India has not attained the objectives that it set out to achieve when it woke to freedom at midnight one August night in 1947. But, even with all the dejection around, the 66 years of independence have not been uneventful for there have been sparks of achievements and success attained that have filled the heart of each Indian with pride. Struggle to rise and claim its place among the comity of nations will require more than nerves of steel of every Indian and as the country goes on to celebrate another Independence Day this August it would be an opportune time to reflect and count top 10 proud moments in the brief history of post-Independence India.

10. India becomes polio free nation – January 2011:

Years of successfully running the pulse polio campaign bore fruits. After January 13, 2011 no polio case has been reported in India. Only in 2009, the country accounted for half of the world’s polio cases but for more than two years (after a two-year old girl was paralyzed by polio in Howrah district of West Bengal on January 13, 2011) no case has been reported from anywhere in the country. It remains one of India’s sweetest success stories.

9. India becomes trillion dollar economy – April 2007:

Unleashing the creative entrepreneurial skills of Indian businesses as the economy was liberalised in 1991, by April 2007 the developing economy of post-Independence India had catapulted into the trillion dollar economy club. India’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) at market prices was valued at Rs.41,00,000 crore for 2006-07 that on exchange rate basis for the day translated into more than 1 trillion dollars. In 2000-01 the country’s GDP was estimated to be below $500 billion.

8. India wins Cricket World Cup – June 1983:

Hockey remains the national sport of India but it is cricket that fans swear by as religion in the over 1 billion people nation. It was at the Mecca of cricket, the Lord’s ground in England on June 25, 1983, that India defeated reigning champions West Indies to lift the third edition of Prudential World Cup. Since that day the sport has only gained in popularity and remains one of the proudest sports moments of post-Independence India.

7. Success of India’s Space Program – 1980:

Successful indigenous launch of SLV-3 satellite in 1980, announcing India joining the world’s elite government space agencies was a moment of triumph not just for the scientific community but for the whole country. India has since achieved tremendous success in its space program.

6. Triumph of democracy, End of Emergency – March 1977:

June 26, 1975 has been labelled as post-Independence India’s darkest hour when authoritarian and dictatorial forces threatened to derail the nation’s democracy after President Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed, on the advice of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, imposed state of emergency in the county. It was the triumph of democracy after Gandhi called for elections on January 23, 1977, released all political prisoners and success of Janta Party at the vote to put an end to the period remains one of the finest moments in the history of the nation.

5. India gate crashes to join World Nuclear Club – 1974:

With unsecure borders to defend in the north, north-west, west and east India, nuclear weapon deterrence, an essential requirement for the defence of the country’s policy, achieved success with the successful testing of a nuclear device ‘Smiling Buddha’ in 1974. As a responsible nuclear weapon armed country, India has abided by nuclear non-proliferation, laying emphasis tapping nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. India’s nuclear program started in March 1944 and by 2012 was generating 4780 MW of power to be the fourth largest contributor in meeting the nation’s energy requirements.

4. India-Pakistan War and Birth of Bangladesh – December 1971:

Right after the birth of India, the armed forces had to fend the nation’s territory in Kashmir. They fought Pakistan again in 1965 but it was the 13-day decisive 1971 India-Pakistan war that stands out as a watershed moment in the nation’s history. It was on December 16, 1971 that Pakistan Armed Forces signed the instrument of surrender putting an end to hostilities. The war created Bangladesh out of what was East Pakistan to put an end to a two front war with Pakistan, forever.

3. Bhakra Dam, Green Revolution & achieving food self-sufficiency – October 1963:

Elevated as a temple of modern India by then Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru, construction of the Bhakra-Nangal multipurpose dam was started by pouring the first bucket of concrete on November 18, 1955 and completed on October 22, 1963. One of the largest all concrete dams in the world laid out on River Sutlej, the Bhakra dam, other than generating electricity, ushered the Green Revolution and helped the nation to achieve food self-sufficiency; a no mean feat for a country as large as India.

