After reviewing our favorite readings of the Torah we will begin to look at the various aspects of the Nazarean Codicil and how it related to the festival of Shavuot and the Torah Seder. We will try to look at why Yeshua speaks to his Talmidim and says that they would become “fishers of live men.” We will also try to capture the relationship to how we should be reading the Nazarean Codicil with First Century Eyes.

We then discussed the ascension of Yeshua and the ordination of the Talmidim to Hakhamim. After we see when the Talmidim have been made Hakhamim (Sages – Wise men) we then look to the account of Shavuot. The text of the Nazarean Codicil discusses Shavuot – the day of Pentecost. We addressed the voices and the miracle of Shavuot. We will looked at the Tanakh to see if the account in 2 Luqas (Acts) bears similar information.

Tonight’s Torah Focus, the secrets of the Mikveh. We will look at the question of why Yochanan (John) validated the mikveh of Yeshua. What was Yochanan saying when he said that he should be immersed by Yeshua? What was the whole immersion of Yeshua about anyway?
Remes – Hint
What do we learn from the genealogy Yeshua? Why are there conflicting opinions concerning the genealogies?
What are we to learn from Hakham Tsefet (Peter) standing up to give his lecture at the dawning of Shavuot? (Acts 1:15-26)
Tonight concluded Lag B’Omer. How does Lag B’Omer fit in the scheme of the Triennial Torah Readings?

Understanding the Mesorah of the Master means that Yeshua was the personification of the Torah MiSinai and the Torah Shebe’al Peh or the Oral Torah i.e. Mesorah. Therefore, by investigating the life and actions of the Master, we are able to better elucidate the Torah MiSinai and the Torah Shebe’al Peh. The Nazarean Codicil is the toolbox for “investigating” Messiah. As a personification of the Torah, we see the Master enacting the Torah and the Oral Torah as a means of elucidation. The late Vendyl Jones, may his memory be blessed, suggested that we view the life of Yeshua as an actor on stage acting out the Torah.[1] This fits the words of Yochanan (John) who tells us the “Word was with G-d in the beginning.”[2] While these words are sublime in nature, Yochanan is telling us that we are to look at the life of Yeshua as a personification of the Torah, and by extension anyone who claims to be a Rabbi or Hakham.

Beresheet (Gen) 2:4-3:21

In this Torah Focus we take a trip into Gan Eden. We stop to look at the trees, the river and the general environs. The text of Beresheet tells us that there was a river which flowed into the Garden. What is the significance of the River? Does it have a name? What can we learn from the varied levels of hermeneutic when they are applied to the Garden. This class uncovers some of the mysteries of that special place.

We took a special look at B’resheet 3:8 where we hear the voice of G-d walking through the Garden. We will also take a special look at this “garden.” The relationship between the Nazarean Codicil and Torah Seder is most amazing. How does Rashi and the Ramban handle this passage and what really was happening? We will see this evening when we put all the pieces of the puzzle together.

 <itunes:summary>Beresheet (Gen) 2:4-3:21
