and from the Soldiers and the Senior Leaders by providing feedback to the site Author on a regular basis. After all, we don't want to loose sight of the big picture and that is that Soldiers still need to Earn their Promotions and Leaders should strive to ensure that the information that is required of them to learn is relevant and the Building Blocks that are needed for those Soldiers to be effective Leaders to their Soldiers.

So the Board Questions have changed for most of the units on FT Hood. It has everyone wondering just what they are going to do and "why are they doing this to us" mentality. With people thinking and saying the other topics and study material was so much easier to learn. Well that may have been the case and then we get NCO's that really didn't ever learn anything to begin with and who have never read an ADP or FM for that matter and are trying to Lead Soldiers. Then we wonder why we have an issue with our Junior Leaders?? I am curious if anyone out there knows if Every Installation and all the Units throughout the Army have all started using the ADP's for Board Questions now? If not I would like to know which one's have not. I also would like to know how people feel about this change?