2. First Parliamentary Election – 1952:

For a new-born democracy, holding a free and fair election on a scale where the geography involved was larger than Europe’s, the first general election of 1952 was a test of people’s resolve to firmly banish foreign rule through democratic empowerment. Success of the electoral process, keenly watched and documented by global agencies, did entrust the Indian National Congress with the right to form post-Independence India’s first democratically elected government. On May 13, 1952, Jawahar Lal Nehru assumed office as the country’s first Prime Minister.

1. Declaration of the Indian republic – 1950:

Birth of a nation is a proud moment for any people. Founding of the Republic of India, on January 26, 1950, is the proudest moment of post-Independence India. Setting the nation on the course of strong democratic traditions, leaders of stature, fresh from having spent long years in prison fighting British oppression, embarked the country on the path where ‘We the people’ chose to take up the responsibility of shaping its destiny. Stamping the day with authority of self rule, Dr. Rajendra Prasad was sworn in as the first President of the Republic of India.

Everyone loves to travel. But before venturing out to a new place a couple of things need to be taken care of. One among those is the booking of a hotel room or a place to stay. While budget is a prime factor which determines the choice, safety too is imperative and actually should be placed before the former. Here is a list of safety tips you would need to keep in mind to ensure that the room you finally book ends up being safe for you in all respects.

10. Avoid bidding sites:

There is the trend lately to bid for unsold hotel rooms. In this case, you only need to appraise the site of the city you are travelling to, the dates and your budget. It is only after your transaction has been fully processed that you get to know about the hotel. Now this is a risky proposition considering that even if the room is within your budget, it might not be what you really wanted especially with respect to vicinity and the hotel’s reviews too.

9. Check for travel warnings and advisories:

Much before you book your room or even decide on the trip for that matter, make sure to find out about the internal situation of the city or country you would be visiting. It is imperative that you find out if there are any threats in that part of the country or world. Only then should you proceed with the hotel or your room booking. Infact only after that should you confirm your itinerary.

8. Location of the hotel:

Before booking a room you would need to zero in on a hotel. To do that your priority should be in deciding the location of the hotel. Be sure to avoid secluded locations. Ideally the location should be such that it would be safe to walk around after dark, either in an upscale neighborhood or a bustling business district. Hospitals and police stations, if present nearby, are also added advantages.

7. Security measures:

The hotel you choose to stay in should have adequate security measures. You would need to find the information before making the final call. It would be helpful to find out if the front desk is staffed throughout the day. Whether surveillance through security cameras and guards are also present in the hotel’s checklist are other important points to note for ensuring your safety.

6. Avoid easily accessible rooms:

Security experts have advised against rooms from the ground up to the second floor. You should bear in mind that rooms on these floors can be easily broken into. Hence, another important factor to remember before making that booking is asking specifically for a room from third floor to the sixth floor. They would be safe from break-ins. It is just one of those things that could actually come in handy. It is actually best to avoid rooms facing busy streets or rooms with ground level windows or with sliding doors to the pool or beach.

5. Fire Safety Compliant:

Fire safety compliance of a hotel is very important. Before you make a booking, it is imperative that you ascertain the hotel’s compliance even for a day’s booking. You might think that it is not important but considering how businesses flout these norms, you might want to think again. You surely wouldn’t want to be stranded in a room that you believed was a good deal in case of a fire.

4. Don’t take rooms beyond sixth floor:

Most of the fire engine ladders around the world can reach only up to the 6th floor. Though the hotel could be fire safety compliant you would still need assistance from the firemen in case of a catastrophe. So in order to be safe it is good to ensure that the room you book is not beyond the sixth floor. Thus, book rooms only between third and sixth floors while travelling. It is one of the most significant safety tips to follow before entering a hotel.

3. View pictures of the hotel online:

Since most of the bookings these days are done through online portals; it would be a good idea to look at the pictures of the hotels rooms and lobbies before making the decision. There are a lot many sites where the pictures of the hotels would be available. If the hotels have well-lit rooms and hallways, it would be a safe bet for you to go ahead with the booking.

2. Read the reviews online:

Thanks to hundreds of travel sites and blogs at the click of a mouse you would be flooded with information about everything pertaining to the hotel. If it is worth the stay or not, if it actually has the services it says it does or of it is actually in a good location; all the information is available in reviews. So make it a point to read the reviews of the hotel online before making the booking.

1. Rooms for solo travelling women:

Though for women travelling alone women only hotels are a great option, but since they are few and far in between they need to be extra careful. So if you are a woman and are planning to travel alone make sure that you book a room that is not near stairwells and elevators. Ensure that the room is in the middle of the hallway. And ensure that you avoid corner rooms as they are mostly further away from help.

But as years pass on, couples tend to put sex on the back burner. From every day, the sex reduces to a bi-monthly activity in some cases! But that doesn’t have to be so. With a little help from the tips below and the zeal to keep your sex life lively you can still be the couple very much in love!

10. Kiss as often as you can:

As cheesy as it sounds, a good kiss can get the heart racing and you’d never realize how one small kiss turned into a quickie or an elaborate sex session! When you kiss there is saliva, and a male’s saliva has certain levels of testosterone which is an aphrodisiac. In simple language, it affects your sex drive. Something as simple and passionate as kissing can always lead to magic between the sheets.

9. Fitness:

A great sex life demands that you be agile. With an unfit body you are more prone to being lethargic which is not a conducive to your sex life at all. So do whatever it takes to be fit, eat healthy and exercise, for those are the key ingredients to ensuring that your body remains in good shape for that romantic interlude in the bedroom.

8. Touch:

A surprise touch here and there or perhaps a gentle yet intimate hug in the midst of life’s mundane activities helps in keeping the spark alive for couples. You feel connected. There are so many nerve endings throughout the human body which if touched in the proper manner can invigorate an individual. Even at the end of a hard day’s work, just hold your partner’s hand or caress them gently and viola you can both end the day on a happy note.

Sex is something which is very intimate for a couple. But it would never work if you are uncomfortable with yourself. You need to love your body for that will make you relaxed with your partner too. You would need to shed all the inhibitions that you have and be comfortable in your own skin.

Touch, kiss and look into each other’s eyes. Let your hearts beat faster and let you breathes run out up until the moment that the urgency gets too hard to handle. That’s when you would end up having the best love making sessions and bring back the charm of it into your relationship.

When it comes to sex life, music can bring the candour that you desire. It can seduce you and set up the mood. It can take you to a euphoric state and even make you forget the reasons why you had been missing out on making love in the first place.

4. Strip tease:

Well if it works in the movies, it sure can work in real life too! Spice up the mood, buy some sexy lingerie and do a strip tease for you partner. It may not be what you always do but then that’s what would make it special. You don’t have to be perfect. All you need to be is a bit flirty and a lot confident. Make your partner want you up to a point when he just can’t keep his hands off you. Basically surprise him and this trick usually never gets old!

3. Dance:

Dancing intimately, face to face with your partner in your arms is in itself a highly romantic act. Make one night of the week a dancing night. And no you wouldn’t have to go out for that. Play some great romantic numbers and dance with each other. Hold each other and occasionally kissing each other while dancing. When you are in such cozy contact with your partner with music and all the right essentials of romance, you are sure to make some moves to spice up your sex life.

2. Sleep nude:

Well what is more stimulating than the sudden touch of your partner. So sleep nude and it is sure to be that catalyst that catapults your bedroom temperature. If you are not comfortable with that, which you shouldn’t be really, still you should wear mundane night clothes as that would be a mood killer. Wear sexy night gowns or t-shirts for that would surely positively affect your libido!

1. Keep the love alive:

There is no doubt that if you do not keep the love alive, the sex would also not be that great either. You need to make your partner feel loved and keep the spark alive. From occasional notes to saying simple ‘I love You’, you need to do all to ensure that the thread that binds you is of love and not mere formality. It is then that you would salsa on the bed together each night!

The Indian education system is not actually ‘Indian’; it was imposed on the country by the British. The imperialists had just one goal in mind – to create a population of educated clerks and coolies so that they serve the British Empire better. India was set free in 1947 but successive governments did little to change the education system. In fact, they only made it worse over the next few decades. Here is the list of top 10 detectable flaws in the Indian education system which must be removed if the government is actually serious about the country’s development.

10. Serious lack of functional literacy:

Many Asian countries, including China, have invested heavily in primary education. Their fundamental goal is to increase functional literacy so that every citizen is capable of reading manuals or any other documentation and perform various tasks at work. The Indian education system, on the other hand, fails to impart the much needed functional literacy to millions of students. Except Information Technology and IT-enabled services, India’s performance in the services sector is abysmal and these, too, include repetitive work lacking any creativity.

9. Disparity in various streams:

A large majority of Indian parents and students look up to engineering, medicine, law and management as “better” streams. The Indian education system is such that vocational streams are almost always looked down upon. If a young student wishes to make a career out of his/her hobby, s/he has to fight or convince the entire society before going ahead with the plans. In fact, a large number of students have no choice but to graduate in Science, Humanities or Commerce even if they are ultimately going to be musicians.

8. Chalk and talk system of teaching:

The Indian education system is firmly stuck with the old and traditional system of ‘chalk and talk’. Technology plays little or no role, and it fails to find a mention in the policies laid out by various boards of school education – MHRD, NCERT and others. Decision makers in the Indian education system, on state and federal level, have made little or no attempt to modernize student assessment processes, teaching methods, etc.

7. Too many examinations:

In India, a student has to appear for dozens of qualifying, selection, entrance and periodical exams in a short span of 4-5 years after leaving school (as if the School gave him or her some respite and time to do something worthwhile). In the process, students lose interest in sports, creative pursuits and everything else that could be important. A successful (or failed) research scientist, medical specialist, engineer or any other person will agree that Indian education system should instead of called ‘Indian Exam System’.

6. Little room for world class research:

There is little or no room for world class research in the Indian education system. Even if a university student has great ideas and manages to implement one of them despite having to appear for dozens of exams every year, s/he has to align well with department head, professor-in-charge or director of the educational institution. If s/he deviates even slightly from what a professor with outdated knowledge thinks and believes in, the student is likely to get no funding for research, average grades or no recommendation in future.

5. The education system promotes private tuitions:

Private coaching institutions in India do not teach students how to do well as a citizen, be a successful professional, start a business or carry out research on a topic. They just prepare students for a board or entrance exam. It is ironic that students have to take up private tuitions despite attending schools for 7-8 hours every day. Students, who do manage to qualify in various competitive exams, lose interest in academics, experimentation and research right after they make it to the best schools.

4. Student ends up as jack of all trades and master of none:

Young school students in India are made to study as many as 7 to 10 books on different subjects starting from a very young age. They learn something about everything from Civics to Geography and from Language Studies to Trigonometry, but fail to focus on any one particular subject and excel at that alone. This is precisely the reason why these students fail to carry out research or have little or no creative pursuits later on in their lives.

3. Right to better education is affected by a student’s caste or religion:

India is a country of billions and it only has a handful of quality institutions with limited seats for millions of students. But admissions to these institutions are not always based on merit. The merit is sidelined as a major chunk of the “limited” seats is reserved for students who are born in certain communities, whether their parents happen to be peasants, industrialists or IAS officers. While the fundamental solution to the problem should have been more schools and better facilities for the less fortunate, the government chose to blindly implement the politically influenced reservation system.

2. Formulae instead of concepts are important:

Indian students are made to learn formulae, chemical equations, periodic table, names of freedom fighters, peaks and so on. Instead of learning the fundamental algebraic concepts, characteristics of elements, intricacies of the freedom struggle, etc., students end up cramming information that serves little or absolutely no purpose in day to day life. Why should everyone cram Trigonometry formulae to score well in High School, for example?

1. Theoretical knowledge forced upon young students:

In the Indian education system, teachers impart theoretical and not practical knowledge to students at any level. Even a 7-year-old student can be seen carrying a bag full of books and notebooks all the way to school and back home like a coolie (the British succeeded!). Instead of imparting practical education to students, boring subjects are forced upon them. In the process, the students lose the curiosity which could have helped them learn better, and at a much faster rate. The biggest flaw of this system is that it kills curiosity – the human nature that leads to development.

It’s never a pleasant feeling to get trapped in a place full of people you would rather wish had never stepped into your life. But that’s what life is about, isn’t it? Throwing you into soupy situations constantly! So, what if you come face-to-face with people who you would perhaps best describe as your foes? How would you deal with them or, rather, how would you carefully avoid them? Let’s have a look at some of the many possible ways to escape when caught alone by a bunch of your not-so-favourite people. These top 10 ways to escape your foes, however, does not include kicking the lights out of them because we assume you are neither a Bruce Lee nor a Wonder Woman.

10. Ignore whatever they say:

It is always better to avoid conflict; especially if you are alone and they are more in number. It could well be a good idea to ignore whatever they say. You could expect them to try and engage you in verbal dual or just instigate you by their comments. In such situations always remember to use both your ears, listen with one and dump through the other.

9. Look the other way:

As much as you would probably want to stare back at people you dislike, it might be a better option to avoid any eye contact with them. So, if you happen to be lucky enough to spot people you are uncomfortable with from a distance or prior to them noticing you, turn the other way. Yes, one of the best ways to escape them is to avoid them, even if within the same confined space. Talk to other people; try to avoid acknowledging their presence.

8. Pretend to be on call:

Thank God for the mobile phones! In spite of the lack of any statistics, it can be safely assumed that pretending to be on call must have saved loads of people from unwanted meetings or awkward situations. Put up an act. Behave like you are on the most important call of your life and keep talking till they get tired and leave you alone. But remember to keep the phone in the silent mode. You wouldn’t want a call to burst your safety net, would you?

7. Turn around and walk away:

Sometimes the easiest way out is indeed the easiest way out. If things get heated up or even if it begins to get suffocating, just get up and walk out. Yes, it’s that simple! But do it with an air of confidence. Don’t panic for that will give them the leverage to stop you, if they are audacious enough. As straightforward as it sounds, the answer to escaping is to turn around and walk away.

6. Look very depressed:

If you are any good at putting up an act, pretend that you are so depressed that you would break down any moment. Do whatever you need to do but get that message straight to them. Show that you are going through the saddest event in your life and unable to cope with it. In fact, tear up a little or choke while telling them that you really need to be alone at that moment and chances are you would be left alone.

5. Run to the washroom:

You got to go when you got to go, right? Pretend that you have a bathroom emergency, something that if delayed would end up in a filthy manner. Pretend that you have the stomach bug or something and it is very unlikely that you would still have to deal with them. Hold your stomach, make an uncomfortable face and walk gauchely, and that should do the trick.

4. Talk very loudly:

If you are alone with a bunch of people you don’t feel comfortable or safe with, then talking loudly is one of the best ways of escape your foes. Speaking loudly would surely attract the attention of other people in the vicinity. With other people aware of your presence, it is unlikely that you would come to any harm. Talking as loudly as you can may actually create an opening for you to escape.

3. Pretend to be sick:

It might work or it may not. But then it’s always better to try something then not do anything at all. So, cough as loudly as you can or just pretend to be hopelessly sick. Seeing you suffering already from a disease would probably let them leave you alone and that too, with a grin on their faces. But don’t worry if they do for you would be having the last laugh.

2. Talk to them:

If nothing works then confronting them is one of the best ways to escape. But don’t enter into a fight; discuss your problems and tell them what you feel. You would appreciate that it was the last time either of you spoke about it. Tell them that you would be walking away and that in future it would be better if everyone maintains the distance. Put a rational argument without saying too much about what makes you dislike them and perhaps they would be persuaded to do as you say.

1. Apologize:

It is a well-established belief that apologizing is the solution to all problems. You might or might not have been wrong but saying sorry would only make you a better person. And if they have some sort of conscience too, they would do the same. The greatest of all ways to escape foes is by turning them into your friends.

School days are the best days of a person’s life, most of you will agree with me. The time you spend in school and the things that you do in school are probable the things that you will remember all throughout your life. When I got down to writing this article about 10 funny pranks of school days, it didn’t put me into a deep thought for once, I had so many of them in mind, and here I’ve listed the top 10 simple and easy to execute pranks in school to make your fun days funnier.

10. Kick me:

One of the simplest and easiest of pranks that I’ve played on my classmates in school and even you must have tried some point in time is the Kick me prank. A sticky note is pasted onto the back of the victim reading kick me, just make sure the victim doesn’t see you sticking the note. Once he/she will walk around just see how other students in the class react.

9. Place an order:

This prank is simply but can be really frustrating for your teacher. All you have to do is, get the number of your local grocery store or an expensive restaurant in the locality of the school and then place a home delivery order for a hefty bill in the name of your teacher. Just be around the teacher when the delivery guy comes to deliver the order you just placed.

8. Scare your juniors:

There is nothing more annoying than being scared by your seniors in school, and when you come to the 6th form; there is nothing better than scaring your juniors in the haunted area of the school or say on 13th Friday. Just clad yourself in a white robe and hide in a dark area, when a junior approaches just pop out of the blue and be there to see the junior to the hospital.

7. Steal pigs:

I haven’t really done this myself but I didn’t waste a moment to feature it here in the list of funny pranks when a friend told me about it. The execution of the prank is easy, just steal a few pigs and put 1,3,4,5,6 numbers on them, let them lose in the school campus and enjoy the scene when everyone is busy searching for the pig number 2. If caught, God save you from expulsion.

6. Shower stealer:

Besides studies and sports, you do learn a little bit of stealing in school. Just be sure you don’t make it a profession though. Stealing in the shower is a good way to refine your skills. Just pick the towel and change hanging outside when the victim is taking a shower (make sure you’re swift and he/she doesn’t get to know of it) now run away and hide the stuff, make sure you get back to see your friend without a change to get out of the shower.

5. Nose flick:

Nose flick is a very classic school prank that you must have tried or been a victim of some point in time. If you want to play the prank on your friend, all you have to do is, point a finger at your friend’s chest, right below the chin and act as if there is something there, and as the person looks down to see it, just flick the finger up and hit his/her nose.

4. Door balance:

Yet another classic school prank, but this isn’t as simple as some of the others listed. Door balance requires you to place a glass full of water on top of a partially open door. Then just be around to see the event that follows when the next person walks through. If all’s in place, the glass of water will fall onto the person. If you’re lucky, the victim may just spare your life.

3. Pick me if you can:

Being in school one rarely gets a handsome pocket money, so whatever little cash that you can grab onto is a bonus. The prank here targets this student psyche. Just tape a thread to a dollar bill, place it on the ground and holding the thread in the hand hide yourself behind a bush or a wall, now whoever sees the cash on the ground will come to it, as the person bends down to grab it, pull the tread (and the bill) away from the person. Repeat until the person knows he’s been duped.

2. Cheat the teacher:

One of the best ways to fool around in the class and play a prank the teacher is to not do homework or any classwork for a couple of days and keep questioning the teacher repeatedly on a topic being taught. If the teacher comes around to check your work, start of dramatizing a panic attack of sorts, try and be very realistic in your acting. If lucky the teacher’s thought will divert, else Lord be thy savior.

1. Spill him over:

This prank is my personal favorite, and I’ve done it over and over in school and ever after school. All you have to do is get a large glass of water and ask your victim to place their hand on the table with palm facing downwards. Now, place the glass (and to indulge them) ask if it hurts (the answer for sure will be negative). Now remove the glass and ask the victim to place the other hand on top of the first (in reverse again). Now, place the glass on the hands and walk off. There is no way the victim will be able to move the hands without spilling the water on the desk.

Life is about moving on, and every person you get involved with does not leave without teaching something. Coming out of failed romantic relationships, especially if intimacy levels were high, is quite difficult for everyone. Your past love was more like a training session that indirectly prepared you for the one complete heartthrob who’s perhaps waiting just for you! Move ahead and in case you are still not aware memorize the top 10 lessons your past love should have taught you.

10. You start imagining things:

Some people stay happy and some, well, they just try to find joy in sadness. If you’ve had an unsuccessful love relationship in the past, you probably would make up a future with your past love in your thoughts many times over. It is important for you to leave the past behind and move on. Do not predict the sad demise of your present love (in case you are already in one) and also do not think about the past one.

9. Be a team:

There are ups and downs in life; there are times when one or both of you are depressed for one reason or the other. On such occasions, it is important that you two work as a team and support each other. For example, if your interest is writing and hers is cooking, both of you can help each other in pursuing your respective hobbies. If the reason for your previous breakup was because you couldn’t get along very well, you’d have by now realized how important mutual understanding is to a relationship.

8. Love unconditionally:

The only love worthy of being held in the highest esteem is one which is unconditional. It is not easy to misinterpret it. The best outcome of loving someone unconditionally is that you wouldn’t be judging him or her at all. There is absolutely no room for altercations, disagreements, doubts or resentments in a relationship when you just offer your love. No strings attached. Maybe you placed conditions in your previous relationship which is why you lost it.

7. Don’t wait to be happy:

Time to be happy is today, and you shouldn’t wait for someone to come and help you smile. Many people develop high level of emotional dependency on their lovers. Emotional dependency is likely to make you expect more. But a relationship begins to weaken the moment such expectations are not met, even once or twice.

6. Some relationships are not forever:

As soon as you accept the fact that some relationships are just bound to be temporary, you can stop fretting over things that went wrong. Walking past blame-games and guilt-trips is extremely important. No matter what the underlying reason for the failure of your relationship was, it is important to recognize the truth that if two personalities do not align well with each other, they’re better separated than united.

5. Learn quickly and apply immediately:

Breakups do not happen without a reason in most cases. For many people in love, these reasons are just silly or downright stupid. If you’ve come to understand that he or she doesn’t want you to get drunk every night, you better mend your ways immediately or take him or her into confidence. You must apply each lesson you learn on the way before you find yourself on the edge.

4. Communicate regularly:

Most relationships often end when either one of the partners fails to communicate properly. Misunderstandings should have no place in a romantic relationship. Love is a pure and divine emotion. Even the slightest of doubts can shake it up. Instead of frowning over a partner’s doubt, fear or allegation, it is important to quietly understand his or her predicament. A hug and kiss followed by a brief explanation can always help.

3. Respect him or her as an individual:

Yes, there are hardly any reasons that you can list for being in love with someone. One moment you feel the spark in your heart and the next, you know you’re in love. But it is easy to undermine his or her individuality when in love. Just as you do not interfere with personal beliefs, wishes and issues of even a best friend or sibling, it is important to give the same space to your lover, too.

2. Let it go:

This is the hardest lesson to learn from past love. Letting go is very difficult, especially if you’ve not found someone special again. Past love, if you fail to forget it, stays in your heart disguised as a sweet memory. It would make you feel cherished and grateful but will actually stop you from building new relationships. Letting go is what empowers you to create a new and maybe even better relationship.

1. Be yourself:

There is no point of changing your opinions or beliefs just to please him or her. In the long run, it doesn’t really help. When you’re in love, the most you can do is to gladly disagree with him or her. Be yourself and let your partner do the same. Do not force your ideas and opinions on your partner either. A loving relationship lasts forever only when two people accept each other completely, no questions asked.
